Busy after-work scene with stylish leather benches, serving pizza, share plates and craft beer.
My Husband & I were looking for somewhere to have a leisurely lunch after hitting the shops, boy are we so glad we chose here, we were warmly greeted by "Pietro" , and given a lovely table close to the kitchen. We could see all the rows of fresh pasta, that had been handmade. Pietro assisted us greatly with special recommendations with our wine & food selections, We had a delightful bottle of Montepulciano, which perfectly complimented the wild mushrooms , with warm goats cheese, aged balsamic & arso focaccia & Smoked Rice, Veal & Mozzarella Arancini, these were both delicious. Followed by Blue Swimmer Crab, Lemon & Rocket Orecchiette, this was another recommendation, and it was insanely good , amazing fresh flavour and surprising light for a pasta dish. My husband opted for the Tagliolini Gippsland Rabbit & Sausage "Involtino and he loved it.What is very clear here, all the food is made with passion and this shines through with every mouthful. In terms of service "Pietro" provided some of the best service we have had the pleasure to encounter, his knowledge & passion made our lunch stop a very memorable one, we would not hesitate to return next time we are in Melbourne and will happily recommend.
Various kinds of pasta and good wines. But taste is bit complicated and its better to have more selections that we can easy to choose.

We were looking for a restaurant that served homemade pasta & stumbled upon Lello en route to another spot. So glad we stopped here! The wait staff was very welcoming & very Italian. Our waitress was from Lucca, so we got to reminisce about our fond memories together. The decor is stylish. The wine list offered a nice selection of Italian wines. The service was gracious, engaging when appropriate, but not overbearing.Let’s talk about the food. The salad was nicely dressed. My pasta was cooked perfectly, as I chose the cacio e peppe. If you find yourself craving a great plate of homemade pasta while in Melbourne, come here!
Went to Lello for a post work dinner. The food was lovely (for a vegetarianand the service was what one would expect. Well worth checking out.
Had a reservation on Tuesday at 5:30pm, got a small table at the very corner, where has no waiter can see us. Personally, a quiet night and early time like that, i think they should give a better table as the restaurant had less than 10 customer the whole time. I had been wave to the wait staff for so many times, but the waiter and bar girl was keep chatting, at the end i have to walk to the front and get my bill.Ordered a Moreton Bay bug Tortellini and a beef Lasagna vincisgrass. Taste was great, however, its too pricey for such as small portion. The lasagna was 3 tiers but thin like a sheet.
Food here is definitely highly recommended, bottle of wine will be great to come along with, I love the design of the restaurant, will definitely visit again.
The food is very tasty. The pasta was filled with potato and mint 😋 The zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese were delicious, but my favourite from the entree were the croquettes stuffed with pumpkin 🤤I’ll definitely go back to try the other pastas 😄
Great staff!! Fantastic food Ill be back!!
Thanks @Lello 😀 my partner and I really enjoyed your restaurant!🍝 Food was really nice, our pizza was nice and thin with plenty of toppings. The pasta was cooked perfectly and tasted great.💰 Price is on the more expensive side, so stuck to the specials menu this time, but would definitely splurge to try some other meals.🌃 Lovely romantic atmosphere, lots of seating and a good vibe.🤵 Staff were lovely, a very warm greeting and table service was good too.
Great food and wine here, friendly Italian staff.
We were so glad to have stumbled across this gem. The gnocchi was the lightest gnocchi I’ve ever had. It was so delicious that I’m still thinking about it hours later! Can’t wait to go back again next time we visit Melbourne.
Just extremely delicious.. no other words! I had scampi pasta and peanut semifredo. So good! Can’t wait to try other dishes.
I really enjoyed this place. One of my favourites. Any chance I get to go back I would. The lasagne, gnocchi, pizzas are great. Wine selection are great too. The service is amazing.
We were a group of 7 booked over the holidays. The restaurant was very accommodating of several number changes within hours of our booking. We had loads of room, and the venue is well laid out (you dont feel cramped at all). You can also hear one another as it isnt a loud venue. We had their $60pp chefs menu and it was sooooo tasty and so much food. We started with their cheesy garlic pizza, stuffed zucchini flowers and charcuterie platter with terrific cured meats. That was a ton of food. Then we had a break before we got the rabbit and pasta...the most moist pleasant rabbit Ive had! Following that was the duck with crispy skin on a delicious cabbage salad, plus a green salad and two bowls of chips (that was the only strange part of the meal that probably couldve been skipped). The dessert was a lovely semifredo with cookie and caramel, and some pistachio cannnoli. We were all well filled and loved the dishes. Highly recommend this place!!!
