It was too good to Stay at Lanis.Comfy and its good. She has done a 👍
Great space, enough space to hang around. Peaceful place. We rented the cabin which was big enough for a family of 4. It had all the essentials we need in the kitchen.
Great location friendly staff clean amenities awesome sunsets
Amazing place to stay with your fur babies our staffy had a blast
Great place, the children really enjoyed the bikes and E scooters. very family orientated.
Couldnt fault it. Cabin clean. Spa was wonderful which was in my cabin. Clean all around it. Good parking.
Some of the cabins are old need upgrade, also need cement parking spaces not good when raing very muddy, most of park needs upgrade ok for the budget conscious
Brilliant open spaces for camping but watch out for the huge mosquitoes. They will literally pick you up and carry you away.
Very much get what you pay for here. No sheets or towels supplied. Good amenities and pools.
On the second day of our 5 day stay. Its great. Heaps of staff lots to keep kids busy, very clean its great.
This holiday island is one of the best camping islands to go to and I recommend immensely, the island has a great atmosphere in general. One downside that it has no electricity
We are having a wonderful week away from home, staying with our beloved cat in a pet-friendly villa at Lanis Holiday Island. Although I will admit that the bunk beds are right on 180cm long -- so they are a bit cramped for our huge teenager -- I believe they are intended for younger and smaller children, so this is intended more as information than criticism. The surroundings are just wonderful, the location is about 10min by bicycle from Forster, and the staff are super helpful and friendly. Highlights include not one but three swimming pools, including a relatively shallow one for younger children, and a coffee van serving delicious espresso whenever you need it, all day long. For serious bush-bashers, there is an unpowered bush camping area on the adjoining Tonys Point Island. Whether you want to rough it under canvas or prefer the comfort of an air-conditioned cabin, you cant go wrong at Lanis. I highly recommend this location.
I booked cabins and a camping site for evening entertainment and for BBQ. As soon as we would come in the evening to use the camp-site for BBQ a person would come from the management of Lanis Island asking us whether weve booked and paid for the place or not. This happened 3 times, once on the first day and twice on the third day. The management should first confirm in their booking register that a place is booked rather than bothering and humiliating guests who have booked and paid for a site.
Absolutely beautiful place! Staff are so kind and friendly! The place is so clean and tidy. Cabin was kept perfect and everything you need was there. Definitely will be back and definitely will be recommending!
Excellent place for the puppies to play.Quite and well equipped.Everything else is in a 10 minutes drive.8 minutes walking to a major shopping centre with all one would expect.B E A UTIFUL!
Lanis park was nice, great time, went down through back of the park to beautiful view and good fishing, fire, there is a outback kitchen,,the only problem we had the morning we left someone stole our rods,on checking out my daughter told the lady at reception she literally said you sure,lol...oh well,🙂,......Other than that nice place, pools, kids area, semi kitchen and sheltered area to enjoy with friends and family....Two minutes into foster itself,🙂🙂🙂
Eh, a very neutral experience to say the least. Our cabin was advertised as sleeping 4, however once arriving you could quickly see that 4, meant 2 kids 2 adults as the bunk beds were tiny. The cabin was kind of dirty, however not to the extent where i really cared. The aircon did not work, and we were told that we should have called after hours service to fix it, which i wasnt too fussed to do considering it was only a couple day stay.A small oversite on having an extra adult and no linen by myself left me with an extra $70 on arrival, to which i also had to spend extra to buy myself a blanket as the ones provided were essentially just sheets. For what we paid in the end, there is much nicer places in Forster to stay for a short trip. When bringing these small things to staff i was just told "We have much nicer places to stay here, this was a cheaper option".Sure, it may be cheap but i was hopeful for more.Have a good week guys, may return to re-review in future.
Thank you Lanis for an enjoyable and relaxing stay in one of your bungalows. Clean and comfortable and appreciated you going above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay... we will be back 👍.
The "bush camping" is a rip off at $44 per couple (off season). No showers & awful "camp kitchen".In the main campground (closer to the frontthe facilities are better, with good amenities, pools and camp kitchen. The people that run it are nice.
We paid $34 per night for a powered site for two people. The site was a good size and had a concrete pad. It is old park but the amenities are good and clean. Its located close to the shops. The best thing about this place is the big camping area at the back that we walked our dog around.
