Latin's Flavor - Restaurant in Harrisonburg, United States
It was great food ! Reminds me of my moms cooking.
I had to revise my review after hearing how the owner treats his employees and female customers. No amount of good food is worth supporting that kind of person.
This place was awesome!!!!! The food was amazing and our server was so sweet! Everyone in the Harrisonburg area needs to try this dining establishment 😊.
There chicken pupusas are legit! Check them out!
May have been an off day for them, food was terrible. Would not recomend this place.
Who closes early on Saturday? Latin flavors that’s who! Wild they can even stay in business and the lady didn’t even speak up loud enough for us to hear her talk! There was new tables that had just gotten sat a few minutes before us too! Last time I’ll be doing business with them!
The food was really great! As a Salvadoran myself, I was glad to finally have some great pupusas and they have the best pupusas in the area. The workers are really nice and I enjoyed my time here
The best authentic and tasty food in harrisonburg! Great vibes!! The new staff are really nice and very attentive.
On our first trip to Harrisonburg we were thrilled to find this place. Great food and vegan options:)
My coworkers and I have ordered from here a few years ago. This time I was very disappointed in the Yuca preparada dish. I was expecting more out of the dish as I have had it a few years ago. There was not enough yuca(portion was smalland not enough salad for the price. The flavors could have been better. I also ordered the vegetarian arepas and there was no avocado and no salsa to go along 😩.
The ambiance is great. You feel the Carribean touch. The server was polite. Great place to hang out in Harrisonburg.
The restaurant is very bad and the workers dont work, they dance inside the kitchen and they dont work, and the waiting period for food is more than forty minutes, bad service.
The food was out of the world! Very different and you get to try the food from different Caribbean countries.. we are definitely going to come back.
Small restaurant with a big Caribbean heart! The food is unique and absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable. I really enjoyed the beef Shwarma with fried sweet plantains. Highly recommended!
I had a very bad experience here. The customer service is horrible. The lady at the front desk is really rude. I spoke to her both in English and Spanish. I asked for 2 tacos of chicken “dos tacos de pollo” and she still charged me and gave me 4 tacos. And the food took forever. Just 2 tacos shouldn’t take close to 1 hour. She was also being rude the whole time.
Fantastic!! A great hole-in-the-wall Latin American place. Friendly staff and delicious food. I must if youre in Harrisburg.
Excited to try the food but overall this place needs way more employees. One girl running the entire show. Kitchen having 30+ minute ticket times.
I don’t know what’s happened to Latin’s Flavor. Living in Harrisonburg means that my girlfriend and I have access to dozens of great places to eat and we usually cycle through our favorites every couple of months. Last time we visited, we had great food and great service but today was the opposite. We ordered only three empanadas and not only did it take 40 minutes to get them with only 2 other tables ordering food, but the empanadas were cold and disgusting. Another thing to note is that after tipping our server 20%, she proceeds to roll her eyes at me when I ask her what kinds of sauces they offer. Overall subpar experience, and the last time they’ll have our business.
I used to like this place 2 years ago...but they have consistently gone down in their service and quality of their food. I dont want to be mean but communicating with staff is very difficult because the last few times I was there, no one speaks English, and I cant speak Spanish. The food isnt made as well as before and nor does it have any flavor. The problem is I couldnt even communicate this because of the language barrier. They are often only serving a limited menu despite having an extensive menu. Many of the things I want to try, they dont have. It is just disappointing because it was really good, but not anymore. I do not recommend this place if you care about having good dining experience. If you dont care and just want food, then go for it.
Ordered pollo con tajadas, I got turkey legs and sweet plantains instead..very dissapointing considering that was our third Time ordering same things from this place. Also ordered a torta ,We got beef tacos instead which they sent email letting us know about the switch however the meat was so tough my husband couldnt eat it.So pretty much a waste of time and money.Pineapple batido was delicious!
