Leura NSW 2780, Australia, Katoomba
Recreation area featuring a network of walking tracks to several small waterfalls & cliff views.
Huge place to have picnic , nice environment and view
Because of some road closures it was a long trek from Gordon Road. And the toilets were closed!
Cliff Drive access via road is still closed due to landslide 2019/20.The area has been partially repaired but best to park at Resolute Restaurant and walk to wheelchair access and walk to cascades The other alternative again park at restaurant and follow map posted to enjoy a bushwalk and walk to base of CascadesOne can see that area not visited that often but people have boon as bins full of rubbish. Please note no toilets open and no swings for children available as not replaced.Personally I enjoyed the quietness if it a and I even saw of all things a duck hope it found its way home
Strong cascades at the waterfall, views from a nice point
Beautiful little spot, and easily accessible to those with reduced mobility. A real gem. Lovely falls, great picnic spots. Doesnt feel as "wild" or "unspoilt" as there is landscaping and improved paths, but ease of access and facilities def make up for it. Good spot for locals - if not quite what visitors are looking for
Beautiful stop but unfortunately it was no completely accessible due to recent storms.
Loved the cascades. Some pretty hairy bits on the walk and quite steep but just gorgeous
Fabulous bush walking area
Really good place for not much walk, cannot even call it a hike, a proper road to walk on with pretty views, lovely waterfall.
Loved it think we started at the wrong end as it wasnt easy. Lots of steps and two ladder things but was worth the pain
Very pretty spot. You need to walk in at the moment as the road is closed. You can view the upper Cascades nearby.
Really nice area yo visit abit of walking involved which is good as these areas get really popular these days and maybe the walk keeps some people away. Great bushwalks abit of up and down tho.
Easy walking track with kids surrounded by beautiful nature.Less than 1 hour walk with sounds of water, wind and nature that made me very relaxed.A place to visit with kids for sure.
Beautiful walk from Katoomba, however, the walking track is closed from half way due to landslide and work needed to be done by National Parks & Wildlife Dept. There is a detour to get to Leura, but not to Leura Cascades.
Very busy, lots of kids, quick walk down the cliff to the pool abs waterfall, very muddy after rain
It was closed due to some road works, but a resident told us that there is a walkway and can walk towards the picnic area. We had to walk 15-20 minutes to the picnic area under the blazing sun. It looks abandoned and desolated. The grasses were tall, bunch of dried leaves everywhere.
Its a bit unfair to give 2 stars without visiting the place, but thats exactly the issue: we went over the Christmas holidays only to find the place closed. Apparently there are some roadworks going on so you need to walk/trek 10-15 min to get there. Not easy with small kids and the directions were confusing. Im sure it will reopen soon enough and then Ill be able to add a few more stars.
Awesome all family should go
Water soothes the soul, and cools the feet ! Such a nice place to let the water wash away your worries...
Pleasent enough, just not really comparable to some of the much more impressive sights of the mountains.Often has people car camped illegally and a theres construction currently - Jan20.The walks down to the cascades are worth the walk to get away from the picnic area!
Beautiful spot, quiet mid week. So good the local council team was having lunch there
One of the most beautiful places I have been. It has easy walking tracts, snaking through the rainforests. I marvelled at the huge rocks, they look ancient. So lush and green, overall a very picturesque and fascinating walk.It has several waterfalls bridges and a cave along the way. The views from the lookouts are just breathtaking. The fog when we went there just added to the mystery and charms of the place. The picnic area has all the usual amenities and facilities.
Amazing place with breathtaking landscapes!!!
Picnic area isnt too big but the views are stunning. Worth a stop if you can
Lovely place for a nice picnic and some exercise while taking in the sites.
Beautiful National Park! Winter is good season for hiking.
Good area for picnics worthy good facilities for families. Decent cascading waterfalls, not big or high are all.
Beautiful walk and well maintained pathway. Vista at the bottom of the falls is amazing! Very busy on weekends.
