Lick's - Restaurant in Parry Sound, Canada
Stopped here on the way home from the cottage as we were craving a burger. The staff were friendly, the food was hot and the fries/onion rings were tasty. That was the only positive. Two burgers combos with cheese and bacon came to $50!! The burger patty itself was terrible and she put a MOUNTAIN of shredded cheese on it, I like cheese but this was ridiculous. Overall, I would not recommend.
Do not get the mac and cheeseVery unappetizing and not tasty at all.
Food was decent, but price is insane. $24 for bacon cheeseburger and fries with a drink.
Went to have a meal 7:10 on a Tuesday, google has them open til 9-they we’re closed. Very rude woman there would not tell us why they were closed. Have eaten there before very expensive !
Delicious food! The price was so high though - $75 to feed a family of four. And they didnt sing our order :(
Rude staff and nature burger is awful. My boyfriend liked the home burger.
Very expensive and not very good. Also they do not sing your order like they did in the past to justify the price.
Licks still keeps it like an old fashioned burger place and the staff was super friendly. Even had that "guck" to top of a great garden burger!
One of the best burgers you can get!
Licks Burgers is our favourite pitstop when we go camping at Grundy Lake Provincial Park! So much delicious food! Large portions. Fresh toppings. Peamale bacon. And the loaded poutine... With garlic sauce... And bacon... Just eat it. Its worth every bite.
Was so looking forward to a burger, but hours posted on google are wrong. Was closed by 8 pm on Sunday
I usually get the chicken fingers and fries which are great. Last time I went there they had no chicken fingers which sucked, so I had to get a burger and when I asked for my sauces she basically put the whole bottle of mustard on my burger. All I could taste was mustard I couldnt even eat more then half . My boyfriend also ordered a burger with bacon but they didnt tell us it was Canadian bacon ... so he ended up picking it all out and it was ucouple dollars extra too on top of it already costing $41 for 2 burgers and one fry... So overall my experience was not great. Service is great the employees are always nice and very fast. But the older lady who made my mustard burger was super grumpy & not inviting.
I stop here everytime I drive by, and they never disappoint. Great burgers and fries and always good service. Wish the one in Sudbury didnt close down
Fries are to die for best Ive ever had ❤️❤️
Service at this location is a 5*We ate here twice in one weelend- once on the way to camping and once on the way back. The service was fast and friendly both times. We were so surprised how quick we got our food considering how busy it was. They have a great system of working together. It was very impressive watching them work together. The food is sooooo good. Always get the Guk sauce on everything, you wont regret it. The only reason for my 4 * rating is the price. We didnt get drinks and it was $41 for 2 of us to eat.
Big juicy burger, and very tasty when loaded with my favourite toppings. Would come back if only they weren’t so far north.
Good size burgers especially when you add cheese and bacon
Terrible food, the chili was the most disgusting thing Ive ever tasted did not get the cheese I paid for my husband ordered a chili cheese dog did not get cheese and the bun had mold on it when you pay $74 and get Terrible food there a problem! Will NEVER STOP here again!
Super good burgers and fries. A bit expensive, but worth it if you want to treat yourself.
Burger and fries were fantastic.Prices for a combo were outrageous, the worst Ive seen anywhere.Burger, fries and a drink for $16 is just laughable. The pay machine asks for a tip. If you want a higher wage, ask the owner/boss. Dont offend me by asking for a tip, when youre making burgers and fries. Im getting sick and tired of retail employees asking for a tip at a fast food restaurant. Youre not serving me at a table and checking in on how my meal is going, so drop this nonsense.
Good stop for a burger off the highway.Nice sized burgers here. Good bun as well. More costly than your cheaper fast food burger but worth the money based on quality. We usually just get the burger instead of the meal because it is quite filling. Service is great as well.
Menu was a little hard to read as the screens kept flickering. The food was very good but the price jump of 8$ for the burger to 15 for the combo seemed like a bit much.
Delicious!!! Meat only filled 3/4 of the sandwich, so the last quarter was just bread, sauce, and veggies!
I usually dont like to do this but holy man was the food ever bad. The burger itself is about half the size of the bun and the whole burger is about 85% cold toppings. I dont mind pickles, but three huge pickles on this burger compared to the tiny patty felt like I was eating a pickle sandwich. I couldnt even finish it. I usually stop here when driving through so I finally wanted to try it out but I wont be doing so ever again. Also $22 total for two of these awful burgers so very overpriced. Would prefer A&W or Wendys over this any day
Food was great but the 6 dollar milkshake ruined it for me. Hardly blended, ended up with a cup of ice cream. Save yourself the trouble and grab a milkshake nextdoor at dq.
Great place for burgers. Got the home burger with onion rings and I thought the cost was a bit high until I got it. Was 4 times the size of a regular fast food joint and also waaaay better. Great selection of toppings and very friendly staff.
Pretty decent burgers for a fast food place. Harveys style toppings selection process. As good a place as any to stop on your way up north. Throughput not as fast as somewhere like a McDonalds so it can get backed up when its busy.
The last remaining Licks in operation, what was once an empire founded on excellent juicy burgers has dwindled down to this final spot. It still serves amazing homeburgers and fries/rings and shakes. This location has kind of become the ritual meal before paddling out into killarney or french river provincial parks. Come taste the burger before it disappears into history.
