Luxury art deco backdrop for upscale European menu, plus Saturday brunch and Sunday night jazz.
One star is too generous to describe our experience tonight...very expensive menu, most of it quite un appealing, and wine £12 for 125ml Chianti Lambs testes on rice £17.00 are you kidding! Propped up on bar stools like a school canteen and to cap it all the smoke created in the kitchen set the fire alarm! The chef nearly broke his neck climbing on a stool to reach the fire alarm. Sat waiting with menus for 25mins before walking out. Never, never, never again. The revues on here must have been in a different era or a different planet.Angry of London.
I would highly recommend this place, service was very good, food was even much better.... we had Duck salad as a starter, chicken milanese and lamb stew as main course..they were equally delicious.
My teenage and twenty-something dream location in the heart of my favourite neighbourhood in Central London. Le Caprice never fails to enchant me and satisfy my taste buds even though I have never wavered from my order since 1982 and that order has never disappointed me. What delights me equally is that the Maitre D still recalls my name and orders for me! Now that is true serivce and that duely champions loyalty in a simple guest of simple means who knows where to invest time, energy and simple funds because Le Caprice is worth it. This resturant is magical and simply satisfies the simple pleasures of both not only fine cuisine and ambience but the voyage - past, present and future - to places and memories far and wide as Le Caprice - for me - withholds all the charm of Paris and New York in the 1920s and 1930s, recaptures time and time again all the sweet recollections of my youth, and sets the stage in London for a national treasure to be enjoyed and cherished by me any time I wish in thought or reality!
Great food. Great service.Always reliable, consistent in its quality.Had brunch with blissfully, perfectly prepared eggs benedict followed by delicious treacle tart
Raw chicken - twice. Hair in food - three times. We just moved but used to be neighbours, so we have been many times. My wife got the Caesar salad four times, two of which the chicken was completely raw inside (not even pink, but soggy grey). There also seems to be a problem with basic hygiene as I found a black hair (not matching my blonde or my wifes redin my dish three times. Unfortunately, as much as I liked my dishes (I actually am not too picky with eating food with hair in it, as long as the hair has been removed), its difficult to give it a high rating. That said, the staff was always nice and courteous on each occasion though, each time, the dish was taken out of the bill at least. I have to give an extra star for the friendly staff, making room for us regulars when they were otherwise busy, and of course the great waffle they serve periodically on Sundays, which I thoroughly enjoyed for some time, until my wife refused to entertain their raw chicken anymore.
I loved the food here. Blueberry cheesecake waffles were amazing. We also shared some really great benedicts. Its a really classy place which made me feel underdressed. Be warned that people here are mostly in suits, ties and pretty dresses.
It is good...but not to impress...to many waitress...some of them probably are there only for show 😅 because if you ask them they do not know where they are...Any way I think it is that tipe of owners who look after customers "little olds" ...who they came and eat in that restaurant for many many many yers...that tipe of client who came in to the restaurant and look after "his" table...and the waitres need to have food and drink ordered all ready for them...any way it is a 5 stars but need to improve and make some changes...
Went here with a lady friend. It was just a fantastic lunch. Very good food, excellent, professional service, and a pleasant ambiance.
Its an OK restaurant. The starters were fine, although the tuna we had wasnt of sufficient quality to be served raw in my opinion. The main was boring, but not bad. The dessert was quite good. The service is good, I think theyre actually a bit overstaffed.A bit cheeky having a set menu with a "cover charge" in small print, I think thats a bit silly. Just price it upfront and let people compare fairly. The pricing is appropriate either way.
Excellent service and food. The chateaubriand was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked medium rare as asked ..The jus was superb!! I am not a fan of " chips" but these chops were scrumptious. The best I ever had. I also like the ambiance and location of this Mayfair London Restaurant.
The food served here is exquisite. My personal recommendation is to try the squid for a starter. I would not normally choose squid, but the presentation and taste were more than I could have wished for.Naturally, compared to restaurants almost anywhere else in Britain, this is an expensive restaurant. However, near its location in one of the most expensive parts of London you would struggle to find anywhere better value.Pleasingly, portion size is decent. I do take issue with restaurants, no matter where they are, charging you outrageous amounts for a meal that doesnt actually fill you up. But here I left pleasantly stuffed.
What a great establishment, always a treat coming back. It feels like time has not passed by. Superb food and service and amazing atmosphere.
Had our last dinner in London city. Followed Google Maps rating here and was not disappointed. The service very attentive and friendly, and the food was great. We tried the Le Caprice appetizer combo and was an excellent choice. My kids commended this was one of their best meals in London.
