Le Bistrot de Chiang Mai - French restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand
This is our favorite restaurant in Chiang Mai! We come here at least once a week. Best steaks in town and all the other dishes are prepared with care from Chef Olivier.Super yummy! Cant recommend it enough!
Best steak in town. Owners are very friendly
Great atmosphere, delicious food and amazing service!Just go and enjoy it!
When someone loves his job then what he serves you can only be full of love. Too bad there aren’t 6 stars here.(You get what you pay, that’s the law of nature as well, quantity Vs Quality, worth every baht)
Decided I wanted a steak as a change from Thai food. I was not disappointed. Simply Delicious with a glass of wine.
The food was fantastic. Make a reservation as it tends to get busy on the weekends.
Great food and really good service. Was really surprised to find a restaurant with excellent French cuisine! 10/10 would recommend!
Very nice evening at Le bistrot! Good selection of cold cuts, tasty cassoulet and wonderfull piece of ryb eye dry age. The chef/owner is very friendly and is making everything to make you spend a good evening. It’s worth a visit!
Weve had an amazing dinner. Every dish was fantastic. We will come again!
Amazing home made patte, steak was one of the best as compared to many places, not just in Chiang Mai but other counties too. Wine was good too. Friendly owners and staff. Highly recommended.
Truly a hidden gem. Order a signature steak, beef was super tender. Everything else is good too. Will go back again for sure.
Amazing food. Excellent service. Highly recommend
The owners and staff were super friendly and hospitable. Their food is excellent and blew us away. We had their best seller - Tournedos Rossini - and we know why its their best. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Will definitely recommend this place if you are visiting chiang mai and crave steak. Really the best steak in town!
One of the best french restaurants in Chiang Mai. Chef is mr.Olivie, from Dijon area, skilled use of some original ingredients imported from France, and also some local good products. It is kinda fine dining, but you will feel homemade french cusine tastes as well. And always can ask Olivie to prepare in special way for you. Place for gourme.Отличный французский ресторан, один из лучших в ЧМ. Рекомендую.
Had the best steak of my life here. I’m from California and have eaten at some of the best steak restaurants that were easily 3x the price, none come close to the steak I had here. 10/10
There were 4 of us there for dinner. The restaurant was very comfortably furnished. We ate carpaccio, onion soup, 2 types of spaghetti, beef tartare and duck breast. Everything we ate was really really fantastic, all dishes exactly as they should be. The staff very courteous and friendly. The price was rather high but we are happy to pay a bit more if everything is right for it. We will definitely come back. Many thanks for the nice evening.
Amazing food and the most welcoming staff. Im yet to find a better dinner in Chiang Mai. If you live here Le Bistro is a monthly mandatory visit.
Good quality ingredients, well cooked and nicely presented. House wines are good and price reasonable. Special mention on the cheese selection!Friendly Service supervised by the Chef and his wife.A must to visit if you crave for French food in Chiang Mai.
The tenderloin was very good and cooked as expected. I ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon (Chilewhich matched perfectly with the dish. The gratin Lyonnais was also very good and tasty
Very attentful owners. Food just exquisite cooked at perfection. If you re craving for Western food especially French? Dont hesitate well worth a visit. 👍👍👍👍
Great little French restaurant with really great food. Expensive but worth it.Only thing I have to say is that the service is very friendly but also a bit too fast, I almost felt rushed. With food like this you need some time to digest after every course.
We have reservations for 8pm. But when we arrived, no one paid any attention. Finally, the staff arranged to sit down outside the door. Wait 30 minutes for no menu. No one came out to watch us. We also have a 5 years old kid with us.He was already very hungry. We must to go inside found staff for order food by ourselves. But the staff was denied dinner that night. Lets leave. Said we didnt have an appointment. They cant provide service. I showed them their text confirming the appointment. But we were still told there were no seats for us. So we were asked to leave after 40 minutes. I could eat nothing. But my 5 years boy waited without any hospitality. I dont know if your food is excellent, but we are very disappointed in this incident.
