Health-minded, counter-serve chain featuring creative, globally influenced bowls & burritos.
Food aside - nothing new its LP- the tipping entitlement and self bussing feature is gonna be a NO- what am i tipping for then? Tipping is an EARNED item not a given you don’t get extra pay for showing up.The lady with the mask who decides that sweeping up dust close to people eating is the right thing to do.Modest Mouse was on the overhead but i didn’t feel anything funny at this planet.
This place is so wholesome and delicious!Same employees for a long time makes me think they treat their people well too.My favorites are the veggie quesadilla and the Thai bowl. So delicious - every time.Update (8/2/22)No "shrink-flation" here! Our Thai bowls were bigger than ever!We love this place!
I always get bad vibes in here. Maybe because I’m from the older generation? As a rule, whenever I walk in they refuse to take my order and not very nicely, tell me to CALL IT IN because I am 5 or 10 minutes early (then why are the DOORS open?)
Friendly staff, fantastic food, great atmosphere.
Always excellent! We eat here often, more than any other restaurant in the area.
Good food and good service. Only nitpick would be the chips seem like they came from something like Kroger
The Moroccan bowl was AMAZING! such a nice mix of flavors!!! Great service and food!! 100% recommend!!!!
Food was great and so fresh!
Delicious and healthy food! Its easy to order ahead online for takeout, but they just opened back up for indoor dining too.
The mushroom tacos are really great. The addition of the radishes and guacamole gives it such an interesting flavor.
Consistent and better than a average Hispanic influenced fast food.
The staff here are very friendly and upbeat, and the food was delicious!
I’ve never tried Laughing Planet before, though I’ve really meant to. I found a deal on Too Good To Go, an app meant to reduce food waste, and I saw it as a sign that I should finally try it. For $5 I got a small chicken, cheese, rice, and corn burrito; a side of rice and beans with a green salsa sauce; and three giant chocolate peppermint cookies. Everything was delicious! The chicken in the burrito was plentiful and moist. I have no idea what that green sauce was but it was SO good! I liked that the black beans weren’t over cooked—they still were still in bean form as opposed to overcooks beans that mush up (but aren’t supposed to be refried-style). The cookies were amazing and I feel so lucky to have gotten three lol. Everything I ate was fresh and didn’t feel stale. I’m definitely intrigued now and will be back to try something on the menu.
Love Laughing Planet! Their food is yummy, their online ordering site is excellent, and their staff are wonderful. I love patronizing them.
Food is great, but they are so slooooow. Expect 60-80 minutes to get your order.
Not decent enough to update Google with temporary closure info. There are hundreds of us roaming around for a cool place and each of your stores that fail to post closure information is harming us.Please - the internet exists. Use it.
Korean BBQ bowl. Laughing planet never disappoints me
I love the food but having to wait 45 min for my order is not excusable. I ordered online so I wouldnt have to wait. They need to figure out their system.
"We cant let you wait in our entirely empty and open space." .. "But we also WONT notify you when your oder is ready because we asked you to wait outside." Have to say worst service of any of the locations, and Ive tried them all. Asked for specific quantities of 2 suaces. It was very obvious they did not listen and/or execute. Couldnt even taste the sauce I ordered extra of. Not very friendly. No napkins provided for my to go order.. Very confrontational. I will not return to this location 😤
Good food, made as advertised. Staff is careful to special make specific requests. LOTS of great vegetarian options.
Can I give more stars? I have been here several times and completely appreciate how they accommodate children while still offering good food. I, however, write this review today because they are offering free meals to children who’s families rely on our school system for meals while our school systems are shut down. I am not one of those families, but I am a mom. And I can’t even begin to imagine the impact they are making. Thank you!!!
Inexpensive, wholesome food, and plastic dinosaurs on the table for kids to play with. Their hot sauce is lovely. This particular one is understaffed from time to time (staff sometimes move from location to locationbut their back patio is a pleasant enough place to wait.
Fantastic vegetarian options. The attention to quality ingredients and nutrition stands out.Theyre comfortable is one of my favorite items after swimming at the community pool across the street.