I had never gone through something like this, I am Latina and Latinos are only warm, kind, polite, honest. The place was recommended to me and we went for food for some hungry and tired basketball players. we ordered chicken with plantain, (pollo con tajadaa dish that is heaven, too delicious and instead we received a cabbage dish, something that was nothing like what we ordered, I did not go and make a mess because God is great. but I really give them a 0 in service.
I ordered some pupusas earlier today and they said it would be 30 minutes 1 hour 30 minutes they delivered the foodSome lacked cheese and were cold
The wait staff was sub par, at best. The beans and rice was flavorless, at least throw some cilantro at it. In fact, for a latin place not one dish had any cilantro in it. Tacos flautas were dry and seasonless, papusa setved with no sauce. The papusas were pretty good, although I ordered the variety three pack and all I got was chicken. Potential here, but they need to adress some things....
Good food. Good prices overall. The only issue I would say, even when you call ahead sometimes you still have to wait a while for the food to come out.
This place not only has authentic Latin cuisine, but it offers a unique, laid-back atmosphere. And when you take into account how affordable it is to eat here, you can safely say its one of the best values in the area. They have specials almost every day of the week, including our favorite, Taco Wednesdays!
Food wasnt flavored enough. Waitress was on her phone the entire time. Had to get up myself to ask her for something else. She still sat there for another 30 minutes without moving, so we just paid and left. She still charged us for what we ordered and didnt bring us.
Always eat here and have never been disappointed! I recommend this place for sure!!!
The best food in town, anytime I have anyone visiting from out of town I bring them here. Great prices, great food, and a great atmosphere. I recommend their pupusas
The papusas, vegetarian empanada, fried yucca are amazing! So far we have enjoyed everything we have tried. The only complaint would be dine in service can be pretty slow, we waited half an hour for our food; so definitely better to take out.
Great food. Really enjoyed the enpanadas and the pupusas. The only bad thing was the long wait. Was there for about 45 waiting on an order.
I always try to find great Latino restaraunt while were vacationing. This place looked promising.(Ordered pick up via Uber Eats).First of all, they replaced my 3 Tamales de Pollo with 3 Corn Tamales. They are totally different dishes...first ones are savory with some veggies and pulled chicken, second ones are dense sweet corn mass...couldnt eat it (at least, was refunded by Uber Eats), but was very dissapointed, since these Tamales de Pollo were the main dish Id like to get, and everything else just followed.Tacos de Carne were good. Flavorful and tasty.Empanadas (chicken, beef): Fried. Expected to be baked, but coulld overlook it if the beef filling wasnt that dry and chewy...couldnt eat it at all. Chicken empanada was better.
The empanadas are incredible!! The food was freshly made and hot. Nice little place with great food and a lot of different choices. They have excellent prices and daily specials with great drink specials as well.We will be back!!
Delicious food. Enjoyed everything. Generous portions. So accommodating when we placed a huge order and also wanted 10 servings of horchata without having to carry 10 full cups. They gave us two huge pitchers full. And the horchata is the best we have had anywhere.
Amazing!!!!! My JMU student kept telling me about the new favorite restaurant. Did carry out because of COVID. Completely affordable for college students AND delectable to the palate. Reminded me of being in Central America! The vegan and vegatarian menu options are a plus. Highly recommend
I ordered a salad, expecting a very simple salad, but it surprised me how well made this simple this was. I got the salad with steak, chicken, and shrimp, and while the steak was overdone, I thought the shrimp was some of the best Ive ever had. Seared shrimp is hard to do right, but this place really nailed it. The sauces were excellentIm very impressed with the pricing and deals that Latins Flavor has. Thats whats really encouraging me to come back. Definitely one of the hidden gems of Harrisonburg!
Amazing food! Chachapas are our favorite - along with their cheese or chicken pupusas. Dont skip the sauces they bring to you in bottles or the plantains for a semi-sweet treat.UPDATE: Still love them. Came to write a review because the food is so good, but realized Id already written one. There was a small communication issue with Grubhub, so if you order for pickup, it may be worth a follow up call directly to them to ensure they got your order. Still very happy with them and highly recommend going!!!
