Estonia, Kohtla-Jarve
Established in 1971, this 725-sq.-km. park features forests, bogs, trails, 4 manors & wildlife.
Lahemaa National Park was beautiful as always with its almost pristine nature, cristal clear lakes and rivers. Ofcourse in spring, melting snow and ice add some brownish swamp water which mixes this clearity of the river Valgejõgi. I love this area from my very childhood. Suggest you to visit any time. Now (14.06.22when the summer is almost in Estonia the waters of the river changed into white or lets say transparent. That explains the name of this river. Surronding nature is really well preserved and gives you the exact National Park feeling without any human touch with all the fallen trees and everything. (04.09.22less water in the river because of the hot and rainless period. But the beauty of this national park remains the same- but different:-)
Its the second most famous place in Estonia after the Old Town in Tallinn. Its the largest National Park in Estonia. Definitely a must visit while in Estonia and for all nature lovers. I try to go every month. There are several excellent sandy beaches and many hiking trails with spectacular photo opportunities. There are also a few BBQ places where you can camp for free and grill some food (RMK Telkimisala).
Excellent experience! I loved the route with the platform... I loved it! It was an amazing and unexpected journey! It wasnt expecting it to be that gorgeous!
Well worth the visit.
recomendation, superb
This National Park is stunning! You can spend several days in here and never get bored. Viru bog is my favourite.
Dense forest with wildlife. Best place to hang out with friends and family
Big area with many different spots to visit, coastal areas are beautiful with nice hiking trails and view points
Nõmmeveski is an old ruin of Hydroelectric Powerplant at Valgejõgi Estonia. Thanks to the beautiful nature and combination of the ruins makes this location more mystical and mysterious. To me as a photographer it creates endless possibilities to photography the landscape or portraits with ruins in the background. This place is well known and probably every photographer in Estonia has some photos of this location. Take time and go explore this place and it’s surroundings. It’s well worth it.
This park is awesome, waterfalls, beaches, and vast forests. Great place to spend a day or two and it is just hour away from Tallinn.
National Park loved by Estonians, it is the place to visit of you want an easy hike, see bogs for your first time or simply spend some time with your family
Nature pure! I can only recommend it. Maybe dont come in the late autumn as it would be so cold and windy! Restrooms are available!
Very beautiful place! We have been there in 3 of 4 seasons, and the autumn is the best time to visit it!
We enjoyed 4 days of hiking in Laheema. Every day was absolutely worth it. Good area for cycling and hiking. Most of the trails are best on foot though.
Great huge park, several amazing hiking trails, highly recommend. Surprising number or private roads and private land for a state park, but if you know where the trails are and just go for them, you wont be disappointed!
Its just a beautiful piece of nature. Especially near the vaatetorn a perfect location for lost places photography. Awesome!
Absolutely loved the hike!
Great National Park with many faces. Something for everybody - from beaches and restaurants to hiking and sailing, deep forests to wild see. Beautiful area for a day trip, extended weekend or even a week of work.
Best place to rest, here you can find fireplaces to cook or just warm itself.
Very beautiful coast and forest with boulders at the sea shore. There is a very beautiful 15 km hike starting from Kismu, it’s a loop along the sea shore and then in the forest. If you visit Estonia 🇪🇪, it’s worth coming in this National park where you can hike or cycle. Go beyond Tallinn if you really want to visit Estonia.
Atlja hiking trail. A very nice little trail, with plenty to see.
In Estonia there are magnificent bogs. Easy to access, lots to experience. Nature at its best.
Great place to hike and bike, with hidden gems from the Soviet times.
Very nice place at half an hour of Talinn! You can walk in the Woods or have a swim. You can get a tan on the beach or do some exercices on one of the out door fitness stations you can find everywhere.Locals have their holidays cabin (more a real househere.
Amazing hike around Viru Bog! I added the schedule from Tallin. Ticket 3 euros one way.
amazing place for family. We love to spend time with kids (4 and 6 years oldthere. There is a nice museum, small grocery, nice beach. if you are lucky the sailors can take you to the sea for fun for free :)
Perfect for a day trip from Tallinn. If the weather is good you can do 2-3 short trails and see the diversity of the park.
Such a great natural park with plenty to see. Best sunset spot Ive ever seen
Most wonderful natural place Ive ever been; absolutely astonishing.Highly recommended!
Perfectly prepared marked trails and RMK campsites, silence and nature all around. Truly relaxing place.
The place is amazing and so quiet...
Difficult to review but everyone who visits shall not be disappointed if they like any of the following: nearly untouched nature, stunning hiking trails for literally days, lovely countryside peninsulas with bays one more beautiful from the next, bogs and swamps... Need I go on? If one wants to see what the Estonian nature has to offer, Id say this place is a must visit.
Awesome place to visit but go with sweats, it can be very cold
A fantastic day trip from Tallinn. Would much recommend booking a guided trip from the Tallinn information centre as the guide provided plenty of interesting information on the culture, ecosystem and history of Estonia
Quiet forest and seaside trail, one of the best ways to get to know estonian nature, also nice views to käsmu lake. In case you take the longer trail you can reach the famous captains village Käsmu with wooden houses and a restauraunt.
A very beautiful place to go for a walk in the nature. It is possible to swim in one of the water holes so bring your towel. Some parts of the path are not suitable for people with difficulties walking on narrow wooden paths
Very nice and beautiful place!
One of the most scenic & peaceful places I have been to. Great trails & really well set up camp sites. The scenery vary & changes regularly.
Walking across the bogs is a fine experience. Bogs and woods, a watchtower that is safe to use and allows you to look at surroundings and their beauty. It is a park with an easy access through path made of wood large and secure. Even for kids. Highly recommended
Beautiful windy coast with lovely fisherman village and wonderful local pub
passage paid, the volume of viewing and the opportunity given the urban prices, is very expensive. I do not advise even to go
I just love this place. Nice photo opportunities
Nice place to walk, when its not raining
Really nice place near to Tallinn. Many walking trails. You can go and enjoy the bog in winter or in summer. You can go and swim in the bog and this is totally different experience.
Loads of bogs and hiking trails, with viewing platforms and BBQ spots. Great way to spend a weekend!
This place is pretty great and easily accessible though Loksa from Tallinn by bus. The nature is really refreshing and relaxing. Nice hikes and lakes as well as the Finnish gulf can be visited while in the park. There is also an eco camp in the park thats definitely worth checking out.
Gorgeous day out from Tallinn, much much easier if you have a car
Its just not a national park. Its of things to see here. Recommended to take the tour with traveller.ee to the park
What an amazing place to get lost and wander, I did that, put food and money on my backpack and let myself get lost... what an experience, it was snowing, mesmerizing :had to trust in strangers good heart, thank God I did it. Ended up sleeping near Loksa, by the sea. I will never forget the experience :)
Big National park with many different paths. Signs will guide you throughout the whole area and give information about the nature.