If you are looking for a great family friendly veg-vegan-gluten free eco options restaurant, this is it. Try the spicy Thai bowl with peanut sauce with tofu, or the warm spicing of the Harvest bowl. Eight local beers on tap are always available. The grandkids love the guacamole and chips here, and the burritos are popular, too. The Buoy IPA from Astoria was an excellent choice. A popular family friendly neighborhood restaurant means it is frequently busy, but there is a patio out back weather permitting. Phone and online ordering is available.
Very prompt and polite service. The food always comes out fresh, and always tastes very good. It is very very kid friendly, so be careful of what time you go to eat because you could be dining with lots of noisy children.
Ordered our food by calling in our order and when we got there, it was hot and ready. High quality ingredients with generous portions. Price is fair for being locally sourced ingredients and it feels good knowing your purchase is supporting local businesses. If you havent tried them I recommend you do! Staff and restaurant is family friendly and very clean.
My second time patronizing Laughing Planet. I just recently have begun my journey to becoming vegan. And I have come to not only enjoy the atmosphere but also the options they offer. The staff has been very friendly each time. They even offer suggestions as well as allowing me to sample beverages. So I diffinately recommend this place. Enjoyed the chili!
Service was pretty slow, and prices werent the best. Food was good and given that its all locally sourced I can understand why it was the price it was. The tables we were sitting at were pretty dirty, had lots of food on the floor and even some dishes too like a cup and a condiment dish. Food was delicious, but I dont think Id come back given my negative impression
Very accomodating for allergies - one member of our group has several food allergies and they were able to accommodate successfully (she had no reactions). Food was tasty and they have several vegetarian options. The only issue was that the rice was quite wet, making burritos soggy. However, overall the food was quite good.
Pleasent staff! I had a smoothie that was fresh and delicious. I also ordered a bowl that came with more food than expected :)The broccoli was still crunchy, exactly how I like it.I cant wait to come back!
Not impressed, Burrito tasted like someone opened a can of beans and a can of diced green chillis and threw them in a store bought cold flour tortilla and folded it up. Zero flavor horrible food and the beer was not cold. Wife got a bowl and it was skimpy and gross. I hate to leave bad reviews but hoping this will maybe spark some change. I hate to see a small business fail.
Filling food. Fun for the kids while they wait. Helpful & kind staff. Clean and well kept restaurant.
First time here. The food was really good, but I get a little weary of how clean the kitchen is when the rest of the establishment isn’t well kept. The bathroom seemed as if it hadn’t been maintained in sometime. No toilet empty with a roll sitting on the toilet, floor and sick dirty. It was only 1pm so I just assumed it hadn’t been cleaned from the previous day. Attention to detail says a lot, so I hope someone pays attention to this.
Downhill? I’ve eaten here often. Today, I wondered why I paid $20 for a disgusting bowl of food I couldn’t even finish. To start the place was filthy and it was 11:45 before lunch. I had to wipe my table down. I ordered the harvest bowl that had wilted and old looking kale. A side of green sauce that was spicy but no flavor. There were thick strips of uncooked yam that was never peeled and 4 strips of carrot. What the heck laughing planet??? Too many awesome eateries in Portland. I won’t be back to this one
I really want to like this place...but after giving them a few tries...I just cant get past the problems with their service. I do like their commitment to local food, and generally, most items on the menu are good to pretty good. But, even with order ahead, theres often a wait (as much as 15 min). They seem chronically understaffed, and its hit or miss with respect to friendliness of the staff. Some are great. Others, not so much. I dont recommend against them, but youll likely want to prepare for a wait and some disorder.
I’ve been enjoying Laughing Planet burritos on a semi-regular basis for the last 13 years. Their ingredients are fresh and there are plenty of healthy and unhealthy options, so it’s a great place to go with a group. If their prices were a little lower, I would give them five stars, and I would eat here frequently. $7.50 for a burrito with just some beans, corn, chili’s, salsa, and cheese is pretty steep.
Great healthy options. Kid friendly.
Still wishing this old sparkling water in glass bottles but I understand the Pellegrino / Pepsi concept. We were the only two there and my husbands meal was ordered as vegan but came with cheese. We mentioned it to them and thankfully they recalled our specific order request and gave us a deep discount. We understand people make mistakes and we understand they were grateful to have us and made an effort to have us back again. We are regulars there for years and continue to happily support them! They do provide great service
This is a very "Portland-esque" eatery, which Im usually into, but my husband is not. I was so pleasantly shocked when my husband really enjoyed the Korean pork bowl. I also LOVED my veggie and grain bowl, so it was a win-win! I was also impressed that you throw everything (trash, leftover food, recyclables, serving dishesinto the same bin and the staff separate out everything for you.
