Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun by Karisma, Cancún, Q.R., Mexico, Nacozari Viejo
Le Chique Restaurant - Restaurant in Nacozari Viejo, Mexico
Went here on the 5th August for a birthday treat. Yes I had an amazing experience with my family but the food was style over substance. We paid $90 EACH for a wine experience and each got 5 small measures. This was the biggest let down of the meal. $180 for less than half a bottle of wine..... food looked beautiful but nothing to write home about. The experience was great but thats all it was. Got to sit in the kitchen but it came across soleless. I wouldnt recommend this unless your loaded and can afford $500 for a mediocre meal. Sorry but thats how I felt.
Very theatrical and flavours I would never normally try. Service was excellent and would recommend trying if only for the experience
Amazing food. Amazing experience.
We loved our family dinner. Our Prestige Travelers Concierge, Ricardo was able to make this possible. 🙌🏻 I highly recommend booking ahead. I’ve posted a few pictures. Choose the wine pairing as it adds so much more. From the amazing flavors to education and the shear entertainment, it’s a special family moment. Our waiter was attentive, informative and very professional. Even if we don’t stay at Azul, we’ll be booking to come back to dine at this lovely restaurant. Thank you.
Absolutely loved every single bite. And the service was outstanding. Go here!
I legitimately think this might be the best restaurant Ive ever been to. No notes.
Excelent experience. Be ready for challenging flavors and new combinations
Amazing multi-sensory culinary experience! Every dish was perfect both in terms of presentation and taste. The wine tasting is definitely worth it as it fits well with the dishes and adds something extra to the experience. Our waiter and sommelier did an amazing job taking us through our menu. Special thanks to our fantastic waiter who accompanied us from and to the lobby to get our taxi and who made our whole dining experience very enjoyable! At the end we even got a tour of the kitchen to meet the people behind those incredible Michelin-quality dishes. This is probably my favorite restaurant in the world!
It was fabulous, entertaining and delicious. My husband said it was worth the trip to Mexico. If you do not enjoy artistic, unique food do not go, but if you like an adventure dont miss it.
If the idea of fine dining is a steakhouse with contemporary American food, or if one identifies as "a meat and potatoes person," this place may not be up your alley. The food here is very avant-garde, inventive, and has a focus on molecular gastronomy. Each course is visually stunning, delicious, and still stays true to local and seasonal ingredients. The food is still very "Mexican" and represents food from different regions of Mexico. Their wine list does have some regional wines from Mexico, from their wine country in Baja. Familiarity with regional cuisine will help one appreciate the chefs reinterpretations of other Mexican dishes. I also enjoyed the level of difficulty and technique is needed to execute each course.I took a kitchen tour after my meal. It was part kitchen part laboratory; they had almost every gadget that Breville Poly Science makes. I had an opportunity to meet the head chef, Alejandro Villagrana Perez, who was amazing. He told us that they also train and teach future chefs studying at the local culinary school, which many were in the kitchen that service. Excited to see what the next generation of chefs does in Quintana Roo.It is one of the most amazing meals Ive ever had. I cant believe they are only 30 on the Latin America "Best 50" list. If you are ever in the Cancun area, I would highly recommend making a reservation.
Maybe my pallet is not built for this type of fine dining but this restaurant is not great at all. The ambiance is nice and the wine choices are ok but I couldnt eat a thing. Just about everything they served was not edible to me. Its definitely an experience and I gave it a shot but its a no for me.
Truthfully the worst tasting food we have ever had in our lives… The visual aspect is phenomenal and you won’t see anything else like this. But the food tastes absolutely awful. I am all for trying new foods and experiencing other cultures, but this was beyond bad. We looked around and people at other tables were gagging trying the food as well. We paid $110 USD/person for the 20 course tasting, and you could not pay us to go back. 10/10 do NOT recommend. Spend your money elsewhere.
The food is outstanding by itself; the experience provided by staff and management truly take this to a new level. Cannot recommend this enough. 21 course meal with a journey wine pairing was perfect.
A food experience, inventive, tasty and filled with surprises. We had a great time. You will kick yourself if you like this kind of dining and didnt try it.
Amazing Food and Service
Ill start this by saying this was my first tasting menu so Im writing this review as a tasting menu novice. That being said, my husband and I had a great time. Over 2.5+hours we tasted over 20 courses with wine pairing which left us full, happy and even a little drunk. Interesting presentation, unique flavors and beautiful plating was everything we hoped for when we were looking for a contemporary Mexican dining experience while on vacation on the Riviera Maya. The Mexican born, French and Spanish trained chef takes you on a tour of Mexico with his carefully designed menu full of locally sourced delicacies. The service was excellent and the dishes presented at an appropriately paced tempo for the amount of dishes on our menu. And the price cant be beat. My husband has been to tasting menus in NY and agrees that for the experience, taste and service you receive at le Chique the price is incredible. (150 usd pp for tasting menu plus 120 usd pp for highest level wine pairing offered)We ate here on New Years Day 2020 on our first day of vacation and I have to say - what a way to welcome this new decade.
I would recommend this place for the experience overall, the place is very nice, great decor, fantastic service also. The team are very knowledgeable and keen to help and keep the evening going well. The only downside and it is quite a big deal as the number one thing inside a restaurant, at least to me should be the taste of the food. All the food looked very appeasing but not all the food had the taste to match unfortunately. Maybe my taste buds arent as advanced as others so maybe you shouldnt consider my review as a good guide for you.I would also recommend just taking the set menu that is included with your holiday at no extra charge. We had the 24 taste, 100$ a head menu with additional wine pairing cost. This was a bit too expensive so stick with the one that is included as is a bit pricey, especially if you dont end up enjoying the food that much.
