Great great views! The restaurant looks lovely too and it stays open the whole year! Totally recommend walking up

Reasonable view of the town from up here. Not much going on when we attended, nothing open and no staff around.Worth a look if you have a rental car and are at the loose end for an hour but I would not recommend going if you are planning on walking up the hill, not worth the effort.

Decided to have a look at this monument as there were so many mixed reviews.To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I was shocked to see so much rubbish and what seemed sewerage and was even more shocked to see a caged monkey. Why?The views were nice. But you would need a very vivid imagination to think this was a beautiful place. We didnt have a drink in the cafe/restaurant and the owners should be ashamed of themselves for the mess surrounding their business.Wake up Albania and start looking after your country.

If you want a nice panorama for the Sarande city, this is the best place.The castle is represented by a restaurant and its terrace.Also, the place is accessible for cars as well.

It is really worth climbing up to admire the sunset. I dont like using a monkey in a small cage as a tourist attraction. If the walk is too much for you, you can go by car / taxi

Its around 4 km from the main centre with 80% of the steep track; taxis have a fixed rate of 1500 leke, which is quite expensive. If you are a budget traveller, get ready to walk on a steep trail for 1 hour. over the destination, you will find good view around for pictures, and make sure you are travelling during the day. Apart from view, the castle has a super expensive restaurant, with prices ranging from 4000-6000 leks for single pint of beer.

This is an excellent place to watch the sunset. The view from here is beautiful. If you are in saranda you must visit this place. It looks so lovely after sunset.There is also a place here to eat which has some entertainment however I would not recommend it as the service is extremely poor. We had to take the menu ourself from the pile on the table because we were waiting at a table for around 15/20 minutes and no one came to us. After that we were waiting for around an hour and no one had even taken our order. So we decided to leave and eat elsewhere.If you are after the entertainment at this restaurant then I recommend you stand at the top of the castle and watch from there.

Hot and sunny day and I walked up. Nice scenery. But I dont understand they had a monkey in a cage there. For what? The castle ruins was ok but the poor little monkey was not.

Amazing view! Would not recommend to have dinner there, it’s not worthy but view is totally worth it to enjoy the best sunset and mountains view!Need a car to go, it 10 minutes from the city center. Totally worth it.On 13 September we didn’t pay entrance tickets and could park perfectly well.

Incredible views, but the monkey in the cage was such a terrible experience, that I must give them one single star. This is cruel. Lets hope for some brave animalist to free the poor thing up there in a sad corner within a cage

Nice place, fine road to fortress, very nice view to sea and the rest of country, but everything about fortress is transform to restaurant which is minus for this place, we didnt eat so rating is for view and for fortress.

Went here with a group of friends for dinner and to watch the sunset. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly. Everyone else was also happy with their food. Service was a little slow but they were very polite. The view is breathtaking and definitely one of the best I’ve experienced in Sarande. They had live music which had everyone up dancing.Great atmosphere.

Its worth a visit! I didnt try the restaurant/bar, just went to watch the sunset and I would recommend.

It was supposed to be a historical place, but it is modified completely in a restaurant. However, I went there in closing time so I cannot rate the dishes and services. Anyway, my 1 star is due to the monkey left alone in a cage. In Albania, I do not know if keeping wild tropical animal is allowed

Great place to see the views of Saranda and Ksamil, and of course to see the sunset.You can park there easily.We didnt have dinner at the restaurant, but looked very nice.

The place the views are quite spectacular worth 5 stars. All out entrees we got we’re delicious. The main we’re ok not seasoned well. Asked for extra bread as we had a small basket for over 10 people. That took 3 attempts . As did the fries for the kids. One of the prawns were not cleaned on one dish this was bought to our waiter and he said he did not believe us. Have no reason to lie just to inform. Nevertheless we have been many times and now it’s a now become a tourist money spinner . It’s was very full , reservations are a must if you want to see the sun setting . Service to be desired.

The views were really incredible I am not sure I have seen anything better, however the road to the castle could be better. I mean there were lots of potholes and it had some tight turns, they could work on that.

Challenging road with lot of potholes, too narrow for two cars. Fantastic view from the fortress especially if you catch the sunset. In the fortress there is a restaurant with a lot of tables that basically caught the whole space.

Interesting place for photos, but too bright at night and it is removing the ability for some astro photography

I will not rate restaurant, because it was morning and it was closed, no guests. I could only saw that there is huge huge terrace with many tables and seats and very nice looking. Place is amazing, view on whole bay and city. Must see when you are in Saranda. Top atraction. You can go up with car and park at top of the hill.

The view from the castle is very nice BUT to our big surprise the restaurant in the castle keeps a monkey in a very small cage and it urinates under itself… very sad picture… not humanitarian and not human. Why would anyone keep any animal in such conditions - I will never understand. Two stars for the view, though.

Castle with outstanding views of Saranda, good pizzas, and live music! Perfect place for a date and have dinner.

Here is the scam!Usually this castle is just for paranomic view and picture. Mostly locals recommend not to eat there, and entrance is free of cost.Today I have booked taxi and visit this castle there was a concert inside. At the entrance people were charging 500lek (5eurosjust because of there was concerts. So everyone who visits castle was forced to pay for concern weather you see concerts or not.I requested them sir I don’t want to see concert I want to see castle I will take 5 minutes to see view and come back. There were bouncers and they misbehaved and very unprofessional approach.I requested three times as I paid one day hotel and taxi to see castle but I was absolutely unwilling to pay for concert.But they nonsense and uncivilised people forced to pay for concert. It was horrible experience.This happened to so many tourists and they all were super angry like me😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Why does this restaurant need several security guards? Because they wanted to charge 500 lek p. p. for the entrance (at least when we were there in the eveningfor a live music event that would take place later that day. When we refused to pay it they would not let us in (guarding the entrance). Also they followed us when we tried to walk outside the castle to get a pic of the few.There is a public street outside the castle that leads to a platform, but they parked cars in front of it, so tourists wouldnt discover the road and pay the entrance instead.

