59 Boulevard de Belleville, 75011 Paris, France, Châtillon
Set among shops and restaurants, this colorful, modern hostel is 4 km from the Louvre museum, 5 km from the iconic, white-domed Sacré-Cœur Basilica and 8 km from the Eiffel Tower.Funky mixed-gender and female-only dorms feature free Wi-Fi, shared bathrooms, and custom-made bunk beds with lockers, blackout curtains and reading lights. Cozy private rooms have en suite facilities and coffee machines. Upgraded quarters are located on the roof. There's an eclectic bar with a wood stove and a lounge area; breakfast is available for a fee. There's also a rooftop terrace offering views of the city.
The staff were friendly at the reception and at the bar. The room was ok, but it had a weird smell. It makes a sense since there are 6 different people. The toilet was cleaned. There is only one for each floor. The hairdryer didn’t work so I had to go to the upper floor. The lunch/dinner was delicious. (Especially the Caesar salad, I order 4 times). Also the breakfast was delicious. You had two choices. I’m not quite sure of the location. It’s not so safe for the females especially if you are a solo traveller but it’s not a problem of the hostel. It’s 2min waking distance for the nearest metro station. Overall I had a pleasant stay. Merci
So, The People - Paris , is , by the most the worst hostel I have ever stayed in.I will start with the good things:The facilities are good, the beds are comfy and clean, the shower works as needed , bathroom fine aswell. The problem I believe is the stuff, the atmosphere here. Why? Because this place was meant to facilitate french people. The stuff speak broken english, they approach me in french everytime...Most of the travelers here come in groups, and Most are french. As an Israeli guy who speaks english I feel as an outsider here. Hell, even the menu here is only in french. If you dont want outsiders advertise it as a french only hostel, dont make solo travelers suffer.Beware anyone who is a solo Traveler, Im sure there are much better hostels in Paris , and I know my hostels, I have been in 8 different hostels for the past one and a half months.Btw, the loctation isnt that good as advertised. The neighborhood feels unsafe as stated in other reviews. It is close to the metro tho...
The 5* reviews werent lying. This is a great hostel. Never met so many nice people and made so many good friends in such a short time.
I stayed 5 nights in the private room on the rooftop. Belleville feels like a very unsafe neighborhood. The hostel is fine, however the bathroom smells funny and the shower head was very dirty, I dont think it has ever been cleaned. During my last night, I got so many bites that I dont know if it was just mosquitos or bed bugs too. The air conditioner was also making weird noises every once in a while disturbing our sleep. I dont recommend staying in this neighborhood is very dirty and again feels unsafe.
A fun spot to crash, popular with youthful travelers, but serious enough for us senagers to feel welcome and comfortable. Great bed in the double room with bathroom. A bit cramped but doable. They should update the lighting, the bedside lights are nearly as bright as a freight train in the Rockies. Breakfast? Not impressive, the Badass breakfast at 7 euros is nearly indistinguishable from the basic at 3 euros. As far as I can tell, the only addition was an apple and a bowl of cereal with yogurt. Overall, relative to other budget hotels I have tried in Paris, this one is a favorite if only for the large comfortable firm bed.
Lovely place, great bar and very clean, convenient hostel!
I dont expect luxury from a hostel, but I do expect cleanliness. On the surface the hostel appears clean. Most importantly, the bed sheets and mattress are clean. However, look beyond that and youll see its filthy and obviously never given a deep clean. Down the side of the lower bunk there is what must be months and months of rotten food, old socks, dirt and dust that has been allowed to collect. No wonder the room smells so musty and stuffy. My bunk had blood streaks from a squashed bug (and live mosquitoes flying about), as well as sticky finger prints all over the bed panels and window.Furthermore, the noise level is crazy. I understand on a Friday people want to party so the bar was blasting out music and the 1st floor rooms are not sound proof - I actually didnt mind that. What annoyed me was the fact that they were blasting music through the speakers in the 1st floor toilet/shower rooms. WHY?! This made the room and hallways even noisier. Its only saving grace is the location (and free wi-fi). It can feel a bit dodgy walking through there alone as a single woman at night, but so can any big city. The hostel is close to some great bars, restaurants, and tourist attractions (Père Lachaise Cemetery, for example). Id recommend hiring a bike to get around - theres quite a few Vélib bike stations a short walk away.
Bed bugs - dont stay here.I know that any hotel, Airbnb, hostel etc can get bed bugs. However, when I informed them that i was covered in bug bites after ONE night and asked them to make it right I got no response. My email was ignored.Clearly, they are aware of the issue and dont care to fix it or apologize in any way for the terrible and icky experience.
