Liberty Sculpture Park - Sculpture museum in Barstow Heights, United States
Amazing, inspiring, and powerful.
Very interesting and always something new to see.
Liberty Sculpture Park is free but please consider making a donation as it helps support the artists. This was a great 20 minute stop off the freeway when passing through Yermo.
Great monument. Beautiful and well made. I recommend 4 wheel drive for those planning to visit.
Interesting place. Learned a few things about the CCP.
A pretty incredible place. Make sure your car can handle off-road situations. Please be respectful of the history they are trying to preserve.
A little hard to find but we got it
Awesome and good information about whats going on in our country
So interesting! Stop here!
A little confusing on how to actually get there but we figured it out after driving on a dirt road for a little bit. This is an interesting exhibit. One piece was destroyed and looked burnt sad to think someone or even a group would destroy someones expressionIt was amazing and equally sad to read about his story and learn about his experiences. If your looking for something different and want to venture out I recommend seeing the art pieces.
Wonderful experience. It was great to read some of the writings and see how people really felt when uncensored.
Really cool attraction close to Peggy Sues Diner in SW California off the I-15 going to Las Vegas. Offers a variety of sculptures by different artists. Its outside with no shade so be prepared.
It has been 33 years since June 4th. What would this country be like without the sound of gunfire that night?
The entrance is on calico rd. Google took me to a neighborhood. Smooth dirt road no issues.
Amazing and detailed art to current events in Asia
This is a really cool installation with a purpose, to draw attention to the freedom movement for democracy in China. Do some reading on the web before you visit because unfortunately there is not a lot of information displayed at the installation. If you’re traveling along I-15, it’s only about a five minute detour off the freeway and in my opinion is totally worth it.
Nice place next to interstate its ok if u got the time but nothing special
Liberty Sculpture Park is a great place to stop in Yermo near Barstow. It is located right off of the freeway and you can see all the sculptures in about 10-15 minutes. A great place to stop and stretch the legs if driving through the desert, and see some art and learn some history.
Liberty Sculpture Park is a tribute to democracy. The Sculptures found here represent various historical facts many Americans are not familiar with including details of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).This location is an easy car drive through on a rather well maintained dirt road or you can park and walk around which I think enhances the experience and gives greater appreciation for the details in the art. 🎨🕐We spent easily close to an hour as we visited each statue and I learned about this history of oppression but it could have been a quick 15 minutes otherwise.💰Although this park is free, donations are encouraged, especially since they experienced vandalism for making their political statements.Picnic benches and covered seating is available but limited.🚻 No Restrooms onsite.
Lots of effort put into this spot. Thr artists clearly have passion for displays. Nice to see
Great place to visit if youre an historically illiterate redditor!
Such a gem in the dessert, I’m so touched to see this park existed. A must visit place!!!
Freedom of expression. Sculptures of Tainanmen tank man, Hong Kong time revolution display.
A must visit on your way to Vegas or Peggy Sue. With or without the political undertones, the art installation itself is worth the extra time and short detour
The artist spoke to Wonderhussy and brought me here to view. I honor your fight for freedom of speech brother !!
I would recommend seeing these interesting sculptures. If youre driving by them Eastbound on Hwy 15 or if stopping at Peggy Sues Diner, I would recommend to take as few as 10min or longer and check them out. Its an easy-in, easy-out drive thru the park experience on maintained dirt roads. Located just down the same road, east of the PS restaurant approx one mile.Im glad we stopped, very impactful and historical facts I wasnt aware of!
Sculpture park on the way to Zion Utah. Sculptures depicting the communist party
Neat stop on the way to Vegas. Just be careful not to bottom out your vehicle driving to the site.
I was at a loss for a while to justify this trip because unfortunately there isn’t that much in this side of California. That said. After coming, this place is breathtaking. The time and energy put into the individual art pieces is obvious. The scales are amazing too. A lot larger than in person. Recommend coming when it’s sunny (I came in overcastbecause the colors really are super vibrant in the sunlight.Be sure to give yourself at least an hour, maybe two hours to relax, explore, and take in the individual exhibits. Also has picnic tables too. Please keep this place clean because it literally is a gem.