This is a beautiful restaurant, hidden away behind the Ritz. Great food and service. Prices are also reasonable and the ambience is retro. Very good for client lunches or a celebration.
Been coming here for thirty years and it is has never failed to live up to its reputation. The cuisine is superb, but what makes this place so special are the staff which create a unique ambience which is rarely foundnelsewhere.
We ate here last night to celebrate a family birthday. Lovely service , beautiful food. Perhaps a problem of it being such a popular place is it can be a little noisy so ask for a table away from main entrance
One of the things I love about Le Caprice is the consistency. The food and service are always first class. Never been disappointed and always happy to return.
Had the scallops, duck breast and the milk and cookie dessert. Scallops were a bit lukewarm to my liking - they tasted fine but it was a little bit too wet/dont think the chilli went too well with it. Duck breast was good and the caramelised potatoes that came with it were delicious. Milk and cookie dessert came very hot and was enjoyable but Ive had better at Cora Pearl (Kitty Fishers sister restaurant). All in all, a good meal but not special. Not too expensive, though. Similar standard to other restaurants in the Caprice Holdings group (Scotts, J Sheekey)
We arrived after crawling off of an aircraft at Heathrow, looking much like refugees, I suppose. We were welcomed, jollied up and generally cosseted as if we were royals. The food, wine, and hospitality were just great. Took a cab back to the hotel...
Popped in for a drink with friends around 9.30pm on Saturday after a day out in London. Very welcoming to us (even though very busy with restaurant guests). Special thankyou to door gentleman (sorry didnt get your namewho very kindly chatted to me while I was having a cigarette and also double checked our Uber as we were leaving
One of our favourite restaurants, the live piano is such a nice touch. We were pleased to dine in the outdoor tables with our little Yorkie
Very likeable environment with excellent food and pleasant staff. I had the veal which was amazing and finished with the chocolate fondant which was very tasty. A jazz trio played soft music, lifting the mood even higher. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good dinner in a charming place!
Always a good bet especially at lunchtime. Didn’t have a booking but they were happy for us to sit at the bar and offered to move us to a table when it became vacant. A good selection of snacks, starters and main courses, do try the scallops with garlic and butter. Staff friendly with a Maitre D that has been there since the restaurant opened. They’ve recently changed all the artwork.
Without doubt one of the best dining experiences in London. le Caprice is everything you could want, classical, chic and timeless. As a patron for over 20 years I can honestly say every time is a special experience for myself and my guests. I look forward to going back soon!!
Best family dine out experience in years. Thanks to all staff involved in making our experience unforgettable.Kids loved it, we absolutely enjoyed every bit of it.
Great service... beautiful food... and the atmosphere was just amazing! Definitely recommend the Sunday Jazz night!
I will not go back after ordering a bottle of Krug and was slipped a bottle of vintage Krug. I was treating my mother to a birthday dinner with my sisters and they were aware. I generally only smell the wine and with Champagne very seldom even bother. So as he approached the table I asked him to serve and it wasnt until I tasted it I realise they have served me vintage. Back then it was over 300 a bottle and basic Krug at the restaurant about 140. I didnt want to make a scene so let it go, but I have never been back since and will never go again. I hate it when restaurants rip people off.
Excellent meal and attentive staff. Restaurant a little noisy, the acoustics could somehow be improved? Not a criticism but the noise level perhaps means this isnt the place for certain occasions. Some of the best non Michelin starred food weve ever had
One of the best restaurants in all London. Beautiful Art Deco interior, fabulous food, great service. Book Princess Diana’s favourite corner table if you can get it. This is urbane but unassuming elegance at its very finest.
Really good restaurant. The people are very nice and the food is good. I dont recommend the starters as both times we ate there the main course was much better and more filling. Recommend the gooseberry pie dessert or the ice creams. If you want to eat at prime dinner time, maybe reserve in advance because it fills up fast, but if your go to eat around 6 there should be plenty of availability.
had a lovely night out with all the crew on Sun night. Food was very nice and the wine was as usual top notch. Service was really attentive and not too fussy. only one downside really to mention was there was a big table of rabbly noshers who made outragous noise... never mind... the wine nullified them out after a while...
Went here for a Saturday lunch, as this is one of the few restaurant that have a separate vegetarian menu. We were two, and I liked the fact that we were seated next to each in a round table (of fourinstead of opposite each other. The service was impeccable, the head-waiter always making rounds to see that everythings OK. Food excellently prepared and presented. This restaurant made a superb impression on me; I wish I could afford to eat here more often.
