Le Fonticine - Tuscan restaurant in Florence, Italy
The Best Florence pasta place. Will not regret…!!
One of the best restaurants in florence that serves very tasty food especially the bistecca fiorentina at reasonable prices.
I enjoyed my experience here.We ordered tomato bread soup, salad and pasta. The food was all very delicious. Waiter was also very kind and showed us how we can eat like an Italian. We shared all the food and the soup and pasta were served by splitting them into two dishes. Had a very fulfilling and satisfactory meal here :D
I read about this restaurant in a guidebook on my way to Florence from the states. The comment that "this may be the restaurant youve been dreaming of your entire life" was right on the money. I know, it seems over the top, and I remember thinking if it were true it would be staggeringly expensive and my wife wouldnt allow it. But it was right down the street from our hotel so, one evening when she was stuck in a class, I went there on the sly with a friend. When my wife heard our glowing review she insisted on going back the next night. And we did. The menu features a wide variety of Tuscan soul food. Expertly prepared, professionally served, multi-lingual staff. Nothing bad here. Go there now!
Great service with french speakkng staff ! The restaurant has a small door on the street but when you step inside WOW it is huge and nicely decorated in a typical and traditional way. I tried several top ranked restaurants on Tripadviser... just tourist trap HOWEVER this one is soooooo good. Very local food cooked the Italian way. Ingredients are very fresh and perfectly prepared. I do recommend to stop there as often as you can.
Nice place with cozy atmosphere. Super tasty food. The only thing was the waitress Marco. He asked us so many times to take our plates before we finished. This is very nice restaurant with disappointed service on behalf our of Marco. I strongly recommend, just avoid his service!
We told them we needed a quick lunch and they absolutely delivered. Service was still proper even though we were in a hurry. The ravioli with truffle sauce was amazing. The decor gave a museum-ish vibe which fits really well with Florence.
Absolutely incredible food. Incredible. Started with the spicy Tuscan salamis, then had a steak meal, cooked rare, they don’t ask BUT if you like meat finished in any kind of way, DONT change anything... the balsamic salad on top was perfect, the meat cooked perfectly on an open fire... the Chianti Classico was fantastic and finished off with a chocolate cake that literally melted in my mouth. Was phenomenal.
What a restaurant! This place was extremely good! I went for the Bistecca alla Fiorentina as this place is highly recommended for this...I highly recommend too 😊. The service here is also very good, and welcoming.
Highly recommend!! The Bistecca alla Fiorentina was superb.
Place was pretty much empty, but staff was still a bit inattentive. No inquiry about how I liked the food at all. However, the food is great! Had pappardelle with wild boar and cocoa, Chianti and Tiramisu. Really good and for a reasonable price. One star lost only for the service level.
Must have in FlorenceThe way the steak is cooked, the way its served, the whole experience was unforgettable. Trip to Florence isnt complete without having a meal here
Tried the T-bone steak here! Minimum 1 kg so we decided to share and thank his we did! It was impressive both in width and height of the steak. We didn’t mention how we wanted the steak cooked (nor did they ask), it’s more rare than how I would normally prefer but absolutely no complaints here! It was delicious. Didn’t need any additional seasoning or sauce. We demolished it! Oh yes we also had their vegetable soup and tiramisu and both were very enjoyable too. Staff was very inviting and friendly and the restaurant itself provided a great atmosphere. Great place, highly recommend!
Had a wonderful dining experience last night. Open earlier than most fine restaurants, my wife and I arrived around 6:30 without a reservation and were immediately seated in the front room. But the restaurant filled in quickly behind us. The unexpected pleasure of being in the front room was our ability to watch the kitchen and grill in action. A very well-oiled machine. Reasonably priced wines, pasta, and a fillet with green peppercorn sauce. All wonderful. Great staff. Highly recommend.
So happy we stumbled upon Le Fonticine! The restaurant is cozy and beautiful, the wait staff was polite and timely, and the food was fantastic! Would highly recommend to all. Additionally, the price was very reasonable for the amount of food and quality being delivered.
Incredible food and wine, and the staff treated our large table like family. The pasta dishes were unique and delicious, while the waiter we had did an amazing job making us feel at home. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
Absolutely excellent! Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. A superb menu with a brilliant selection of food and wine and all at very reasonable prices. We dined on a Saturday night at 7pm without a booking, but it may be best to book. All our food was excellent and people were exclaiming similar sentiments around us. Thoroughly recommend.