Chose to camp in the bush at Lanis holiday park. Ample of campsites next to Myall Lake to choose from, first in best dressed. Great spot with many activities to do - fishing, prawning, crabbing for Blue Swimmers and Muddies. Amenties are clean and well maintained. Would definitely visit again.
The first night we stayed the kids were hanging next too our cabin up until 9.30pm at night riding bikes playing and shouting loudly not too mention running in between and around the lodges playing very loudly screaming out too each other playing spotlight. We had been up since 3am the night before travelling down had no idea this happened here. The next night was quieter. Then on the Friday night there was karaoke playing speakers microphone the whole thing going in singing in a foreign language. If I wanted too listen too a night club scene I would go too one. Kids once again running through the gaps if lodges screaming out too each other playing spotlight. We were not advised there was going too be a karaoke event here. It woke me up. No respect for other paying customers here. We should get a refund for the loud disturbance of the music especially when not advised that this event would be occurring. Not happy.
Love this place. Great for families. Cabins, Powered Sites and a whole island to camp on and explore. Boat ramp, Swimming pools, kids playground. Ultimate tourist destination
STAY ELSE WHERE!!!Not worth the 1 star unfortunately!!Recently my wife and I decided to stay at Lanis in one of their "PET FRIENDLY" cabanas for a 2 day get away with our dog. It all looks nice and cosy online BUT, IF YOU ARE LOOKING TOO STAY IN FOSTER, STAY ELSE WHERE.On arrival to our cabana, we opened the door too filthy floors which we had to sweep out before bring any of our gear into the cabana. The bathroom floor contained somebody elses filthy towel, the lounge had dust and pet hair blow every where from it when we sat on it, the WIFI NEVER worked on any of our 3 devices but Smugglers Cove WIFI next door came up everytime, (stay there), its stated that no pets are to be left in cabanas unattended but not the case. 2 barking dogs next door while owners went out for hours. When you book in, its asked if your pet is fully vaccinated etc (ALL WORD OF MOUTH NO PROOF REQUIRED)!!By our second night my wife had large hive like welts down both arms from dust mites etc so required medication to settle reaction. We chose not to bring any of these issues up at the front office in front of new arrivals etc, thinking we were being respectful. How wrong we were!!When we were leaving the cabana to check out, the "cleaner" mentioned to us about the filthy towel we left in the shower, and was informed it must belong to previous lodgers as it wasnt ours. (So much for cleaning after each stay)!!When we got home the welts continued down my wifes arms and over her body, our young toy cavoodle was continually scratching like mad, tearing at his ears and now had worms in his droppings. A healthy dog taken away but we returned home with a sick dog. Our Cavoodle has NEVER scratch or ripped at his ears like he was when we got home. We pulled over on the side of the road for him to stretch his legs etc and he stood in a patch of grass mowing it down like there was no tomorrow and scratching between mouthfuls of grass. So I called Lanis to go through the above issues. I had to wait several days before "THE MANAGER" was on duty to deal with above issues.WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME!! This guy, THE MANAGER, at no time listened to my concerns, but continually had the phrase, "you should have... you should have.." etc well why didnt THEY make sure1. Dog Vaccination are checked, not a verbal.2. Ensure accomodation is cleaned. Not left dirty.3. Accommodation does not contain last peoplesdirty belongings still.4. Dogs not left unattended in accommodation.5. Ensure what they advertise actually works (WIFI&Foxtel.6. When dealing with issues from repeat lodgers, our 3rd stay at Lanis, listen carefully and be respectful to trying to rectify issue and NOT worrying about THEIR bottom line. No form of compensate was offered.I know from this last experience, LANIS will never see the colour of our money again. So consider your options and stay else where to avoid these types of issues that are ultimately left as yours. They simply didnt care. Very disappointed by the so called MANAGERS responses. Appalling business attitude!!
