Laksa King - Asian restaurant in Cheltenham, Australia
Great bowl of laksa and quite a large serving. The only thing I felt that was missing was some more bean shoots (wasn’t much in the bowlto add a bit more texture. The roti was a bit on the thick side and not as fluffy but the curry sauce was on point.
Plenty of options in the menu with a fast turnover quality in the middle range.
The meat especially the beef tastes like fake meat. And, too much MSG. Super thirsty after the meal.
***Food Poisoning ***Such a shame, this used to be a our go to weekly eat with the family, it’s gone completely down hill. It’s now dirty, no care for personal hygiene, black thick hair was found on-top of my daughters soup and was taken back to be simply plucked out and tried to be reserved. My wife on the other hand had the seafood laksa, 6 hours passed to be greeted with a severe case of food poisoning, 8 hours on the drip in hospital. Seriously disappointed.Clean up your act!
Very clean, had the chicken soup, rice curry with beef and peking duck dumplings.Nice thing, there are robot servants!
its nice food but if you are going to charge a sunday surcharge I am not going to eat here. What is better having a sale or getting an extra $10.00. We went to a place that does not have a weekend surcharge
Their web page shows its open seven days a week with a schedule, but went there (Tuesday)12pm 20/9/22 and it was dark and closed. This is not good, I seem to be being teased.
I was in Heaven. Ive been in Kuala Lumpur and penang once, and the food reminds me my country, many sauces and strong flavours. The roti chanai is so nice, and all the curries and amazing, generous and yummy. Try the sea food and roast duck curry laksa. Feels weird the robot services, but well...
They serve generous portions, but there is huge wait time. We waited for 40+ mins for 1 laksa.
We came back as last time it was a nice meal. Not this time, food has taken a dive. I had the curry laksa, broth was thin and tasted like a packet mix, only 3 small pieces of tofu, 2 pieces of broccoli, 3 cauliflower, 4 pieces of carrot which was unpeeled and didnt look like it had been washed. Lots of noodles but little else. Very disappointed . Curry puffs were oily and over cooked, my sons dish looked like they had used frozen veg, was watery and tasted average. Will not come back.
Trying to find a healthy savoury Curry Laksa, and this one is not bad for a Vegetarian Dish, for $16.80. I would have liked to have seen some Bean Shoots/ Snow Peas/ Baby Corn/Red Capsicum, as it looks great from the top view, but I personally would really love more variety of Vegetables, considering the majority of the Meal is Noodles. Tofu was scrumptious, but needed more than 3 small pieces, also not a lot of Carrot included. Please add more Vegetables for those who are Vegetarian. Otherwise, loved the flavour and will go back again. The Robot delivery is a great idea for less Man handling during Covid times, re the # of people who touch your plate.
great tasting laksa, prices half decent and a little robot to bring out your food4.5 stars
We often go to movies at Southland so have stopped here post movies many times. We love the lychee drink. The prawn dumpling soup is always a winner. The roti roll is very big & yummy and my sons often like this. The Malaysian beef curry/chicken curry with the egg and rice is a nice traditional dish. Service is always fast and on point. The spring rolls, satay chicken & dumplings are also enjoyable
First time trying the food here, and will never come back. The laksa broth wasn’t creamy and rich enough, and it tasted a bit artificial. The Hainanese chicken was alright, but the side dishes were a bit strange.
We used to love this place, fantastic food & efficient service but venue has seriously gone downhill ...ordering & paying for food & drinks via the QR app at the table? At the "robot" bringing the food? And app asking if you want to add a "tip"?No thanks, no one to clear dirty dishes, to check if you have everything you need?Dont think we will be back in a hurry....
There isn`t enough stars on here for this place. They got robots delivering your food and its sooo good. I had the Peking duck buns ohhhh they are so soft and tasty, we also had the seafood laksa there were so much filling in it, The Satay roti was smooth and tasty, and the hainan chicken really hit the spot. Owner keep up the good work.
