Refined French fare, such as lobster, rabbit, duck & foie gras, served in an airy, elegant setting.
Great service & atmosphere. I liked the veal dish the most with the mushroom sauce & sweetbreads. Second favorite was the foie gras which had a mousse-like texture. Good cocktails as well.
Friendly service and helpful staff. Delicious food and drinks. Beautiful place.
Wish I was coming here with better review. I don’t like to be negative but I had one of the worst dining experiences of my life here. The food was incredible and the team was great with the exception of one—“Josh”. Completely condescending, terrible company. My friends and I felt that to be in his presence was to be resented to the core. I would love to go back but I would need to be promised to never see him again
One of my favourite places in NYC. Relaxed, yet very special. Great atmosphere. The only miss is the quality of the wine glasses.
Complete dining experience. Loved that this restaurant provided a som. Thank you! Flavors were traditional yet innovative. Best Dover sole I have ever had. Treat yourself here!
Food: 3/5Service: 3/5Had high hopes for the duck and rabbit before coming here due to all the good reviews. But after visit, Id probably not come again given the service and the food which are both below expectations.Ordered the squid, rabbit, and the duck entrees. Its good portion for 2 people. We didnt go for the "A Very Coucou Dinner" option as our waiter told us the entree option is a mystery.I like how they prepare the proteins in various ways and you get to taste different combinations of flavors with each entree. However, most of the dishes tend to get too salty and the sauce is too thick. The dessert is too dense and very sweet. In addition, the service can improve as the waiter was not very attentive and did not give very thorough introduction of the dishes compared to other Michelin star restaurants.
I love the dessert here! The cream on the top is not that sweet, which I really like, lobster is good. Others are average quality in fine dining. However, I don’t think the taste will attract me to go here again. Nothing special here.
One of my favorite dining experiences of the year. Absolutely amazing dinner - super romantic space but also very cool and young feeling. The food is heavy for sure but delicious. Perfect for a special occasion. Their bar is also stunning.
I had the prix fixe lunch on a Saturday and I loved every single moment. The spacious, welcoming, and cozy room, the great, friendly, and attentive service, and the excellent food all come together perfectly. The menu goes in different directions, staying true to French cuisine and at the same time combining it in new ways, and doing it with an excellent hand. My favorites were the spongy bread (seriously, its that good), the chicken and sweetbreads in pastry, the mussels served like snails, and all the sweets.
Beautiful place, food wasn’t very impressive though. The lobster was overcooked. But I heard breakfast is pretty nice. I’d like to come back for breakfast or brunch sometime.
We did the “Coucou dinner” which is essentially their version of a tasting menu. The pike dumpling with lobster sauce was exceptional and the duck with grilled foie gras is also a must. The oysters and leeks can probably be skipped- very tasty but not necessarily unique. The food was all excellent but perhaps not with the price point; there are plenty of generous and less expensive tasting menus in NYC.I deducted a star because of the service. Our server was extremely pretentious, asking me if I was “confused” when one of the dishes came out. If I’m spending $500 on dinner then I expect to be treated with the same respect as the rest of their customers. We also were here for a birthday dinner, which I had informed the restaurant of when we made our reservation, and didn’t even get a candle in a cookie.
All star French restaurant. The fact that we chose it after our city hall wedding is telling. Great food, feel and service. French, high end, merci!
Had a wonderful birthday for my girlfriend here. Its hard to know what is more beautiful...the decor, the food or watching the kitchen orchestrate in full symphony. Loved our experience. Le Coucou is definitely deserving of even more Michelin stars. Hangs with all the older names in the city, but feels far more romantic and fresh.
Careless service and unhygienic dining environment. The candle burnt my hair due to the server’s mistake. Also there was dripped wax all over the table. I even found some on my glass. See photos attached.
Fantastic anniversary dinner here. Had the sweetbreads, Quenelle, Lobster au poivre, and rabbit. For dessert had the baba au rhum and marjolaine. The lobster was definitely the star of the show but everything else was still incredible. Service was great and not stuffy. Would definitely recommend eating here!
special food and very great service. beautiful dining room design.