We did bushland camping during Easter long weekend and I would not recommend given the crowd and the type of clientele (i.e. loud music, loud talking during the night, generators running all day). The bushland itself was pretty cool, it does feel off-grid surrounded by water and with only one toilet. Youd have to drive to the showers on mainland which is fine as the amenities were relatively clean for a crowded long weekend, and bonus for hot showers. There have been two incidents that really made our camping experience terrible (but which were eased by the sympathetic staff, merits and our thanks going to Jason the night guard who was fantastic- I think these are not isolated incidents so read below if you had the same experiences and you want to feel validated. My partner and I had set up camp at an idyllic spot with tree shade and river views around midday with approx. respectably 50 meters either side from the nearest neighbour. At 6pm or so, a couple decided to park themselves right next to us and set up camp with 2 meters between our tents. When asked if they could move a little further, they flat out refused. It was then around 10pm when more of their 10+ family members arrived and started setting up camp loudly right next to us, blowing up air mattresses, yelling loudly, generally making a ruckus. Not to mention the loud snoring when they finally bedded down around midnight, because as I remind dear reader, their tent was 2 meters away from ours. I would also remind that even at 10pm, there were plenty of open spaces to accommodate their large group - so we were baffled that they would choose to locate so closely to us.We decided to move away the next morning given the numbers were on their side. As predictable as a villains monologue, the family of offenders immediately moved their tents into our original spot seconds after moving our last piece of gear.I will call out the fact that this family of 10+ is of Pacific islander appearance with a distinctive teepee tent and mesh gazebo - Id only call out these characteristics because if the reader has had the same experience as us, they know that it is the same group (Id caution the reader against making any assumptions / prejudices based on racial, religion or class bias). Our guess is that they are repeat campers and we were unfortunate enough to set up camp at their ""usual spot", so we were effectively forced out by annoyance. The second incident occurred at our "new" spot. A group of 2+ families arrived with young kids adjacent to our site. No dramas until the generators started running and from 5pm, the EDM music started blasting out from their site. Id describe the volume as at a level where youd have to shout pretty loudly to be heard by a person 1 meter away. I know this because when I went over there to ask them to turn it down, thats what I had to do to get myself heard. Id wondered whether the constant generator noise and loud music would affect childrens accoustic development - there was certainly a lot of yelling even during the day but Im not a doctor so what do I know. Our saving grace was Jason the loveliest night guard on the island who was really our knight in shining armour. On our third night, weve had enough with the nightclub next to us and called on the islands security. Jason came to our rescue and flexed some muscle to get them to turn down the volume. Not more than 5 mins after he walked away. the music was turned back up again. But Jason being the gentle persistent soul, returned and clamped down on the law. After much drunken swearing from the adult members of the family due to the foreclosure of their bushland nightclub, the group quietened down around 11pm and sweet sleep overcame us.Jason, you are the true hero and this review is dedicated to you.
Pet friendly cabins available. Warm pool near bbqs, and great location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and good value.
Stayed at one of the the Cabanas [106] for a week, not impressed.Supposed to be the best cabin choice at the park [ the Cabanas] and it was disappointing. Very small to other cabins that we are used to that are supposed to be the better cabins in a caravan park. Glad we didnt stay at a smaller cabin as they looked tiny. The cabins are old and well past their use by date. The potholes in the lane ways of the park need repairing , right though the park the lane ways were full of potholes. The front fly screen door in our cabin didnt lock, the shower leaked and it droves up mad all night with the noise of the dripping water, it wouldnt turn off properly. The stove was old and the markings on the dials was worn off and you didnt know what settings to use, just had to guess what hotplate or oven to light. The lighting mechanism didnt work so you had to use a flick lighter to light the hotplates or the oven. The bottom of the fridge [ the crisper] wasnt cleaned when we arrived. never again. The bed was comfortable, thats why I gave it 2 stars.
We purchased the Simple pleasures Campaign Co Glamping which $640 + $219.20 (entry feeand was It was nothing what we had expected, it was not a glamping experience at all. It was just a big tent with beds and a rug in an over crowded campsite. You would be better off spending the money buying a tent from Kmart and decking it out yourself and going somewhere nicer with less people. There were small holes in the tent so mossies would be able to get in, it was tents next to tents so no privacy at all. We decided not to even bother staying for a night, we pretty much left straight after we checked in. Its not like the pictures that were shown.Cant really say anything great about this place, we didnt end up staying or even sleeping a night at the venue and found other accommodation. Not close to town, mossies everywhere, glorified tent and way over crowded.Do not waste your money, its definitely NOT glamping. Very very disappointed.
