Unfussy joint offering wings & other tavern fare, plus brunch, drink deals, music & theme nights.
Huge thank you to all of the Landlubber staff that made our Windward farewell party SO special! We really appreciated everything you did for us. The food was delicious and our server Carly was amazing. This is definitely one of my favourite spots in Nanaimo. Great food, drinks, atmosphere, and service every time!
Thank you to the staff and management of the Landlubber for hosting the Windward’s farewell.Carly our server did a rockstar job, serving a table that was booked for 10-12 which grew to 40+ easily, and stayed for many hours. To the kitchen staff, you didn’t miss a beat! Your food production was amazing! I tried your homemade tarter-tots for the first time, all I can say is YUM, and addictive!! I will definitely return. You have a tucked in gem of a establishment that houses an amazing local pub atmosphere.I can’t thank you enough for letting our regulars say goodbye to us in the proper way. Your hospitality didn’t go unrecognized!!
Omg great pub food!Ordered a side of tiger prawns and was blown away.
Wish I could! Went in for something to eat, sat for over 10 minutes, and not even an acknowledgement of our existence! And no, it was not busy. Maybe they only prefer to serve regulars? Just. Wow.
Stopped in for dinner/drinks while visiting from out of town - nice classic interior, friendly attentive staff, and a surprisingly adventurous guest tap (was *not* expecting to find a stone fruit sour on tap at an old school pub)Appreciated their beer and bites combo (beer + 1/2 sized appiethat let us try out a few different things, like the homemade tater tots and onion rings*, which were both A+. The burgers were very good as well.*Im not sure if they gave us a full sized serving of onion rings by mistake, or their "regular" serving is enormous, but it was a lot of onion rings for a half order...not that we were complaining!
I used to love the wings at the lubber but they changed the batter on the wings and my heart/ taste buds are upset! Still love the location and staff.
Delicious. You gotta try the tater tots. So many wing flavors definitely going back again.
The food is delicious! The spinach and artichoke bread bowl is spectacular, and the options of wing flavors is awesome!
Good food. Great service. Wings are killer. Lots of flavors
Lovely pub I often stop here on the way back to Vancouver via bc ferry’s there’s a free pool table and dart board inside always goes down well with a pint or 2 food is lovely too highly recommend trying the jack Daniels burger gorgeous burger good size portion of chips (frieswith it too
ordered these wings for pickup, I was at the pub 15 minutes later and wings were inedible. Never again
The most amazing beef dip and music poker was lots of fun.
I was going to leave a great review cuz Ive been going here for 6 years and love the wing deals and specials and such. But now youve changed your wing specials from $10.95 to $13.95! And whats worse youve made restrictions on hours to be able to take advantage of such a "great deal"...?! Yes, i realize prices have gone up. Im not living under a rock. Theyve gone up everywhere. But if thats going to be the case, then customers cant afford to come out at all anymore. And dont even try to compare what I equate a pub to groceries. I have no choice but to buy groceries. I have a CHOICE to go out to a pub. Its a nice luxury that I cant afford if your prices go up prohibitively. I hope the additional $3 and more restricted hours on when wing night is accessible helps you make ends "meat"...instead of keeping it low and having more bodies in the pub, youll now have higher prices and less people..you do the math. Does that make cents to you...?I hope you lose MORE customers, cuz youve definitely lost us! a bunch of us always went there now we wont be. Loyal until this.
Had a traditional BLT- was as expected. My other table mates were more adventurous- the burger was huge and looked delicious!
Great beers! Awesome food!
Wednesdays are wing nights at the Landlubber Pub. I opted out of that choice since I was watching my calories...again 😏I chose the fish tacos and a salad, since I have recently took a liking to them. To my disappointment, it was not as good as my last two experiences. The fish was very bland, and the fixings were basically the same stuff from my boring salad. The salad looked like bagged salad from the grocery store, with tiny chopped up tomatoes..Boring.I didnt finish it.I was sitting there trying to get through my not so good dinner choice and my company were making noises, mmmm, yummy...sigh I should have gotten wings, they sounded like they were delicious.Tip: if you go for wings, try getting there early, we got there at 5:30 and got the last table. There was a lineup when we left.
Omg...we all loved it there. Went for dinner and the food was awesome. Cant wait to go back 😊
Not an establishment we visit often. We just decided one afternoon to drop in for a Beer and a bite. I had an IPA and she had the Pilsner, we shared the Poutine the gravy is awesome. You never know after we visit during Spring and we actually eat a meal, I could be back and add a star.😎
This little pub does not disappoint! Friendly staff, great food and extremely clean premises. We will return again to support this family based business.