Stellar ✨️Everything from the service to the ambiance and dishes were impeccable. A 10/10 for me and absolute must visit when looking for gastronomy in NYC.I am used to fine dining in France and Switzerland and I am happy to say that Le Coucou pays great homage to french cuisine with high quality ingredients, perfect seasoning and cooking, with great presentation and at the table plating.I would especially recommend the "filet basquaise", though everything we had was lovely and authentic.I was there with a friend for my 25th birthday and could not have asked for a better place to celebrate it. Many thanks to the staff and waiters who contributed to making it such a wonderful evening. Will definitely return the next time I am in New York ✨️
We got the whole lobster and cocktail sauce as a cold appetizer, halibut and veal for the main course, chocolate hazelnut cake for dessert. And apologize beforehand that I dont have the picture for the hot appetizer, sweet bread. This was totally unintentional because as soon as the sweetbread came out on a sizzling platter surrounded by the sauce it was in, I forgot to grab the camera to take pictures. The sweet bread stood out as the most memorable dish because the wine was recommended by their sommelier match sooo perfectly well, its easy to lose track of my surroundings.Ill only be reviewing the sweet bread. A thin layer of crispy seared-to-dark golden brown caramelized the surface of the thymus. The sauce that the sweetbread rested upon, I really dont know how to describe it besides relating it to a variation of mirepoix as the stock base a bit earthy savory sweet aftertaste thats blended over nicely with another cream based sauce. Thats as close as I can describe it (I cannot begin to guess how they made the sauce). It was paired with a white wine. I dont remember the name of the bottle, but I remember the background from where the grapes came from, it was from a remote region in France at a mountain side where sunlight was scarce. Anyways, the wine by itself tasted a bit dry, slightly tangy and bitter. As for the sweetbread its had all the flavors caramelize on the surface, the texture was soft, mildly gamey bittersweet of the thymus that easily melts in the mouth. Something amazing happened when pairing with them. Now, imagine sipping on the wine afterwards and the taste elevates each other and achieves a balance thats ever so savory, heightens the sweetness and the savory aftertaste that left us wanting for more.Bottom line, the waiter was great and personable, the sommelier is awesome in wine selection/recommendation, the food is fantastic, decorations are romantic with candles. And definitely get the wine pairing specifically for the sweet bread.
Exquiste!!! I can honestly say one of the best French cuisines I had the honor of trying. The hospitality, food, wines, and ambiance was impeccable with a sophisticated approach in technique and artistry of plating and creating the extraordinary flavors.
Food was interesting with different proteins. Certainly the kitchen was skilled at its craft even if I felt the tastes were hit or miss on my pallet (subjective and common on the dozens of Michelin starred restaurants I have been to.The rum cake dessert was very nice. The wait staff was less attentive and more condescending than the average Applebees. One in five folks serving us had a positive attitude.I am on planes, on average, every other day and so I eat out most meals. This was easily top 35% food, top 25% for ambiance, but bottom 10% service.
Le Coucou was an amazing restaurant with one of the best ambiance I’ve seen along with fantastic menu. The restaurant inside is quite dim, with beautiful chandeliers and warm ambiance which gives a very romantic vibe. It’s a white tablecloth restaurant with very professional waiters/servers which was amazing.Food was amazing - the ingredients were both fresh and refreshing. We ordered a sweetbread dish was shockingly delicious and made me want to lick off the plate!! Not to mention the Canard Montmorency duck dish was phenomenal and was good portion for 2 to share. They brought out a cute dessert to celebrate birthday which was a really nice touch. Overall, a lovely restaurant for amazing experience!!
Been her a handful of times and just feels over rated every time we go. I had the halibut and the textures with the sauce just didn’t work for me. The sauce overwhelmed the fish and made it slightly mushy. The sweetbreads were good. But we couldn’t handle how condescending our server was. I get it you guys have a reputation but my food better make up for any lack of service.
One of the best meals Ive ever had! Every item was delicious. Restaurant went above and beyond to make it a memorable meal. The beef fillet main course came with a meat pie, which was a pleasant surprise. The Lobster and Veal sweetbreads had the most amazing sauces! Overall the experience was very luxurious and super indulgent. Fantastic service! Couldnt recommend it more!
We had a nice experience. Oysters and sweetbread were phenomenal. Nice place for a fancy date.
Visited le coucou for our 10th anniversary, was not disappointed. Perfect place for the date or special occasion! Try out the lunch course, you will be pleased with amazing dishes. We also received anniversary desert ☺️
Best for French food ! Me and my sister went there with one of her friend I’m vegetarian so I order grilled veggies dish but I’m not happy at all because it’s $42 for fresh carrots🥕,turnips and asparagus with some herbs we paid more than $300 Their see food and rabbit dish according to my sister and her friend is really good . But veggie and sweet options are so bad .
Nice place for a special date, good service, beautiful interior. But the food is not that special 🤷🏻♀️portions are pretty small for the price
Amazing service and food. We went here for our anniversary and had a great time. They have à la carte or table dhôte. We ordered the beef tartare. It had a quail egg yolk and caviar on top. It was superb! Besides the food, the wine menu is extensive and the wait staff have good pairing suggestions. The restaurant is also decorated in rich natural materials with wood and metal. It is simple inside the restaurant but still very elegant. We ended up spending about $400 for the two of us with dessert and coffee.
Great moody scene. Excellent ingredients and flavor. Could tell that they sous vided the lobster tail and claw at two different temp, excellent texture. Highlight was the sweetbread. One disappointment was that the peas in my veal tongue was probably from a frozen bag. Not juicy or popping. For a restaurant this scale, I would expect to have in-season ingredients to be extremely fresh.
This place justifies its 5 star rating and Michelin star. It’s everything you look for: vibe, food, service. Our server LaJarius was attentive and caring.Great for a date night!
Amazing food as to be expected with the reputation of the resturant. However, what made our experience amazing was the staff. My fiancé told them ahead of time that he was proposing before we got to the restaurant and they greeted us with Champagne to celebrate. We also had the chance to meet the chef which really added to the overall experience.