Currently has a bed bug problem. I stayed there Thursday night (Sept 22and both me and my roommates woke up covered in bites. I have noticed the hostel and they did respond they would check but have not responded yet to the photos I sent them. Hence the 3 stars
Had an amazing 4 nights at The People - Paris Belleville. Excellent location, so convenient to get the metro to anywhere in town in 1 or 2 trips. Shout out to Kirra who was amazing help, recommend bars for live music, restaurants, things to do etc. Great common room area downstairs and met more fellow solo travellers here than at any other hostel on my 3-week Europe trip.
The bar on the first floor is pretty cool I was there for karaoke night which was fun, and even if you live on the floor right above the bar you can’t hear it which is nice. Also the beds have a lot of space to store stuff on the side (more then most hostels)
Nice hotel I don’t like the entrance looks like a bar so not halal mode
I really liked the vibes at this hostel. Everyone was super cool. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. I recommend getting a bed in a room on the rooftop. Totally worth it for the view and the quieter terrace area. I will definitely stay again in the future.
If I get to visit Paris again I will 100% stay at this hostel! I was really nervous visiting another country by myself and only knowing a few phrases in French. I was worried about being able to communicate and that people would find me annoying. The staff was so kind and wonderful, I had nothing to worry about. They accommodated my request for a bottom bunk and I was pleasantly surprised to find they had air conditioning, as well as a large window and small terrace in the room! The bed was spacious and very comfortable with a privacy curtain and soft bedding. I wanted to extend my stay but couldn’t due to other travel plans. The atmosphere was wonderful all-around! Showers/toilets were clean and easily accessible. The coffee and breakfast were tasty. The location is great and close to the metro, as well as many cafés. I really hope to return!
Very nice room with a good view. The staff working there were very kind and have great recommendations for stuff to do around the city. The badass buffet was tasty too.
not well located, nice beds with shelves, shower is good. with shelves. Met very fun people there.
Agoda sadly messed up our booking and it didn’t reach the hostel. On the day of the arrival, we were informed that we couldn’t get the rooms we booked. Nevertheless, the staff did their best to get each of us (group of 5an accommodation and we agreed to the compromise. It was not the way we intended, but in the end everything worked out perfectly and they gave us vouchers for free breakfast additionally for making the check-in a little complicated. The rooms were clean, the AC was set a little too cold though (I returned home with a cold). The shared bathrooms were fine. Lighting is a little dark, sometimes the toilet was a bit smelly and the shower rooms were a little small. The location was alright. You have two métro options near you: Belleville and Couronnes. The neighborhood was very local, though I’d say it could be dangerous for a single person, especially for a woman, to walk alone at night, so be careful and cautious. You have multiple grocery stores like Franprix near the hostel and also some good restaurants and boulangeries/brasseries.What I liked about the hostel was the people that stayed there. All over the world, very open minded people, I got to make amazing connections and there’s always weekly activities such as karaoke every Monday. If you’re scared of being alone, especially as a solo-traveller, don’t be. You’ll find your people!Overall I’d give this experience 7/10 stars. We stayed for 5 days, 4 nights.
I dont usually write a review but I am making an exception to warn you.I never stayed at a hostel before but I booked the private rooftop room with one bed and bathroom. Looked great, great view, nice room.I awoke the next morning with my face covered in bug bites!! I inspected the mattress and saw evidence which could be bed bugs! I told the front desk and he said it was probably mosquitoes which it wasnt because I would have known if mosquitos bit me 10 times on the face and my room was sealed with air conditioning.I wrote the hotel an email to inform them and hope they sterilize that room and get a new mattress and their response was "Aw thanks for your feedback, were sorry for the problem you encountered".Dont stay in room 603.
Cool place, there’s a cool rooftop and a bar and it’s a generally chill atmosphere here. The rooms are pretty nice too, except for that one guy in my room who was snoring haha, I guess that’s just something to expect though given the nature of shared rooms.
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a good hostel on a budget. My friends and I reserved a private room and shared a bathroom. Everything was clean and felt very safe. The staff is great and the lobby/bar is great for a quick breakfast or wine and games at night meeting new people from all over the world. Thanks for a great stay!
My stay here was very good. I lived in a 8 bedroom dormitory. Its a great place to meet young people. There is also karioke every night. Its very lively. Also, the staff was very polite. All of them very helpful and kind.
One of the more comfortable hostel beds I’ve slept in! Great team and vibe. AC in bedroom!
One of the best bars in Paris! Were there every monday for the karaoke. Follow @les_mecs_cools_officiel on ig
It is really good place to stay while you are in Paris! Its clean, people is really kind and its near to metro. I liked stay there! No complains
Nice hostel, comfortable beds with light, charger sockets and curtains for privacy. But in the most high bed you need to climb, sometimes I felt like in gym. Rooms was very clean, little but comfortable. Bathroom was very clean also, no queue there. Staff are friendly and help in case of problems, that was nice. There is no kitchen in hostel( but Ive had breakfast, dinner and some drinks in bar downstairs. Everything was very tasty and good. Place is crowded with locals and tourists, but is a fun part. However the location didnt feel so safe for me. As a solo female traveler needed to keep my head down and ignore all comments and following on my way back to hostel.