Interesting place, great view. Sadly not too much to visit, its mainly restaurant placed inside old walls and nothing more. Still if you are around, worth to visit

It is one of the most beautiful restaurants of Albania.Food is very good like everywhere in Albania.Service is slow, non attentive and our exact table we booked was not ready at rhe time of the booking there were people eating. So we almost missed the sunsetThe "2" is for the wedding situation. In one part of the restaurant was big beautiful wedding. With music and dances. With a lot of lights which ruined the night view on the city. But the most terrible was that in the main part of the restaurant was live music too. So ... oh god, my ears. I just waited to finish the wine food and go home.

Based on previous reviews, it seems that this place has had a bit of a revamp recently. The menu is varied and really excellent, we particularly loved the squid with creamy truffle sauce. The waiter was really considerate, even giving us a heads up when he thought we might have accidentally ordered too much food (in reality, we were just hungry hippos after climbing up the mountain to get here ha)As everyone mentions, the view is unbelievable and we stayed for sunset. As it was Friday night, we also got to enjoy live music! Highly recommended

The restaurant was open and we ordered iced coffee to go for about 200lek while touring around the castle. Its very pretty decoration and great view

This place was amazing to visit. My partner and I got a taxi from town and the driver waited for us for 40 minutes and then drove us back into town. This cost us 20€ which was a great price to us.The view is like nothing else. Its free to enter and look around, and theres a bar inside. They did food, but we only got coffees -- I had an iced latte while my partner had an iced cappucino. Had to wait a while because the machine had only just been turned on, but wasnt a problem as we just sat in the sun admiring the view. The only downside was that they only took cash and no card, and since we were visiting while on holiday in Corfu, we only had euros with us. This would have been more problematic had we bought a full meal, but luckily we only needed a small amount of cash for the coffees and they accepted euros. Deducting one star due to this as it was inconvenient. Theres plenty of seating and the place was deserted except us and a couple doing a wedding photoshoot.Would strongly recommend.

Wonderful castle with an absolutely amazing view, it is slightly run down a bit with little care but looking besides that its worth it for the shear view and experience!

Amazing views from all sides, the actual restaurant was closed when we went but you are free to walk around and enjoy the history and views.

Quiet in the winter months but its free which is a pleasant bonus. Its a nice walk up a narrow road off the main road. Plenty of parking places if you go by car. Some lovely views from the castle and theres a lighthouse on the way up and some old bunkers.

Really nice for a sunset, the pizza is good, but nothing special. But bad thing is when I went there they had a monkey in a cage, that’s ridiculous and old fashioned!!! That’s out of our time nowadays!

Wy do they do this? It is better to make an End for this poor Monkey. From the Castle is not so much to see. There is a big Restaurant an a few Stones left. The View is nice.

Perfect place, perfect location. You can see whole sarandë from there, you can see the best sunset. Nice stuff, quick service, the only thing that was not good was the food, when we ordered we got the food very quickly and it was cold.

The view is amazing. You can see the whole city from the top. The place is pretty romantic during sunset if it is not crowded. There are a few restaurants there, one of them being a pizzeria with decent prices but we didnt stay to eat so I dont know what the quality of food or service is like.

Parking and admission is absolutely FREE! And to top it all off there is a full service restaurant located inside where you can dine like royalty. This is a "must visit" destination... and dont forget to bring your appetite! 😋

Very beautiful place all year round. The grounds are immaculate and the restaurant is gorgeous. No visit to Saranda would be complete without a visit here. Great spot for a coffee, drinks or a meal — although a little on the more expensive side as would be expected. Highly recommended. A+

Small castle on a hilltop above city of Saranda, built in 1537 by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent to control Corfu, harbour of Saranda and the road that connected it with Butrint. Many nice restaurants are located in it currently. You could enjoy splendid views from all sides of the castle.

A must see while in Saranda, we went on a tour. Theres no entrance fee. Beautiful views of Saranda. Theres a restaurant open for dinner very nice ideal for date night or birthday celebration.

Astonishing view. Bad road to approach but worth to try. Excellent view to Saranda, sea, Krf and lake on the other side. Fine restaurant but no cakes and sweets, just ice cream. Also, it is working from 18.00 hours only. Worth to visit.

Nice view from the top of the hill (~300m). Maybe the best to visit around sunset. Approaching road is narrow. Lot of parking places at the top (gravel surface). In the castle is restaurant and one part like lot of tables to sit for some drinks and food.

Mixed feelings… pluses:- astonishing view on sunset, being in Sarande without visiting - terrible loss- restaurant and pizzeria are perfect ways to rest after climbing uphill- nicely english speaking staffMinuses:- Huge! garbage nearby. Parking lot next to lighthouse seems to be a „love shack” disgusting- bar: pretty expensive drinks, pizza was just „correct” in terms of tasteExcept from pros and cons - you should be aware that place is constantly visited by probably all tours passing by, so be ready for crowds taking pictures. If you choose privacy and peace - then don’t come :)

Castle in Saranda is on the highest place. There are auto way to castle. In castle you can find bar with kings chairs, viewpoints, bunkers, rest of ancient church with painted icons on walls, army weapon. Entrance is free and parking in front of it is free. Recommend to visit.
