Small chain outpost with an all-day menu of Mexican faves, plus weekday specials & free sopapillas.
Yeah, average, at best. The food was ordinary (I had the #1A combo; the chile lacked any kick -I had red & green- & they didnt offer a sopapilla or tortilla with the meal), & the service was non-existent. My waiter/cashier didnt check on me at all after he brought my meal; Ill be spending that $15 elsewhere. I cant recommend Leos at all. I know I wont be back.
Very good food. They were busy but only had to wait 20 minutes to be seated Staff is friendly. Highly recommended!
The food was just sort of mediocre guacamole was just smashed avocado no seasoning. What street tacos I had definitely had no seasoning. The margaritas were very light on alcohol.
Leo’s has a beautiful ambience, everything is fresh so well maintained & the wait staff all look clean & sharp and are warm & friendly! The food was outstanding!! Best green sauce, best salsa, best beans & enchiladas!!! Can’t wait to get back! Thank you, Leo!!!
Leo’s has always been one of my favorites for Mexican food at the westside. However… I have noticed a HUGE decline in both the food and service after the pandemic. Today I ordered to go. Two large caldo de rez soups, which she confirmed come with rice and tortillas. Plus a chile relleno burrito all to be ready in 20 min for pickup. The Caldos were both cold, NO SALSA and NO tortillas. They included two cold sopapillas with no honey which I threw away. What is wrong Leo’s????? What happened to your superb service and attention to detail. All my years living in this area and eating there as well as picking up food, I always looked forward to Leo’s food. Things have changed, this was for some reason a very hard felt Low! Thank you for ruining my meal with no salsa and no tortillas!!! SAD
Very mellow and calm atmosphere. Lighting and the fact that theres no TVs leads to being able to talk with a lot of issues. Food was decent. I felt that my chicken was a little dry and could have used a bit more seasoning and less lettuce, but overall it was a mellow dish. First time that I had a sopapilla, good with honey. I would come back, atmosphere here alone is worth coming back.Came back and come for the carnitas. They are a must have.
The best Mexican Food in EP. Green chicken enchiladas with sour cream on top. My comfort food. I grew up on Leos on North Loop. Service is always great. Going back Saturday for brunch!
I have gone to Leos Mexican Food Restaurant for years and have never had a bad experience. I moved from Texas for over 25 years and recently returned. The food is just as good as I remember. You cant go wrong dinning at Leos whether for dine in, Carryout or deliver. You dont have to take my word for it, but you will be glad if you do. Try it for yourself, you wont be disappointed!
Interior of restaurant is well decorated in a Mexican theme. Our waiter was very attentive, fast and friendly. The meals are very affordable with the average high dinner price being $10 per plate.
The food at Leos was delicious and the service was great. Very attentive to all our needs while we were dining. We highly recommend this restaurant!
First time here, but it will not be the last time. Next I visit El Paso Im there. Waitress was wonderful.
The food wonderful, first time there. I will definitely go again when I go back to El Paso.
Been coming since i was kid, and it is still good. I will say it is Americanized Mexican food, so if youre execting old school non-fried items then it wont be for you. With that said, my all time favorite is the gordita plate! They do offer a breakfast buffet which is super yummy! You just cant go wrong with visiting this place.
The food was fantastic. Service was slow. Our waiter took it up on himself to add a 20% tip on everyones receipt. Which we thought was wrong, when he wasnt that good. Even the tables around us are complaining about it. Everything else was great.
Awesome service , great food. In 20 years of frequenting Leos I never had a bad meal. Food portions are generous and delicious. The chips and salsa served as an appetizer when your first seated are so addicting it hard to save room for your meal. Thank you , Mr. Terrazas and staff
Another disappointing experience at a Mexican restaurant. Again another spot that sells store bought tortillas..This time the girl says they do not have the man power to make them that way..Really because Im from San Antonio Texas where every spot makes them so stop the excusesNo sweet tea which again makes no sense for the whole state to not have sweet tea..The food had ZERO flavor.. I mean really the only thing I could taste was the salsa I put on... This was another bad experience that is too common these days
A friend told us about this place. Food and service were great. Stopped for lunch while traveling through. I can see why this place is so popular.
Food was okay, service has good a little down hill.
Stopped here for lunch as it was down the street from my hotel. I had the baked beef enchiladas. Food was good and hot but a little in the pricier side than what mexican Plates go for in San antonio and they did not serve flour tortillas on the side. Theyre offered in red or green sauce and I went with red. Im guessing this is higher end restaurant which would explain the price. Being this is El paso, it is on the border of Mexico and is going to be different than the Tex-mex restaurants in other parts of Texas so go in with an open mind. But to be fair most Tex-mex restaurants have some differences in how the food is prepared/served. Overall it is a good restaurant and would return.
