Cajun butcher/restaurant offering meat & parts by the pound plus gumbo, sandwiches & plate lunches.
This restaurant was recommended by my husbands co-worker. So we rode down and unfortunately it will be one and done for us. Dont get me wrong, the service was great and food was ok (fish, shrimp, beans, and potato/sausage platterhowever, 40 mins into the ride home, my stomach started doing flip flops. Prior to leaving the establishment (and after we had finished eating), someone within our party noticed that the gentleman we observed outside by the chopped wood smoking was also in the back with no gloves on. Needless to say, my evening was altered due to unforeseen circumstances requiring me to stay close to a bathroom, my husband too.
It was a great experience stopping at Leos to grab some Dinner. Their Cajun Food is amazing and should you need something special customized, the amazing Folks at Leos will go above and beyond to create a beautiful Lunch Meal experience for you. Should you happen to find yourself in Galveston. Please stop at Leos. I highly recommend the Riblets. Thanks to the amazing Folks at Leos who go above and beyond to their Guests. I enjoyed the "Balls"Thanks Guys
I absolutely love this place. My first stop whenever o come back home.
Best chicken and sausage on this side of the Sabine smoke riblets are to die for they also have smoked ham hocks tassels and the best sausage in-house made around
Excellent down home Cajun food.We had fried oysters, catfish, and étouffee with sides of jambalaya, sausage and potato, and rice dressing as sides. All 😋, especially the smoke sausage in the jambalaya!
Im not an expert on Cajun food, but this food is really good! Had the chicken, chicken/pasta salad, and sausage and potatoes. Yummy!! Ill be coming back! Oh...and the Cajun BBQ sauce is amazing!
Mr. Leo and his wife are amazing people and the food is just as great. If youre on the island make a stop here for sure 👍
The only place in town I have been able to find white gravy like grammy .makes. dont tell her I said this but I actually think its better than grammies..grammars... ruh roh
Seafood gumbo had almost no seafood in it. But, it was delicious.
Fish And Shrimp Was Goooooddd!!!! Also Customer Service Was Excellent Seafood Gumbo Was All Right… But I’ll Recommend Jambalaya Was Good As Well
We stumbled upon Leo’s for breakfast and it did not disappoint. The breakfast sandwiches were delicious. The sausage patty tasted like it was made in house. They were even kind enough to give us complimentary banana pudding at the end of our meal. My only issues were they were out of kolaches when we arrived (30 min before breakfast was over, understandableand the coffee was from a K-cup. The pricing was fair and not inflated like other places on the island. It was a friendly atmosphere & you get the vibe it’s a local spot since the staff knew most the customers by name. We will definitely be back again!
Best food on the island! Everything they make is outstanding. The staff is excellent. Great customer service.
The riblets are delicious we always buy 5lbs, and the people thar works there are nice and friendly.
Great place and Leo is great he will come to your table ,make sure all is good and you like the food. A real gem on the island
My second time here and its still delicious! I ordered the riblets with a side of jambalaya. My boyfriend ordered the sausage plate. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. You should try it!We came back! 6/2022 Of course! I ordered the same thing and added sausage and cole slaw. Yummmmm!!! I couldnt get enough of that jambalaya! I want more already 😭
This Kansas boy is no gumbo expert but I know whats good. The sausage sandwich was smoky with just a bit of spice. I only got one bite of the Shrimp sandwich before my son sucked it down.
Places like this are why its worth skipping the big restaurant chains. Fast and friendly service, and the food is just as good as you could imagine. My kids loved it - which is saying something for cajun food. Definitely dont skip the desserts either. The bread pudding is fabulous. This will be my first stop anytime I come to Galveston.
Their food is great, especially the riblets. My Son love the Beef Jerky. Everyone is very friendly.
Mother’s Day. Daughter picked up fixings and everyone was disappointed in just about everything. The chicken was OK, Boudin was very dry and tasteless. Rice was bland and had no flavor. Potato salad was OK at best. Ridiculous prices for what it was. Will never buy from here again.
