Le Caveau de la Huchette - Jazz club in Noyon, France
Charming bar with live music; the only issue is that the drinks are costly, so be ready to spend a bit. But in general, we had a fantastic night! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🎼🎶🍺
Visited in October, it was 16 euros to get in.It gets very crowded.I got in early when it opened, so I was able to grab a seat at the back. However, as people get crowded, they block the whole view..The music was good but not to my taste.
The place was absolutely packed and not super enjoyable. They seriously need to put a cap/limit on the number of people allowed downstairs. A SERIOUS fire hazard plus it was super hot downstairs. I absolutely love live music and the vibe of the place was absolutely so cool! Just a shame for those of us sitting on the floor because the place was super crowded and I know those trying to dance did not enjoy us sitting on the floor (from the dirty looks and frustrated stares we got). Please consider capping the number of ppl allowed downstairs and/or consider having another band upstairs. Even if you get there early, chances are you’re going to have people standing in your way. Plus there are not many views of the stage itself.
Lovely place, lovely people, lovely atmosphere. My favorite hangout in Paris
Great jazz bar! You can dance there!
Very very disappointing! Didn’t mind queuing to get in. And the space was amazing - we LOVE a great Jazz Club. BUT from our Australian experience, you go to a Jazz club to listen to the band and relax and enjoy. Numbers are limited - not like a nightclub where they fill it to bursting point. We left after 45 mins - 1 star because they gave our money back.Ok it was Friday night BUT … WHY just keep on taking money and letting people through the door until there is no room.?? We were there in time to get a seat w a view of the band. And settled in to enjoy watching and listening to the band - half the joy is from watching a live jazz/swing band.As more and more and more people arrived we were constantly stood in front of by rude tourists who just wanted to hold their phones up to get a few minutes recording the band, had our feet trodden on and had a constant steam of people trying to squeeze/ push past.To the point we couldn’t relax and enjoy what we’d paid to see.Apparently other nights of the week aren’t as busy.Such a potentially great evening ruined.
Terrific place for the "old school jazz" experience. A dark, subterranean jazz hall, but full of energy. Like something out of an old movie.Worth every penny for the cover charge. Definitely go. Grab a double scotch (I know, the prices are dear), and dont look back. Youll remember it for the rest of your life.
Really nice jazz bar, with nice artist every weeks and good atmosphere. A bit expensive when you know that the entrance is paying
If you are in the Latin quarters and if u are into jazz then this is definitely the place for you. It definitely lives up to all expectations! Just make sure that Au come by 9.10 max as the place fills up quickly and then u will either be stuck standing or sitting on the floor. Beat before coming as there is no food
Get here early. Doors open at 9, the line started around 8:15. People didn’t really respect the queue and there was no crowd control, which was disappointing. This place is awesome. What a cool experience to see a live music show in a cave. The space is SMALL. If you don’t get downstairs early, you may be standing all night or be without a view. Also there is no ventilation so it is HOT.But the crowd was lively, ranging from young adults to geriatrics all swing dancing and having the time of their lives. Drinks were reasonably priced for a bar in my opinion. There is a cover fee to enter, no drink purchase required after that.
Everything from the door guy to the bar to the band to the downstairs club was perfection. This is the kind of place thats perfectly at peak sincerity, and still having good fun.
What a place! Come if you want to dance-- got there around 11:45PM and the band played til 2AM with breaks in between the sets (so dont leave too early). You really get to lose yourself to the music and there are some fabulous dancers who are brilliant to watch. Bought tickets at the door!
Has an entry fee, but worth it. There was great rock-and-roll live music when we went there. Drinks are good.
What a place, hidden. You will love the music, the vibes and the atmosphere. Be prepared to sweat, not only from dancing but also from the lack of AC. But that’s ok because it’s fun.
The drinks are way overpriced, and the crowd is at least 60% tourist (well, so as we), so it feels unauthentic. But it was really fun, truly a great time! The music is beautiful and the dancing is fun. I think it is a must visit. You can also skip the mediocre booze.
