Liberty Korean Market - Korean Food Shop in Lynchburg, United States
Liberty Korean Market in Lynchburg
Description
Privilege
My boyfriend and I came here for the first time recently. I think it’s the only place in Lynchburg to get Korean food. It was takeout only the day we went. The food was really good! And at such a great price. The owner was very nice as well. We grabbed some snacks, drinks, and a tub of kimchi while we were at it. All great. We did notice a For Sale sign on the front door. Curious if the store will be closing or moving. Hopefully it’s the latter, but I know the pandemic has taken its toll on many. Make sure you head over to support this Asian owned small business while you can!
MoreFantastic fresh food and plenty to look at while waiting for your meal to be made. Really delicious and balanced meal, I cant wait to go back!
MoreLove this place. Its unsuspecting and has great food, theyre as kind as can be, and have the best kimchi. They have a mini mart of asian specialty foods that are hard to find anywhere else. My favorite might be the quart of kimchi you can buy to bring home.
MoreInteresting shop. Bought some ramen here that was delicious and the hottest thing Ive eaten in a long time. Also got some takeout that wasnt the worst Korean Ive eaten.
MoreMay look a little sketchy from the outside but had a fairly decent Bulgogi & Kimchi dish! Its been years since I had Korean food after traveling the world as an U.S. Army private while overseas 🍛🍜🥠🥟
MoreDelicious. Good value and the food is as good as a 5 star restaurant at a fifth of the price.
MoreGreat little store! Wish there was more variety but definitely my go to in the area for my korean ice cream and 삼겹살 fix!
MoreKinda sad how there is only one korean resteraunt im lynchburg so i Always stop by here and There to suport them. I get there bulgolgi the owners are so nice and their food is tasty as well. You can also go in and its like a little store as well to buy snacks, icecream, drinks, ramyun, etc... highly reccomend!!!
MoreI love shopping and eating here! If you’ve never tried Korean sushi, you most definitely should- and the try to make it yourself! The staff are all so friendly and the food is delicious.
MoreLove eating here!! Its so much healthier than getting takeout from a fast food joint. And its always interesting to walk around and see the different foods for sale. I might start shopping here if I ever want to make some home made authentic Asian food!
MoreThe owner is super nice, the food is almost 100% authentic. They have some foods you cant find in typical Korean restaurants. This is a great spot if you are absolutely about that Korean life.진짜 한국 음식이 있어요! 좋아해요~
MoreWonderful! If you like Korean food this place is the BEST! We got the kimchi stew and spicy pork and it was amazing. Dont let the building deter you. This small place is a jem and can do orders to go. Great dry stock and frozen grocery too.
MoreReally enjoyed the Authentic Korean Food. So glad we have this restaurant in Lynchburg. Good amount of Korean food products in store also. Will be here often. Love it!!!
MoreGreat tasting food and great selection of grocery products to buy. This is a very traditional Korean market, nothing extravagant or fancy (but thats the way I like it). This is NOT a Korean BBQ restaurant that has BBQ tables, just in case anyone was wondering. Nonetheless, the food is OUTSTANDING. The kimbap tastes exactly like how my family members make it. The spicy pork and spicy octopus dishes are probably my favorite. The owners are extremely friendly and help make the experience all the better. Would give more stars if I could!
MoreThe best Korean I’ve had in a while, kimchi stew was amazing.
Food was okay - I wanted the stew with seafood, but received it with beef, it wasn’t a big deal, so I didn’t say anything. They didn’t have drinks on the menu. The appetizers - eggs, tofu and kimchi they brought before the meals were good.Owner was friendly and the service was good. However, the restaurant was so hot! They had a window AC, but it didn’t do much. To my surprise, it was much cooler once we walked out. Also, the toilet was dirty, sink was nasty, there wasn’t any paper towel or hand dryer.
MoreThis place is awesome. My boyfriend and I were trying to find groceries to cook Korean food and ended up stumbling in here. They serve the best dumplings I have ever had and everyone is very nice; even taught us a few phrases. Its now my favorite takeout place. Its a mini food market AND a lovely restaurant.
MoreReally great food. I had the number 14 and my girlfriend had the number 2 and we both loved it.the owner is incredibly nice and the place also has a great little market. Highly recommend!
MoreGood food. Nice little market. Only Korean cuisine in Lynchburg.
Nice small Oriental grocery store. The food that I have had at this restaurant was good.
MoreFantastic homemade Korean food. Really amazing. Excellent prices. The owner has made the tables, the chairs the walls, everything!!! You get three free small appetizers: tofu I. Sauce, incredibly good fish cakes that look like thick noodles, and kimchi. I lives the place.
Morecan’t stop coming here, the food is absolutely amazing! also has a very nice atmosphere and great service👌🏽👌🏽
MoreThis is a cool little place. The owner is such a nice and welcoming man. The food is really good and authentic (I think). Would definitely recommend
MoreA Korean restaurant in Lynchburg? Yes, and thank you! The spicy pork was well prepared and tasty, but I wish the kimchi was a bit spicier. The service was friendly and I look forward to going back to try the bi bim bap and bulgogi!
MoreI cant believe I didnt know about this place until today! It has a grocery part with dry goods and a refrigerator section with restaurant all in the same room. No crazy smells this place was clean and pleasant. I ordered the #1 Spicy pork sauteed with peppers and onion and it was AMAZING. It came with great sticky white rice which made eating with chop sticks simple. It also had 3 sides with it, a tofu dish, cold kimchi, and something I didnt care for. At $8.99 it was a bargain for the flavor, quality, and quantity! I bought a quart of kimchi to take home and a 2x Spicy Chicken Ramen pack. I cant wait to explore the rest of the menu. Im used to high end grill at your table Korean bbq restaurants in major cities and this did not disappoint at all!