Ordered the chicken ribs and rice and when it came out, you can tell the rice was old as it was so dry, clumped together and hard. It was so obvious and couldnt believe the chef dishing the plate would even let it pass. I advised the staff and was given coconut rice instead. You also charged 10% surcharge on Sunday but we have to scan the QR, look at the menu from our phone and pay from there too. And you have a robot serving the food. Really cheapens the whole eating out experience.Compared to Laksa King at Glen Waverley, the customer service and food standard here is really poor compared to them where you actually have a nice dining experience.
The chicken laksa was great. Tasty, hot enough, and perfect texture. I would have liked a bit more veggies, but it was good as it was too.
Quality was good as usual. The chicken curry flavour was hotter than normal.
The Best laksa in south east Melbourne. Giving 5 star 🌟 rating for their best quality food with full of flavour & great service. Beautiful looking restaurant and amazing chefs.Thank you for your delicious dishes😋
Very poor admin. They say that they close at 8.45pm.We were there by 7.50pm. There were people before us too waiting. One of their employees said that they are closed for dine in. But, they could only do take away. So, we left.Later on we thought getting take away and came back there at 8.10pm. There was another employee letting people in for dining. It was really frustrating 😤.
Laksa king Southland was one of my favourite restaurants earlier but now they have ruined the whole experience by using “Order & Pay” at the start using QR code. It totally takes the fun out of eating out. On top of that I was totally disappointed to find that they have taken out “Nasi Goreng” from the menu. It was one of my favourites.
Used to be good - I think there is a recent change of staff and cooks. There used to be a few good hawker style dishes like mee goreng but is no longer on the menu. It’s a shame as it’s very local to us but the other food on the menu is only average… including the laksa.
New review: food hasnt suffered but please hire more staff, change the strobing lightbulbs. No table service and robots replacing humans really cheapens the experience :(((Old review: Consistently delicious and not expensive. Efficient service and a nice atmosphere.
Yummy food. But 10% surcharge on Sundays? and you have a robot delivering food so youre paying less wages anyway. come on!
The laksa here is truly spectacular. The quality, flavours and quantity is up there with the best. Im super surprised at the amount of chicken they put in the laksa, its fantastic! Very good value. Staff are friendly also and the restaurant is very nicely decorated and spacious. 🤩
Delicious food with generous portions. Food came out pretty fast. Staff are friendly and attentive.
We have tried their food several times and really like it.The robots that deliver the food to the table are also amazing :-PThe staff are also kind and welcoming.I highly recommend it!
Very yummy! Had a good time, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing! The robot servers was a joy to watch!
good enough for the laksa, the size and price was fine with us as we had it for lunch was extremely busy as it was a shopping day on the Sunday and the line to eat it was long but manage by end. had a robot who brings the food to our table and staff had mask on as required. beside this it was a nice experience to eat it while doing some shopping for the day.
Super tasty with generous serves and friendly / helpful staff, a nice place for a meal and a chat.
Laksa King is a fantastic chain of restaurants that does some amazing Malaysian food, especially the chicken curry and beef rendang. Quality flavors and pricing is perfect..Not difficult difficult to love themThis ones inside the Southland shopping mall and it very easy to locate.Just a fascinating fact about this place, sometimes they serve tables with their orders through a robot.
Great selection of asian meals inside Southland shopping centre, opposite Village cinema. Their Laksa is great. Clean environment.
One of the best place.❤love the bbq and laksa 🍜 ..❤🤟
DO NOT Get the Prawn Noodle Dumpling Soup! i asked to remove this dish from the bill as I did not eat it, but they refused and made me pay. This place is ONLY known for their good Laksa.
