Classic and regional dishes from southwest France in low-lit brasserie, popular with theatre crowd.
We had onglet steak off the pre theatre menu and baby chicken from the main menu - both very good - and lovely homemade lemon tart to follow. It is very small upstairs where we were sitting, and we were a little cramped right next to the kitchen door. There seemed to be a more lively atmosphere downstairs (where apparently there werent any tables available despite several people being ushered there long after we had arrived)
My wife and I arrived without a reservation. We were seated and never felt rushed even though the table was reserved later in the evening. Our server was friendly and exceptionally helpful. We enjoyed onion soup w boeuf bourguignon and escargots w pork filet. The wine was young, but delicious. We were in Paris a few weeks back and enjoyed this meal every bit as much as the meals in Paris.
Very bad experience. Weve been one hour and 15 minutes there and they have served just starters. We had to ask for the drinks because they didnt serve them when we were eating already the starter. We saw how they served first and second plates (the second was the same as ourstwo tables that came after us (about 10 mins laterand they didnt serve us. We had to leave as we saw we werent having dinner
I booked it on open table to celebrate my birthday. So we had a wine that i ordered, which we enjoyed. We ordered the main and we have to wait for more than an hour for it i have to chase it. They forgot our order and came after 3 mins. The food was bland and dry my friends was really dissapointed for the price of it.The chips look like came from airfyer its not fresh and burnt. The chicken is dry inside and tasteless, the burger is good its just soggy. My birthday cake which my sister asked has to wait for another 10-15 mins. So we just left. It wasted our time, and money.
Fantastic food and service, not too keen for asking to leave before finishing our drinks!!. Overall, great experience.
We loved it! Was post theatre and this added to the whole experience. All of the food we had was well cooked and very tasty. The atmosphere was cosy and intimate, service was great, we were made to feel welcome, and like part of the family! It was all round a fantastic evening.
After theatre dinner, party of 8, 9:45 pm, super accomodating, they treated us like family. The food was beyond amazing, the service impeccable, the restaurant is exquisitely decorated. We had the moules mariniere, assiete charcuterie, pate de campagne, fondue de "Vacheray", cassoulet, entrecot, bouef bourguignone, coquelette, rib eye, entrecote, salad du chevre chaud, la tarte au citron, fondant et cheesecake and everything was perfectly executed, absolutely delicious.Lauren, Paul, Naomi, Dana, Nicola, and the rest of the staff gave us the best dining experience in the trip. I didnt want to leave. Love you guys! Pura vida! Come to Costa Rica so I can return the love. Naomi, tu es tres belle
Too crowded, small tables squeezed in everywhere. Food good but nothing special. Did not serve any non alcoholic beers which in todays age is archaic.
Nice and cosy place. We stayed for hours without being rushed out (like some other places dothe creme Brulee is very good. You also get a very large portion for the moules frites.
Fabulous french restaurant with delicious food at great prices! Service was attentive without being overbearing. We will return!
Had the fondue, was nice but not exceptional. Great location. Quirky place and felt very authentic.
Perfect for dinner before a show. Set menu is cheap for the quality of food, staff are friendly, and a great vibe downstairs.
Had a great lunch here. Friendly service, their set meal is very worth it. The portions are generous - we had the moules frites and it came in a big pot! The only thing is that the cheese wasnt fully melted in the onion soup. We had the plat du jour which was rabbit stew - fab choice! All in all, we were pleased with our impromptu lunch plan. Seats outside are perfect for autumn but maybe a little challenging to get the attention of the wait staff but not a very big deal.
Fantastic experience again at Le Garrick. Third visit over the last few years and have received consistently the same excellent service and delicious food. Its like a little piece of France in London!
Love this place.French cuisine at its best!Staff are very attentive.
A really great meal. Very good food, really friendly service.A very enjoyable afternoon.
We absolutely love this restaurant . Owned and run by a French family it is just a little bit of France in London.Wonderful authentic French food and excellent service. Do give it a try.
Overcooked mussels, watery sauce. Not sure how this place gets almost 4.5 stars - either good chef departed or people who have eaten here dont have a real experience with French food and think what they get is of good quality.
This place is very rustic and cute. Staff were so friendly. They dont have a gluten free menu but the waitress talked to the chef for us and gave us options and it was all my top choices anyway 😀 they dont have a cocktail menu but there is a blackboard and they do tasty espresso martinis.