Its located inside the Azul Beach Resort, which is all inclusive but just so you know this restaurant costs extra. Very cool, fancy food. My girlfriend loved it
The ambiance is wonderful, the waiter was fantastic, and the food was absolutely stunning to look at.Its a 3 hour experience thats for sure. Unfortunately my husband and I have been using it as a very amusing story for dinner guests. The food was disgusting.Maybe our palates are just that unsophisticated but out of 22 courses, only 5 were good and at least 5 were so bad we felt we had to choke it down.A few amusing highlights: The third course was covered in what tasted like fried grass and was so chewy it took us several minutes to be able to swallow! The cows tongue was drenched in a sauce thats made from over 20 spices that were first turned to ash. The whole thing just tasted like death.Dry soup. Covered in thin sheets of whey protein.Truly some of the most unpleasant bites Ive ever had.The desserts were pretty good though!
Deserves the very high reviews. Excellent food and lovely service.
Great food just very unusual
superb 15 course gourmet mexican vision chef creations!!! top restaurant in the country!! come see it and ull see why! lots kf courses but surgically measured portions! well done le chique!
No kids allowed and wasnt told that until we arrived
What an experience we have had top notch food well explained and very good clear staff great attention to detail
Just amazing! A wonderful experience, highly recommended!!
If you go to riviera maya in Mexico this place is a must
Unbelievable! It was a once in a lifetime experience, and Im so happy we went! The 22 course of tasting menu with wine pairings was one of the most delicious, creative, fun, and visually stunning meals Ive ever enjoyed. The service was phenomenal, to boot. My group will be talking about that experience for years to come.
Amazing. A unique experience, as long as you have an adventurous palate, you will have a great time here.
What an amazing dining experience. Beautiful surprising flavours couldnt wait for the next course. Wine matching superb too.
Well what can I say - had the taster as part of the TUI package worth waiting an hour to book - opted for wine match and for around 40 pounds was well worth it as each wine (6 in allreally suited the different dishes and just complimented the fabulous food - wife had hose wine which was included and good quality- however have to say the food was superb each dish (15 in allkept getting better and better - the chefs here are so talented and without doubt Michelin star standard - what an experience wow
One of the best meals I have ever had and part of the reason the Karisma membership is so worth it.
They best
It was amazing absolutely delicious food, very original presentation, excellent explanations, very good enviroment you can enjoy food without crowdeds. It is well worth the visit
So amazing for foodies only.
Absolutely amazing unique dining experience. Highly recommended
This restaurant served the very best meal I have ever had in my life! Everything was fantastic - food, service and dining experience. At the end of the meal our server arranged for us to meet the wizard who made this possible, in his food preparation "kitchen". This was amazing - spotlessly clean, calm and quiet even with the large number of people necessary to prepare this amazing food. I chose the Azul Riviera Cancun resort so we could have this experience. I intend to make future vacations here specifically to return to this restaurant. It is so special Im ready for additional five hour flights to do it again and again. IT IS REALLY THAT GOOD!
Truly spectacular presentation for Valentines day. Pricey but worth it for the experience!
Worth every penny. One of the best meals I have ever had
Very high end dining experience with unusual dishes served in a creative ways. A must for a very special occasion.
This was way beyond my expectations without a doubt the best dinner I’ve ever had, perfection on each detail, definitely a must try experience
Wow 22 course dinner! Each dish was a culinary delight! I did not take pictures was to busy enjoying the experience! Would come to resort just to dine again and again!
The staff are very snoby and have a ridiculous table and seating system.Simply the food isn’t good enough to back it up. From a 14 course tasting menu, I would say that only 2 or 3 were excellent.
One of the most amazing Mexican experience I had.Spectacular service and the menu was out of this world, complement with the wine pairing, simply AMAZING.
Great Cuisine...Small Portions...Must Try Everything...Its Worth the EXPERIENCE..Next Ill do 22 courses.
Simply amazing . Best place Ive ever been. The service was outstanding and the wine was excellent. The food was just incredible.
Unreal. One of the best dining experiences in my life. It will blow you away
Avant-garde cuisine, twenty courses, dry ice, fancy wines to match each course. Takes three hours to get through the menu. Attentive service. Somewhat lacking in atmosphere, unfortunately so just 4 stars
Nothing like the Fat Duck! A poor imitation.. ( yes I have dined there). No molecular gastronomy as we had anticipated. My wife sunmed it up thus.. All fur coat no knickers :-)For example.. Pork belly cooked for 15 hours.. oddly still tough.. then the waiter drenched it in some sauce anyway obliterating the flavour. The use of herbs and seasoning was perplexing.. E.g. The delicate flavours on a seafood dish was overpowered by generous amounts of coriander. The didnt even give us a menu and the waiter rattled through the description of the courses so quickly I didnt really understand what the chef had been attempting to achieve. It seemed the staff fawned over diners who took the full menu and lost interest in the others.Finally.. The air conditioning was set so low we were shivering.. not what we anticipated in Mexico.Wear a sweater is my advice.Le Chique = not that classy in all honesty sadly... we hoped it would be better.
A completely fabulous restaurant, very similar to Heston Blumenthal. We had such an amazing experience, well worth a visit
What a fantastic experience! Interesting and delicious food pairings, molecular mexican food, truly unique! Nothing like this in the world! Chef Jonatan is amazing!