My experience was perfect. Not only because of the authenticity of the incredibly delicious and rustic portions of homemade pâtés, but also because of the warmth and attentiveness shown throughout my visit. The atmosphere is so cozy that it’s perfect for date night or intimate parties. Right now we can’t travel to France – so what! Visit Le Bistrot de Chiang Mai and I promise you’ll be very glad you did.
Strongly recommended: Even if the tables and chairs look like they came from "The Flintstones": This is a great French bistro! Original recipes are perfectly prepared, friendly service, good wine list. And: reasonable prices!
Recommended if youre looking for a nice French restaurant to have a nice dinner in town. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly too. ⭐
Great food and service. One of the best French restaurants in Chiang Mai.The Beef Bourguignon (Burgundywas amazing.
Fantastc French resteraunt. Proper French cuisine, in a nice cosy setting. The Turbot was exceptional, though the apple tart is also fantastic. Good service and well prived. Worth a visit.
Current favourite French casual dinning here in Chiang Mai . Perfect for family, very good dinner were presented. Price point was fair! Just made my meal a very pleasant one. Hurray!
Absolutely a great pleasant experience and such a perfect meal drinks and service. We had such a great dinner experience at your place. Thank you 🙏
If you are French like me, you go to Le Bistrot de Chiang Mai because you know that the food is as authentic as when you were a kid and only your mother knew the dishes that made you feel ecstatic! Yesterday I had a wonderful flank steak (medium rearserved with a delicious mixed salad, home made french fries (frankly speaking just amazing!), along with a pepper sauce and a glass of red wine (Montepulciano); and for the dessert a creme brulée ... it could not have been better! I like the warmth of the place, the atmosphere, the decoration, the music ... Olivier and his wife are beautiful people and will make you feel at home. Everything that I have tried on the menu had been a wonderful experience (andouillette with mustard sauce, magret de canard, navarin dagneau, caprese salad ...). When I have homesickness, this is the place where I go! Definitely my favorite French restaurant in town!!
How wonderful to find a restaurant where the owner cooks and is a professional chef and his wife takes care of the restaurant. We found the food to be excellent & authentic French. This is a simple place, but well worth a visit. When staying at Le Meridien then this is just a very short walk away from the hotel. We shall return and can recommend this restaurant.
I was very impressed by the food as well as the service. Really top notch. The owners came out to chat with us more than once. They were very friendly, and really helpful with recommendations for food and wine. They did not have the wine we asked for so they gave us an even nicer wine for the same price, and it was fantastic. The cheese plate was excellent with a very nice mix of different styles of cheese. I ordered salmon pasta, and it was delicious and perfectly seasoned. My partner had the wagyu ribeye and could not stop raving about it. Truly a great culinary experience!
Le meilleur resto français de Chiang Mai / the best French restaurant in Chiang Mai!Le Bistrot has a mouth-watering and diverse menu for both food and wine. Above all, quality is impeccable and Oliviers recommendations for the wine always spot-on, all at a very reasonable price. In addition to all this, Olivier and Sao are great hosts, very nice and welcoming!A highly recommended address: we actually have indulged again and again during our week in Chiang Mai... And looking forward to our next visit (in both Chiang Mai and Le Bistrot, definitely)! 😍
One of the best French restaurant in Chaing Mai by french chef. The food is “real” French cuisine. Food is really nice as fine cooking. The owner/waitress also acts as sommelier as well. Ask for the wine and she will paired some wine with food fir you. If there is a time, the chef will walks from the kitchen and ask you if the food is alright. The price is ok for what you get. No parking lot, need to park on the street where sometimes hard to find but worth for. Recommended.
Absolutely fantastic French food. High quality ingredients, great wine and a superb menu that was so hard to choose from - we wanted everything! The cassoulet was incredible; the chefs version here is light enough for the Thai heat while still being one of the best, if not the best, I have eaten. Steak was cooked to perfection and pâté, saucisson and bread to start were a true taste of France. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and the service was excellent. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, it is a real treasure.
