Maidstone ME17 1PL, Dover
Travel from a medieval queen's room to the 1920s, plus gardens, golf, zip slides and falconry.
Leeds castle is a must visit for anyone wanting to absorb well kept history. The castle itself is beautiful with the moat and ponds giving a good sense of the extravagant life that was once lived there. Lady Baille who was the last private owner definitely had great taste and seeing the history of how well she treated the caretakers gives an appreciation of the lovely person she was. The grounds around the castle are vast and there are lots of exciting things for the kids. The castle also caters well for people with disabilities which is great.
One of my favourite places to visit. Great that one ticket gets you a year round visit.Stunning views and great weather we had. Love the gardens and the views fr afar of the castle. Pick a sunny day and you wont be disappointed.Great to see that the castle has switched it up a little and is moving with the times. They have a wonderful feature of all the women that have reigned at the castle and it was fantastic to see and read about it all.If youre looking for something to do for firework night too. I would highly recommend here as its spectacular and this would be our 5th visit for fireworks. It doesnt get old.
Stayed overnight here for a birthday treatAbsolutely amazed at the value for moneyThe room was immaculate, the three course dinner was exquisite, the staff around the grounds were friendly and helpful. Will definitely be pestering the hubby for another stay here.
Went on a tour here the castle itself is nice rich history great architecture. Though the actual castle interior itself was very tourist prepped up, follow the arrows stay within the ropes large text on walls explaining what it was like in this room with mannequins dressed and sounds of playing loudly off a speaker to give the illusion of a bustling room. Very much for kids. If youve been to empire state building imagine that. But besides the castle the surrounding land greenery gardens and fields are beautiful. Come for the castle but far more enjoy the scenery. There is also a winding garden maze that is fun and should definitely be experienced, tho the exit out of the maze turns into an underground grotto that screams childrens attraction at a theme park but its interesting youll think what is happening where this come from. Leeds Castle is ok if your on a tour that happens to stop here not just here. Its beautiful but feels very much like a kids attraction.
Leeds Castle Kent is a beautiful place and we have always thoroughly enjoyed our visits, however, the price of a family ticket has really gotten expensive in recent years (£106.00!!!for 2 adults 3 children. It does last for 1x year and you may visit as many times as you like, however, I am not entirely sure if we will be renewing next year… I wish day/monthly passes were a thing!
Lovely old castle, sadly turned into a private home in the 20s but still beautiful and classy. The grounds are absolutely stunning, many birds and water features everywhere.
The grounds are stunning, loved walking around the gardens and ponds. Dont take the train up or youll miss it! The castle itself is a sight to behold. Its probably one of the better castles to visit in England. The property is huge, plan to spend a few hours. Theres the grounds, the gardens, the lakes, the castle, the courtyard, the maze, the boat ride ... Etc. Should definitely be on your bucket list.
You can see most of the grounds/exterior of the castle without paying the expensive entry fee of £32. Great views of the Castle exterior and beautiful grounds. Unbeknownst to me you can actually walk through the main entrance without paying or you can walk to the right of the main kiosk area and find a 5 minute walk along a pathway to enter the grounds that way (see photo for tip on this). Rated 4/5 stars as we didnt actually go in the castle 🤣
This month was Leeds Castle design month hence my slightly different pictures of the castle! As a family we really enjoy Leeds Castle and the value the ticket brings. The events included throughout your annual season ticket are vast and make additional visits worth it.There are three different play areas for children along with adventure golf (extra charge), various areas to walk in and the castle itself. As an adult couple we enjoy the walks, the castle interior and the gardens.Sadly due to the ticket price rises and reduction on the amount of children allowed on a family ticket (from 4 to 3), as a family of 6 this now makes the season ticket unaffordable. I will miss visiting!
Visited during Easter for a second date and pleased to say we are together and incredibly happy! We enjoyed the Easter egg hunt and watched the bird of prey show. Both activities were great for all ages. We even got lost in the maze and made a few friends on the way. Will definitely be back!