Very friendly waiter. Took allergies seriously. Ambiance/atmosphere was nice.Food was just average. Enjoyable, but really nothing special.
Delicious meals. Both my wife and I had pasta and they were amazing. Tiramisu was also delicious, we both indulged and had a piece each! High quality relaxed and not too expensive. The staff were all very friendly and seemed very genuine. We would both recommend coming here if you are in Florence!
I dined at Ristorante Le Fonticine at the recommendation of my nearby hotel. The service was excellence and I assume the food was as well, although I couldnt really tell in the 87 degree F / 30.6 deg. C indoor temperature (at 10:00 PM). Two of the three wall hanger air conditioners were operating but the restaurant was stiflingly hot. Probably a great place to eat in the winter.
Gosh! Where do I start?! We went there for the famous Florentine steak, clocking in at 1kilo (2.2lband we were not disappointed! It was incredibly delicious! Between that and sides, the bottle of wine, and the three amazing desserts, we really got more than our moneys worth! Highly recommend if you are visiting Florence. The staff was amazing and lovely and speak a little English. Finally, if possible, make a reservation for dinner. It will make your life easier because this place got full so quickly!
After asking my Hotel where I could find a good restaurant in Florence they immediately mentioned Le Fonticine. I was so pleased that I tried this restaurant, from the moment I walked in I knew I was in a quality restaurant. I was asked if I had a reservation which is a sure sign that this is an up market establishment. Unfortunately I didn’t have a reservation but that was no problem the restaurant was very obliging in providing me and my partner with a lovely table with in the very nice atmosphere. The kitchen can be seen from the restaurant and it was very clean and efficient. La Fonticine is a meat restaurant and obviously specialties in steak but I ordered “fish of the day” and I was glad I did. The order came quickly and was prepared at the table by the waiter with very keen attention removing all the bones. This is a quality establishment with professional caring service. Prices are reasonable and if you love meat you’re certainly going to love this place.
Amazing food, coupled with attentive and polite staff, make this a brilliant place to eat in the heart of Florence. My partner and I splashed out on a fillet steak (25€and a sirloin two colour steak (22€and they were perfection! Her fillet was beautiful, so tender with excellent flavour and the best steak either of us have ever eaten (size in the photo is not reflective of the size of the steak, it was bigger!). My sirloin came with a delicious truffle sauce which complimented the flavour excellently.I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, and we shall be returning before we leave Florence!
This restaurant was marvelous. The owner was there and told us how each of the meals was prepared. He was Mr. Personality and very proud of the food served in his restaurant. The food was beyond fantastic -- the best Ive ever eaten. I had tortoloni with truffle creme sauce which I would recommend to everyone. My friend had fresh tomato spaghetti and it was divine. What a special night.
A restaurant full of tourists but the food was great and the service is very good. The regional soups are awesome! As usual in fancy restaurant and cities, the prices are far from the "cheap Italian cuisine" it is supposed to be...
This is one of the best Italian restaurants Ive ever visited. Its so good and cozy. Dont let the entrance fool you - it looks a bit small and nothing special at first but its quite big in the back. The antipasti is great, you should definitely try the prosciutto with melon. The top pick however is the famous Florentine beef steak. I swear the meat is amazing!!! Worth every cent and its not too expensive either!Definitely visit this place, you wont regret it.
The best experience in Florence. We visit right after the open time and tried T bone and a salad. Everything is perfect as well as the service. Absolutely perfect!
First restaurant tried in Florence after travelling around Italy. The waiter and service was great. We all enjoyed our meals. 4 stars because not one dish was over the top amazing. As we knew when ordering the meat is very rare as planned by kitchen.
The Restaurant was recommened by the Hotel we stayed in. Traditional and authentic italian food. I would say the best fiorentina steak which we had so far!(and we had a few)Would Go there anytime!
I want to visit Rome again,Then I want to come to this restaurant.Very good food. Awesome
Steak is great. Price is reasonable. Service is good. Waiter teaches us how to treat the steak by helping us putting olive oil and pepper. Tiramisu is average.
Food was not that great considering how much it cost. The half chicken I got was dry, however when I complained about it the restaurant apologized and took it off the bill, thats why Im still rating the restaurant 4 stars.