I have been a frequent traveller to Lanis over the years however this time, I found it to be in need of a good reno. The shop where kids used to buy lollies, or an ice cream, they used to sell Bait and Ice is no longer available its gone. Kids used to love to get their bike licences to ride around the establishment, that too is gone.Lanis is in need of a good reno for costing close to $900 for three nights, the bunk bed matrresses had no spring in them, they were like sleeping on a concrete slab. The oven was broken and we were told to just ignite the gas oven with a gas lighter no apology. When the service man appeared he turned up in a crumpled shirt doesnt say much for the pride.Dirty stocking socks hung over the blades in the ceiling fans. The sliding doors were dirty.More than anything what got me was one tea towel was supplied We were told to wash and wipe up before vacating. That one dirty tea towel wiped up glasses and plates however the next people vacating at that room would be eating off plates and drinking out of glasses that were dirty wiped up with a dirty tea towel.WIFI was non existent inside the rooms.Again for $880 for 3 nights, youd expect a bit more for your $$Seriously the management of Lanis really needs to carry out some reno on the place and at least put staff in that give a rats!! Wont be coming back to Lanis.
Overall good for a long existing holiday park. Pools were filthy and left uncleaned to any level of hygenity. Couldnt see bottom of pool through a haze. Clumps of hair floating around. Could not smell chlorine. Avoid! One main clean facilities building, meant people driving to the toilet or showers. Dont stay close by, if you want some peace and quiet. Checkin area can get busy, which blocks entrance for existing residents. Can be unsafe.
Great staff and simple but tidy rooms. I loved that it had its own private boat ramp that I could put the boat in each day. Def coming back soon and try out the suburb camping location
The bush camping spots were awesome! Lots of room for friends to camp near you, aswell! The mozzies can be a little annoying! But a can of rid , soon sends them packing!
Absolutely loved it pools are absolutely amazing all 3 of them. Kids pool is ideal for the little ones as well as the park to keep them entertained for hours then you get foxtel with a range of movie for adults or the whole family. Walking distance to the shopping centre. The entire park is just all round the perfect place to get away with the family. And camping the spots to camp is any campers dream.Kind and friendly staff just made our time there alot more comfortable
We camped on the island for 2 nights and loved it! Ample amount of space, facilities very close bye. Hot showers, clean toilets and great pools. We will be back again soon!
My family and I have been coming here for years to camp on The Island. I generally go during off-peak season and have on several occasions had the entire place (almostto myself. The location is amazing, with some of the best sunsets you will see. Also a great place to stargaze, as there is very little light pollution. You can set up a fire and there is always a pile of wood for fuel. The amenities, whilst not luxurious or modern, are adequate.Plenty of shady camping areas available. It can get a bit noisy during holidays, and that isnt policed well at all, but it is what it is.
What a great place to go camping in the heart of Forster, we had a roof top tent so went to Tonys Island which is about 2km from when you drive into the Holiday park so it feels like you are are in a national park, we picked a great spot and because its such a big area you dont have people right next to you, there were a few people having loud parties but management were quick to put a stop to it. And the maintence guy (sorry I cant remember his nameis the nicest guy so helpful and knowledgeable you can tell he enjoys what he does was great having a chat to him :highly recommended place!