Everything we ordered was delicious. I have no negative comments at all. The sopapillas are the best I have had here in El Paso. I don’t know why this place isn’t more popular and how we are just now finding out about it. We will be back!!
Absolutely the best!! The Chile con queso is chefs kiss !!! Their chicken enchiladas with both red and green sauce are the bomb!! Everything was so filling as well! Rice and beans are also good! And the salsa soooooo bomb!!!
Very average “American” Mexican restaurant. Which is fine, but if you’re in El Paso especially there are better Mexican restaurants around. The combination plate featured the worst tamale I’ve probably ever had from a restaurant/homemade, and the taco didn’t taste like it had any seasoning. Again, it’s not terrible and if this were picked up from El Paso and dropped somewhere in the middle of like Kansas, it would be really good. The problem is it is in El Paso and isn’t very competitive with any other Mexican restaurant. Worth a try once, but I’d prefer L&J’s, Carlos & Mickey’s, or even Julio’s
How mexican food should be made and taste! Love this place as we come here at least once a week. Great service and fresh food makes this one of the best Mexican restaurants in El paso.
Service was very good!!! Margaritas are huge.. I always get the carnitas plate.. never been disappointed..
Nice place, great enchiladas, friendly staff.
It’s possible that coming from Houston I have a very different idea of what a burrito is... but this is what I received and was charged over $5 for. No sides or toppings included. Good thing I asked for salsa when picking up the order or else my friend would have been forced to enjoy this as is. I called to verify I received the correct item, which was confirmed. They were nice enough to offer me another of the same “burrito” but I didn’t feel the 10 minute walk in the heat was worth it.
Our waitress snatched (literally yankedour cups/ chip bowl off the table without saying a word- and when she came back she slammed them down and immediately turned around and left. I ordered the carnitas and she felt the need to loudly and slowly tell me that carnita means pork.. like I was stupid. Mind you we never said anything rude to cause this behavior and never have issues with staff at restaurants we go to. She wouldn’t stand at our table long enough for us to ask a question so we had to ask other waitresses. I tried to ask her for a to go cup 3 times, as she was walking away she said “yeah” or “okay”.. but she never brought one. The food was mediocre. Maybe we just got a bad waitress, but this was our first trip and we will not be returning.
The chicken tostadas were fabulous. I cant say much for service I had to ask different people for napkins n never got a tea refill till I asked for my check, then it was too late. I think its cause theres not a lot of people wanting to work. customers r paying the price for bad service
I ordered the beef gorditas, my husband ordered the Leos Mexican Plate. Chips are good, but the salsa is fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 meaning its so freaking delicious and spicy!! Good food, not salty or greasy. The enchiladas with the red sauce are my favorite menu item. Everything is good on the menu.
It had been long while since weve been here. It was a very pleasant experience. Food was delicious and place was very clean. Waiter was attentive and personable. Wont wait to come back.
Very good service here. The food is good but I have had many Mexican meals that were just as good. I would definitely eat here again. Not a place I plan on my schedule whenever I visit EP... but if Im near it and i want Mexican food, its a solid choice.
It was very delicious! Filling and Satisfying! I shared the 3 chicken enchilada plate and it definitely was plenty! I got both red and green sauce! Every entree comes with a sopapilla!
Ive eaten at Leos restaurants since I was a kid and their food is still delicious. You cant get a better cheese enchilada.
My first time in El Paso, other than driving through. I had an amazing dish here that I have not had in any other restaurant in the U.S. or Mexico. I LOVED it!If you are a cheese lover you will see how it is 5 STARS!!
Brown avocado? Horrible customer service?! No thanks, I’d rather go to Juarez to get better Mexican food. I’m also a server so I know what to expect and what to tolerate. Tried talking to management, but that was even worse !
Their food is always so good! The Mexican food has gotten a little commercial, but still delicious. By commercial, I mean the flavors are not as traditional or homey, they are more like almost as if they are out of a can or frozen supply. This is a slightly more pricey Mexican joint I’m town, but at least you won’t be disappointed. Their weekend buffet is pretty amazing and is always stocked up and offers a great variety of Mexican favorites! The service here is hit or miss, sometimes and even at varying times you might have their staff be really sweet and welcoming or even snobby or annoyed. It’s been here for a while, so it is definitely a must try if you’re in town or not sure where to eat. The host stand could use some training on hospitality, as they are the face of the restaurant as you walk in. First impressions are pretty big for me, so I just figured it be something I note for you all. The bar has such amazing selections and some of the yummiest margaritas in town. Good job Leo’s!
