Le Palais - Cantonese restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan
Wonderful service!! All the food was amazing.
Whilst the taste is there, I cant understand the highest accolade. There is nothing that really shone. The service was underwhelming, a bit chaotic at times notwithstanding the large number of staff. Very interiors and porcelains, but not enough to justify the 3 stars nor the hefty price. The duck was very nice and the show for the first carving was also nice. Im wuite clueless on the rationale behind the star ratings of Taipei restaurants, quite unimpressed. Many smaller restaurants deserve more spotlight.
Great experience. My expectation was high before the visit since its a three-star restaurant, and it didnt disappoint me.Among all the dishes we ordered, my favorites are baby duck, porridge, braised seafood and tofu with shrimp sauce, and deep-fried cheese pastry. The signature roast duck course is a must-order, yet, I highly recommend ordering the baby duck as well. I love that the meat is tender and the porridge is so smooth. They also provide Shou Tao, a peach-shaped dim sum filled with sweet bean paste and is commonly offered as a birthday present in Chinese culture, to birthday diners. The service is very good. They even have fill light while were taking group photos.
This is so much more than a food experience, the whole setting, service and care taken was exceptional, and of course the food is amazing. We were a table of 10, including a small child for lunch. Donna, our waitress managed everyone and everything meticulously, she made the experience so much more memorable. Right down to providing a candle for the little one to blow out as he was being entertained whilst signing happy birthday, when it was no one at the tables birthday....As for the the food, the Cantonese duck is superb, being juicy, crispy and very tasty. I found every dish here to be well prepared and very well served. Other standout dishes for me were the pan fried scallion cake, crispy sugar BBQ pork cheek and the stir fried julienne tofu with chicken and ham. Every single dish was delicious, mentioning the dishes above is not taking anything away from the others. We were even allowed to cancel a dish at the last minute due to the amount of food we had ordered.I would highly recommend a visit here if you would like to have a great dining experience.
We chose the set II for 2 people. Everything is just amazing!!! Love the experience 👌
We had a party in one of their restaurants. The food was more than great, a little off of traditional Taiwanese food, but absolutely greatI happen to have stayed in their rooms before and enjoyed their buffets, same: absolutely great.
I tried many Pekking Duck in Seoul Korea but none of them could satisfy me. But I had Pekking Duck? Chicken? here and it completely changed my mind. Pekking Duck?Chicken? here was so nice. What I had in Seoul Korea...I am not going to have the dish in Seoul again. This restaurant is so good. I can recommend anyone that this restaurant is one of the greatest restaurants in the world.
Great dining environment, delicious food and good service. I had their set menu that night when I visited. I really enjoyed the food they served and I had good time that night. Theyve achieved all the elements that a fine dining restaurant should be and they deserved the Stars. Ill definitely visit again and try other menus.
This is handsdown my favorite cantonese style restaurant, I can’t believe i waited so long to come! Besides the ifamous beijing style duck, other memorable dishes include the sha gong crab, turnip pastry, rice rolls and chashao pastry, piping hot and delicious!
Highly recommend! They have their own delivery service and make sure everything is right! All the meals are packed in a very thoughtful way with customized hand drawing paper bags. The meals are fantastic and the taste is well kept. We will certainly go to their restaurant next time. Overall, they deserve five stars!
Highly recommended - Delicious duck, super professional timely correspondence and heartwarming service - even for delivery/takeaway.Order the duck from Le Palais as a gift for my parents since they have been staying at home due to the pandemic. Le Palais did not disappoint, and they have exceeded my expectation. It was very easy to reach out to the team through online message platform, and received very timely and helpful response. The duck was delivered right on time with all safety measures in place, and it was well packed and absolutely delicious. The staff even took time to write a heartwarming cheerful message. Devils in the details and during this challenging time these small and thoughtful gesture means a lot.
I’ve had pecking duck fromBeijing to Yilan and Taipei. I gotta say the 先知鴨 is the best I’ve had around the world! The service was superb, all dishes were well seasoned and well balanced! Would love to visit again to try the flaming duck.
Three years in a row since Michelin started rating in Taipei, this is still the only one 3 Michelin Starred restaurant in Taipei. I visited after one year, the food maintains very good taste combined with Hong Kong and Taiwanese styles. The service is better and better. The famous dish you have to order is flaming Peking duck. The chef performing in front of the table makes the meal amazing. Some dim sums are special you may try. Overall, it’s a very good restaurant in Taipei that you have to go if you have limited time in Taipei.