This was the best meal we had in Italy. The Florentine steak was cooked beautifully and was delicious. The kids said the pasta was the best they had eaten during our time in Venice, Florence and Rome. And we ate a lot of pasta. Super Mario, our waiter was excellent. Described all the dishes and what made them different and was very friendly. We ate there for dinner around 6:30PM and we did not feel hot even with the temperature in the mid 90s outside,
The interior was beautiful and clean. The waiters were loud and not friendly. The food was not good at all. Went their to try the homemade pasta, and it was the least tasty pasta I’ve ever had. The bread offered to us was old. One our way out, they threw the eaten bread and kept the un-used bread to be served again. The expectation was very high, but my wife and I didn’t like the experience.
Ohhhh divine food and truly authentic flavours. This is a place where the essence of the Italian food comes to light.
The best tortellini ricotta e spinaci I have ever tasted ❤In love with this place, highly recommended !
A professional warm welcome.Very pleasant, smartly dressed and professional welcoming waiters and waitress. The best lamb Ive ever had. In my life.NOT cheep but good food, beautiful decor, beautiful staff and skilled chef is complementary.Coffee was simply perfectDeserts are flawless for the price.Thankyou and hope to eat here again
We had the bistecca and it was fantastic. The service is efficient, but not exactly friendly. Still, we had a good meal.
Absolutely amazing. Best steak Ive ever had. We were a couple and ordered the 1kg T-bone bistecca. It comes full and is carved in front of you. Great wines and desserts also. An absolute must if youre a steak fan and youre in Florence.
Great night out. Our waiter - Roberto - made a special night even better. Split a Florentine steak - out of this world - and risotto and salad. Try to get a reservation. We did not have one and had to sit in the front- which for is was no problem - got to see them grilling the steaks. Hard to pick a place in Florence which has so many restaurants. You will not be disappointed here. Oh - the tiramisu is excellent!
Went back 3 times in 5 days! Lovely restaurant, friendly staff, and delicious food. Cannot get enough of their Florentine Steak, Salmon & Spinach Ravioli and poached pear dessert! Will definitely be back when we visit Florence again x
Fantastic steak, fresh made pasta (4 pieces €10and very very creamy home made desserts! The service was fantastic and no issues without a booking :)
Not sure what the hype is about but maybe what I ordered wasnt right. The famous T bone was too big for a 700g minimum so the lead(grandpawaiter suggested the grill steak. He said its the same cut just without the bone so is pretty much the same. Well, its DEFINITELY OVERCOOKED, taste like chewing a block of wood. The worst that is when I told him politely about maybe its been overlooked, hes like yeah deal with it. From the beginning this grandpa waitrose is like just eat and pay and go. Bad food? I dont care. The other waiters are very nice though. Consider the high price, DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT.
Nice and funny waiters, fantastic environment , recommend!!
We had a nice meal at La Fonticine. It was fresh. It was nice but nothing special. We liked the food and the atmosphere. It just wasnt worth going back to again despite being within a few blocks of our hotel. There was nothing wrong with the experience but the food just did not have a lot of flavor. Nothing about the experience stood out in a bad way or in a good way.
If you only have a few days in Firenze, this is the spot for a real Italian meal. The staff were incredible and funny, the food was out of this world, and it was all priced very reasonably. We went for my mums birthday and went back the following evening as well. We will definitely be back!
The food here is exceptional, and so is the service. Mario and Luciano took great care of us, and their menu suggestions were perfect. The veal chop and white beans with tomatoes and sage were so delicious, we went back again for the bistecca Alla fiorentina, which was also incredible, as was the tiramisu. We loved it so much, were going back again tonight to try something else! You wont be disappointed. The food is incredible, and the prices are very reasonable, considering the quality and portion sizes.
Excellent steak and pasta.staff was really nice and kind. You should try its homemade tiramisu - so tasty!
Wonderful place with great service. Excellent beef steak, bone marrow and vegetable soup. Good wine as well. Not cheap but worth the penny. Will visit again next time in Florence.
Hostess super nice, our waitress was wonderful, head waiter (the guy who cuts the steaknot too rude, actually he was nice just preoccupied with a big tour group that just came in.The cold antipasti sampler with the cured sardine was great. The bruschetta sampler good especially the creamy salted cod ones. Pasta well made. And, the steak, very flavorful and yes, very rare. Personally prefer juicer cut.Great dining room, very spacious. Need to pay good prices but not outrageous. All in all, a great place for a nice sit down meal.