Every plate is stunning and delicious. Great service. The duck is a must order. However, some of the plates are not very impressive.
Favorite dish was the rabbit which comes with the rabbit saddle, rabbit stew, and a rabbit gratin. The beef tartare was also amazing
Wow. This place is unbelievable. The flavors that will hit your tongue will blow your mind. Best duck I have ever had. Cant wait to go back!
The customer service is exceptional they knew what was vegan, vegetarian food restrictions etc. The portions were small but surprised us to be very filling by the time we made it to dessert I could barely eat any of it. My stomach felt so good after eating the vegetables cooked in apple sauce, the broth was like no other, distinct and healing. Although we came in 30 minutes before close they still welcomed us. I love the long candles on the tables but I don’t know how I didn’t burn my hair. The restrooms smelt really bad and the tunnel to it too like a sewage issue. The ambience was set, the plants were beautiful and the hand soap was an experience. Overall I would go back.
This restaurant has by far the most romantic atmosphere of any restaurant I dined at (including 3 star Michelin restaurants). If you are going for an expensive date, this is the place! However: The food was very underwhelming, quite uncreative, bland in taste (almost no seasoning or spice to itand way too overpriced, especially considering the portion sizes. There are much better French Michelin-starred restaurants in the city that are not priced that much higher (Jean-Georges, Daniel etc.).Worst was the service. The man that served us was rude, pretentious and made us feel very unwelcome. When my partner asked for non-alcoholic options, he told us that places like these dont do "those things". If we pronounced a dish slightly off, he corrected us in a very rude way. We are experienced fine dining eaters, but never experienced such an unacceptable behavior.3 stars because of the lovely atmosphere and dining room. 2 stars for the food. 1 star for the service.
I love this place. Been there for lunch and dinner both are incredible. Dinner has very romantic atmosphere, very nice for a date! Highly recommend ❤️
Don’t ever think about going to this restaurant… Bad service, and they want you to be in a certain level of style so they can be nice to you, otherwise, expect a bad service. Even the food is NOT good at all. I swear even Chipotle can treat their customers with a nicer attitude. Not coming again🤮extremely stuffy and pretentious staff, unhelpful at all giving us disgusting looks as if we’re not literally paying their salaries. Honestly a bunch of pretentious bricks don’t bother going. Keep elitism alive. 🙌🏼
Exquisite. Must get: dumpling and sole.Others can skip honestly. The pepper sauce for lobster was not my favorite. Leek and terrine decent. Would come back. Expect to burn some wallet.
We loved our experience at Le Coucou. Food was delicious as expected, the tartar was tasty and fresh. The orange duck was impeccable.Service was perfect.
I am the girlfriend that paid for dinner. Great experience. LaJarius was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu and gave such great recommendations! Would love to go back and try the Le Coucou Experience
Beautiful bar and very elegant decor for the dining space. Great service and food quality. Atmosphere is so good!
Such an eloquent and divine experience. I absolutely loved the ambience of the restaurant. Everything we ordered tasted amazing and the service was impeccable. I would love to come back here again and sit near the kitchen to be able to witness all the action going on!
I had the 4 course tasting menu, with desserts. It was a lot of amazing food. I haven’t had such a good meal in years. The staff were also fantastic- friendly and attentive. I will be back!

One of my favorite special occasion restaurants - so happy its reopened. Make a reservation and save up. Service is wonderful. I come for the experience. Menu is OK - there are a bunch of dishes we love, but can be tricky to know what to order. We love the vegetarian based ones - always get the leeks!! The veal mushroom sweetbreads are perfect. The quenelle was so salty. Same for the lobster poivre sauce, truthfully I didnt taste any peppercorns... nothing but salt! Its fun to come here for a special occasion, dress up, and enjoy the atmosphere. My advice would be to go for the veg dishes.
Wow. What a disappointment. We went to Le CouCou for Valentine’s Day. We did the tasting menu. The experience started with cold bread and flat sparkling water. What followed was the most mediocre set of dishes I’ve ever experienced. Bland foie gras. Fish over saturated in sauce.Dessert saved a little grace. The wine pairing was great. Decent service. But then it was quickly offset by a $905 bill at the end of the night. My girlfriend figured I must have overtipped so contacted the restaurant. They said their receipts “contain little detail”…so fix it?Would have been a great restaurant for 10% of the price. I’m a regular at restaurants like this and all I can say is save your money.
A very enjoyable dining experience. We had Halibut and sea bass for main course and they were superb. Food presentation was good. General Manager Andrea came by twice to ask how we were doing. However, wine pours can be little more generous.
great experience here. delicious and innovative dishes with surprisingly good portion. wine list definitely price-y as food but this is a must visit destination!
This restaurant has clearly earned its Michelin star. The service was impeccable, and every dish was thoughtful, inventive, and delicious. My wife and I have eaten our way across the city, and we rarely visit a restaurant twice. Well be back here.