Attended a private function and had the best gnocchi Id ever had. The menu was delicious and arrived promptly to all tables. Thanks for making this event so memorable.
Good pasta, not amazing, but good nonetheless and reasonable pricing given its near the Paris end of Collins Street.
Awesomely delicious! Had the grilled octopus to start and then finishing with the mushrooms. Mateo and the servers gave the best service and was very extremely attentive! Highly recommended!
My work always comes here for celebratory and milestone birthday lunches and its an absolute treat!Excellent handmade pasta, the pizzas are great, we love the wine selection and the espresso martini is one of the best Ive ever had.Amazing service and we always look forward to returning.
Pretty busy place for weekdays dinner. Better to books your table before. The place is pretty fun and service is pretty good. Good to go after work. Great value too. I highly recommended to try the gnocchi, pizza and lasagna. They were so tasty :)
This is a firm favourite in Melbourne. Understated, artisan pasta, always satisfying. Reliable. Service is excellent. We had the $59 Chefs selection, and it was great value.
Delicious food, fantastic and helpful staff, definitely book a table for 2 or more, selection of nice wines , cheeses and desserts
Very welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. Friendly efficient service. Food so delicious and fresh, all made on premises. Great selection of wine by the glass. Centrally located in CBD and close to public transport if needed. Look forward to a return visit. Definitely recommend.
Delicious home made pasta. We also enjoyed a San Daniele pizza but forgot to photograph that one, we were too hungry!! Highly recommend this Italian restaurant.
Fancy place, old yak bar. Pasta is top notch with price on the high end. Good place for special occasions.
Really enjoyed breakfast here. Great service. Outstanding lattes. Would go back if we had more time in Melbourne. Check out this egg on sourdough open faced sandwich 🥪 nice touch with the basil on top 🍃
This restaurant is AMAZING. The atmosphere was buzzing. Our entree and mains were delicious. We were looked after by Will. He is very professional yet relaxed. He took it upon himself to recommend wines to go with our meals, he was spot on. Can’t wait to dine here again. Many thanks for a great evening.
Went here on a Tuesday evening after work before heading to the cinema. Kitchen opens at 5.30pm and when we told the waiter we were time poor, they made the effort to get our food out super quick. Fantastic food and service.
Cosy place for a date night. Doesnt get overly busy during the week and you wont really need a booking.Long list of wine available, food is delicious and has got some good surprises.Made sure you dont see next to the window or facing the window as cars headlights out on the street will turn you blind. The restaurant should do something about this as its quite annoying sitting at a dinner table and having headlights beam at your face every 5 minutes.
Loved it. White Sardines followed by the best Rabbit Pasta in a light broth Taglioni(thin fettuccine). Eating by myself, the service was excellent - attentive and generous. Perfect Wednesday night solo traveller meal. Had a perfectly matched montelpuciana from Abruzza. Lots of choices. Will come back again with family and friends.
Friendly service, yummy hand made pasta featuring authentic regional Italian recipes, beautiful fit out - love the large scale photos of the Italian coastline and the chefs viewing window. Great atmosphere!
Visit on 11 oclock and not so busy.Great staffs and good atmosphere.
Pizza was normal and Croquettes was nice but hand made pasta with seafood was average. Noodle was a bit soaked
3.5 star ⭐️I really really loved the food at Lello so I am going to state up front why they got 3.5 stars from me. Their food took so so so so long to arrive. Between the mains and entrees I think there was a good half an hr in between. At lunch time. In CBD. Not acceptable in my opinion. On to the food. We had some really good entree specials- the fried zucchini with egg and Parmesan was amazing, so was the mushroom entree with a dollop of goats cheese in the middle. And thank goodness the dollop of goats cheese is in the middle because I don’t normally eat goats cheese. My friend had a mint and potato ravioli thingy which sounds weird but tasted amazing, and my ragu pasta was really delicious as well.Shame about the time taken to get the food out though, I would have loved to try their dessert.
Went there with my wife for Valentines Day, what a great night:* Food is high quality, same as you would get from those top chefs restaurants that would cost you a lot.* Traditional and some modern Italian dishes that would definitely surprise you. I had pasta with rabbit and my wife had a basic cheese and pepper pasta, which was unbelievable tasty for such a simple dish (isn’t that what Italian food is all about? Plain, simple and tasty!)* Service was exemplary: all waitress were perfectly able to explain to us what each dish was about, but not only that, they explained the origin of the dish, why it was made that way! I love that, love to understand the origin of a dish!I also love the casual environment, which makes me want to come back during the week, not just special occasions!