$37 for 2 plates, 1 drinkshould be $$ instead of $Definitely Cajun in terms of spice, felt like one note heat on the sidesShrimp was decent, catfish was better (generally shrimp is one of my favorite dishes, not a huge fan of catfish)Potato salad was pretty good, if you’re more of a fan of mashed potatoesMy table was being cleaned before I made it to the door, that’s what will make me eventually return
Woah. So good! The Riblets lived up to their name! The gumbo was good, the boudin balls were great, and excellent fried oysters. The service was very kind and patient with us and had great suggestions. Also very clean!
Best Catfish and smoked Chicken...if you want Cajun food this is the place to go to in Galveston!! Dont forget their desserts, the Carrot Cake is Amazing!!
Food is excellent one of my favorite place on the island they never disappoint.
We stopped by to just pick up some boudain, but couldnt resist the bread pudding, and a jalapeño popper, too. They were all great, especially that popper--filled with cheese and boudain and HOT! Super friendly too. Next time were in Galveston well be back for more things!
Great Family ran business. Everyone here is always happy to see you. Great food. Theyve been making jerky for me for several years and it is by far the best out of several places that I have tried.
Amazing food along customer service. everyone was super kind and delicious food. Riblets are to DIE for tender meat with yummy mouthwatering flavor.edit: my daughter wrote this review lol. Shes right though. Gumbo and po boy on point too. Thanks!
This place has delicious food and large portions. At first I thought the price was a little expensive...it aint...not for what you get; a large amount of food, some of the best tasting chicken I ever ate. Great potato salad. Its a simple-type restaurant where you go up front to order. The decor is dated but charming.Whoever is back in that kitchen has my eternal thanks. This is a skilled chef who obviously has been doing this for a long time. Go to this restaurant. No debate.
Recently enjoyed their Riblets and smoked pork chop. Both of which were excellent! I highly recommend the pork chop! The Andouille Sausage is away a must have as well.
I was referred to this place from a FB friend. Wow I’m glad I tried it! It’s the REAL DEAL! It’s a small place and they have a meat cooler off to the side just the way stores back in the day had them in SW, La. And best of all they don’t put BAYLEAVES in their gumbo! ( stop doing that! And their gumbo tastes like ya Ma-Maw made it! Their meats are fresh and taste soooooo good! Boudin is off the chain! Andouille and Tasso! And the bonus is, the people there are always so nice! Thanks Leo!
Hands down best smoked chicken in three counties. Maybe even more than that. Every time I am in Galveston for lunch I go here. The season and smoke flavor is never disappointing. Plus the jambalaya is fire. And the chicken breast are so big that you think a Hollywood plastic surgeon had something to do with picking them out. LOL. It is a family owned and ran business. The owner and his wife both work the kitchen and front counter with the help of their son. All three of them are awesome people. They really get to know their customers. Leos is also known for their famous riblets. Ive had those also and understood why they are famous for them. For me though I love the chicken 🐔. If you are in Galveston you have to try this place. If this review is helpful or you try it and agree leave a thumbs up. Enjoy and thank me later.*Update*The chicken is still FIRE! Biggest juiciest breast on the island hands down. But since Im watching my carb intake I decided to try the green beans. When I took a bite of these delicious beans it made me happier than a puppy with two peters. The best green beans Ive ever tried. I wonder if Leo is available to be my personal chef or dad. Lol. Probably couldnt afford him but if I could I would. Yall need to go try this place!
The food is amazing! Got the catfish and shrimp with rice and sausage and potatoes and sausage… It’s all amazing! The service test awesome, everybody is so nice and accommodating most definitely will be back… This is a stop you must make while in Galveston!!!
The quality of food has gone down hill. The prices have tripled. The staff could be thinned out. ONLY if the quality of food goes up and prices lowered by a quarter. Use to be able to buy a COMPLETE meal with drink 5 bucks ALL DAY LONG. Got less and spent 20 bucks.
Family oriented love their food their biscuits gravy grits and cheese so good for breakfast!! Always pleasing the customer
Went on a whim, after seeing the reviews. Left very satisfied. We got catfish plates with jambalaya, potato salad, green beans, and got some boudin balls. All the food was very well seasoned, no additional salt or pepper was needed. The proportions were great, so you will not leave hungry. While its not "fine dining," it most certainly is good "home cooking!"