Pleasantly surprised to find a Laksa King at Westfield Southland. Located in the row of restaurants by the movie theatre it was certainly a treat. Ordered the Laksa with fish fillets, Laksa with chicken and the dumplings noodles. The Laksa broth itself was very rich. A little too rich from the coconut but do ask for the sambal to cut through the richness and bring more spice to the flavour. It was perfect with the sambal.Fish fillet was more than expected and cooked to perfection. The dumpling broth however was over salty. Should have returned it but...Overall I hope they keep up the serving portions. Looking forward to try other dishes in the future.
I had the Laksa Seafood while my mate had the Char kway teow. My laksa was rich, creamy and coconut flavoured. The seafood pieces were generous and chunky; fish fillet, prawns, squid and scallops. The bowl is massive that you won’t need any entree or desserts. Wasn’t that spicy, mild at best. No complaints from my mate’s meal although it was more spicy. Great representation of Malaysia’s signature dish.
Quality food, quality service, comfortable seating, everything was great!!I had a big bowl of chicken curry laksa, as someone who does not normally order laksa I was amazed at the size of the bowl (perhaps I need to get used to this!). The flavour was so aromatic and quite a decent amount of chicken was given, I was very full at the end and took some home for leftovers.Service was friendly and prompt, there was no wait to order our food and get attention. Very pleased with how we were accommodated for.Loved the ice cream dessert with the fruit, so simple and yet such a great way to top off a spicy meal.
Tried their laksa king in flemington feel really good so I ordered this today from southland shopping center. Bit disappointed they don’t have the purple cauliflower like they advertise on their DoorDash app and the take away method is different from the shop in fleminton. Though it still tasty but it charge more than the other shop and don’t have better quality even worse so I think next time I will just go to the other store instead this one.
One of the best Laksa ever had at Melbourne. Had sea food $ veg laksa, both worth the price 💯 Spring roll was better and customer service 9/10.
Love the Laksa, Naasi Goreng and Hainan chicken rice. Service is excellent. Very reasonably priced.
Laksa King Kitchen, The taste of Malaysia, has outlets in four areas of Melbourne. Their signature dish, as the name suggests, is Laksa, a bowl of spicy noodle soup. We tried the seafood version and it was delicious. We also really enjoyed several entreé dishes as they arrived at the table piping hot and were very tasty.
A fair take on char kway teow with generous portions of fresh tasting seafood. Was on their specials menu, but they have plenty of dishes on their regular menu to warrant a revisit anytime there is a craving for a tasty Malaysian meal.
Great Malaysian food with Roti n Satay my fav , very tastyThen we had mee gorang yum yumWith prawns ,chicken and sproutsTo finish we had tea terik, hot of courseImmensely enjoyed
Quick service. Attentive serving staff. Tried Chicken satay and Nasi lemak. Tasty food but could be a little bit more traditional...chicken satay was fried instead of grilled, nice peanut sauce. For the nasi lemak, the sambal was a little dry and not generous enough, the accompanying beef and chicken curry was good.
The portions of laksa here are huge and sooo filling and delicious. The service is brusk and speedy but its a place that is a high turnover and eat and run place so dont expect great service. Its a great place to Pop into before or after your movie starts will definately be there again
The best place were i was enjoying my food. A bit expensive for me but worth it. Roti chanai is my favourite.
Laksa king is one of the best for laksa, creamy spicy and an absolute explosion of flavour. Only other place i know to get a decent laksa is stirfryd in patterson lakes which is just a bit creamier which i prefer. The truffle duck fried rice in laksa king is also one of my go tos
Better than expected from this food court/restaurant style Asian eating house. Well fitted out, good service and above average food which comes in large serves. Perfect for a meal before the movies - cheap and cheerful but also good quality.
Didnt mind the seafood laksa or the nasi lemak here. Not sure if affiliated with laksa king itself.. anyhoo for shopping centre food it was pretty decent. The seafood laksa had a good amount of seafood .. and the soup base was yum. The nasi lemak... I thought was ok only. WIR? Yeah its not bad if ur after alternatives for choice ..
