MoreWhat a charming little family run restaurant. Great savory and sweet creapes and a good selection of other entree options. Weve been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. Reservations advised as the can be busy at times.
MoreHad great fillet mignon steak there, highly recommended

More11/10 The chef statue really gets me
Food and service is always great. The chef and his team are welcoming and make your meal special. Do not miss this restaurant.
MoreTrès Breton. Simple classic and tasty cuisine, excellent service ( in English and French all made from scratch. Best homemade (cognacmayo in BC. Deserts are fantastique how French deserts should .
MoreNice ambience and great food. Ordered Escargot with cheese and lamb shank. Absolutely fabulous!
MoreGreat food we had a great time! The owners and service were great. Well be back!
Quaint little French family café. Fabulous filet mignon. True french sauces and crepes.
MoreDelicious food, reasonable prices. Casual local atmosphere.
What a breath of fresh air this place turned out to be. Got to practice a bit of my french with the helpful and pleasant waiters. All the other guests in the place were raving about their food and conversing with the waiters. Escargot au gratin was everything Id hope it would be with a warm baguette to soak up the garlic butter. Divine.I ordered seafood crepes and again, it was everything I could ask for.The entire group I was with were genuinely pleased with the ambiance, staff, and incredible flavours of food.
MoreWe had starter Entrees and Desert. One of the best french fries and Filet Mignon Ive ever had. Very friendly and professional stuff. We will come back for sure.
MoreWonderful service, great menu and ambiance and all food was delicious.
Friendly and attentive staff, French flavours, and Edith Piaf. Parfait
I shared a dinner with family last summer, after trying to get to this restaurant for a few years! Pleasant and effiicent waitstaff, lovely atmosphere, busy but relatively peaceful. I was so disappointed with the crepes; I found the filling sloppy, with juices running over the entire plate. Good for soaking, I guess, but the crepes were already falling apart with moisture. I would give it another chance, however.
MoreDelicious and staffed by very friendly and professional people. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves and were well taken care of.
MoreReally delicious and tastes!! Prices is reasonable and the place are clean and nice. You need make a reservation.
MoreThis is a family run, father chef, 2 sons as waiters, French restaurant near the Nanaimo harbor. Excellent food and service. You order, then they make. Partner ordered lamb crepe..deliciously parisian french plate. I had fresh snapper in a butter garlic broccoli sauce, with rice and veges...stunningly tasty. Order the house made bread right out of the oven. Even crepes for dessert. This is a great little restaurant.
MoreAwesome food, great service. Will ALWAYS go back when visiting Nanaimo.
Lovely place...we had a great meal and service. Escagot with cheese, duck leg and lamb shank...all french style and delicious. Will be back!
MoreFood here is second to none! Grace music and comfortable atmosphere. Friendly staff and special menu with authentic matching style of France food and wine. Wine is regarded as a cooking ingredient at here. Be worth of going and enjoying!
MoreThe food is out of this world. They specialize in crepes of all kinds, savoury to sweet. You can be fully immersed into a French experience if you wish, as the family who runs the place are all fluent in French.I would say the prices are high, but the ingredients are fresh and of high quality, soo its worth it!Our favourite thing to do is have an order of escargot with an extra baguette as an appetizer, then get whatever the crepe of the day is. Its always amazing! (Weve never had room for dessert!Bon Appetite!
MoreAmazing real French family restaurant! Gilles is an amazing cook, my boyfriend and I fell in love with his French cuisine. Crepes are simply DELICIOUS!!!!!
MoreLovely - delicious simple French cuisine in a friendly small cafe atmosphere.
Excellent cusine. I Spent a long period of time in Paris, France. This restsurant captures the feel and the food of real parisian experience.
MoreBest French food outside of France 🇫🇷 The real deal French chef and his kids running front of house beautifully!! Prices are from 1999 and the food and wine are outstanding!! Ask chef for the crêpes à la banane et chocolat avec cognac sil vous plaît. Practice your French here for an authentic experience. Too good not to go weekly. Le pain provençale is ridiculous for $5 paired with a glass 🍸 of house red for under $18 including tip. Double the prices and Im still going weekly. Please dont tell anyone or they will get busier 😂
MoreAmazing food, friendly service -- this will be our new go-to restaurant in Nanaimo!
