Lappeenrannan Hiekkalinna - Tourist attraction in Lappeenranta, Finland
Never been to Lappeenranta before! Visited there on a beautiful day with great weather👀👌🏼But these sand sculptures are great!! I recommend highly check it out if you are near this place
I am not sure if this the sand Astle for tourist things recommendations,, sounds like only pile of sands here 🤪😂
Its in poor state but open not closed as mentioned here
Nice!
Every year create new sand design wonderful
Figures made from sand. No entrance fees.
Good for family, group and tourist
A very nice display of sandworks. So well done!!
I have seen this multiple times since it started. Today its just a basic sandcastle in bigger size. Nothing special and nothing new. Even the city has stopped working with this and there is nothing special aroung the castle. If you are not already in Lappeenranta, dont go there just to see this. Its waste of time and money.
Cool but nothing really special
It was nice to check it out and its free entrance. Its kind of small place and good atmosphere.
Its open from June till September and youll admire every season (yeardifferent sculptures... Very nice 👌🏼
It could be organized much better, for example being allowed also evening entrance and adding stands with souvenir or other stuff to incentivate the whole thing. It was working much better 10 years ago
Awesome to spend time in the harber
Completely free and interesting. Book that small train-shaped bus for "Lappeenranta tour" which runs hourly from 12pm (noonto 5pm. Timing can differ so please check. You can book it from the booth in front of the castle. Sand castle is a nice places to eat some ice-cream etc too at the premises besides some fun stuff for children. Not worth travelling from far away, but if youre nearby you should very much go! A bit boring and small this year (2021), but the gaming theme was interesting. Hours of hard work and skill have gone in to this fabulous annually changing attraction.
Unique, beautiful and lovely.
Awesome arcade and games themed sand sculptures. Highly recommend!
Very basic constructions. Felt like a false advertising. The construction is alright but far far away from a sandcastle.
Recommend it. Completely free and interesting. Not worth travelling from far away but if youre nearby you should very much go!
Nice art.enjoyed it
A must see for those visiting Lappeenranta. Hours of hard work and skill have gone in to this fabulous annually changing attraction.
Quite good place to spend time with kids. Also a small paid play area with trampoline.
Nothing worthwhile. You can kill some time here but definitely not the trip if you have to drive for more than 10mins
Nice sculpture in Lappeenranta
Nice sand castle. There are different sculptures that are related to games. After watching the sand castle, we went to the to International food market which was amazing.
Games its theme of this year.
A bit boring this year, but the gaming theme was interesting.
Beautiful and exciting place 🤩
Its nice but tiny... Like there were about 7-8 carvings and statues...
Could have been good if we werent too late . The festival was gone, leaving only pile of sand. Though the walk around was fine
The beautyful and unsual figures about theme of Lapperantas 370 years (history, famous people and etc).
Great sculptures , but quite small place. Kinds have activation whole day just 4€ .
The sand sculptures were wonderful but as an artist myself I was appalled that there was not a single credit to the artists who had created the works!!!!
Was pleasently surprised. Even though it was raining, the sand sculptures were not breaking apart. Id say this is a must if visiting Lappeenranta. There are places to get coffee and ice cream too. + A parking space if you plan to travel by car.
Good coffee but was hard to tell due to too much syrup
Nice sand sculptures. Not a big place. Free entrance. very nice but small. About 10 sculptures. Next to a small adventure park for young (3-10 years oldchildren.
Its open to the public free of charge which is nice. There isnt that much to see but still worth a visit just to be amazed by the talent of the artists
This year the topic is the anniversary of Lappeenranta. As always, the sand sculpture park is great :They also added some information on geology of Saimaa.
Such a nice place to walk around. Sand castle is amazing!
Important sightseeing. Very beautiful sand art, but unfortunately only open in summer. You can also get food nearby Hiekkalinna.
Great sculptures, too bad the attractions were not open today. My kids were a bit disappointed, but they still had some fun playing in the sandbox
I like the Sandcastle. Even quite old children like to play in the sandpit and grown-ups and even teenagers like to marvel the build. This year I think there was some particularly detailed and complex parts to the builds. It great to see but rides and kiosks are only open in the weekend in August. This dropped my rating, for even if it is back to school and work in Finland, there are still quite a bit of tourists about and my daughter was very disappointed not getting to go to the rides. So if you can, in August go on the weekend. I would have given four or even five stars if we could have visited in July. Free fun in the sandpit on a nice day still.
Kind of small park with various attractions, the main being the spectacular sand sculptures. There is a tourist information place where u can rent bikes and paddle boards (I believe canoes too but do check). A paddle or canoe trip is mandatory if u like water - take a look at the map to realize how much u can explore in Lake Saimaa! Total: worth a short visit if u r in Lappeenranta.
Lappeenranta is an all time favorite summer city for me and my family. The sandcastles have been more imaginative in the past years, but theyre very well sculpted nevertheless.
It was very nice visiting there with my family. However, it did not take much time. In addition I recommend going fo a walk e.g. around the harbor of Lappeenranta.
Interesting place to visit. Some parts of the castle are better than others - the 2018 version lacked signs for many of the creations and some looked unfinished. Some parts of the sandcastle were yet again breathtakingly beautiful.
Amazing sand sculptures year around, with new motives per year. The craftsmanship on display shows articulate and detailed sand motives of various themes.Unfortunately, not too many sculptures are on display and watching them from up close is prohibited.Nevertheless, a good place to watch the yearly artistry made from sand!
Giant sand sculptures are really impressive.
I loved it!When I was there in 2013 theyve made sand scupltures from the Kalevala folklore! Simply amazing! And in 2014 there was this one honoring Sibelius... pretty neat!
It was a beautiful part of our journey!