Delicious, interesting, and healthy food combos. Not you average burrito place. Great atmosphere with toy dinosaurs as decoration and to play with. Its good for families or couples or individuals with plenty of seating. They take phone orders to go as well.
Good, healthy food. The menu is a bit complicated when you first look at it, so I just asked the cashier what she liked. I ended up with the quesadilla and it was amazing. Came with your choice of salsa, mild, medium, or hot. All in all a great experience and will definitely be coming back.
We like to go at times that there are the least toddlers, its a family place and can get quite loud. For adults they offer wine, beer and fresh Margaritas as well as fruit smoothies. The food is made from good unprossesd healthy fruits, veggies. They also offer vegan items. You can also call or go to peruse food for take out. Really friendly good place!
Fantastic food! My wife and I had lunch here after visiting Gabriel Park. Its great to see that they have vegan alternatives in case youre a vegetarian (like replacing chicken with tofu or tempehwhich we fully took advantage of.
The food is great, but the service is hit or miss. I was greeted but asked to wait three times before I could order when the place was nearly empty and I was the only one in line, and as I happened to be in a rush, I didnt appreciate being asked to wait for no apparent reason. The cashier made me feel like I was bothering her and hadnt tried any menu items I asked about. Took 15 mins for one burrito to go and the habenero sauce had a splash of sauce in them, not bothered to actually fill up the container. My favourite sauce! But then the cashier after her was great! I wish it were consistent excellent service. Half the time my stuff has beans in it when I always ask for none. Frustrating, because the food really is yummy.
First of all, the Santa Fe Burrito was good.Price is fair, for real food in Portland. My giant burrito that could have served two was $9.50. And it was delicious. The service seems a little ill-equipped for the lunch rush. The cashier had to leave in the middle of ringing me up. The poor young man serving the food was running outside to deliver to-go orders while delivering several tables orders. Even so, I got my food, hot and ready, 15 minutes after I paid. I ate my burrito and got back to work in time.
I have had only good experiences at Laughing Planet. From the customer service to the food itself, its hard to beat the locally sourced and healthy ingredients they use. My favorite item is likely the Bubba burrito with chicken despite their gas-less beans being quite the opposite. (Psst, I highly advise soaking the beans in water with kombu strips!Overall the food, atmosphere, and service are worthy of a solid 4/5.
I ordered a bowl to go. When I got it home it was cold, had a hair in it and about two dinky tablespoons of rice. I called the restaurant to let them know and they put me on hold for a manager. After about five+ minutes the call was dropped. Bad, overpriced food and terrible service. I work extremely hard for my money so to have it wasted by the this sub-par establishment and then to be given the run around is very frustrating. Ill never go here again and plan on letting everyone know about this experience.ALSO, they will not simply make a substitute to make something vegan. They will actually charge you MORE MONEY. Ludicrous.
My favorite fast food esque joint! Plentiful vegetarian/vegan options and its all pretty healthy! Laughing Planet is a sustainable focused company with fresh and local ingredients. If youve never been to one of these cafes, get their quick!
I always love Laughing Planet, and this place is more than just a restaurant. It is a watering hole. The location has a lot of sitting inside and out. Youll come in and see friends and families catching up with each other while the kids can run around. This place is a great location for the community, and it is even more surprising being in a small, local strip mall. Also, the food is always good. I highly recommend the Southwest green Chili burrito. Also, you better get yourself a smoothie too.
Had lunch there with my granddaughter. Staff was friendly and décor was just okay. The food was the most bland and tasteless I have had since eating hospital food. Hardly any flavor whatsoever. I realize the food is primarily vegan and that being the case they need to be much more creative. The smoked chicken quesadilla was terrible-a small amount of chicken, salsa, and cheese I could not even taste that could have been put together buy a child. Even the salsa and chips were bad. Considering the simplicity of the ingredients the food is way overpriced as well. Total waste of $15.