Terrible experience!!!We were originally going to eat at Cracker Barrel but figure this is El Paso so decided to try Mexican food and Leos was near with great reviews. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The waitress was great and the house and Strawberry Margaritas were amazing, but the food was beyond unacceptable. First, my wifes order was messed up, then I had to wait for them to fix it (while my food was getting cold). Waited a total of an hour from sitting down to getting the food. When the food came out it was as they had microwaved it for way too long. The edges of the refried beans were visibly burnt and the rice was terrible. Also, I had the carnitas Tacos and the meat was terrible; it was like they scraped the bottom of the pan and gave me all of the burnt pieces. We did not get past 10% of our food when we looked at each other and said "this is terrible." My wife and I did not want to be "Karens" and whispered to the waitress that the issue with our food was beyond ignoring it and that we needed it resolved. The waitress left and return offering us 20% off our bill yet the manager didnt even show up to see what the issue was. If faced with the decision to eat at this place again, we choose Taco Bell.
Great customer service food was good chips salsa good aswell little bit disappointed in my Chile verde since it only had 3 small pieces of meat was not a big fan of the sopaipillas will go back for a special occasion and try a different plate
The sopapillas were amazing!!! Worth the trip alone, chips and salsa was FIIIIRE! Bomba. Not spicy, just amazing. Lots of feasible food options. Kids enjoyed the caldo and rice the most.
My bestie took me here after picking me up from the airport for a mini vacation to see her. I was really craving some flautas, which came with some refried beans, salad and rice! Food was pretty decent, hit the spot. Service was friendly and quick!
Delicious! Free chips, salsa and sopapillas with entrees. Service was a little slow but they were busy and staff was friendly. All the food had great flavor!
Great New Mexico style Tex-Mex. The location is convenient with ample parking. The inside is warm and inviting. Enjoy! 😋😋
Great food and staff. They do get very busy, so be advised this isnt fast food. But the food is excellent and the margaritas 🍹 were perfect!
This place is hailed by locals as an El Paso classic if youre on the west side. The atmosphere was pleasant, not too loud or crowded, and the wait staff was very kind and attentive. Our drinks never ran dry and the time to table was very quick. The food was delicious; there wasnt a single complaint to be heard at the table. Topped off our lunch with a dessert and we all went home fat and happy.
Very good Mexican food. Not outstanding. They serve complimentary chips and salsa for a starter and sopapillas at the end, which is a nice touch. Service was good, but if you go after 5:30, expect to wait for a table. You’ll definitely want to go early. We will go back and try more from their large menu.
Springhill Suites next door recommended Leo’s last year, but they were closed due to Covid so when we had a chance this year we went to have dinner there. It was very good. Service was good. Wheelchair friendly.
Cool little restaurant. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they were super good 💥 the boyfriend ordered the chicken tacos and didn’t really enjoy them (the tortillas are fried/hard). Portion size is good for the price and they have a friendly staff. Mondays they are CLOSED. I brought my pup on their patio and it was private and nice.
The food was so delicious! The salsa is by far the best I have had at any mexican restaurant. Wow still amazed. I had the chicken fajitas an they were on point. Juicy, great flavor and a decent portion. I ordered the flan thinking I would snack on it later but finished it before I left. I ate here two days in a row which I rarely do because the food was so good. Try the sopapias when you stop by they are a sweet treat for sure. The pricing was less than I expected for the quality. I would come with my family if I lived in town. The atmosphere could be accommodating for families and also just to hang with friends. I highly recommend this place.
We didn’t have to wait too long for a seat. Once the waiter sat us, we were asked for our drink order. The waiter constantly asked to up-sale us for a specialty drink: we politely refused.I order 3 carnitas tacos; very flavorful.Wife ordered green enchiladas; she loved them.We ordered sopapillas; they came with honey and were very good.I’d recommend Leo’s.
I was surprised by the taste of the food. Very tasty, good variety. Most of the dishes are spicy but not hot, so dont be scared to try the enchiladas or mole if you dont eat spicy food very often. Good service overall. Place looks cozy and clean. Servers speak English and Spanish. I was here for breakfast in a Sunday and there was a wait but worth it. Delicioso!