Excellent spot to get some excellent food! Very friendly staff. Very clean, well maintained, and comfortable pub atmosphere! Delicious poutine and tater tots!Note- unvaccinated ppl not welcome here.
I cant believe Im giving my favorite Pub in Nanaimo a one star. Im doing this to hopefully make them aware the importance of not serving intoxicated patrons. My son was completely inebriated when I picked him up and couldnt even walk on his own. If your establishment is responsible for over serving your patrons it is your responsibility to make sure they get home safe. If he was left to walk home in the snow and heaven forbid passed out liability would rest on you. Please make your servers more aware and to cut people off when they are sluring and staggering around in your pub..thank you. Still love you but please be more strict.
Worst chicken wings ever. What kind of pub charges $18 for Sysco-precooked wings, which they just call “double fried”.Me and friend just wasted our money on two baskets of wings. Very bland, the inside of the wings were pure white. All dry and crackly just not good. Exactly the same as the The Welling pub’s wings. Makes me think the same supplier of pre-cooked “double fried” wings.Really just offer less choices but better wings, never worth $18 for that, cmon. 7-11 does better wings. Yours weren’t juicy whatsoever.
Weve eaten here before and the both times the food was excellent. Not sure what happened this time. We ordered take-out fish tacos and fries. The tacos were about as bland as fish can get - not hint of any kind of seasoning. The coleslaw was just shredded coleslaw mix without any dressing. On the upside the tacos were a generous size and the salsa topping was good hence the two stars. Will still order from but will definitely avoid the fish tacos in future.
Andrew and his whole team are just the best. The staff love their jobs, the food is fantastic and the new patio is exceptional. We frequently buy lunch here or stop over after work. 5 gold stars for this establishment!
Bradley McCrea has no hair on his head. I really enjoy this place and understand that independent restaurants have struggled over the past 17 months - If the ownership was making a killing through the pandemic, why would they be frustrated with staff shortages? Grown men named Bradley are the problem with the Nanaimo area, not the frustrations of independent businesses. Grow up nerd.
Had the most amazing tater tots some time ago, and would come back again! But, that is not what Im here to talk about: lets talk about "the sign". Its come to light that some folks dont like the light humour that Andrew, the owner, wanted to convey while looking to hire new staff. What some people decided to do was berate him based in wild assumptions about how his alleged underpaying of his staff; you could not be more wrong, naive internet police. Based on sources which I cannot name, the staff who work at The Landlubber make well over the minimum wage AND receive extended benefits. So, the next time you decide to ride the internet waves of hate try to see it from the point of view of the person who wrote "the sign" before you decide to call them names youd never say in person to their face.
Decent food, fair prices, good service. Never had a problem here until they (well, presumably the owner or managementhad the gall to post "free rides almost over, apply within" on thier message board outside, in response to the lack of availabile service staff following Covid 19 and CERB benefits. Frankly, if your business model depends on paying people less than unemployment subsidies, you dont deserve to be in business at all. Its a tasteless move at best, and a downright insulting move at worst to all the former service staff who took the chance CERB provided to move away from that thankless industry. Absolutely shameful behaviour and I will never take my business there again.
It was a bit loud for me, but the food was good, the “home made tater totes” are really good, as are their onion rings! Everything else was good but not as notable!
This is a nice pub the servers are great Cayleigh was our server let us switch tables to wherever we wanted and was very attentive with a full bar I would definitely go back the wings were sooo good 😋
I have been here several times and it never disappoints. They have the best selection of wing flavors in Nanaimo. Both the service and the food have been great everytime.
Best Wings in Nanaimo! The landlubber has great service, great food and great prices. Would definitely recommend.
Great staff. Atmosphere is alive and in my well seasoned opinion great food. If you are new to the city you have to try this Pub.
Ive been coming here for years. Cool little areas to break up the crowd a little. Plenty of tvs for sports.Food is great. Wings on special are great value and tonnes of flavours. Burgers are ok. Tater tots are gold!Staff are usually quick and friendly.Gets really busy at times.New outdoor area is great. Only downside is traffic noise. But its not a big deal really.
Great food, great service, fun atmosphere. Wish they had a few more craft brews on tap, but overall a terrific watering hole.