Outstanding restaurant!!! Very kind owners and excellent service. Cassoulet de Canard was fabulous. Strongly recommend.
This place is great if you are tired eating too much spicy Thai food. We ordered steak and salad, the quality was so tasty than we expected. The bread was good too. Much better than the ones I can find in Tokyo.I had to come back to the place after a week because I left my small towel. The restaurant was already closed but owner lady was warm welcomed me. It was impressive after I realized that towel was washed by them. Sorry it’s nothing related to the food but I wanna tell them here that thank you so much for your hospitality and good service:)
Fenomenal! Super! Lecker! Fantastico!!! After One week Thai food, something that can regenerate you!!!
This is a great place. I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the staff. The owner is very nice and talkative, service was with a smile and surprisingly fast, and I felt welcomed even though Im more of a street/casual person and probably not their usual crowd.I had beef tenderloin which was stupendous. Apparently the meat is dried for a very long time before being cooked which gives amazing results in taste and texture! I couldnt help myself and also tried the lamb stew which was very very high end.If you want to have a proper meal with a good ambiance and get to know an interesting dude (the ownerwhile youre at it you should really check this place out!
Wonderful dinner at Le Bistrot last night. The owner and has wife were very friendly and accommodating with our kids. Small restaurant but it was fairly empty as went went early (6pm).Excellent French cuisine which was a great change up while on a Thai vacation. The Flank Steak and Risotto were both excellent.
Decent French restaurant, nice ambience, food is quite good (although pate didn’t seem it was homemade), a bit pricey for Chiang Mai but it’s ok as it is a bit upscale place.
Nice french restaurant, cozy and hearty food that are sumptuous and exciting to eat:love to go again
French cozy place for dinner. traditional restaurant. lovely area for me is the gin tonic offered. thats my favourite.the dish is usually large. suitable for a group of people to enjoy.with pizza, salad and sausage.union soup is super. I love that.
Had the best steak I’ve literally ever eaten! My partner had the vegetarian risotto and was also very impressed with the taste and presentation. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and we are looking forward to trying more of the menu soon. Staff were really friendly, service was impeccable and we had a really good chat with the owners who took the time to sit and talk to us. Many thanks!
Love it here. Usually dine here for lunch on a Sunday and cant understand why the place isnt busier. Yes its expensive but the food is first class. Tried quite a few things on the menu and never disappointed.
Great food and ambiance. Owner chef always happy to have a friendly chat and enlighten diners about the food sources , preparation etc.
When was the last time a chef took time out from the kitchen to meet with you? It was only to say Bon Appetit but that set the tone for such a lovely evening ahead. He neednt have troubled himself however, the food alone far outdid my expectations. The restaurant is also blessed with being a very short walk from all the major hotels at Loi Kroh Road / Night Bazaar Area. Prices are very reasonable and I feel comfortable in how dressed down I am while enjoying all this good food. It feels like Im dining in a persons home and I like that feel.
It was a great experience to have this kind of high class steak in Chiang Mai.The appetizer meat platter was just great! We can highly recommend this place to any meat lover that is ready to pay the price for good quality.
Loved the Toulouse sausage and pâté platter. We also took the kids there. They ate all the pastas! Highly recommend, especially if you happen to be in the citys tourist area and are after some quality Western cuisine.
The best lasagna weve ever had!!!!!!!!!!Both dishes were good but their lasagna......was sooooooooooo great! We got to talk to the chefs wife and she was very nice and they seem like they really care about their food.Too bad we didnt stay long enough in Chiang Mai... next time when we come back to CM, we will definitely come back there.I see people complain about their price but i strongly disagree with that. Can you get these food for this price in your country?Their service is great and the food quality is good so i dont get it. You can go out and find a cheaper place but you wont get the same quality of the food.