Officially my favorite restaurant in Taipei! I loved every dish! Especially the duck, braised seafood and tofu, crispy roast duck, Cantonese sponge cake, and egg tart! Would definitely come back again.
The decor/ service is great and all the Cantonese dim sum are my fav. As for the duck, we like the baby duck more than the bigger one. I would love to go back to try the set menu.
I have been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for a few months. A group of friends had helped to book the reservation with a set menu. The overall price came to a little over three thousand NTD. I left full. The food was excellent, with many courses. The service was incredible. For example, our room, with 11 guests, had a dedicated butler who would help us prepare and serve the food. At the end he also helped us to take a group picture and had a light to shine so that we could take better picture. All the dishes were delicious. I love the Beijing duck maybe the most. Im curious to try other meals at this restaurant in the future.
The food and service amazing here. They are well known for their Peking duck which needs to be reserved 2-3 days ahead. I highly recommend ordering the rice roll with shrimp and lobster inside. Probably the best dish of the night.⭐️4/5 - Food: the food tasted amazing, but I wouldnt say its fine dining. Its an Chinese restaurant, so expect nice tasting Chinese food, not delicate food. My complain would probably be on the third duck dish, we decided to get congee. Before we ordered the dish, the server mention that they will use the duck bones to cook the congee, indeed they did, but there was also huge chunks of duck meat inside. I felt that they could have made another dish with the duck meat instead of just throwing everything (huge chunks of meat and bonesinto the congee!⭐️5/5 - Service: the waitresses here are well trained. They will show you to the restroom, and even shine a light on you (in low light areato ensure you have pretty pictures.⭐️3/5 - Atmosphere: the decor was nice, but the dining room was a bit dark. We were sat down in a more open space area, and the tables are quite close to each other. So it became quite noisy while we were eating. It was pretty unfortunate that we were sat next to a table with two kids and another table across us with a crying baby. Probably will make sure to request a booth next time I visit.
It was my reunion with my friends every half year. We booking three months ago so all of us are expect this restaurant. We have 7 people at this time. They upgraded us into box for our launch. It’s so great. One waiter service one box onlyThe meals are all perfect. It has own features every foods.Overall of this restaurant I’ll say perfect and I will expect next time I come.
Would have given this place a 3 star but for their duck of course. Ordered the firey duck, which comes with 20 rolls, for two. The duck was delicious but the condiments were almost verging on being extra. Ordered a vegetable dish to balance the nutrition and it was just okay. The tea recommended by the wait staff was excellent. It roughly translates to Buddha hand tea. The ambiance was comfortable and music quite soothing. Nothing stood out though. I am not sure at all where they got the 3 Michelin stars from. Someone had to have slept with someone, in my opinion.
Don’t have high expectation! Atmosphere is good. Tea is good!
As a student who ralely try a find dinning restaurant. My feeling of this restaurant is this is a good dinning hall in overall. Unfortunately,I have to say I’m more likely to buy the food what I used to eat in night street or local food store. That is suitable on me.
The roasted duck (eaten three waysMay be the single best dish around. Very friendly service and dim sum bursting with flavor (especially the BBQ pork sweet bun, rice roll with shrimp). Maybe not 3 Michelin stars good but certainly worth a trip.
It’s the cheapest Michelin 3 star in the world. Everything is perfect. You can’t judge anything.we are here for celebrating lunar new year reunion. We booked a room and the decor in this room is gorgeous. The room provides the closet and hangers for your coats so do worry your coat will eat food. The steward is handsome and give you an incredible service. He can take the perfect group photo for us. This resistant even have the photograph light for customer to take the photo. Why I didn’t mention any food? Because each plate is perfect, yon don’t worry you will take any terrible plate.
A real 🌟 🌟 🌟 Michelin experience, from the A to Z they just made it perfect, food was unbelievable, highly recommend the shrimp dumpling, it’s the only restaurant that came close to THE EIGHT in MacauWill definitely go back
Good experience to learn the best miclilin 3 stars dinner. The best taste, the best service all the time that I have spent in this restaurent.Very dilicious every dishes.
Great food and service, price is also friendly as a three star restaurant.
Foods wasn’t surprising me as A 3 star Michelin restaurant, and the sommelier was that professional either. But service is good, very welcoming staffs.
