Large windows look out over the lake from this wood-dominated Thai dining room with Asian artworks.
I live in Thailand, and I can tell you that the restaurant is not run by Thai people. The food is not authentic. The service staff wear Thai sarongs, but are all Chinese. They were not warm but were like robots. We ordered crab soup (Tom kha poo), which came with packaged crab sticks rather than crab meat. Quite dissapointingThe crispy duck with soy sauce was sweet. Many extra sachets of sugar and sweet soy sauce. Never tasted this on a Thai menu before. More Chinese. The kraphao fish was alright, not the best but not the worst.Overall Id not recommend this place if you are looking for authentic food. The ambiance of the lake would be nice during the day, but unfortunately we were here for dinner.
Horrible experience ! Nothing good except the view which starts to be less enjoyable when you are there ! Something is wrong with the staff ! Underpaid (not possible in Switzerland though, so I guess it’s just the attitudeI read the other reviews, seems a lot of them have noticed the staff are not cordial at all ! Pity this place could be so much better !
Messy and infinite menu of Thai classics, fast service
Most Asian restaurants in Switzerland are (understandablyWesternized - the foods taste and spiciness are adjusted for the western tongue. Le Thai au Lac, however, does it a bit better. Their menu is a bit pricey, but the taste is worth it.
Well, it was testy but thanks to one of our friend with asian roots ( who tasted all the ordered disheswe have found out that all was made in the same style and not necessarily in the Thaï style..But the proximityof the lake and the view definitely make up for it
Beautiful view and ambient, however, the staff were inundated, not welcoming at all. Food were adequate. It could have been a wonderful anniversary dinner! At least the view is picturesque 😵💫
Nice restaurant, you can eat on the terrace watching the sunset, the location is definitely their biggest asset. The food was very tasty, although quite expensive.
Table of 7, our meal order was completely forgotten, when they finally realised they had forgotten us after 1h, we tried to put a positive spin on things by ordering a second round of drinks while we waited again but they forgot the drinks... Anyway after two of us had a coffee after the meal we were expecting to have the coffees deducted from the bill but it was met by an aggressive "you paye", pointing to the bill. So I payed in exchange for this comment. The general experience was bad, when we left the place, nothing to do with the restaurant but police had between 5 and 10 peoples handcuffed sitting on the floor in front of the place.
Tasty food and stunning view over the lake
Great food. Chaotic service
Always good food. But the staff needs to be trained
Bad quality, in reality this is a bad Chinese restaurant with prices of a good restaurant. The service is horrible, although the waiters are nice they are very slow (too few for so many tables). If you want to have good food and memories, avoid this place.
The scenery is beautiful, the terrasse is nice. Food is very good and is quickly served. I definitely recommend.
Delicious food, especially the soups were exceptional. Very friendly and efficient staff.Set in a beautiful location, made us feel like a holiday
Excellent Thai food! Have been traveling in Thailand a lot and this restaurant does really make me miss Thailand, very authentic! Can only recommend!
Very interesting place, with amazing view on the lake
Very nice restaurant with a beautiful view on the lake! The food is really good and you have a variety of choice.
Nice place and good food. The service is terrible and the staff is rude. Not customer friendly at all.
Big restaurant front of Vidy lake. There has indoor and outdoor seating. Food is very tasty (real Thai because we request itThe price is not too expensive
Staff forgot one of our coke orders, even after being reminded a few times, otherwise food was alright, not amazing, but decent
Average... The setting is great (terrace and view), but the food is not Thai quality and the staff is incredibly rude... Blame it on the sunshine and abundance of customers? Maybe, but they shouldnt take things for granted: a nice location only doesnt make a good restaurant.
Good food, excellent terrace dinning on good weather.
Nice restaurant at the lake.We only had a beef salade (spicy 😋and the mixed starters, together with alcohol free cocktails.Presentation, as well as the taste of the food, were fine.
It was very crowded but we could manage to get a table for two. You have to book if you want a table with a view on the lake. The soup was divine and so were the prawns, the salad and rice. Fresh fruit for dessert plus fruit mousse. And for a reasonable price. We were delighted.
Beautiful setting and good food (my favorite being the stir-fried beef with thai basil — try it once instead of ordering your standard sweet and sour…). Quick service, too. Some critical notes: it’s a bit overcrowded and prices seem to increase while the size of the servings decrease… also, the garden would deserve some tidying up.
Delicious food, plenty of choice and excellent service.Absolutely one of the best restaurant of the region
Gods masterpiece
Location right on the lake. Food was nice ,green curry not really authentic. The service was cordial but a bit slow, but it was busy so...
