Place Charles de Gaulle, 59000 Lille, France, Haubourdin
Ornate 17th-century Renaissance stock exchange, with campanile with gold Mercury statue & courtyard.
Good old building. There was a market (I guess every Saturdaythat sell old things, books, magazines, card postal and etc.
Worth the visit if it is not raining. Passed by after the rain and what they sell is amazing. Bring cash.
Nice place!! Such nice architecture and a lot of cafes nearby! I enjoyed it till I was there!!
The old stock exchange (former building of the Lille Chamber of Commerce and Industryis a very interesting building near the Grand Place. In the courtyard inside, there is a market selling second-hand books, old posters, toys, etc. Worth a look, it gets very busy on weekends and holidays.
The Vieille Bourse (Old Stock Exchangein Lille is the former building of the Lille Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is located between the Grand Place and the Place du Théâtre and is considered to be one of the landmarks of the city centre. The building is in the form of a quadrangle, made up of 24 identical houses enclosing an inner courtyard. The place now is a meeting place for booksellers, florists, chess players and tourists.
The site and the venu is amazingThe book gallery at the plaza is amazing with all these outdated books which brings memories from youth
Beautiful historical building. Enter inside the gate if open, its free of charge. You can find a small antics market on Sundays. They sell second hand, and used books, posters, comics and old toys. Stop to admire decoration of the inner porch.
We were on a day trip from London for shopping etc. Came to this square to sit and relax.. No such luck, too many beggers and drunks! Went back to the station and booked an earlier train back to London
Beautiful architecture. Interesting to visit. Lots of books and other things to check
Fabulous piece of architecture.
Cool. Not too much to see, but there are some second-hand book stores in the middle of it.
Loverly city, clean vibrant and lots of beautiful buildings, only there for one day before catching eurostar home. Planning on going back for the Christmas Market so easy on eurostar..
Food, Shopping and amazing architecture all in one place. All within minutes of walking out of Gare Lille Flanders. A must see and do place.
This is the center of the little french town Lille. The buildings are old and they have beautiful architehtural design. However, we did not find a lot of things to do here except walking through narrow lanes with some beautiful old buildings.
Flea market with books and vinyl records inside. Awesome building typical of central Europe.
BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURE !!The architecture is quite beautiful as you can see from the photos. It has lot of cafe and restaurants and one can sit and enjoy the view.In the evenings, the lights and decorations really add more beauty to its architecture.
An interesting place. Today there are second hand book and record salesmen. I picked up "a day-to-day history in Elysee during de Gauls presidency" printed in 1974.
Best place to be or not to be in Lille, super sympa !
Love Lille. Such a beautiful and fun city
A must see square in Lille. Shows the city’s architectural identity.
Beautiful place to go by your own or to meet your friends. The atmosphere is amazing as you will see people walking by, meeting each other, dining around the cafe, some street performers and also some less fortunate ones. Looks really beautiful with the lights at night where you can just relax and feel the cool breeze.
My favourite building in Lille. Charming at any moment of the day or if the year!
Very nice historical building, but the visit is short and the art is not sold cheap. To be included in a wider tour of the area.
Great books on sale at very reasonable prices + history of many of Frances infamous physics and chemistry scientists. The architecture is alluring.
Its a lovely place with beautiful architecture thats bound to make your eyes widen. The history that has clearly been preserved here is one of the things that make this a place to visit and is probably the most engaging part of Lille.
We traveled to Lille especially for the the market inside, The book market is supposedly open from 1 to 7 PM, but when we got there past 1 PM there was only one seller open (no. 11). Apparently all the other sellers were too lazy to get out of bed for the market. We came back after one hour to see that only one other seller had made it. Very disappointing and very disrespectful to potential customers!
Very nice building. Old books fair all year long on Sundays.
One of the most attractive buildings in Lille.
Really beautiful looking building surrounded by amazing eateries.
There are some very beautiful buildings around the area. Lille is a cute and small city. Those who live here call it a mini Paris. I liked being there. You need one day to visit the important points of interest and there is no real need to spend a night here. I strongly suggest a walking tour.
Really nice squareGreat pubs and cafes around
Beautiful architecture, if you love old books thats the place.
One of the finest buildings in Lille. Every visitor should see it. Fortunately you dont have to make any great effort, because its central and almost any stroll through the middle of Lille will take you past it. Courtyard full of second-hand book stalls.
On Sunday evenings there is tango dancing in here. Fun to watch if you dont want to join in.
Beautiful building were once was the old stock exchange. From Tuesday to Sunday you can also see an amazing book flee market and there is tango in the evenings. Walk around to see the amazing detail of the facade where you can find the logos and symbols of all the companies that contribute to conserve the place. If you want to see the new stock exchange is just behind this building by the Opera House
The Vieille bourse in Lille is a beautiful historic building. You have a somewhat permanent flea market in it thought the year. (Im uncertain about the prices being flea worthy.)In the summer, every sunday, you have Tango social dancing in the evenings until 11 p.m.The Vieille bourse is one of the most gorgeous buildings in Lille and it is located at the centre square, making it also a very touristy place.
Just came across it while wandering around Lille and was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of vintage prints for sale and one has to dig through a lot of prints and found a few that were wonderful medical prints and they were an excellent price. Takes effort but I found something I wanted. Recommended if you like looking for vintage prints
Beautiful old building. You see the style of the past. When the sun is shining on the building it looks so great.Inside is a nice place. When we where there the was a little book, artistic, art market. We had not the opportunity to look inside the building. Hope there will be a next time to visit that too.
Lille.. a combination of citys like Paris, Antwerp and Gent
Beautiful 17th century stock exchange in renaissance style and current showpiece of the city. In itself, this majestic building already refers to the important trading activities in those times, with traders and money changers. It is indeed on request of the latter that the building was established in 1652.The building is rectangular with a total of 24 houses and a monumental entrance gate. In the middle there is a large square square with gallery that rests on stone columns. There is a lot of movement and trade here
Gorgeous little markets in the centre of Lille. Well worth seeing it. There is everything from craft shops to amazing food and drinks. Santa is there and also some rides. Very reasonable prices compared to Paris Christmas markets where everything is double the price.
Beautiful old architecture reminiscent of, but not as extensive as, Ghent and Bruges but without the canals. Plentiful good restaurants and bars. Worth a day trip certainly.
Nice city good ambiance and also nearby from belgium. Normally they can understand some of Dutch. Though its called French Flanders
Very attractive old historic building on the Grande Place.
The city center of Lille. When you go to this place during the Christmas market you get to see lots of fun stuff. When you visit Lille you can’t miss this place. Don’t forget to buy a souvenir :One more thing, don’t forget to try the local food :D
Impressive old building on the main Charles de Gaulle Square. Inside in atrium, there is second-hand book market. Building, dated in 17. century, is covered with rich ornaments. They say it is one of the most beautiful buildings in Lille.
Nice photogenic building. Its the old stock exchange building turn second hand bookshop on certain days. Interesting to walk through the courtyard
There is a lot of old odd stuff here. My husband loves it. The building is beautiful and the detail is so well done. If you get a chance to visit Lille take a walk inside.
"In the courtyard of the Vieille Bourse (old stock exchange), a second-hand book market from Tuesday to Sunday from 1.00 pm to 7.00 pm."The place is like a courtyard, quite easy to miss, one of the entrance is trough the arch next to Souvenirs Lille (see pic)
Amazing building with giants inside. Its worth a quick visit.