Delicious, authentic food from various Latin-American countries. Affordably priced. Friendly staff. Best pupusas Ive ever had! Try the Honduran baleadas too!
I love Latin Flavor, their food is amazing. But dang is their service inconsistent (or maybe just consistently poor). I spent an hour sitting with an empty glass and had to get my food to go because food wasnt ready, even tho they werent busy.My suggestion is to go as long as you can spend over an hour. Its well worth it, but plan on at least an hour.
Today’s experience:Very disappointed in the service. I’m new to the area and l was looking forward to coming in. I walked in and was not greeted. I spoke to a blonde haired female who stated to sit anywhere and someone would be there to give me a menu. I waiting 15-20 minutes sitting there with no one coming over. Then two persons came after me and they were being tended to. If fact the waitress turned looked at me and went back to the kitchen. That was it... I walked out. Horrible service. I felt feeling unwelcomed.. I work in the city and will not step foot there again.... very unwelcoming and poor service... (was not busy at the time either).
The food was very good and reasonably priced. Overall, the service was not very good. We were never asked how our food was, nor were we offered any refills on our drinks.
Tuesday Special are $1 Pork Pupusas. BONUS -They are Gluten Free. I also like the Empanada de carne - shredded beef in a hot pocket- also gluten free. Tell Jessica I said hello. Lol.
Good food and service and good prices too..My family and I try different plates. The food flavor was good except for the deep fried Arepas dough.
Ive ordered online multiple times via Doordash and each time I have written in the comments additions to my order, and I have also called the location each time to confirm my requests. However, upon arrival nothing I personalized in my order was done. Also, in my order of Baleadas my tortilla was NOT fully cooked. Disappointed.
The empanada de queso is great. The Carne a la plancha con tajadas is awesome. Steak with green banana slices. Delicious. Who knew?? So many great options. Definitely a must try if you like Latin food.
This is easily one of my favorite places in the valley! The food is amazing! There is no way you can go wrong with anything on the menu! Get the any of the chabuarmas or the chachapas! You wont regret it!
I loved the restaurant Las Chamas that Latin Flavor replaced. I was very glad to see that they still have some of the same staples my wife and I would always get - Pabellon Criollo a Caballo and Chabuarma La Machaca. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely check this place out if you like Central American food that’s offers more than just Mexican.
This place is great. The food is cheap $ but tastes amazing. Its authentic and has been great every time I have came here. It is never to busy and the staff has always been very helpful and nice. Great place.
We were visiting Harrisonburg and stumbled on this restaurant on the first day it was open. The service was friendly and fast, and the food was incredible! The green and white sauces were amazing, and our arepas were perfectly crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. I had the arepa vegetariana and it was packed with flavorful black beans, cheese, ripe avocado and plantain. My horchata was blended with ice- different than Ive had before, but very delicious. The atmosphere is nothing special, but it is comfortable, bright and clean. We were only in town for 2 days, and I regret not going back!
They saved some of the best things from the prior restaurant and added some of the best food from Central America. Just had a great first meal there. Everyone was happy with the food and how it turned out. Service was good.
Latins Flavor is the new (Nov 2018restaurant thats taken over from Maria, the owner of Las Chamas, selling her business. Theyve retained about half of the menu of Las Chamas and added some Mexican and Salvadoran food. The prices are basically the same and the food is very similar. If youre like me, and had a regular order before, the new folks were willing to work with me even though my order wasnt on the menu. The feel of the restaurant is similar, other than the ceiling being painted black which makes the whole place seem much smaller. The amazing table sauces are still here, the green and white taste just like they did before, but the orange one is not what Maria made. Its good, but its not the spicy sauce it was.Las Chamas was my favorite restaurant in Harrisonburg and this isnt the same. But, I cant give the new place anything but 5 stars as my meal and service were both excellent, Im sure the Riveras will do well here. Theyre working on getting their liquor license and delivery sorted out (Nov 2018).
