Lake Olathe Swim Beach - Beach pavillion in Lenexa, United States
Relaxing, family friendly, clean. The floating obstacle course was great. Prices were great. Being able to rent chairs was the best! Such a great time with my kids!
This is a surprisingly nice facility on the eastern shore of Lake Olathe. The buildings are clearly new, attractive and nice. The sand beach is surprisingly good. The watercraft is good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The array of floating slides and obstacles is impressive. We rented kayaks and explored the lake. We all had a good time and look forward to returning next summer.
Want to Canoe or kayak? How about just lay on the sand and soak up a little sun. Well your "Not in Kansas Anymore" when you visit "Lake Olathe Swim Beach". Their many things to do from paddle boats and water obstacles. If your having beach withdrawal and need a little getaway then Lake Olathe Swim Beach is for you and your family.
No lost and found. Just throw items away if you leave something behind. :(
The floating water park is a kid favorite!
It was fun. We went with our 5 kids, all of them 7 and under. There was something for all of them to do and they had a blast. I love that they can play with the sand and with water guns. Cant do that at the public pool. The only thing lacking is that the beach is pretty small and fills up very quickly; and the amount of people can make it pretty hard to enjoy time with the family.
Great place to paddleboard, kayak, spend time on the beach. Affordable, clean and family friendly.
We loved the water park and lake.
Small but has everything you need to have a great day at the beach.
Great family fun and experience. Dont forget water, umbrella and your swim shoes.
Beautiful place to go with children
Very fun 😄
Visited the park and "hiked" on the trails. It was fun to be out in nature. Good views and quite.
Great Place! Plunge was Great!
They tried, but the sand is too sharp. I think they used sand from a sand box for the beach. Its kinda sad how small the beach area is honestly. In honesty though, the kids thought it was cool as can be.
I discovered this beach this year. This is now my local go to beach. I love that inflatables are allowed. The reason I go to a lake is to float on my air mat. The price is reasonable. I havent used the food truck, but it is nice that its available. The lifeguards are attentive. Lockers are available. Bring a lock. I wish there was more nearby parking. It is a 25 minute drive, for me, but well worth it.
Had a great time. Inflatables were alot of fun.
Water was pretty murky, but clearly the beach is well maintained. I have 4 kids 6 and under and they all had a great time. My mom and soulmate went on a nice canoe adventure. The whole family had a great time!
Nice change of pace. Swimming, boating, and a water jungle gym. Only disappointment was that they would let you swim out very far and for addult the deepest was shoulder high standing.
The beach is okay, but the aqua park was loved by all!
Great place for kids of all ages. Fun inflatable area with a blob for launching your friends/kids into the water, slides, a swing and other obstacles.
Great place to spend the day...so much to offer...
The beach was great! Olathe park is always clean and beautiful. I was glad to see how seriously the staff takes safety there, and the life guards were always watching. It is a little pricy for how small the beach is, but overall its a very nice place to picnic.
A good spot to spend a sunny afternoon. The kids spent time in the water, on the beach, on the inflatable obstaclr course, and paddle boarding. The bonus was the jets from the air show were always over us.
The swim beach is expensive but has lots of fun activities. Its worth the trip. ☺️
Great. Clean easy in and out. Areas to change, lockers available.
Nice! Went to use the solar EV charge.
Pretty, well-maintained part with trails and venues.
The updated areas are amazing
Great place. We loved the floating aqua park. Nice staff as well.
I really love that prices for paddle boarding and kayaking it is more than a fair price for a great experience. The only downfall of the area is the beach swimming area is pretty small. Not much space for the actual swimming part which is unfortunate since its such a large beautiful space. Though, its over a great lil in town get away.
Had a great afternoon kayaking! Beautiful scenery! Will return
Its open, peaceful and the kids love the splash park.
They have an awesome beach with a really fun water obstacle course.
Wonderful experience! I tried the kayak with my daughter and family. We were happy we even made it. Its a bit complicated to make reservations if you dont have already all the information in the system. With a little patience we made it before all spots were taken. Everything its clean and neat. I cant wait to play in the water park. The swimming wasnt out favorite. Its was very muddy and a snake came close to us. I think the beach is for little kids to play with the sand, and not to swim in there.
Overall a fun time! Be advised, the entrance from Santa Fe Street (at Ward Cliff Driveis VERY poorly marked...as in NOT MARKED. You have to be ready for it. The beach area is not huge, but clean, and overall quite shallow. There are plenty of lifeguards on duty, particularly stationed around all parts of the inflatables (super fun). Theres a good amount/selection of kayaks (single or double), paddleboards and peddle boats. At $5 for a half hour per water craft (yes, a 2-man kayak is still only $5including a good quality life jacket, its a good value - but be aware, you DO have to pay admission to the beach (at least this summer during Covidto have access to the marina. Water craft rental is IN ADDITION to your beach admission. So, for a family of four, its not a cheap outing.
Loved the reservations to keep the number of people low. Nice beach. Kids had a great time!
Beautiful park with great views and plenty to keep busy. Excited for the swim beach to open this year and take out a paddle boat.
Great little spot for kayaking. Although its kind of irritating that you have to pay for the beach when youre just renting a kayak. But its only $5 on top of the rental cost, so its not that big of a deal 🤷🏼♀️
They have great walking trails.
Nice upgrades to the park, but not quite finished. I will return to enjoy more this fall. It would be nice to have food and drink vendors incorporated into the upgrades.
I have never swam here but the lake is a beautiful place. They have alot of different things you can do as well as swimming.
Slightly expensive and the beach wasn’t the best but the water was cool and activities were abundant
saw a large shark in the water eating out of a dumpster. the surf was to rough and the life guards needed to be on a diet. i thought this was one of the top beaches in yhe USA?
Very nice facility, knowledge and helpful younger staff, plenty of lifeguards. Great job Olathe!! Would be nice to have an adult only area at the beach. Need a few more water crafts.
Really like what they have done out there. The beach area with inflatables looks like alot of fun. We took our kayak out and had fun cruising around the lake.
Fun beach with lots to do! The entrance fee is a little expensive, so you want to make sure to spend time. Everything is newly updated and clean.
This beach is small and over priced. They charge $7 to get in and $10 for every 30 mins to use the inflated playground. The water is gross and seashore was slimy with tons of rocks, branches, and glass. I would not recommend this beach until they clean the floor of the beach area.
They never dredged the beach/swim area. We found glass at the bottom and a fishing hook. Water wasnt clean...id rather go to Kill Creek Swim area...much nicer. Too many rules from lifeguards that were judging people and not a big area to swim. Someone broke the sink in one of the restrooms and got cut up. One person we were with got cut on glass. Not too safe.
Had a fun time but I was very surprised that the swimming area and beach was so small. From the beach to bouys is probably 25 feet. It never gets deeper than 5 feet. It is maybe 150-200 feet across. Not a lot of room to swim around when it is busy. I didnt use the marina which is right next to the swimming beach or the obstacle course. $7 to see at the beach.