I have been a number of times and Im always impressed with the service and food here. The menu is small but varied and often has new dishes to try. Location is excellent.
Food was very good and a great selection for vegetarians. The decor is a bit old fashion but it gives some character to the restaurant. The atmosphere was good but a very loud table of drunk business men in the middle of the restaurant spoiled our evening as it was distracting.Nice place to meet for a date and a small group of friends.Service was good although we requested crushed ice and we got big ice cubes for a cocktail, they did not fit in the glass... It gave us a laugh thou.Cocktails were very nice.Toilets were clean and tidy.I would recommend to book in advance. We took a cab because parking can be a problem.
Avoid the pies. They are made elsewhere, frozen, then thawed and heated up at the pub. The fish and chips are phenomenal, however!
Excellent food and great service, fancy dining but not too pretentious or stuffy.Brilliant bloody Marys, and nice art deco interior. I have been twice and would definitely go again
The atmosphere is comfortable and easy with piano playing. I had octopus as starter and sole as main course. Both are quite fresh and tasty. Definitely will dine here again.
Absolutely loved this restaurant had the most fantastic time... The staff were lovely, extremely friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. I will be returning very soon xxx
Well run and good staff. Very solid Sunday roast and brunch. Good mixture of foods from sushi to pancakes (but I have to say I didnt particularly like the pancakes). Well established and no surprises.
Awesome place, besides they have one of the best Fondant de Chocolat u could ever try in your life
Always excellent and unpretentious. Love Le Caprice; it never disappoints. Perfect food attentive and friendly service. Great for a quick bite or for a full formal supper.
Coming from New York I wasnt impressed by their food. The service seem good but my waiter was not giving me much attention. He poured water for the table next door and without checking how I am doing he just left. My cup was empty for half of the time.It was a British restaurant. The waiter offered me chopsticks. Odd.The environment is nice though. Overall this place is overrated and not worth visiting.
My partner and I went here for the "Caprice Classic" £35 menu on a Sat lunch. Food was nice, although my chicken was bloody. The place has a slightly odd thing for Thai food, listing "bang bang chicken" and "Thai baked sea bass". The thing that really bugged me was the service: we didnt get any water until three quarters of the way through our main, and that only happened when they eventually noticed me waving at them furiously - not what Id expect from any restaurant, let alone one of its "ilk"
Very nice place with art deco feel and relaxed atmosphere. Staff is attentive with good sense of sattle humour. Food is top notch, not pretentious, just what you expect it to be in a place like this. Real food beautifully prepared with honest and sophisticated flavours. They welcome children with good manners too and treat them like adults. Highly recommended.
Great food. Very observant and hospitable staff. Only problem I had was that I ordered a daiquiri and received a margarita which was fixed as soon as I mentioned it. However, tequila makes me feel very unwell so was not an ideal situation.
As soon as we sat down we were given a menu and a server came over and asked us what we wanted for dinner. We hadnt been offered a drink of any kind. Then in awhile another server came to take our drink order so we ended up getting our pre dinner drinks at the same time as our appetizers. It was all a bit strange. In the end though the food was delicious and the servers got into sync and were very attentive. We would definitely go back for a second time and give it another chance. Perhaps because it was Sunday Jazz night the restaurant was at its busiest.
Went for lunch at Le Caprice in the midst of moving house, to get away from it all, in the hope of cheering myself up, and am pleased to report it was a successful endeavour. I had a very pleasant time sitting at the bar, and was well looked after by the Italian bar staff. They have some surprisingly decent vegetarian options on the menu, the Strozzapreti with Perigord black truffles was a fittingly luxurious sort of a dish.
The service is very solid here. The food variety was perfect for lunch. Id say my portion was larger than Im used to but Im sure a man would enjoy it. I had the sea bass with a thai sauce and it was delicious. The clientele here are pretty famous. I spotted Lord Sugar here when I was here last.
For an overall dining experience It is,in my opinion, the best in London. It is lovely whether with friends or being entertained by the waiters at the bar. The cuisine may not be exceptionally fancy but you can rely on it being to your liking and of exceptional quality. If you get the chance I would recommend a visit.Great restaurant
excellent food in very pleasant surroundings. nice atmospheric pianist playing in the bar area sets the tone for a relaxed meal. only complaint is if eating early youll be rushed through your meal, albeit with the food still top notch quality. wonderful desserts and a very reasonable wine list help round off a great experience.