Pleasant place to stay, very friendly staff. I only wish there were more amenities
clean, not the best location to city center in paris but walkable distance to metro. located around a chinatown-ish area, good assign food around, that’s an unexpected bonusa complimentary welcome drink, though it’s a small glass, still better than nothing.upper beds are hard to climb onto as the ladders are poorly designed.neighborhood gives a shady vibe.
Double room on top floor was super cozy with great views— felt like we were in a little cabin! Balcony right outside your door and very comfy bed!
Rooms and bathrooms were incredibly clean, staff were very friendly, and others were generally respectful. Belleville was a really cool area to explore with lots of independent shops, bars, and restaurants and the metro is very close for those looking to go elsewhere.
Excellent service. One of the best hostels Ive ever stayed. Romeo is the man!! Real cool dude right there.
A cosy, clean & fun hostel just 3 mins walk from Belleville metro station. There are supermarkets & pharmacy in the vicinity. Washrooms were kept in tip top condition always! Only con I would say is their mattress & pillows are a little soft for my liking. But thankfully the rooms do comes fitted with air-conditioning to tide over the early summer heat!
I would like to give this place a good review, because it has the potential to be a good place, but I did not have a good stay. I stayed here 4 nights and each night it was so hot in the room I would soak the sheets in sweat and covered in mosquito bites. I requested 3 times they turn down the temperature to little change. I then informed them one of the windows would not shut and the guy shrugged his shoulders and says, "thats a problem we have." It didnt help that the cleaning staff would come in loudly and open all the curtains turning the room into a greenhouse either. There was also only a 1 mens toilet for the entire floor, which is just gross, even though it usually looked fairly clean. I dont mind being in Belleville but if you are a solo female traveler it could seem scary. It also appears to be less of a travelers hostel and more of a hostel for locals. Nearly everyone I talked to was from Paris and in large groups, so definitely not solo traveler friendly (it is a good chance you test your french though). But the one thing that really earned them the rare one star rating is the rudeness of the hostel staff. Many of the hostel staff were not at all helpful or nice, often being unprofessional. I have been to Paris many times, in many hostels, along with many other places in France (I love France)... rarely will you meet rude people in France so long as you are respectful and kind. Some of the hostel staff give France a bad look and that really upset me. For the same price there are far better hostels, and even if they are a little bit more expensive, they are worth it. Go to the Regency Montmartre or one of the Jo&Joes instead (St. Christophers in if you just want to party, but it wont be the nicest).
Amazing place!!! Very comfortable beds with nice curtains, lamps, and lockers for each. The communal bathrooms were very clean and modern and the water pressure in the showers was amazing. The common area downstairs is very social and they host great events (karaoke Mondays :)). There’s also a patio out back and a terrace with views of the city, including the Eiffel Tower!Everyone who works there is super helpful and kind. You really feel welcomed! It was a great stay, overall.Oh and one last thing, the €8 lunch/dinner croque monsieurs are great and BIG! 3 sandwich-halves plus a salad.
The staff is always willing to help and very kind. The public spaces are amazing and really bring people together (thats where we met a lot of people and made lots of friends).
Very clean and comfortable hostel, placed nearby metro lines 2 and 11. I was able to prolong my stay for 1 extra night without big problems.
Nice place! Good beds and they had curtains to give you some privacy. Bathrooms were clean. Met some nice people during my stay!Ladders to reach the top bunk bed are quite tricky to use and not recommended for everyone.Lockers beneath bed do not come with a lock, these must be purchased separately.Would consider returning!
I had such a fantastic time here! Its a very sociable hostel, despite the fact that there is no common room or shared kitchen. The view from the roof is great, you can see the Eiffel tower and the sacré coeur. My room even had a balcony! Beds are big and tall enough that you can sit up. Curtains around beds are a bonus too. The only negative is that the bathroom light is on a timer which also controls the lights in the shower cubicles, so every time I had a shower I got plunged into darkness halfway through 😂 so it would be great if there were light sensors in the shower cubicles too 🙏 thanks for making my time in Paris so much fun!!!
Friendly staff, clean rooms, it is a bit cramped, however I was satisfied from what I paid. The roof top terrace is stunning and also the breakfast for 7 euros does the job. It is in a bit of a shanty town area but very close to the metro.
Ok hostel. Two of us stayed in a private room for 4 days in April 2022. Bed was super comfy and they cleaned our room everyday and rooms included espresso machine which was a plus. Otherwise wouldn’t say the hostel is inviting, very noisy weekends and staff aren’t all that helpful or kind, wouldn’t recommend for solo travellers. The area is great for not being too far from the centre but can be very busy and rowdy also.