Had an issue with a delivery on DoorDash where $20 of drinks were forgotten. Turns out it was on the driver, and the restaurant went the extra mile to deliver me them the next day. Super impressed with your customer service. The food was great as well :)
Patio was nice - theres nothing more they can do about the traffic noise, so its a bit loud. The wings were nicely cooked but I wouldnt recommend the Maple Bacon flavor. Its a powdered seasoning instead of actual maple or bacon. 24 hours and dozens of hand-washings later, my hands still smell like artificial maple flavor! Yuck!
Outstanding service, great burger. We went for wings and they were so, so. Obviously pre-cooked for wing night and then warmed up in fryer made to order. Very common but makes for hard over cooked wings almost every time. Will not have again. After so long Im surprised restaurants do this and they still dont it right. Best wings are cooked from raw first time around and retain some moisture in the meat.
Best pub food I have ever had!...couldnt ask for more beautiful people to serve you in a happy and inviting environment. My upmost respect for all the employees for working so hard to keep people at their happiest in these hard times! You rock girls!...kitchen staff just as much appreciation. Thank you all for helping nanaimo feel a bit of normal and fun in our lives! Hope we as customers can all make you feel proud and happy to be doing such an amazing job! Thx always and keep safe!!
Clean everywhere, even the bathroomsFood was SO good!!Best chowder ever, cod wrap was amazing...chill place
My favourite pub in Nanaimo for wings and blue buck. They have a variety of flavours, and do not cheap out on the sauce. Their wing nights are Wed-sat right now, and have a golf night Thursday for you collared gents. Go here for good pub food, reasonable prices and saucy wangs.
We sat down for a few beers and play to pick of music trivia which even though I didnt win was still a good time. The food here is pretty darn good to we had wings and a few other appetizers, which turned out to be a little bit better than your average pub food.
What a great flavour selection of wings available, but too bad that they are so over cooked. Doing a great job of distancing patrons bit not is well on the hygiene. Table coming on was not cleaned and I didnt once see the waitresses cleaning or wearing masks.
First time there, walked in at 19, barely anyone there, but that didnt stop people from staring at me, like Im not suppose to be there. the bartender looked at me weird, when she saw my ID. Had only a couple shots and the bartender refused to serve me more unless I got something to eat, basically forced me. I thought it was rude, and unnecessary, but I wanted to try their food anyway. Just not that soon. Looked at the menu, everything was overpriced, even the small quantity items.Ended up getting a single burrito for $15 bucks, (I could have gotten a decent size pizza for that price! It looked good. I was surprised how much different things they were able to put in one burrito. I took one bite and it tasted like NOTHING, which was very disappointing for something that looked so good. The whole thing was drenched in the liquid based chipotle sauce that destroyed all flavor from it.After finishing it, I ordered a couple more drinks while they continued to treat me like a complete child! The atmosphere was very depressing and was sick of the way I was being treated. So I left. Most likely wont come back!!
Of course their wings are number one on my list. Always tasty with a great selection of flavors. Typically pretty busy here, so come early to get a seat. Beer selection is mediocre. Would love to see more local drinks on tap. Friendly staff.
We stopped in on a busy Friday night of the Thanksgiving long weekend. The only reason that service was a little slow, was because the place was packed. Reasonably so, as the food was excellent. I had the Korean BBQ noodle dish which was fantastic and my sweetheart had the steak sandwich which was also very good. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly. Plenty of parking and easy to find.
Best wings ever! Had to have every flavor. 🍽🍺 played Music Poker and had a winner at our table 🍹🍷🍸had soooo much fun 🤣
We had wings and drinks at the Landlubber Pub. There are so many wing flavours it was hard to choose. We went on a Saturday evening and they have a super fun game called music poker! It was an unexpected surprise that our table loved! Food, drinks and service were all fantastic.
I had the two piece fish and chips. It was a fair price but the first piece was definitely better than the second. I could taste the waterlogged bits as it was definitely previously frozen. The batter had dill in it which was nice and the battered fries were great. Also, the server was lovely.
Worst experience ever. First brought out a ceasar that was brown. Than nachos that literally were microwaved for maybe 2 seconds. Waitress was nice at least.
The food is great! Love the variety of sauces for wings, which are delicious. My favorites are the Peanut Butter dog and the Hail Ceaser Chicken burger. Awesome beer selection and service. Highly recommend to stop in and check it out!
