Amazing weather. Huge beautiful lake which is home of thousands of hippos with crescent island full of herbivores & campig site is so nice with more than 200 species of birds. Fisherman’s camp is very nice with a restaurant with good food. Amazing experience.
MoreGreat boat ride with sightings of beautiful birds and hippos.
Fantastic place with friendly animals and birds
Most wonderful lake In nakuru County that I have seen. It has an island in the lake where I saw animals from the boat. Gazelles, zebras etc....One can also go on the island to see more. I Also saw lots of hipppo in the water and also on the shore. As for those who are interested in watching birds, this is the best place for that too, I saw many types of birds while boating but there is a resort on the shores of the lake where one can see hundreds of birds species. I got live fish direct from the fishing boat, at reasonable price.Recommended entrance for boating in this lake is hippo point. No entry fees. Only boating charges which are quite fare also.
MoreSerene! 😍Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in Kenya, outside the town of Naivasha in Nakuru County, which lies north west of Nairobi. It is part of the Great Rift Valley. The name derives from the local Maasai name Naiposha, meaning "rough water" because of the sudden storms which can arise. The lake is surrounded by a few resorts, campsites, and hotels to give tourists a chance to experience a stay at the lakeside. What is Lake Naivasha famous for you may ask?Lake Naivasha is famous for its strong populations of hippos and flamingos. There are over 1,500 hippos in the area, and you are almost guaranteed to see one. The lake is a birders paradise as it is home to over 400 bird species.A drop of some history...The lake was formed approximately 2-3 million years ago due to faulting and subsequent damming of the Valencia River. The lake has been completely dry during several discrete periods of its geologic history.
MoreThe welcoming zebras and giraffes by the lakeside will just warm your heart. The boat ride to the 400 and 200 acre islands surrounded by the friendly hippos is awesome. I loved the experience.
MoreNice place to visit with your family and friends

What are your weekend plans!? If travel is your escape, then the tranquil waters of lake Naivasha are warm and welcome.

MoreThe lake is scenic and peaceful. There are a variety of flora and fauna and its a great boating trip. Definitely take a camera along and beware of the hippos.
MoreLake Naivasha is home to many animals and different species of birds. It is a birders dream with around 400 species of birds such as the African Fish Eagle, Saddle billed Stork, Jacana, Greater and Lesser Flamingo’s, Laughing Dove, Dideric Cuckoo, Eurasian Nightjar, Hadada Ibis and the Gray Crowned Crane to name but a few. Zebra, Giraffe, Antelope, Water Buffalo, Warthog, Monkeys and the Hippopotamus are also found here. Canoeing around the lake is a great way to see the wildlife. The lake is almost 13kms across and is part of the Great Rift Valley. The late Joy Adamson who was the author of Born Free lived in Elsamere Lodge located on the banks of the lake. The Fishermen here at Lake Naivasha use handmade boats and fishing nets and mainly fish for Carp. There are many different tree species and flowering plants surrounding the lake in this rich eco system. Papyrus are important to the lake as it filters sediment and adds nutrients so play a key role in the eco system of the lake, This area is famous for growing roses in big greenhouses for the overseas market. It’s a great place to go for nice walks, see plenty of nature and to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Early humans came from this area. Human teeth have been found on an archeological site in the Naivasha area dating back 250,000 years. Only 35 kilometres away is Hells Gate National Park there are obsidian mines where early humans mined for the volcanic glass to make early tools. It’s a beautiful and interesting area.

MoreHas lots of birds and hippos. Should go deep in the lake to witness what I saw, a huge number of birds just going about their day. Amazing.
MoreA lot of birds especially storks that walk beside you can be seen. The plastic litter is a put off though. One can take the private boat ride for $30 or public for a bit cheaper. Birding can be enjoyed here.
MoreOne of the best lakes in Kenya, with varieties of birds & animals. A lot of campsites & hotels are nearby to stay. Staying overnight & boating in the lake is highly recommended.Hellsgate National park & Longonot National Park are nearby & can be visited.