MoreKorean food is always great if you are into it. Half restaurant, half supermarket. Basic restaurant menu.
MoreFood was not very good at all, even the rice was hard and crunchy in spots. We were really excited to try it but we wont be back again sadly
MoreLiberty Korean Market is a hidden gem...if youre into that sort of thing.Im not a big fan of much of the food sold in this off the beaten path market/restaurant, but my wife is.When I first found the store, I felt like I was walking into a shop somewhere in NY city. Not Manhattan, mind you, but one of those places open super late on the corner of one of the boroughs. Its not modern or fancy, but theres just something quaint and charming about finding some place like this here in Lynchburg. The staff is friendly and dont laugh, in my face at least, when I mispronounce a menu item. For all your seaweed wrap and gimbap needs, look no further than Liberty Korean Market!
MoreOutstanding! This is authentic Korean food that is cooked with love and precision. I hope more folks visit this gem
MoreThis little gem features authentic Korean food and groceries. The customer service is excellent, and there is a comforting and homey atmosphere that cannot be found at a chain restaurant.
MoreGood food, people are always very kind and welcoming. We always enjoy Korean food, and enjoy trying Korean ingredients as well. Try their jarred teas, spicy tuna (makes yummy sushi), sweet potatoes, or rice. Makes for fun cooking adventures!
MoreI was looking for a korean restaurant near by. And found this little market, with a small restaurant in it. I was pleasantly surprised, it was So GOOD!! I will definitely be returning.
MoreThis place was amazing! The owners of this shop were very nice and even gave an extra serving of kimchi after I finished it off. I live in Danville and I hate this place isnt closer. I have to get back to this place.
MoreFood quality is not great! Ok place to buy some korean frozen food but NOT for dine-in
MoreVery good food. My husband loves Korean food after getting back from South Korea and he says its very similar! It says its a market but they dont sell much besides rice and sauces. The employees are very sweet and the restaurant has a comfy atmosphere. Will come here again for sure.
MoreAs an American observing the recent Olympics in South Korea I wanted to try some South Korean cuisine. At the recommendation of a friend who very much likes Liberty Korean mart I went there. Not knowing the culture or what to expect I was pleasantly surprised by the adequate seating. This was a Sunday afternoon and so there did appear to only be one gentleman running the whole shop, but he was doing a fine job of that. The most important thing was the food was excellent and I will be going there again. I even picked up ingredients to make some of my own homemade kimchi hopefully it will come out as well as theirs.
MoreGood selection of Korean products in their market area, and good food and attentive service in their sit-down dining area. Recommend being prepared however when a server comes to take your order as they move quickly.
MoreWhat a great find of Asian taste in this tiny town of Lynchburg. We ordered soondubu jjigae (tofu soup), gimbap (seaweed roll), bibimbap, pork bulgogi, and the ox soup. They were all delicious. Some other Korean places Ive tried sometimes lack that meat stock taste. Their banchan (small side disheswere home made and they were all, especially the tofu, were really good. They definitely deserve more foot traffic in here.
MoreI love both the restaurant and the grocery. The dol sot bibim bop and the kimchi was delicious.
MoreGreat little tiny Korean restaurant inside of a tiny store. A different experience, especially if you are used to dinning at the big mega chain places. Glad little places like this can make it. Oh, and the food is wonderful as well.
MoreThe restaurant has really good food. Most of the dishes are 9 dollars, which is well worth it. Recommendation: #5 bulgogi.
MoreCame back here for second day in a row just before leaving to our home state. This place is awesome! The food is just delicious! Will miss it! Recomended!!! The owners are very nice, very welcoming! Great Service! Thanks a lot!! :)
MoreLove Korean food!! Kimchi was excellent and Bulgogi had wonerful flavor!!
Having been to some fantastic Korean places (including the highest rated Korean restaurant in Brooklyn), I have to say that this one stacks up quite favorably. The menu is simpler but the food is very well done and the atmosphere is wonderful.
MoreIf you need any Korean products, this is the best place in Lynchburg to find them. They also have a wide variety of made-to-order take out options to choose from.
MoreGreat authentic Korean food. Very kind owners. My husban & I come here often and it never disappoints!
MoreBest food ever! havent had Korean food in a long time but this the best Ive ever had!
MoreGreat food, and wonderful selection of rare items needed for Asian recipes.
My friends and I go here at least once every few weeks. Even as a broke freshman, its very affordable ($7 to 12 range for a good entree)! The Korean cuisine is as genuine as it gets, but with the friendly, helpful staff and bi-lingual menu, it is still completely accessible to poor caucasian college students like us. From bulgogi to jjammpong to just plain old rice, everything is excellent and should taste like home if youre familiar with Korean food. Also, if you like Korean packaged food, its not just a restaurant; it is also a fully stocked Korean supermarket, with every packaged Korean food item you can imagine.5/5, would fully recommend.
MoreMy husband and I love Korean Food. As this is the only restaurant in town, we gave it a try. It is simple and they do not have an extensive menu but what we got was delicious and inexpensive. There was traditional foods such as bulgogi, be bin bap and lots of soups. They also have a grocery store for Korean and other countries items.