As you see, it is in a fancy and luxurious hotel and this restaurant is at the top floor 17F. The food and service is all 5 stars standard and it is great to have different taste of some 5 stars!
Food, Service, Decor, and Ambiance worthy of 3 Michelin stars! Side dishes were a miss for me, but almost everything else was excellent. Several items are must-try and captioned in my photos. Off the top of my head they are: Cantonese Style Crispy Roast Duck Course, Le Palais Signature Barbeque Pork, Roast Suckling Pig, and Steamed Bun w/ Salty Egg Custard inside.
Food, atmosphere, and service was absolutely incredible. A memorable experience.
If you are looking for high end, delicate Chinese cuisine with the perfect atmosphere in Taipei, this is definitely where you should worth every dollar they charge. Every dish was presented in pure elegance and perfection. Even yum cha dishes like the spring rolls, had the right crispiness and balanced taste inside. The Cantonese crispy roast duck 3 way course was worth every penny. We had the duck taro rice noodle soup, the duck pancake wraps and the duck breast slices in sauce (not sure what its called nowas our three courses. The soup was delicious, full of duck flavour with a bit of taro flavour (not overpowering at all for people who dont like taro). The staff were amazingly professional, polite and attentive. We were curious about what was the Chinese poem printed on the paper table mats so we asked the male manager on duty. It was Tang dynasty poem written in the traditional runny Chinese calligraphy writing but he not only recited it all, but also explained line by line in plain Mandarin the emotion and message the poet was trying to convey. We were all impressed by the managers knowledge and professionalism. If you have an important guests to please or a special occasion in Taipei, Id highly recommend bringing them here!
Nice deco and cozy atmosphere to prepare you for great food, a 3-star restaurant never disappoint you.
3 Michelin star Cantonese restaurant in Taipei. My expectations were high. Came to taste their famous crispy roast duck which has to be pre-ordered.They started us off with a vingearish sour tea? I believe this is to open your appetite. The duck itself was split into 4 different courses. To start off, the chef comes out with the duck and you can see it roasting in the fire as they start to cut and prep it for you. They do expect you to want to take pictures and give you advance notice. The first two plates were Peking duck style with the skin prepared in two different ways. Cant quite remember what the difference was. The first few pieces you eat are yummy but with two people we had a lot of food. You start to notice the flavor of the crispy duck skin was a bit bland with the pancake and they used large pieces of scallions/green onions which made that flavor a bit overpowering compared to the duck. Still yummy to eat though and I do like scallions.Next course was the duck meat. Not particularly sure how to describe the way it was made. Sliced pieces of meat with sauce on it. Least impressive part of the meal. The meat was dry by itself hence the sauce. Except the sauce was too salty.Third was one of my favorites, you get a choice on how you prepare the boney parts. We requested it fried. Very good, and not too try for something was that fried.Know what I enjoyed most about the meal? The tea. It was nice sitting there in a somewhat quiet environment with dark decor sipping tea with my guest. That was probably what made it into such a nice evening. When we left they gave us some tea bags to bring home to enjoy. The service was nice, always there to refill.my tea.
Honestly I have been here before Michelin awarded and wasnt impressed. I thought it would change much but I still question about the 3-star Michelin. The food is alright, not bad but not 3-star for sure.Service is good.
It’s very delicious, every meal is so special and nice, the duck is so tender and juicy. And the rice roll so tasty , you can see there has a big shrimp inside!the chicken is so crispy and juicy with the pepper and salt! The view is also great! We had two kind of tea during our lunch ! Tea is so great! And server is really nice and kind , she told us every dish what the story inside and where is the duck and chicken come from!
Best Cantonese restaurant in Taipei. The roast duck comes with three variations.Traditional wrap, duck breast and taro rice noodle soup. All delicious!Great food, service and decor.Plan a month ahead and book on eztable on 1st of each month to secure ideal date.
The attendants are very vigilant and thoughtful, my family and little niece were well-served, while the duck cuisine is bit of under my expectation, without too much surprise like other 3-star michelin restaurants.