The server had no idea about the menu. I ordered a pre-theatre menu and the steak was pretty much inedible. I had to speak to 3 people about how bad the steak was. The wine was served warm and the glass was chipped … Even though I ended up leaving hungry, they charged me for a drink. One of the worst experiences I’ve had around central London.
My new happy place! Right in the heart of the tourist ratrun and surrounded on all sides by humdrum chains and hipster cafés sits this sublime little piece of France... food is simple, authentic and delicious, winelist is just right and the service absolutely spot on! Add to that the very modest price point - Cest parfait!
A bit disappointed with the food. Being a french food lover and having visited a lot of french places I expected more reading the reviews. The food was average - pate and goat cheese salad didn’t impress at all and the products didn’t taste fresh.
If you want a personal and genuine french restaurant experience this is the place for you. The whole family loved it here. Delicious fresh food.
Me and my boyfriend came in for a date. We had a lovely experience! The food was delicious, the goat cheese salad was by far the best thing of the night. The team was very attentive, I highly recommend!
As a fellow french I’m putting 5 stars, went for my birthday the team was french and it felt like I was back there. Very nice. The food was delicious too. Just a little note on the snails (my fav dishthat was way too cooked and also I’m wondering why would the chef remove the shell?Apart from that tiny little point it was amazing
The snails here were particularly good 👌 A shame that the lobster was marinaded in the same (or what seemed to be the samegarlic sauce as the snails but overall still enjoyed the experience!
My friend and I dined here for the first time last night and had an amazing time. We thought we were in France ... only one heartbreaking moment ... the butter for the bread was not French!!! But food, wine, service and atmosphere 100%. My friend had mussels and the white wine sauce was to die for.
Such a cozy dining french bistro and scrumptious desserts. Had a nice chat with my friends.
Amazing experience! Went the duck confit n it was exacly what i wished for. Everything tasted great and people are really friendly. Would deffo recommend!
Fantastic Restaurant and the staff are excellent. Came here at 21.45 and was welcomed as if it was six in the evening. The Fois Gras was superb as was the Beef Bourgouignon. Just waiting on the desert and dont expect it to disappoint. Last one here and Im not even made felt like I am in the way. They are fantastic. Oh it has arrived and its the business. See the picture.
Small informal French restaurant. Beef Bourgogne and Cassoulet de Toulouse were excellent. Small wine list with many available by the glass. Six tables upstairs inside. Very friendly staff. Exactly what i was looking for dinner with my wife before a play.
I definitely recommend. The food was delicious and I was very impressed by the amazing service provided by the staff. I must praise Charlene for going the extra mile. I shall return for sure❤️
Lovely place, great atmosphere, friendly staff and really tasty food!
Came here for dinner yesterday and it was absolutely appalling. Let me start off by saying that two of us ordered the mussels which gave us FOOD POISONING.The staff were also completely clueless and rude. Our table was booked for half 7, we ordered and received our starters fairly quickly and then we waited OVER AN HOUR for our mains, seeing people who had come after us being served. During that hour no one at any point came over and asked if we were ok, do we want more drinks or even to clear our plates away. Finally we had to complain that we had been waiting for our food and by a miracle they came out straight away - how long had they been left there? Well the food was cold and stale so you can imagine. We were celebrating a birthday and had no time to get dessert as we had a show we needed to be at for 10pm and thought two and half hours would be enough time (but clearly not here). When we received the bill and told our waiter all of the above, we got a very disgusted look questioning us if it had really been an hour (we arrived at half 7 and we were leaving at 9.50 having just finished our mains so work out the math?)When we requested not to pay the service charge (because what are you seriously paying for when youre ignored for that long and receive cold food), we were again questioned and met with a very cold and rude response. When your customers have had that awful an experience the only response you should give is an apology at the very least. In this time we also heard two separate tables ask for the bill because theyd been waiting and they needed to leave and another asking where their food was, so unfortunately it wasnt just us.There are much, much nicer restaurants in eat at in London where youll be able to eat food that is cooked well and hygienically, and youll receive much better, warmer service.AVOID.
Ive eaten escargots in many places and these are by far the best I have ever tasted! Lovely little proper French restaurant.