The place is located in a not so fancy Parisian neighborhood in a bit rundown building, hence the reasonable prices. However the rooms are quite good and well maintained. Bathroom was surprisingly, and thankfully, spotless. The housekeeping isnt done daily but perhaps theyll replace bedsheets upon request.Basic breakfast is just coffee and croissant but the Badass one seemed sufficient. The environment is quite lively with in-house DJ and karaoke events in the night. Its right in the middle of two Metro stations, so no problem with commuting and is surrounded by cafés and restaurants, so no dearth of food options.
The staff here were friendly and helpful, even when I threw a bit of a tanty over my original, terrifying, bed. The breakfast is over-priced, but still cheaper than other venues nearby. The whole hostel is overpriced.Vitally, my original bed was several metres off the ground, and the ladder to get to it was extremely unsafe: its blocked off so only your big toes fit on it, theres nothing to hold onto, its slippery, and you have to pull some acrobatic moves to get up. I was actively scared, and when I went downstairs to ask if I could change beds, learned that others had refused to sleep in it as well. The ladders/safety issue REALLY needs to be addressed. The room also smelled really bad pretty much all the time, and the bathroom was dirty (toilets scrubbed but not cleaned, door handle covered in gunk, hair dryer broken and dangerous). The latter I reported to reception and they did have cleaning staff address it.
Hey! Room is okay, it’s a bit little, but the beds are great and there’s enough space for the lockers under the beds ;and air conditioner in the room rocks 🙌The bathrooms need to be cleaned more frequently… at night & morning they smelled really bad. Besides there are two showers (great btwand WC per floor, so please guys…Breakfast I’d have prefered to have variety over quantity. Specially when you stay over 3 nights, you want to eat more than croissants, pan au chocolait or just bread (not even cheese or eggs available 👎)Anyway, great stay. Thanks!
The hostel is extremely clean and the staffs are very friendly.Rooms are small but clean. You can draw the curtain of the bed and have your own privacy. Breakfast was reasonably priced.
It was my first time staying in a hostel and I loved the experience! Staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean (at least the one I had). The bar floor has a space that gives you a chance to meet other travelers which is amazing. Two of the metro stations are a few minutes walking distance from the hostel and you can find restaurants/ markets nearby. The only thing you should keep in mind is that the hair dryers weren’t working at all. But still, recommended! 🧡
Loved my stay here! It was very clean and the staff were all lovely. The storage in the rooms is very spacious, and the rooftop terrace is an added bonus. The breakfast is also quite nice! Les Piaules is just a few minutes’ walk away from two metro stations and has multiple restaurants nearby. I would have loved to extend my stay if I could, and definitely recommend it to anyone considering Les Piaules as an option!
I had an absolute blast! The beds were comfy and clean, The staff were very polite, they have a great espresso for the early Paris mornings, and the list goes on. Brilliant view from the top! But my favourite part was the live jazz music at the lounge. Amazing, guys! I wanna come back again and again! You are awesome!ps: bring your own padlock for the lockers
Fun hostel with super friendly hosts and people working at the bar. The beds were really comfy. Very well reachable by metro, and watching the sunset from the rooftop is great!! The only thing was that it was a little noisy at night because of the busy street below.
For my first time visiting a hostel, Im so happy I went to Les Piaules. It was so easy to get to from the station. The rooms were amazing ( 6p female dormwell thought out. Everyone was friendly from the guests, who come from all across the world to the staff, who are there 24h/7. They are so helpful and chatted wity us.I 100% recommend this place
Part hostel, part local bar, co-working space and community toilet. This is a fun, trendy and comfortable hostel.Stayed two nights and very comfortable, I had a four person room with just two of us sharing. The room was great, very nicely air conditioned and the door closed very quietly. Essential when staying in a hostel! This area is becoming more and more trendy, but still has a lot of local flavour. Next door is a great middle Eastern food place which is super cheap and delicious. Breakfast at the hostel costs as little as 3eurBest of all, you can work on your laptop here without fear that a surly Parisian cafe waiter will move you along.Only one tiny negative thing- to store your bag you need to pay for a locker. However, its secure and costs 4eur for a day. And the system is pleasingly 90s, which was fun. Thanks guys!
Currently staying here right now. Great staff from the reception, bar, and cleaning staff. Great energy. Room is clean. There are no TVs or other amenities. Didnt bother me. I just used the room to sleep/nap when I wasnt out. You are in a lively area so can get a bit noisy. Close to public transit. Like not even a five minute walk. Staff speaks English but you should learn some French anyway. The area might scare some first time tourists but you really will appreciate it in time.