I’ve only had two dishes from here both for take away; chicken Pad Thai and what I think was Khao Pad King (it was a mistake what I ordered). Both are good the dish they gave me accidentally was great in fact, strong fish sauce but in a more authentic Asian manner. Very spicy I wish I knew what it was.
Awesome food with authentic Thai taste, pretty well prepared at a reasonable price, with amazing views, but the staff is always very busy.
Great terrace right by the lake. I had a green curry that was just right.
Ive got recommended for asian restaurant in Lausanne.A nice Thai food, and i ordered Prok fried rice, sweet and sour fish, stir fry mixed vegetables and tom yam soup. All the menu ive ordered taste delicious. Also good hospitality from the staff.
Best Thai Food you can find in Lausanne, and on top an amazing view!! Service is above average for Switzerland, could be especially during peak times a bit quicker and more organized. But all in all, highly recommended restaurant right by the lake!P.S. the red Thai curry is the best!
Very nice Thai food in a pleasant environment. The restaurant is located just by the lake with outdoor seatings which is awesome in summer. They also propose a buffet brunch on weekend which is very good. The staff is super friendly so I’m used to come often. Just think about booking as it is very demanded
Food is ok, but the service is poor. We sat in the garden and unfortunately had smokers next to us. We asked to be moved to another table and they said no (There were other tables available...). We got up and went to Jardin Thai instead for an excellent meal.
I went there with my colleagues from work on our lunch break and it was really lovely. The location is really incredible facing the lake directly, as for the food they offer a buffet for 21 CHF only with wide range of good Thai food. We really enjoyed it : Definitely must try!
Probably some of the best Thai food you can find in Lausanne. Fair prices, amazing location with an impressive view on the lake. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Weekdays they offer an all you can eat lunch buffet with different curry available with meat or vegetarian. Reservation recommended for dinner.
The quality has gone down over the years. And its not as authentic as it once was. It used to be very spicy, now its a bit tasteless. And the place itself is nothing to talk about. It is nice during summer though. Chinese doing service is not very good as expected. Still one of the better thai restaurants in town.
Very good Thai food and normal prices. Weve tried their food several times (sit in and deliveryand everything was very tasty. Generous portions too. Try the starter with prawns, the Phad Thai and the prawns with Thai basil.
Sunday brunch menu limited and staff was rude. I called days in advance asking for a table by the window and they said they’d try and instead they seated us by the door at 13:00 even with tables empty. I asked why she didn’t just advise me in advance that no tables remained and she told me off with a scowl saying we can sit in front he empty chairs if we wanted a drink.
Went back to the restaurant for the second time in June. The food is very good and you actually get a big portion. I could not even finish all of it. The staff are very friendly but their English is very limited. The place was full both times so I will suggest to phone and book. The location is also very nice and you have a view over the lake if you sit outside in the summer.
The staff was very nice and kind, location is good but that’s the only positive i can say about this place. The sweet and sour chicken was tastless, the rest of the dishes mediocre. Very disappointing.
Good quality and inexpensive lunch buffet. Nice seeing area outside (summer timewith great views over lake Geneva.
Honest prices, pretty decent food although very spicy. Very good location in front of the lake. The personnel is very pleasant
Beautiful place, comfortable sofas, nice live music. Food looks very good. But we were there to enjoy a cocktail, CHF 15, with alcohol. The Mojito was the worst I ever had. Even the one of my friend without alcohol tasted better ...
There 21 chf lunch buffet is a great deal those sunny days. Outstanding view over the lac, decent food & service.
Good buffet style food. Not a lot of variety at their buffet but good food and reasonable prices. Service is fast and good. Can be very busy during normal peak lunch hours and they usually starting running out of items at their buffet close to 1:30pm at lunch time. Excellent and nice location and if weather allows, sit outside! :-)
An all you can eat Thai buffet with good quality and a perfect lakeside location. Getting there requires parking and walking through the park towards the lake.
As a main dish, I had Gambas with coconut milk were great and had a hint of anise which was really surprising. Please skip desert when youre there however, its not so special. But if you really want to, take the Takoo, which is a kind of coconut flesh in pandan leaves.
The buffet (famous for itis just horrible and sadly nothing Thai like in Thailand but something modified between a Chinese fast food and an European Thai restaurant... go away of that restaurant (the terrace is awesomely beautiful at the lake by the way thats why I put 1 star as there s no 0 star available )