Quite a scenic holiday place for families. You can book cabins or camping spots. We went for Tent Camping 🏕 its a delight waking up by the water in the morning, but watch out for the mozzies and flies at night. The soil is very soft and sandy, so peg your tents some extra on windy days. There is no water tap in the camping area, you have to go the common kitchen for water. The local woolies/shops are 2 minutes drive from this place, which is very convenient. There are two pools for adults and kids, and a playground for kids.. do expect them to be very busy during weekends. We camped right next to Sarah and Garys coffee truck and they are such lovely warm couple to meet each morning. Five stars for them both 🌟The camp kitchen has a fridge, microwave and kettle, but your food may get stolen from the fridge. There are always some kids hanging out in that area and we heard they stole and ate the chocolates we kept in the fridge for my husbands birthday surprise 😠 we also met someone who lost their iPhone charger from the kitchen power outlet.I wish the camping spots were a bit spacious and apart from each other, it felts very congested for THAT HIGH PRICE. And also if there were more toilet/shower cubes. There was only one toilet and one shower for the pool-goers and the campers, and most times we had to queue up to use each. And the codes to open the entry/exit gate Almost Never work 👎
Cabins are in much need of a reno. The moment you open the cabin door u smell a stale smell . Peg stuffed in the vent leaver to hold it up. Stockings on the fan blades is never a good look. Bathroom has no locks on the doors and there were 2 doors leading into it. No towels provided Was told the queen bed had linen and only had to byo for the kids beds which they didnt. I had to pay $15 for a queen sheet and 2 towels.Witnessed a domesic fight between the cleaning team in the next cabin telling each other to basically get f#&ked!!!! Lovely during school holidaysThe 2 pools were nice thou .Doubt i would return
Weve been coming bush camping here for many years and love the position away from the rush of life. The owners are terrific and have everything you need. Only thing we are noticing more each visit is a growing trend with a certain culture that have made this spot their own now by blocking and closing the amenities toilet while their family members wash in the sink. They then leave it in a disgraceful mess throughout the amenities, meaning people have to then drive back to the park to use the toilets. This was a topic of discussion from many regular campers how it has changed and felt like you were pushed out. We know these amenities are cleaned daily, though cannot keep up the cleanliness with the amount of people using it this way.
We stayed here for 4 nights. 2 problems1We couldnt have a fire where we were. I even called before we arrived and was told that we could. But when we arrived there was a sign saying no open fires in the park. I went and ask at the office and was told we were given the wrong information and fires are only allowed in bush camping area. The food we brought with us was to be cooked on the fire because thats part of camping. We had to go into town and buy cooking equipment and other food so we could still eat. I dont know why you have camp sites where you cannot have a fire2The first two nights were good but the third night people stay next to us. 2 mornings in a row they woke us up at 5am because they were yelling to each other in their tent with no consideration for anyone around them. It also sounded like there was a goat in their tent at times. They also had a puppy that they were dragging around against its will. A lot of people do not know or dont care about camping etiquette and they spoil it for everyone around them.
Took the family bush camping on the island and would come back if it wasnt so expensive. The money we were charged for a spot of grass and some second rate toilets didnt impress us. Nothing fun for the kids unless you want to drive back to the main park which is too far away for convenience.
Lovely hideaway caravan/camping ground slightly off the Princess Highway. Close to shopping center, well appointed clean cabin next to waters edge, good service and reasonably priced, would definitely go back. Oh and its pet friendly, thats a plus
We camped out in the bushland camping area. Pros: There’s so much room, lots of space between you and other campers and a beautiful outlook. The bathrooms are clean and tidy. And the dogs had the BEST time. It’s super chill you could be in the middle of the Bush, but it’s own 5 mins drive to the supermarket or bottle-o! ;)Cons: SO SO many mosquitos. Got eaten alive. Also you have to drive back into the campsite for showers. The water is NOT drinkable which we found out the hard way! It’s a little pricey at $22 per person for unpowered and no nearby showers.
Lovely, relaxing & clean park with friendly staff and good amenities. The pools are cleaned daily and are a delight to use. To be woken by the sounds of chirping birds who flock to the many grand trees towering throughout the park is a delight. The one and only drawback are the mosquitoes (depending on weatheras the nearer you get to the water the worse they are. However, even taking that into account, we would definitely choose to stay here above all the other parks in the Forster/Tuncurry area.
Nice park, friendly staff. Unfortunately the time we had stayed at the park, we had a bad experience with a camper who wasn’t at all nice. Management were quick to boot him out of the place, which came a little too late for us. He made our holiday a nightmare. We were given a apology, a free nights stay would have been grateful
We booked a non powered camping site on a long weekend during Easter and it was so packed. Like was hard to find a spot People everywhere, it was so noisy at night too, so not a great place to camp of youre looking for tranquility. The lake was filled with rubbish if you want to catch decent fish youll need a boat to go out further. Were sure on a non busy weekend this place would be lovely. It was a bit over priced for two people $200. Weve never paid that much for an unpowered site before. We wont be coming back.