Great day out we took a picnic as a meal was £20 plus and had to be reserved. £1.50p to take the little train ride to the Castle or if you need help there is a mini bus to take you up to the castle or there is a 10 minute walk up. In Plenty of places to see within the grounds. Flowers, ducks, swans. We even spotted 2 robot lawn mowers. Also a visit to see the Falcon show. Fantastic birds display. Well done to all the staff who look after the birds.
Beautiful place clean, well kept and lots to see and do.I love all the water birds that wander around by the lake especially all the baby signets and moorhens etcWe went on the train and the boat and had an hour on the Segway too which took us around the outskirts of the castleI can thoroughly recommend this as it was a lot of fun and quite easy to pick up.The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable I will be returning for another go on the Segway. The prices of food and drink are pretty horrendous but to be expected these days, we took our own food and had a nice picnic by the lake with the ducks and swans, had to share some of the sandwiches but not a problem as we couldn’t of asked for better company. We bought some duck pellets which cost £1 a bag and fed as many birds as we could including the fish in the lake who seemed to have a real liking for bird food!
Great views. Ample activities to do. Great place for children. At £32pp, its too expensive even compared to Windsor. Year around admission is good, if you live nearby.
Went here with a tour and really liked the castle and the surroundigs. It started with a video of the 7 queens who has lived in the castle and next you could walk through (a part ofthe castle.Nice souvenir shop too.Didnt have time to do the boat tour or go to the restaurant.
A wonderful place to visit. The walk to the castle was gorgeous and we loved the birds of prey kept there as well. Remember to walk down the bank of the moat to get a good photo of the side of the castle!
Lovely place!Great with kids or even for a date.If the weather is good, do a picnic! The maze is soo much fun!So great to see kids running around having fun but also very relaxing place in nature.Pretty big car park too!If you buy a ticket, it’s valid for a year with unlimited access!
What a beautiful place to visit! I have been wanting to go for ages and it certainly didnt dissapoint. The walk around the grounds was picturesque with beautiful gardens, the boat ride on the lake fun and the castle beautiful. A wonderful day out. Thank you
Ive been here many times. Every time I went the castle looks different.Handicap services are excellent. A bus will bring you up to the castle if youre not able to walk long distances. Unfortunately my mum couldnt get to the top floor in the castle due to her handicap. They offer a video about the castle as an alternative. My mum was very pleased with that. There are so many things to do. Well worth the money.Make sure you register youre ticket when you buy it. It will give you a chance to come back for free for a whole year.
A truly amazing castle, used mostly as villa for holidays. When i visited the main theme was the last private owner, Lady Baillie, since she putted a lot of effort into renovating the castle.I would have enjoyed seeing more about its ancient history but its still an amazing place to visit.
Great family day out at a lovely castle in beautiful surroundings. We had fun getting lost in the maze, had a look at the birds of prey, enjoyed walking around the gardens, loved the grotto and also took the short boat trip across the water. The ticket is valid for a year and allows you to visit again so not bad value if you live quite near. Theres lots to do for children and although my teenagers werent with me today, they would have loved the kids playground if they were a few years younger! I would recommend bringing a picnic as the food is a bit pricey. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars, is I think its a bit cheeky to charge extra for the boat and road train trips.
A great castle to visit! When we reach at 11, it looks crowded. However, the place is huge and have plenty of space for kids and adults to walk around! Beautiful castle and even playground at the end of the walk to let kids have fun. Also bird shows at 3.30.
Interesting place where families can spend a whole day. Lot of greenery, large waterbodies, lot of history, eating places, entertainment and fun. Will need lot of walking and climbing up and down. The palace is of historical interest and well maintained. The gardens, flowers etc are all well maintained and worth the entrance fee.
We went on a Thursday, so it was relatively quiet but for several school groups. The castle is interesting but wouldnt take a full day to see everything (including maze, grotto and gardensand it is a little expensive for what is there to see at £29ish. The only option for food is an outdoor takeaway area which seems a shame as there is a cafe but it only sells drinks and cakes not hot food. I was glad to visit but I wouldnt feel inclined to come again because of the price.
