Le Bœuf à la Mode - Traditional restaurant in Versailles, France
Steak is overcooked. I ordered medium rare but it’s definitely well done😅 nice service and excellent dessert
Delicious food, even better service and reasonable price. I will definitely be back again! Thank you.
Excellent lunch of French onion soup and salad-I only regret not making it back for dinner! Highly recommend
Great food, nice environment
Dishes, quality, attention, respect, prices, Versalles, this places is just perfect. We really enjoyed our table on the terrace, beautiful street, beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere! The bass was excellent, and the desserts are to die for! The sauce for the fish was tasty and the Vacherin, (meringue, cream and strawberry ice cream)was superb! Staff was very friendly and helpful, making for a pleasurable experience. All the food looks good! A great way to end the day in Versailles!
After visiting Versailles, we decided to eat at this restaurant. We hoped for the best experience and a delicious meal. We were disappointed. The Onion soup and meat were served cold, which is absolutely unacceptable. The table was served after the food arrived. I even had to ask for water 3 times. Forgot to put a steak knife with the meat. The waiters were not attentive, they forgot to serve salad with meat and potatoes. It felt like we were being bullied. We do not recommend visiting this restaurant.
Service was very slow and the food too expensive.
Worst restaurant in the world! Slow service, food was awful!!
Difficult to review: First visit was perfect (delicious food and lovely servicebut second visit some days later in the evening was disappointing due to the mediocre food
Friendly service, tasteful and traditional food
Very nice restaurant. The beef and the gravy sauce were out of this world. Very delicious experience.
We were a small group of 4 people and tried different dishes for dinner, all of them delicious: ceviche salad, stuffed peppers, effiloché de colchón ("french pulled pork" in a potatoe pure coat), chocolate dom, the floating island... We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere of the city. The staff was very friendly and helped us with our questions. Maybe a bit pricey, but hey, this is Versailles. Overall a very pleasant experience. I would come back!
Recommend the dessert with 3 samplings and a small glass of champagne
Horrible experience, really bad waitress
They overcharged us!!! We got there and we sat outside. They had a QR code for English menu. We ordered 3 foie gras a cheese board with meat and a bottle of wine.Let’s talk about the food. It was our first time eating foie gras. It was good but heavy. We don’t know if it was good foie gras or not but it was a good first time experience. The wine was good too. We had ordered cheese board with cured meat was acceptable. All we got was meat. They brought a bill excluding the wine first. The waiter realized the mistake right away and went back in and brought back a credit card reader and charged us an unknown amount. He never brought us a revised itemized receipt. We didn’t know until later that he had charged us €10 more than what he should have for the wine. I would be more careful next time about their billing policy.
Stopped at this place hungry after a long day of tour at the Palace and can’t say we appreciated the food. Although our server was kind, he appeared overwhelmed which also caused delay in his service. Our food was not seasoned, lacking flavor and was definitely not worth the price listed. We ordered the sea bass (fish of the dayand the french hamburger. The fish was fine, however the potatoes, spinach and sauce were tasteless. The french hamburger was served without any classic veggies (lettuce, tomato etc, with just bun, cheese and bacon.A place that seemed so promising was a disappointment in food so i am surprised by the reviews below, unless something changed in the kitchen (staff?). 2 starts only because our server was kind, helpful and i don’t believe the food quality is his fault.
Cute relaxing place. Good food and service
Cosy authentid placeFood quality and quantity is very good
Updated: went back again after 3 years. Still would rate 5 star. Went for lunch this time, they offer a 30€ appetizer and entre menu, went with fois Gras and tartare again, still great. Both kids menus were good and the fish of the day was great. Reasonable price, great quality, great menu and very friendly service.Had a great meal here. Ordered the escargot, fois gras and beef tartare. Tasted great, good portion size and reasonably priced. Service was a bit slow, but it was fine after a long day at Versailles.
Awesome find. Ordered the "stake of the moment" and the "floating island". Amazing end to a great day.
The food not good like it seems in the menu .I ordered the fillet beef. The garnish very bad made .The bone was good though.Very disappointed ☹️
Wonderful atmosphere, a genuine Paris restaurant, excellent food and service for reasonable prices. Great location.
Superb meal with friendly service and generous portions. Very reasonable price for such an excellent experience. Thank you, we’ll be back!Chris and RosCornwall
Perfect experince - tasty food and good service. 5/5, would recommend.
Terrible service. Our waitress practically ignored us, requiring us to flag down a different staff member. She tried to upsell us on the water (we asked for a carafe of tap water and she presented a bottled spring waterand wine. She scoffed at us when we did not go with her wine selection but instead chose our own wine. The food was okay, for the most part; however, one steak served to our group was very undercooked. The guest in our group with the undercooked steak then had food poisoning the entire next day. Id recommend skipping this restaurant for elsewhere in town.
Absolutely top notch restaurant, superb food and service
We had a great dinner here, after a long stroll through Versailles. Excellent service, friendly staff and we felt very welcome. Highly recommended.
Nice place , table cloth and good food …had the filet with foie gras … just decadent and if you have to watch calories… not for the faint heart 💜! P S if you sit outside to the left facing the restaurant there is a fan in the ground … awful kitchen smell
Nice bistro great French breakfast. Super affordable GREAT VALUE!! $$$ AAAAAA+++Near palace de Versailles
Friendly staff, food is okay. Medium rare was more medium well. Waiter forgot to ask what sides we wanted, just served fries.