MoreExcellent service with well executed classic French food. Do yourself a favour and dine here.Atmosphere is relaxed and casual.
MoreThe food is very good and staff are extremely charming! The room is intimate but it feels like an escape to France. Enjoy the food, wine, and engage with the staff! Two thumbs up!
MoreAmazing food and wonderful service! Such flavours. Exquisite menu. Loved everything!
MoreFood is magnitfique and love the personal atmosphere of the father and two sons!
Really nice French-style crêpes in a cozy and laid back atmosphere. The service was really great, especially if you speak French! The food was good but I wish it would be made out of sarrasin (buckwheat), it would be perfect! Good place if youre looking for French food anyways. And they serve Leffe!
MoreFood is great! Reccomend reservations for dinner. Desserts are great too. Service is extremely friendly and the waiter is absolutely gorgeous! Love downtown Nanaimo! 😄
MoreFavourite place to eat in Nanaimo! The food is fab and the service is friendly, with personality. So great!
MoreHad a great time last night. Be sure to order the crepe of the day!
Last night was our third time here since we moved to Nanaimo last year. It was an excellent meal as usual. The staff and chef are funny, responsive, and cheerful, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. What could be better!
MoreReally excellent food at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff especially if you speak a little French :). Try any dish with duck, the chef is an expert!
MoreAtmosphere was like I was in France had escargot the best I have ever had if you get too experience this lovely place its worth the drive. Its a family owned place the family are so nice and speak French and I actually understood there accent.
MoreWent with my family a couple years ago. Had the most amazing time! From the very beginning it was perfect 👌The food was exceptional, the chef (and I believe owner?came out to speak with us personally, and everyone was just so wonderful!A million times recommend!!
MoreSo goodA taste of old world cuisine. The service was perfectThanks. See you tomorrow night
MoreI was only in Nanaimo overnight. After exploring the downtown area and spotting Le Cafe Francais during the afternoon, I took a chance and walked in without a reservation. I m very happy they were able to accommodate me. The food surpassed my expectations in every way. I enjoyed the St. Jacques Basilio - scallops, & shrimp in a garlicky tomato sauce, with a toasted baguette on the side. The side veggies of pea pods and broccoli were perfectly prepared. More than the delicious food, I loved the atmosphere here. It felt like I was in a cafe in a little town in France. Almost everyone eating there seemed like regulars. Papa is in the kitchen, with two sons out front - the synergy was impressive to watch. I would suggest that if you are in a hurry, this is probably not the place for you, but if you have time to indulge, you will love it.
MoreFood was very tasty and well done, but service is incredibly slow, so do not be in a hurry, give yourself three hours for dinner and dessert. Just one cook and one waiter and one server. Nice French dishes well prepared.
More[ Tried once, August 2016 ]- Food was awesome.- Workers were really friendly.
I had the duck crepe and it was the best thing Ive ever put in my mouth ever. I want to eat there every day but I cant. Maybe one day when Im super rich and dont need to go to a job every day. Anyway, eat there. Its the best.
MoreVery good!!!Im usually very exigent when it comes to restaurants, theres always something that could be better (or so I thinkhowever I wouldnt change a single thing in this meal. We had onion soup and then I had the salmon crepe and my husband had the crepe of the day which was a snapper crepe with cream sauce. Everything was perfectly seasoned and the portions are good. Every crepe comes with a simple greens salad with a red wine vinaigrette and with homemade fries, they serve you the fries with a homemade mayo that is very good too. The service is great, the place is run by the chef/owner and the server is his son. They both are friendly and talkative. We will definitely will be be coming back many times.
MoreDelicious! Its not often you find a gem such as this. Savored every bite. This is my first review.. I felt compelled to share, Magnifique!!
MoreEver since we moved to Nanaimo 7 years ago, this has been one of the real gourmet gems in the area.I love their Duck LOrange. Once they had Porc Normand on the menu and it was outstanding. The classy but unpretentious atmosphere starts with the family that operates the place- authentic Normans. Our last meal, the two young sons of the owner sang "happy birthday" to me in French. It choked me up. Wonderful energy here.
MoreStumbled on this gem one Friday evening. One chef; one waitress. A couple staff. Be patient. Its worth the wait.
MoreVery authentic -- owner/chef is from France. Food was great -- some unique dishes.