The castle itself is really well refurbished and the rooms are really accessible to walk around however the cost of entry is nuts versus the content that is available to the average person. The gardens are nice if not spectacular. Maybe if youve got kids it makes more sense (the adventure playground area looks like its good for little ones). The maze was great. It would be nice to speak to someone at the birds of prey area - shows are once per day so other than that its walking past a load of tethered animals with name plates. Food was overpriced (two sandwiches, a bottle of Coke Zero and a fruit roll-up was fifteen quid).
Fantastic place, a bit exspensive ticket £32 for an Adult. But the ticket is valid for a whole year, and you can go as many times as you like.Wear soft walking shoes, lots to see, take your camera. Theres a restaurant there and prices are pretty good.
Castle near Maidstone, Kent, NOT in Yorkshire- very confusing!!Great place to visit, Castle is amazing; as are the groundsTwo shops, plus cafes, restaurant etcLarge car park
Stunning vistas and lots to see and do !Leeds Castle is breathtakingly beautiful 😍There are play areas for children, a good choice of food & drink, gift shops and so much more.Theres a maze and some cute little cottages that are available as b&bs.I highly recommend purchasing a yearly ticket which gives unlimited access for the year.Theres always plenty to do with concerts and food festivals going on throughout the year.A family friendly place to visit
Great place to spend the day. Loads to see and do. Absolutely beautiful grounds, well maintained and a pleasure to walk about! A castle and museum to enjoy. The activities set up around the site are perfect for children and adults. Really enjoyable visit
Never disappoints this place. They have rearranged the main building and you get more of a feel of the place. The grounds are beautiful and you can picnic just about anywhere. It IS pricey to get in now though. £32 with a paltry £1 off for students and seniors. Honestly that felt like an insult, why bother for a £1. The ticket does mean you can come back as many times as you like over the next year but unless you live local thats unlikely. So, as I say pricey if you can only go once. We enjoyed it but we are unlikely to get a ticket next year.
Everyone should go if you get the chance. The grounds are beautifully kept, the plants, flowers were beautiful in bloom. Loved the castle. Reading all about Lady Baillie, the former owner/ heiress. We stayed on the glamping site. Had a lovely barbecue, then after we went for a lovely walk around the grounds at night. The sun was setting and we got some great shots of the castle. When we got back we toasted marshmallows at the fire pit.
So wanted to hate this place because of the advertising (a bit Madame Tussaudsbut was very surprised at the gardens (May). We had the Gardeners World 2for1 card so saved around £30. We had a wonderful day out and can only commend the staff who were all friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Mr Todd to suggested we visit the free bird of prey display befor the Castle. Have to say the Castle needs more dressing and furniture.
Enjoyable experience.Annual ticket online costs £29Lasts 1 year can go as many times as one likes. This ticket includes all entries to thier yearly advertised eventsWe saw the jousting tournament yesterday.Very helpful staff.Lots of parkingLovely castle to walk aroundNot enough ice cream vansNot enough mens toilets provided.
Beautiful castle turned country house. The Castle itself was well preserved, maintained and a good set piece of 1920s style estate housing.Main pull for me was the grounds and gardens. Absolutely stunning. Well kept gardens and with lots to see and do. Can recommend the birds of prey house.
Excellent place to visit seems expensive to go in but loads to do when youre in lovely grounds and food good the wife recommends the breakfast bacon roll for a fiver! The maze is excellent but dont get lost like we did there is a nice surprise when you finally get to the centre though the whole day comes highly recommended.
This was a last minute decision, but so glad we went. The grounds are stunning with so.much to do and see.Adult tickets were £32 each which provides us with access for the year, which makes it totally worth it as we will defo be going back.We visited the castle - very interesting tour - really gave us an insight to the life of a socialite in the 1920s/1930s, (last entrance to the castle is 4pm btw), then had a picnic on the grass and a leisurely stroll.Cant wait to go back.
Buy tickets for the train ride back to the car park from the shop before you leave (or as soon as you get there)! It would help if the sign telling you that you had to buy tickets in advance for the train was more on the footpath where you walk past to get to the castle rather than right up buy the train stop. You can use your Gardeners World 2 for 1 Garden card here. Lots of room for picnics and very friendly ducks and geese to watch.Wear suitable shoes for walking!