Underground jazz club with regular live music programming. Super cool vibe for anyone into live jazz and blues
For a music lover the ambience and the aura around the place will seem to be great but too many people in the confined place, specially after the COVID situation freaked me out
This club was so magical. A must visit spot if you are in and around the Latin Quarter in Paris. The band was so good, and the energy of the place is something Ive never experienced. Located within a cave, its a total gem.
We went on a sunday night, it was so much fun. The band was amazing and so was the crowd, not too many people, but everyone was dancing! Would highly recommend (students pay less too)
Wowwww super incredible place jam sessions all nights the vibes make you travel honestly top quality music place… drinks are ok and prices also the ambient is a 10 unforgettable
Cannot stress enough that this place is an absolute bombshell at nights with the live music and dancing. 10-15 euro entry and 10 euro drinks though. Just get drunk beforehand!
Loved this jazz club. The band was amazing and I loved bathing in the stink of everyone in the basement sauna.
The best bar ever!!! I’ve been there on 20th June .The live jazz was great and the atmosphere is so delightful! !The boy sitting next to the bar where we were drinking is really cute. But I’m so timid.I Really hope I’ll go to this bar again maybe.
So much fun and very unique! Definitely get there early to get a seat. A few minutes after the music started people started coming in and very quickly it was packed. The venue is in a cave under the bar- get your drinks upstairs and then enjoy the music and dancing in the cave. Truly, one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. Watching the dancers was fun, as some of them were very talented!
The best jazz club I visited so far. Pablo Campos Swing Group were great. Amazing ambience.
A real hidden gem! We came here on a Tuesday night and saw one of the live jazz concerts and it was one of the best things Ive done in Paris so far. The music was brilliant and there was a great atmosphere, lots of dancing and a good mix of ages. Id 100% recommend this to anyone visiting Paris!
Le caveau de la hutchette was a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone who visits Paris. It is the oldest jazz club in the city and definitely gives you those beatnik vibes in the underground cavern. I cant wait to visit again! The music was amazing and the dancing was really fun to watch.
I love jazz and have visited jazz clubs in NY but nothing matches the energy of this club. It was the sweetest thing listening to jazz standards and seeing couples dance with each other. You don’t get that in NY jazz clubs. Furthermore I was able to get in with a student discount for 10€ and unlike NY clubs you don’t need to get drinks or other items on the menu as a minimum. Only thing is you’re not guaranteed seating and it can get packed but it’s worth it for the wonderful jazz, cute social atmosphere and the unbeatable price. If I come to Paris again I will 10000% return to this club.
Pure gem!Live jazz in the heart of Paris. Not too crowded with small space for dancing and super fun atmosphere.
The atmosphere was vibrant and the music was even better. The jazz band was fire! They played a few selections that required a little interaction from the crowd.
Definitely a special place. Great live music. Come early to have a seat, it gets super busy.Expensive beers (8€ small!), even though you pay 15€ for the entrance.
We just had the best night here - it was a must do whilst in Paris on our list and it did not disappoint. Like any decent club, Ronnie Scotts for example, the drinks are not cheap but the atmosphere was electric and the music kicking. Will go again.
Excellent live music, nice bar, good place to dance, but they dont tell you that the place is full when you buy the tickets at the entrance. We barely fit inside and eventually left after an hour of a 3 hours show.
Omg a most to do when in Paris!!! Music was sooo good! Very friendly staff. Great collection of wine! I can’t wait to be back ! Love the history of the building.
Went to the place with high expectations and went out with huge disappointments. The jazz band performance was terrible tonight, 12/28/2019, and was singing a really outdated, offensive, and racist song against Chinese people. Being as an Asian, even not a Chinese myself, found it really uncomfortable to be there, we expressed our concerns to the manager but got really disappointing feedback from him. Will not recommend this bar if you want to have a pleasant experience.