Had lunch with some friends. The table outside its on a sidewalk very crowded, so its almost impossible to eat without someone "rubbing" your chair. The food was good, but the daily menu has small portions, smaller than "a la carte" dishes. Of course, its cheaper. The waitresses are nice, they speak French, biensur. :)
We went for a pre-theatre meal. We were there for over an hour and a half and struggled to get the dessert in. It was oh so busy! Great atmosphere thou, downstairs in particular quirky and interesting, with tables, in good bistro tradicion, on the smallish side. The food was pretty good, particularly the mains, we had onglet steak frites and moules frites, both very good. The tarte au citron for dessert was delicious and the ice cream, vanilla was good but the chocolate scoop was excellent. The service attentive but so busy that at times it felt like they couldnt copeAll in all, excellent value for money but give yourselves plenty of time
My husband and I decided to have dinner here for our anniversary. It was a delightful experience. We loved the cosy and intimate vibes of the resto. We ordered 3 courses: French onion soup as a starter, duck confit as a main and creme brûlée as a dessert. We enjoyed all of them very much and serving size was just right. Price was mid-range and reasonable.I just deducted one star because we had to ask for water several times before our glasses were refilled but this is very minor and I’m sure it’s because the restaurant was busy when we went.
We came to Le Garrick for dinner last night. We were very excited, in light of the positive reviews online. The restaurant itself had a lovely ambiance, and the French waitress was very sweet. For our main, we ordered three portions of moules frites. We were initially bought one small portion of fries with our moules, to share between the three of us, rather than the three portions we were meant to receive. But they did bring an additional portion, after we had to ask for it. The fries were all we ate of our moules frites. The moules had been hugely overcooked, and were inedible. The majority of the moules shells were empty, and those that weren’t were tiny, shrivelled and rubbery. They did not appear fresh, and looked as if they had been repeatedly reheated. Given that we did not eat our food, the manager removed the cost of the moules from our bill. We still paid in excess of £80 for 2 bottles of wine and a fondue vacherin starter (NB: not fondue, but melted vacherin), which we shared between three of us. We left hungry, out of pocket, and incredibly disappointed.
The food was fantastic and the service was very friendly, as well as helpful. The decor was very romantic and the prices were reasonable. The duck was very tender and tasty. Not quite 5 stars as the seat we were crammed into (a wide high backed seatwas really not made for two people and we had to eat with our elbows tucked right in! We were also next to the door which meant it was pretty cold. A little disappointing considering we had booked ahead.
Excellent food and service! The cassoulet and chocolate fondant were outstanding and complementary Cointreau shots were provided at the end
Lovely restaurant with authentic French food and friendly staff. We had the steak for 2 with sides and it was delicious, huge and great value. The atmosphere downstairs is warm and cosy too.
Really good food and service! The atmosphere is amazing, a very authentic restaurant
Amazing dining experience! Welcome reception the moment you step into the restaurant. Friendly & professional staff, incl kitchen/chef. French cuisine at its best, especially Moules Marinière, Beef Bourguignon..oh and the wines!🍷Already looking forward to our next visit.
Really lovely little French restaurant. Very authentic feel which reflected in the food. All the flavours and textures were on point. Is clearly a popular choice, even on a Monday night so definitely book! Great service throughout. Nice atmosphere!
The food was great and the waiting staff were friendly and very helpful. It has an authentic Paris feel. I even asked if they’d explain some of the dishes in English and they didn’t mind at all, they were also very knowledgeable about what was on the menu. Calamari was fantastic!Loses a star because foie gras was an option as a starter. For others, it may be no issue.Would highly recommend. Thank you!
Amazing set lunch offers, cozy atmosphere and very friendly service!Really good quality goats cheese in a salad and super yum homemade tart au citron.
Came across this place by accident, they have been awarded by TripAdvisor for 4/5 so we decided to give it a go. We were quite impressed with the mussels, possibly the best mussels we ever had. The steak was pretty good though, although we just ordered something ordinary - I reckon if we were willing to up our budget the steak will blow our mind. Customer service was excellent, we will definitely come again!! Thanks guys
This place is a fab find , upstairs is a bit small but it is very cosy if you can get a table however not to worry if you cannot as downstairs is even more lovely with is cool bar area and lovely brick lined walls . The food is really good and the menu boasts some fine French dishes as well as many great favourites .They do excellent pre theater menus at fantastic value . Really great night out here .
We dined here before the ballet a couple of weeks back. Exquisitely lit with a chilled relaxed atmosphere with French greats playing over the speakers. Food was generous in flavour, quality & quantity with a surprisingly reasonable bill. That, along with friendly & attentive staff, made for a dining experience we both look forward to having again.