I had never been to Licks before this day. My wife had fond memories growing up and eating at Licks, she said this was the last one in Canada and we happened to be in the area so we had to go. I would say the burgers are very well done. You get to pick your toppings but be warned, you will need two hands, lots of napkins and a plate as it will get very messy. The milkshake was ok, similar to a Wendys frosty but more expensive. Sadly they didnt have any of their desserts as I guess they have scaled back to be more like a fast food restaurant. I would go back only if in the area, I would not make a 2 hr drive just for it.
Definitely not worth the stop unless youre absolutely hungry and can eat anything. Had the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. Onion rings way over cooked and burger was almost like rubbery when you bit into it. Also heavy on the black pepper seasoning.
Appears to be run down and feels cheap. Drive through signage appears to be broken.Didnt have what was on the menu, in fact they had no idea what I was talking about.Milkshake made with the cheapest icecream they could get.Onion rings were good, lots of onion and nice and crispy.
Burger was excellent but... when did you last change the fry oil? Onion Rings were very dark... had 1 then threw the rest in the garbage. This location has always had great, light rings, so time to step up & change the oil.
Food delicious. Vegan burger with ample toppings tailored to your tastes. Turkey gobbler and other burgers. Onion rings added a nice crunch. Took dogs for walk around area as great place to stretch them.
The food is okay but not great. I ordered a poutine with extra gravy, and there was only a small amount of gravy on the top. The rest of the fries were completely dry. I had to go back and ask for more gravy, which they then charged me extra for. It also cost me $15 for one poutine and a Nestle Pure Life bottle of water, which I felt was overpriced. The service was good, though. And its a nice place to stop if youre traveling.
Having worked at a Licks, beaches in Toronto, as a part time job, it was not what I remembered it to be. The quality of food was average at best. Theres was not a a lot of signing. The prices were way to high for a family of four. Could have gone to a sit down restaurant and paid a little more for a better meal.Sorry to have to scratch this off my list of places to go.
Great place to stop and eat. Large parking lot for RVs and trailers with a beautiful lake across the street.
On Friday my 4 year old son and I stopped at licks for a burger and fries pop combo. Im 52 years old and I must say the microwave burger was half the size of my bun. And my 4 year old some kids hamburger meal was 16$ with no toy. But we both got raw french fries. Out burgers were so bad that we through them out instantly.... Wow. Never again. It was "Terrible", wow BAD.
Stopped in for a gas up and a burger on the way to Killbear. Tons of easy parking with a trailer in tow. Theres a fantastic nature area right next to the parking lot for a quick stretch for both peeps and their dogs.😎And, burger was fantastic!
Always a great burger but sometimes they under cook the fries. Hence the 3 star review. The burger gets 5 stars, fries get 2. Maybe it was a fluke. I will try again another time.
Licks is a really great burger joint. The burgers are very good here, as well as the fries. You definitely get your moneys worth here as the portion size is pretty big. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Licks is located within a travel center and has a nearby gas station. Its the perfect stop over just outside of parry sound. With custom made burgers and fresh fries, it is the kind of savory food that the whole family can enjoy. The kitchen is clean, staff are friendly, and the options are many. Theres something for everyone and is always on my list of stops travelling the TransCanada highway.
First time customer. A good charbroiled hamburger and a generous amount of poutine with tasty gravy. And overall great experience and a welcomed rest stop on my way to Sault Ste Marie. Staff was nice to me as I didnt know what to get and helpful.
A bit overpriced and the burger patty itself was pretty tasteless. But options are seriously limited in this area and having a snowmobile trail head straight here along with a timmies and Petro Canada in the same parking lot, its very convenient after a long day of riding.
Expensive, and the burger was alright. It was really big, the bun was fresh, but for the cost wouldnt ever go back. Theres a burrito stand and Tim Hortons in the same location. Could get 2-3 sandwiches for the price of a burger. My friend said the best thing about it was the crushed ice from the soft drink machine. I agreed.
Decent burger place, apparently the last surviving Licks. Their burgers are good but their fries are absolutely amazing. The poutine is huge but unfortunately does not use cheese curds just shredded cheese. The wait can sometimes get long in the summer.
This was the first dinner I had with my now life king partner/husband/best friend. The nature burgers are unbelievable. The service is great. The last we were here the cashier found it funny how we kept on asking for extra spicy items. Our experience here for 9 years has been exceptional. I recomend people stop here on their wait to their cottage. You might find your other half here in addition to delicious burgers, onion rings and friendly service.
I have not had a Licks burger in more than 15 years and when I saw the sign from the highway was determined we would stop on our next trip through. Those burgers do NOT disappoint - as good as I remember. My husband and I both remarked that, now that we live back in Ontario, we will make a point of making the 3 hour ride north on our motorcycles to enjoy a Licks Burger. And thank you Denise for your great service and for being front and centre serving customers alongside your employees during this uncertain time. Nice reminiscing with you.
If you are really hungry I would suggest stopping here however if you can wait an extra 10 minutes driving through Parry Sound, stop at exit 224 as there are more restaurants/fast food places. I ordered chicken fingers and fries and it cost $15. The chicken fingers were hard and burnt however they did make me new ones when I requested. Average food.
Fries were good. I got a nature burger wrap they gave me tons of toppings the burger was old and dried up. Also got a fruit cup and the blue tries tasted like sponge weirdest taste ever. Very disappointing considering we spent 40Bucks. Staff and cashier was incredible though nice polite very great!!
Portions too small. Cost too big. Taste and quality adequate. Once you consider the price you will feel completely ripped off. If you are travelling on the 400 plan ahead to skip Licks and stop in Port Severn for Hero Burger instead. Youll get better taste, more food, and spend a lot less money.