Get you an extra sauce with the ribletsGreat food
Good place for a semi-budget meal. When we visited, they were recently a new business so Im sure they are working things out. However, the food was decent enough to give it a try. I didnt try their riblets but their chicken was juicy on the inside and tasty. Great customer service too!EDIT: one of the "employee" told us you were new. Maybe wrong place, my apologies.
Met Leo, great guy. Love the Riblets. 30 years in business, local favorite.
Ive been wanting real Texas BBQ, I was a little antsy since they had a lot of shellfish. The lady taking orders was totally on it, got me set up with the riblets, potato salad and coleslaw. It was a lot of food, if leave here hungry youre missing out. Im picky with my coleslaw but it was peppery and amazing, the riblets were dry rubbed with sauce on the side. Fantastic meal, I was full most of the day.
Ordered the fried catfish plate with the jambalaya rice and potato salad for $15 (rounding up.Also came with a slice of bread. Fountain drinks were an extra $2.50 (shouldve been included with the plate order). The fish strips were crispy but not fried hard which tasted great to me. I wouldnt call the potato salad or jambalaya cajun. Staff were kind and the place had its regulars come in, which says a little something about it. Over all it wasnt too bad. 3 stars!
This place oysters are amazing and the crab cakes are as well. Its a great place with food full of flavor
My wife and I stopped by on the way back and we got the sausage and catfish plate with sides and gumbo was boudin balls. The gumbo was watery and everything was too salty. Never have eaten anyplace that salted as heavily as the food served here. Even my wife thought so. The people and service was good though and if I was able to handle so much salt intake I would try again but cant.
This was our second pick for a cajun restaurant. So glad the first was full. Great food fun knowledgeable staff. We took home 6 different kinds of sausage to have at home in Nebraska. Yummy!!! Clean not fancy comfy. The catfish was sublime. Would LOVE to go back.
Fried catfish and banana pudding were amazing. Seafood gumbo was a little more watery than I like. Carrot cake was too dry while frosting on top so sweet you could taste the sugar crystals. Rice dressing and Jambalaya sides were definitely not for me. Just not a fan of Leo’s flavor profile on those.Another annoying thing- I ordered a split plate of oysters and catfish. I heard lady call that order in. At my car I found catfish and shrimp- so they got my order wrong. I came back and they said they were out of oysters. Would have been disappointing to come home to find that. They should have said something. Anyway, a mixed bag experience. I would try again, but they need to step up their game. Reasonable prices.
Stopped here today to pick up a to go order. The crab cake was delicious and made a perfect light lunch! I called the order in and was surprised that it would only take 5m.The people working were friendly and wore masks. The crab cake was piping hot and full of crab, not to mention a good price!
All the food was great but the riblets were the bomb. The food had a hint of cajun seasoning that was just right making it not to spicy to enjoy.
Good, not great. 2 crawfish tails were the only seafood in my Seafood gumbo. Riblets were just ok. Maybe 3 or 4 stars.
The food was just okay where I like the best was the seafood gumbo was absolutely delicious great location though I try one more time
Amazing food!!! They are always super nice when you come in.. If you get there earlier enough you can try the breakfast bowl, its so good and filling. They have food to eat there as well as stuff you can take home. And they do process deer for you if you bring it in. All around a great place to eat right there on broadway
Leos Cajun Corner, is a great place to go! The prices are very reasonable and the food is really good. The staff is friendly and courteous. The Riblets are nice and tender with a light smoky, and a little bit spicy. The Red Beans and Rice are really good, but they could definitely use some Crystal hot sauce. The potato salad was delicious as was the Brisket. The only thing that I didnt really care for was the Jambalaya... it was more of a Dirty Rice than a Jambalaya.
The best place for soulfood you will not find near the seawall. This place right here, On my momma, it was so good. I must say the gumbo was delicious and that chicken pasta was on point. I didnt care much for the boudin, but nothing compares to Boudin in Lake Charles, Bossier, etc. Anyways, my Fi said the pork chops and ribs were delicious.