Excellent restaurant. The name means fashionable beef or something like that, but, apparently, is also a play on words. Boeuf Mode is beef simmered in wine and a la mode can also mean with ice cream. Thw waiting staff was wonderful and the menu was full of options. Its quite large in terms of size. The exterior and interior are very stylish. The food is good. The desserts are especially good. The location is just besides a wonderful market.
17 EUR for an affordable and good lunch including dessert & coffee ☕️. Nice atmosphere and correct service.
I visited this restaurant for dinner in March (on a Sunday eveningof last year and I still dream of the meal I had there. Charmingly tucked away in a small pedestrian street, the ambiance inside the restaurant was cozy, warm, and inviting. I wonder about the reviews saying the service here was bad, slow, or unfriendly. The staff here could not have been kinder to me. The pace of the meal was leisurely and relaxing, as French dining should be. I had a beef stew with root vegetables which included a piece of bone marrow. As you know, restaurant portions in France arent like in the United States, but this portion was so generous I could not finish it (which is unfortunate for me, because it was absolutely delicious). I still had a café gourmand for dessert, which was also delicious. There are many great restaurants full of amazing food in France, and I promise that you will not regret visiting this one.
French atmosphere, nice interior. However we were waiting for onion soup for 25 min, and tuna steak for another 50 min but they forgot about it. Waiter even did say sorry for that. So in the end we left hungry.
The ambiance is lovely. I’m sure the food is great, but I won’t know because the waiters were so incredibly rude to us. We got through soup (fine), escargot (pretty goodand bone marrow (three pretty good spoonfulsand then got so frustrated trying to order our main course that we got the check instead.
Great food friendly service and our waiter was amazing. He even let me cut meat with the old fashioned deli style meat slicer! Warm inviting atmosphere. Do try!
Had diner with a business colleague. Staff made us feel welcomed and can speak English without any issue. For some reason, a lot of fruit flies around the restaurant while having diner. A bit annoying.Food is ok, but the quality of the ingredients could be improved. A wide choice of dishes including vegetarian ones. Prices are average, although more than ten euros for a beer sounds a bit steep! 😣
Enjoyable french traditional cousine (escargots, foie gras, tartare, ...open till quite late (11pmwith good and relatively fast service, in some old-fashioned style furnished rooms (ground plus larger first floor). Food quality is very good as well as its presentation. Teetotallers may eat well for 30 eur.
Very nice French cuisine, fast service, helpful staff, good value for money.
I give one star due to the terrible experience I had with a waiter at this establishment. The first waiter who greeted us was so warm and welcoming. But the second waiter who started taking our order seemed be rushing us through. I never had French food so I wanted to take my time. When I asked the second waiter if they had seafood he kind of laughed at me saying that they don’t have seafood here ( or French doesn’t have seafood). He made me feel like a stupid person for not knowing French food. But then he pointed out on the menu some fish and scallop dishes. Does he not know seafood means anything from the water? After taking our order he didn’t even ask if we wanted water or any drinks. I had to flag down someone else for that. Even after serving our food our waiter seemed to ignore us. If it wasn’t for my elderly parents who needed to eat and rest a bit, I would have had a word with the waiter for his disgusting mannerism that left me feeling insulted. I suggest this establishment train their waiters properly. You are an ambassador of your culture and country. Luckily I’ve been meeting other wonderful French ppl so I’m not going to stereotype everyone in France cuz of this one ignorant individual. Until things improve, please don’t visit this place.
Food is average (tried duck and beef skewers), would not say was satisfied with the dinner at the end. Although staff is very helpful, we didn’t wait for long. Atmosphere is lovely.
Nice place, it was very busy on Tuesday night. Friendly service but under staffed for so many tables. We ordered a few starters and they were all good. Dinner was a hit and miss. Fish and burger were excellent. The beef brochett was very chewey (both orders).
Absolutely lovely place !True french offering and a great menu options ranging from typical starters to grilled fish and really tender and tasty meat steaks.Really good food and decent size of portions. The desserts are worth an special mention.
Fantastic food, great service, and amazingly cozy atmosphere.
Always very good, attentive friendly staff. English menu is nice. I stay in Versailles for business 3 to 4 times a year and always eat here. I was pleased and surprised to see it open on Sunday.
Salmon tartar is absolutely delicious, must try! Service was fast and welcoming. As for the desert go for crème brulle, fruit salad is not so impressing.
We only stopped for an apero. Waiter was nice but my gin and tonic turned out to be made, without asking me, with Hendricks gin. Very good...but 12 euro, not including the bottle of tonic. Much more than i was expecting to pay. It was a bit of a shock when the bill came. I should have asked for the price of the gin beforehand, but I find it a bit slimy to automatically use a premium spirit. My companions Pastis was 5 euro, for comparison.
This was one of my favorite meals in Paris. My girlfriend and I stopped by on a Sunday around 2PM for lunch. We waited to be seated about 35 minutes. It was worth it! I had the braised beef cheek with mashed potatoes, a glass of champagne, and OJ. We sat outside on the sidewalk and people-watched. The servers were attentive and quick to get us a table.Cant wait to return here! The only downside? A little more expensive than other places we visited. But it was worth it!
Recommendation from Hotel Novotel and was very good. Starters traditionally French onion soup was good but could of been hotter for me. Main course rib steak and my wife sea bass was very good and cooked perfectly. Desert profiteroles with vanilla ice cream filling and fresh hot chocolate was excellent plus a special house pudding of egg whites and custard was given as a free tester was equally excellent. Typically French and a good overall recommendation.