Loved the place, people is super nice, super cute ladies dressed as the 1800s
Whackadoodle Park!
Interesting place to visit. Took me a little bit to figure out it was a protest against the Chinese Communist Party. Did learn some things.
This art display is relatively new, you can almost miss it while driving north on I-15 to Baler from Yetmo let alone the huge distracting ice cream sundae right next to the park.It is worth the stop and spending the time to view the artistry and read about each piece.Humbling experience and proud that I live in a country where freedom of expression is acceptable No matter the personal opinion on the subject matter we are able to express ourselves freely without persecution.
It’s good place for the people who love freedom and democracy
Very amazing sculptures to remember what totalitarianism has been done in Hong Kong and China. Remembering the people fought against it with bravery. China is trying to erase and brainwash those history. This is a place of the truth telling. Must visit if you believe in freedom and democracy. Say NO to communism!
Worth to visit.Artworks are awesome.Hope they will create a little bit more artworks.
What an awesome place! Love the message it sends and enjoyed learning about their mission. Great day with my kiddos!
This place is ok. It just needed for explanations on the subject
Definitely worth a visit! Entry to the park is on Yermo road about half mile off the road. I walked in but you can drive in. Plenty of room to turn around when you get in close to the sculptures.
Its a beautiful place. Its needs to have paved road access. Not dirt roads. People needs to stop damaging the art work. We saw that someone ripped out the cannon from a tank on the walk. My sister put back where it belongs. It was AWESOME to see this.
Beautiful experience but it would be nicer if there was a paved road and paved parking..ended up with a super dirty car!
Beautiful place. Passed many times on the drive between L.A. and Las Vegas; glad I finally had time to stop.
Weird sculpture park in the desert. Sculptures dedicated to freedom in China, and Tianamin square. Not recommended for rental cars.
Seen this park driving to Alamo Fireworks but passed it on the 15frwy. Made sure I stopped by on my way back. Entrance was a little rough since its offroad but thats what makes it fun. Alot of history in these sculptures and great photo opportunities.
I hate this place I feel it should have been put some where else , .like Half way to Vegas where no one lives. I feel like its made Yermo a target!!!!!!!!!!! Just saying!!!!!!!!!
Amazing and thankful for someone keeping history alive! There is a dirt road access on Yermo blvd, would recommend for a quick stop to see
Hard to find. I missed the entrance, then I came back to see the sign finally.
Hard to find, huge disappointment I wish they would really honor the 64 the way they deserve to be honored. An unknown number of students died in the hands of the army and I wish more artists would partake in honoring these students the way they deserve!
Its okay, its a interesting place.
The first sculpture erected in this park is a symbol of the American freedom fighter- a native American leader “Crazy Horse”. He fought for his people against the White man’s oppression. The second sculpture is Li Wangyang, a Chinese pro-democracy martyr, a prisoner from 1989 Chinese democracy revolution. In an interview before his death, he said “I will not turn back my head even if it means losing it”The third sculpture is “64”. It’s a memorial to all the victims and survivors of June 4, 1989 Beijing Tian’anmeng Square massacre. The CCP regime wishes people forgive and forget. But we will never. The two huge shining numbers are our testimony and vow.On Jun 3, 2019, sculpture of Tank Man bravely stood in front of and obstruct a column of tanks on Changan Street after the 89 massacre was unveiled next to the 64 sculpture. Tank Man has been the most iconic image of the time. Also, the crime culprits Deng Xiaoping and Li Peng receive their punishment in this park. We have escorted the two kneeling sculptures on the night of Jun 3. The two might never receive conventional trials thru court system, but they are now serving the eternity sentence under the sky.The sculptures connect all visitors on the basis of civil liberty, human rights, the struggle of all oppressed and the fighting spirit of the brave. All are welcome. The Park admission is free. The park is privately owned. Volunteers are needed for more sculptures and art projects. The owners Twitter accounts:Sculpture Artist and owner: Weiming Chen @CHENWEIMING2017Owner: Y. Li @yunzhongdatongOwner: J. Wu @sifan198964