Came for roast duck n dim sum; however roast duck wasn’t that impressive. ( It’s still good, just I expected too much! )Scallion cake, radish cake n deep fired cheese pastry are highly recommended!Good service n dining area 👍
Emmmm. Mixed bag review after dined here. The quality of the raw material are really top notch. But the cooking style may be too subtle. Equivalent Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong is more enjoyable in my opinion
Since Ive been to a number of Michelin star restaurants in Europe, I was very excited to try the only 3 star restaurant in Taiwan. Overall, the good and ambience was about 4, but service and price brought it down to a 3. The Michelin set is on the expensive end at AUD$670 per person, but to be fair the portion sizes can easily feed two. I thought half the dishes were amazing but the other half was a tad too salty for me and the seafood wasnt as fresh as I had expected. In terms of service, if you like it quick (they hover around and remove your dish whilst youre still chewing on that last bite), then theyve aced it. I prefer to savour my meal without pressure. The other surprise was that on top of a deposit, we had to prepay the set meal in advance! Unheard of! Overall, not worth it, unless it is priced under $300 per person.
A 3 Michelin star restaurant showcasing Cantonese food with some Taiwanese influences. In terms of the food a lot of it was quite good. But considering that it was approximately 300usd per person (we had a group of 10, strictly speaking in terms of value, I wouldnt recommend it. The service is not up to the standard of what I would expect at a 3 Michelin star restaurant (it wasnt bad, but it wasnt exactly noteworthy or memorable). Some of the more notable dishes were the almond milk (wonderful aroma and mouth feel.), Turnip cakes (Cantonese style), and the BBQ pork. We also had the BBQ roast duck (served 3 wayswhich was doused in cooking wine and set aflame. The skin was crispy and had a wonderful texture to it. All in all the food was not bad but definitely not much in terms of value. Would not believe this to be a 3 star Michelin unless explicitly told.
Such a nice time for lunch here. The table set for 1 was great, service was extreamly nice & helpful. Food is best if compare with other Chinese restaurant I tried for this trip. A bit expensive than other Chinese restaurant in 5 stars hotel & reservation is required.
We were super excited by this experience.First impression, non english speaker to take us in charge at the elevator exit... little bit disappointing for the non mandarin speaker expecting the service of a 3 star michelin. At the end i understand that the girl wants to take my umbrella for the loackroom. The atmosphere; design and all the table plates and details are a real 3 star michelin. But, after such an expectation, if you already know the traditionnal taiwanese dishes, no surprise on the menu. The quality is higher than in a lambda taiwanese restaurant of course. Service could be better. Actually only the young man, James, a runner i think, was trying to make an effort for the non mandarin speaker at our table. The waiters didnt explain anything, expecting that the mandarin speaker of the table will do the translation..... Plus not so pleasant to have to look after a waiter when you need someone.... Please its a 3 stars Michelin.
Reasonable price and fancy interior. They worth to receive the grade in Michelin recommend due to the service and interior design. However, the cuisines were not so high quality in my opinion. I would say roasted duck worth to try, it was a show, the chef dripped sorghum wine over the ready-to-eat duck to make it more delicious, standing by our table. Afterward, there were nothing surprised us after duck dishes.
Amazing food, service, and decor. It is no wonder that this place received a three star from Michelin. Be sure to book ahead of time though. Pretty much all the dishes were amazing for me. Dishes that left the deepest impression on me were the abalone shaomai, roasted duck meat rolls, and the pork eyebrow tendon (never knew there was such a thing).
As one of the very few Michelin 3 star Chinese restaurant in the world, we had to come. Nice ambience, great decor, elegant setting. Unfortunately, the ceiling is kind of of low and no views, though on the 17th floor. Had the $4K dinner set. Each dish had its own uniqueness in taste and flavor. Abalone was excellent. My favorites were the chicken soup with fish maw and the thin noodles, they both were so delicious with such wonderful flavors. Service was excellent! Most importantly, this is probably the only Michelin 3 star restaurant where you could get a dinner set at this price!
84/100 To be honest I wasn’t really amazed by the food, the service was defiantly nice, food however was alright for me, 7 people for roughly $15,000. Quite pricey, and taiwan beer are $$$$
Overall, it is really tasty, but it’s not that great to have Michelin three stars. The ambience is nice but too dark, and the service is very SOP not that dedicated to customers. Try the duck, small but nice.
2018 Taipei Michelin 3 Starred recommended restaurant!! Awesome Cantonese Cuisines and Chef Chen is very friendly! A must eat if you’re in Taipei.Lunch dim sums are awesome!! Two thumbs up 👍👍
Nice food and dim sum here with perfect service. But not every dish amazes me, though they are averagely good.