Absolutely beautiful grounds with lots of birds and water to see. The castle is magnificent and a must see. Your ticket, once purchased, is valid for a year. You can return as often as you like within that year.
Pretty castle with extensive grounds, gardens and a maze. At least 2 playgrounds for children, there were lots of families around. The ticket is on the pricey side but you can use it for a whole year.
We visited making use of the National Lottery ticket promotion. The walk through the gardens was very pleasant, the maze was fun (wear wellies if it is/has been raining as there are large puddles), we also thoroughly enjoyed the adventure golf. The only criticism is the lack of food options for dietary requirements.
This is one of the best ways to spend a day. Just an hour and a half out of London and so much to do at just one place. You have the very very nice grounds. You have the castle / keep that is old and yet so new, we had an out of hours tour booked that made ut even special! Dave The peacock. The owls and other birds of prey... We had an experience with the owls.... The maze and the grotto, whihc is fun to get lost in and fun while getting out... The mini golf course. Of course theres eating and gift shopping. The mini train.. The dog collar museum.. Loved every minute we were there.
Great day out, castle interesting and steeped in history. Kids absolutely loved the maze and underground grotto, also the large castle play area. They didnt want to go home.
One of the most scenic places in England, its reputation is already well established. Quite easy to spend a full day here but wise to bring your own food. The castle tour is great and there is plenty to entertain children as well.
Beautiful grounds, polite staff, tasty food and drinks in the many cafés, educational, informative, excellent fun for all the family. Highly recommended! Can be pricey for a single ticket, but they are valid for unlimited visits for 12 months ☺️
Cant believe Ive never been here before, beautiful castle with a moat set in lovely grounds. Nought a day ticket that is valid for a year, so lots of time to go back and see the grounds changing, revisiting the castle, and exploring the bits we didnt see today - a maze, mini golf, playground and more. Lots of places around to get a coffee, conveniences, znd even a train to and from the castle (ar £1 each way per person).
This is a stunning estate and very well managed. You pay for one day and get free entry for the next 12 months. The cafés are great and there is plenty to see and do. Great for the family and plenty of free parking
Had a great day out here. Enjoyed the maze and grotto, and the castle is fab. Your ticket gets you in all year so we will be back in the summer to explore the grounds more.
We visited Leeds castle during the week, in February, Wednesday to Friday and stayed at the Stable Courtyard Bed& Breakfast. Perfect time as there werent many people around and we could explore everywhere - the gardens, the castle, the Falconry, The Dog Collar collection. There are plenty places to have a meal around as well - coffee shop near the mini golf course, the Castle view restaurant, bar/coffee shop next to it and a lunch place that is also next to the restaurant. There are two playgrounds for small and older kids and a mini golf.I recommend to visit the Falconry - the guys there are amazing and they can tell you all about the birds of prey. They take some of them out around 11ish so you can have a closer look 🦅🦉The castle itself was very nice to explore too. Part of it was under renovation that should be finished by April 2022. So we could not see the library. It is a beautiful place with a rich history and it is amazing that some of the rooms are used even today.I recommend to everyone to visit. We are def going back Spring/Summer time when it is greener ❤️☀️🏰
A beautiful place to visit for a day trip around London especially in summers. Just an hours drive from Kingston. Beautiful castle with lovely gardens and birds. A perfect place of entertainment for an entire family. Getting lost in the garden maze is pretty much of an attraction for all ages
Lovely day at Leeds Castle today it is beautiful. Went arround the Castle and outside, watched a bird of prey display. The grounds are vast with beautiful lakes there is crazy golf a large play area for children and a large maze.Didnt get to go in the maze as time ran out so much to do for the whole family. Will definitely visit again and again as now I paid entry the ticket last for a yr. Well worth the ticket price.A lovely start to the new year
What an awesome place to visit for the whole family. All the staff are excellent and very helpful. The castle is set in a wonderful mix of open fields and gardens. This gives the option of walking around the open grounds, or sitting and relaxing in some of the beautiful garden areas. The castle itself is very well laid out and dressed in a way to show you the entire history of the site through the years. On top of that there is a maze ,crazy golf and a falconry area. There really is something for everyone, great day out.