Great place for walk. Great view of Cascade falls. Be aware that there a many steps. You should be moderately fit before going down to falls. No wheel chair access that I could see.
This place feels so close to nature. The dense forest, the water falls, flowers and much more. There are picnic spots, kids swings and toilets for visitors.Parking is limited but can be found easily with a little walk from the main point. The walk downwards to various water falls is breath taking .Remember going down is easy and climbing back checks your strength. This is a must visit place if you are going to blue mountains. The main street of Leura is worthy to get some famous chocolates, soveniours and food.Enjoy and feel the nature !
Love this spot and have been there a few times now. The cascades itself isnt that big but you can get right into the water with the water forming a small shallow pool at the bottom for the kids to play in if they want. Word of caution though the surrounding rocks are quite slippery due to the constant flow of water and you are in for a hard landing on your bottom if you are not careful. There is a good and quite picnic spot also but parking is limited to about 15 cars and gets full really quick on good days
Worth the visit, amazing view, great picnic spots, ample parking, and good spot for photos.
It is a walk of 15-20 min down the hill all along the cascades. It has quite a few steps so please be mindful if you have difficulty in climbing steps. The views of the cascade all the way is really great and the final lookout is just beautiful. This final lookout is not visible but it is just a few metres if you keep going after the end of cascades.
Walk into the car park and find the toilet block walk to the left and you will see an information board walk past that and it takes you down to the falls. Well worth the walk. After the walk there is a garden area where there are park benches where you can have lunch.
Excellent tourist spot. Beautiful scenery. Ample parking toilet and picnic facilities available.
What a lovely place to stop for a picnic lunch on our way back home from the Blue mountains. I only wish Id had my better camera to take photos worthy of printing. Ill surely be back again to see if I can capture views of the cascade in different light and time of day.
A nice and quite place. Easily accessible by public transport, this area does not see too many tourists. But those who skips this place, probaly miss the best place of blue mountain. Do not end your journey at cascade and vist the fountain. If possible you may go further down and visit tiwards leura forest and towards giant stairway.
Leura Cascades Walk and Leura Cascades Picnic AreaLeurabushwalk, creek, waterfall, picnic area, picnic tables, swings, flush toilets, free parking, 2WD accessStarting from the picnic area near the toilets, this is an easy 30min walk along a gentle sloping track which follows the creek down to the cliff edge.On the way there is a small cavern where you can sit and watch the water flowing over the rocks.Chelmsford Drive (off Cliff Drive)#happylittlevegemitedotonline #bluemountainswithkids
Most enjoyable after good rains... the whole track is a good walk.
Option of short walks or long walks. Beautiful sights and nice water features. Someone built a small stone tower which made for a nice surprise.
Nice short walk to the waterfall, really pretty area
Very beautiful. Great picnic area. Plenty of parking area. Toilets and fantastic tracks through the Bush admire the wildlife and the scenery and the best of part the little water falls and at the end of the track looking out over at the mountains. So beautiful.
A nice place had to come back again as it limited parking 75 steps to the lower cascades it has two swings for the kids and public toilets.
Can be slippery walking down all the stairs. Limited car parking, better off walking there.
Loved it! The track walk was great the kids enjoyed themselvesDown side is the toilet facilities were... gross not maintained the smell the kids couldnt even use it so we had to cut the day short tho drive back into town to use toilet
One of the best hiking tracks in the blue mountains. Not so many tourists and the waterfall is really nice from the bottom. I would highly recommend this track for relaxing and beautiful views.
Its a fantastic day-long hiking track with some of the beautiful and less crowded lookout to the blue mountains scenaries. Bear in mind, though, it is quite a hard trail (steep, a fair few stairs etcif you choose more difficult trails from different options getting around the walking tracks.
A small clearance next to the national park at Leura with car parking, toilets and picnic benches.
A wonderful place to relax and have a great time, highly recommend!
Really nice spot, "off the beaten track", away from the 3 Sisters and a large portion of the tourists. Theres a few different paths to take. I suggest taking the one to the Cascades because getting to the bottom is truly breath-taking.
