Laico Atlantic Banjul in Banjul
Description
Cozy and relaxing place, staff is very friendly
This is the new office complex for the Ministry of Defence of the republic of The Gambia.
MoreIts a nice place
Definitely NOT a 4-star hotel and definitely not value for money. No menus. The (no choicebreakfast they did serve below par. Very very limited choice at the beach bar. No hot water or power or aircon for days on end. And requests to fix it were ignored. Waiter upset because I did not want to go for a walk on the beach.
MoreUnfortunatelly the only hotel in Banjul with a pool as far as i know, otherwise i wouldnt stay there. So called food is horrible, you better eat outside for the half of the money.
Kolejki do jedzenia.
MoreThis place is awesome
Terrible...
Jak na warunki w Gambi, ładny hotel. Pokoje OK, basen przestronny, hotel z wyjściem na plażę. Pokoje codziennie sprzątane i wymieniane ręczniki. Ale to Afryka, my mamy zegarki a oni czas.
MoreFood and Hospitality is Good
The food is not good.
Personeel is erg autoritair.
MoreGreat pool, staff
Quite serene and lovely. Has a beautiful and long beachfront. Internet isnt very great, and their offering of local foods was limited.
MorePlace is old but its clean and close from city. Nice beach. Good stuff and food.
Charge breakfast extra for hot chocolate
It is ok for two or three nights, but not for longer. The pool is ok. There is also a possibility to play billiards and table tennis. Located in the city center of Banjul. From the hotel you can reach the ferry and Albert Market on foot.
MoreAmazingly friendly staff, an excellent pool area leading to a clean beach
Staying at the Laicos Atlantic Hotel was rather nostalgic in the simplest of ways. Its practically a resort with the attachment to the beach. Loved the swimming pool, playing table tennis (aka ping pongand beach volleyball. My only real issue staying here was the mosquitoes. Dont know if it was the time of year or poor maintenance but the buggers were everywhere and almost made my stay unpleasant. Beyond that, I loved staying here
MoreSupplies of food and drinks keep running out.
Very nice hotel.
Was here in november 2018.Terrible Wi-Fi network, no stable connection, not in room, not near reception, not on the beach, impossible to work remotely and solve important problems without non-cheap telephone connection. There was no water for 24 hours(and once again after, for less time), impossible to take a shower after visiting local market and places nearby, impossible even to flush water in the toilet!!The hotel is located on the local dirty river, where pieces of garbage float, not on the ocean, you need to go 10 kilometers by taxi to reach normal beach. And there are many other non-critical bad situations like electricity, which disappearing sometimes. One time we went to the restaurant at the hotel, made an order, and after 2 hours of questions and requests, you finally understand that it was not even started to be cooked. Et cetera.Dont recommended strongly. Gambians must seriously work on improving service before receiving guests.
MoreThis hotel is an African joke. It claims it has 4 stars but rooms are not being clean, doors sometimes cannot be closed, it stinks with wet and fungus everywhere in corridors. At reception usually I was unable to find anyone. Open buffet is not being refilled so it ends up as "run for food or be hungry" - because russians are taking 3-4 times more than they can eat. This hotel is a NIGHTMARE!!! And it the best in the Gambia, so keep away from this country!!!
MoreMagnificent
MoreApparently this hotel had been closed for a refurb and was recently reopened but you could have fooled me. Most of the staff were lovely but the place itself is a catalogue of disasters. It is difficult to know where to start and although some of the problems were not self made (maybesuch as power cuts, erratic WiFi, telephone network availability and being able to check out because the credit card machine wouldnt work, there was plenty that was their fault. Filthy table clothes, chipped crockery and glassware, no water to the rooms, water shortage for the pool, the treadmill broke down on my first visit and hadnt been touched when I left 3 days later, broken patio door catch, plug sockets that didnt work, ran out of Coca Cola and tonic water, must have had only one set of room towels and pool towels as they were always waiting for them to come back from the laundry. Evidence that they had refurbed the rooms was that all the furniture, lamps, toilet, safe etc etc had a code including the room number written on them in plain view in black magic marker ! I mentioned some of these issues to the staff but they knew already and just shrugged. The final insult was at the end when they added 5% to the bill for using a credit card with no prior warning when the booking was made ! Thankfully the weather was wonderful for my few days but I will not go back there.
MoreVery good staff and friendly and helpful rooms are good but in general a tired hotel. TV minimal channels but OK Wi-Fi poor in rooms
MoreGreat but needs updating
Nice hotel in downtown Banjul. Extremely friendly staff taking care of your every need.
MoreIt is a very bad hotel
The Internet, phone and printer don’t work. 5 Stars - It’s Gambia.
Very nice place.. recommended
Been to Laico once but it was an average experience mostly because of a poor and long service. Otherwise the room was fine and the hotel has direct access to a huge and clean beach
MoreA very nice looking hotel. But it is especially great because if you look like a tourist you can lounge around and use the free WiFi. Id suggest the "ATLANTIC FRONT" hotspot near the pool.
MoreGreat hotel and beach. Staff the friendliest Ive found anywhere. Couldnt do enough to help. In house entertainment was a lot of fun including water polo (of sorts), volleyball quizzes and bingo. Something for all ages and abilities and the African dance group were exceptional. Never would have thought of Gambia as a holiday destination, our stay here changed all that.
MoreBeautiful but affordable beach resort
Rooms and conference halls are all perfect. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
MoreI look great
Its a lovely Hotel specially after the great efforts happened at the renovation done . Welcome back Laico Atlantic Hotel with its New look.
MoreI left after a night. The hotel is on renovation and basic services are not existing at this time. They have a great infrastructure and I believe will have a great future!

The best hotel in Banjul
I photographed a wedding here on 2 April 2015. The staff were superb, decorating the outdoor reception by the pool, and the ceremony spot on the beach immediately in front of the hotel. There was a mountain of food, beautifully presented too and flowers for the bouquets were freshly picked bougainvillea from the hotel gardens. The bride and bridesmaids were from.Bermuda, so it was a small wedding by Gambian standards, but very moving and full of joy. Search the albums for Reel Life Photos on Facebook to see the pictures.