Delicious and meal. Felt very Italian.
special spaghetti: super Italian stylelemonade: delicious but small amountgreat service, perfect atmospheretoo pricy for the pasta here
I came in a Italian restaurant expecting a cup of good coffee and a proper tiramisu but I did not get what I expected.
I tried a few restaurants in Melbourne CBD and It is the best pasta I have in Melbourne so far. Definitely recommend and I will go back again soon.
Yesterday Friday the 12 of October 2018My daughter and I went there for the first time for lunch as we often go , well this place it is the place if you enjoy Italian food the menu was great the service i will give them 10 /10The food 10/10 wine list excellent pricesWe will be back, we also meet Lello the chefGreat place you must visit.
We were very hungry and were quite pushed for time, but stumbled upon this restaurant and were served immediately, with complementary bread to keep us from going crazy! The food came very quickly and was extremely delicious, really well presented and high quality. The staff were very understanding and nice which really made the experience as positive as it was.
It was our first restaurant after we get to Melbourne, and it was a successful choice. This restaurant is based on a lot of choices of pasta and pizza. The food is really tasty, the service are great and fast and of course, the price is average. We did enjoy it much!
Great location, ambiance and service. The lasagne is AMAZING.
Came for lunch. Had the hand made gnocchi with lamb ragu, so good. Gnocchi was light and fluffy.Service was fast and not too much.Great feed for lunch.
GOOD QUALITY ITALIAN CUISINEWe dropped in without a booking before a show at the Regent Theatre one Saturday night at 6 pm. They were happy to seat us and have us finished by 7:15 for our show.We got the table right next to the viewing window into the kitchen - was fun to watch the busy staff preparing the meals. reassuringly, the kitchen staff looked both happy and focussed on their creations :)Our waitress did a great job of introducing us to the restaurant and the menu, even more impressive as it was her first night! The restaurant is fairly large but it wasnt at all noisy and there is enough space between tables (for twoto allow you privacy for your conversation. We were going to order two entrees but on the waiters advice that entree serves are quite large we settled on sharing a calamari between us for entree. As you can see in the picture it was enough for two.I had the gnocci with rabbit ragu. The gnocci was delicious in texture and flavour. the rabbit was tasty but slightly salty for my taste (my partner thought it was just right!). Partner had the delightful vegetarian culurgiones, a sicilian stuffed pocket pasta. It had an amazing texture and a delicate flavour. We shared a fennel and orange saladI had a glass of Australian pinot grigio and we shared sparkling water. The bill was just over $100 for the both of us.Despite our limited time, the food came out with good timing and we were out the door in good time for our show.Toilets are up some fairly steep stairs and quite a walk so may be difficult for people with mobility issues. Not especially wheelchair friendly as it has split level floors.Overall a very good experience.. well be back again!
Delicious food, very high quality. I had the gnocci and it melted in the mouth. The sauce was also delicate and suited the dish well.My partner had the pizza and the dough was crsipy, and toppings generous. With great service and a nice atmosphere, we plan on returning soon!
Such a lovely place. The service was nice, the food was incredible and I would highly recommend this place. We had 2 different pastas (around $28both fantastic!!! Looking forward to coming back soon.
Came here for lunch for a work function. The staff where friendly and went out of there way to accommodate our every need. I ordered the pizza and it was delicious. There beer menu had a great selection and staff where very knowledgeable about the wines and the beers on the menu. I would highly recommend this place as everyone enjoyed the meals
Service is friendly and the food gives Italy a run for their money. The pasta are all hand made including the gluten free ones, it was so good I thought they had given me normal pasta by mistake. The pizza was also flawless - thin but crispy and chewy base, toppings are well thought out. If you like reds, go for the Chianti Classico from Tuscany. Im definitely coming back here
Its hard to know who loved this more between the kids and my husband we havent stopped raving about it. The home made pasta (with home made stone ground flourwas an out of this world experience that must simply be done once. Everything was immaculately seasoned and cooked with love. The service was on point and the wine list fantastic. The half a duck was cooked to perfection and no one could fault a thing! Even the toddlers pasta got claimed and eaten. The kids really enjoyed poking their heads in the window watching the food be cooked and they accommodated the 6 of us in amongst a busy dinner service to which we were eternally grateful. You definitely need to book for larger groups but this gem is a rare find. We will be back.