Another popular jazz club in the Latin Quarter has a dance floor and therefore Swing,Dancing focused and lessons available as well in the day.A younger crowdkeeping in mind the Education Area around ,excellent care by the owners.
We were a bit shocked by the cover price, and the drink prices left us more bitter. It was Friday on one of the more brazenly touristy streets in Paris, so we swallowed our hesitation and teetered down the narrow stairs. The cave pulsed and steamed, packed from wall to wall. The limited seating hemmed in even more by dancers on the postage-stamp sized floor. The history of the place cannot be denied- tobacco stained vaulted ceilings remember livelier times, when jazz lived. The band played the standards with obvious experience. But most folks come for a little Golden Age atmosphere, and for that it doesnt disappoint. Great people watching, too.
English speaking bartenderGreat live jazz bandFriendly audienceI was visiting here with a sprained ankle and the stairs definitely not easy for me. If you have limited mobility, it might be challenging for you to get there.
This place is as funky as they come. I got myself a Cognac served properly, then headed down stairs to a packed house all having a awesome time. A Paris must see.
Wonderful atmosphere! Its a fascinating experience, whenever you go. But Sunday nights are Swing nights, and the local dancers come in. All the staff seem ace, and the band is awesome!
This place has been one of the most delightful places I have visited in Paris. Full of history and full of characters, great artist in stage and people dancing évoque such happiness and joy! Truly a jewel of Paris that I will definitely go back !!
This is the greatest jazz bar in Paris. Come and watch and listen to the great musicians every night. The basement goes back hundreds of years and must be seen. The building is in bad condition and needs lots of work to get back into a normal state. The cave (basement isnt so big so you want to sit get there early. But dont worry if youre watching the band standing: youll probably start dancing with everyone else.Pay €13 to get in and €6 for a drink: most of which, I imagine, goes to the musicians.A must if visiting Paris ! !!
This place was a blast! We went on a Tuesday night, and the locals steadily poured in to dance together. They even pulled us in to dance with them!
Contributed to swing jazz. Before midnight, there are so many people dancing on the hall that it wouldn’t be easy to sit or even stand. The atmosphere is magical with good music and dance. 10 euros with a student card.
Must go jazz club. The ambiance is unlike anything youll see elsewhere due to the age of the building. The music and dancing are top notch and the drinks are fairly priced too. I suggest getting there early if you dont plan on dancing so that you can find a seat. It gets packed by 22:30.
Really nice place to dance or just have a drink and watch the band and people dancing! It’s beautiful to see, people look so happy there! It was so good that we came back there for our last night in Paris!
Good place to listen to Jazz performers in Paris. Interesting experience with music in a ‘cave’. They have different performances during the week and people even dance to the music in the later part of the evening. Entry was €13-15 depending on days of week. We went 30 minutes before opening so first online and was able to get best seats one level up from dance floor, can see band better but seats are wooden bench so can be comfortable for longer seatings. Seats below are cushioned. At the extreme opposite end of the bandstand is an alcove with better seatings. We did not see that when we walk in -would trying getting those seats next time. Cave got very hot when crowded. Drinks are €7 for wine. White wine was horrible so stick with bottled beers. People behind us were talking very loud when the band was playing which was rude. However, this is like a club not concert performance so there are going to be conversations around you during the performance. Overall the band was great and we had a good experience.
What a find. Recommended by a friend who grew up in the area, this place didnt disappoint! We had a great time here. Too bad were terrible at dancing! :-P
This place was recommended by a friend, who used to live in Paris years ago. She said it was great for live music and dancing. It sure was! The band was super, dance floor full of couples swinging and jiving away and had a good amount of seating to watch the action. Its definitely worth the low cover price, so dont skip this spot on your trip!
Best jazz club withfun swing dancing to amazing musicians. Drinks are pricey, but what a great experience! Piano bar down the street fun too.
