La Trattoria - Italian restaurant in Guanajuato, Mexico
i really wish i remembered the name of our server because he was so kind, attentive, and accommodating. we initially sat inside but requested to sit on the balcony when it was available, which they allowed us to do. our starters were alright but we both loved our pastas. i asked for them to add gorgonzola to the four cheese pasta and they did, and it hit the spot. i definitely want to return here before leaving guanajuato.
La Trattoria is the best restaurant in Guanajuato. Ask for the salmon a la costra de tres chiles, Super, super dish
Food was good, music too loud. Nice balcony seats.
The view and location are great 5/5The service was really good 5/5But the food was just okay 3/5
The service and location were excellent. We made a reservation the day before, arrived a few minutes early, and were able to be seated on one of the balconies overlooking the garden outside. The food was good, we ordered spinach ravioli, Alfredo (added chicken), spaghetti with marinara, and a pasta chicken dish. Smallish portions that had good flavor, but were good not great.
Oof! Sublime mediocrity awaits at La Trattoria. Nice staff and great views, but unless youre coming to expect a good meal, well, dont.If you have ever been to a restaurant and thought "this food sucked. Such a tourist trap", that is what you will find at La Trattoria. If you have not experienced this sensation, but want to, I encourage you to eat here.Otherwise, just grumble your way through another taco or enchilada minero.
Nice place, good food, good service.
Loved this place! If you are from overseas and have been missing Italian food, this is the place to go. The views are amazing, the food is excellent and the staff so friendly. The second time we went they had no tables left on the balconies, but as soon as one became available they asked if we wanted to move so that we could have our dessert with a view. They really go above and beyond.
I am always skeptical of big hotel restaurants. But our meals were great, the wait staff were very attentive, and we had a wonderful time. My wife had the cheese cannelloni which was super rich. I had a tuna steak with grilled peppers. We of course had dessert -- brownie for me and tiramisu for my wife. The waiter also brought a 3rd dessert with a heart drawn on it. I also had a mezcal and two beers. It was a delightful meal.
Amazing place, location, vibes food and service are really nice for this small town. Luv it.
If you come to Guanajuato, you cannot leave without trying this place. Great pastas, cocktails, and even better service! Gracias!
Delicious food and wonderful view from our outside balcony table. Service is perfect!
Lovely experience , tasty Ravioli and Lasagna , tiramisu is delicious 😋
Good food and great service. The view is amazing from the balcony.
Terrible food, very pricey and mediocre service. Save your money and go elsewhere...house wine at $185mx per 6 oz glass?
Food was delicious, and service was very friendly. Dessert was just ok
Very good service, nice place, good bread, cold drinks, great view but the food is not so good, very insipid.
This place is not good. If they did not have balcony seats, this restaurant would not be open. This Italian Restaurant doesnt even know how to make a pizza. How is that possible? What a joke!! The ratings a false. There is no way people would say these good things. This is a tourist trap. I was told to buy the best wine they had, so I spent $90 for the most expensive bottle they offered. It was OK. No legs and just average at best. Which is why its only a $23 bottle of wine. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT till the menu is worthy. There are much better choices in this wonderful town.
Had Pizza very good, Sangria delicious enough for two people. Had a salad called Caprisi(I think thats how you spell it 😋, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, my wife really liked it , me not so much.
Wonderful service. Wonderful view of the plaza. Wonderful, authentic Italian food.
We were able to sit on the balcony and had one of the best meals ever! I ordered the steak medallions with gorgonzola sauce and they were perfectly cooked medium rare. The entire experience was divine! The service was top tier!I am definitely returning to try the chefs other selections.
Loved the place,Delicious pizza and a very good pear salad.Service was good. We waited for our balcony table but it was worth the wait. Beautiful view
Food was good. Service was poor. I had a takeaway order and when I did not want to give a tip the waiter mumbled something under his breath and threw the change at me. Real shame the pasta was great.
Great place, nice food.
The view is nice. The service was great but I didnt like the apple pie. Apart from that the drinks were great.
Tourist trap. Do not come here. Food is mediocre. Service is lacking. And so when it came time to settle the bill, we left a 9% tip. Waiter returned to say that a minimum 10% tip is required. We asked where this is said and their reply was that it’s a cultural norm. Complete BS. Ungracious, entitled service and treatment that I have never experienced here in Mexico. Terrible.
For the price, its hella good. Killer pastas and delish entrées. Stayed with the normal beverages because wine choices, although good, were not for my personal taste. Either way you get what you pay for. PSA tho, ask for your meat cuts 3/4s because they serve them in hot iron pans and get overcooked if you ask em medium rare.
Very classy, nice views and service.
Staff was very friendly. Although the food was not very authentic but tastes really good. We were seated at the balcony and the vibe was amazing. Would recommend this place if you want to dine at the center of Guanajuato
Only go here if you can get a window seat, great view and good table service. Would come back here. (Update below)UPDATE: loved the view so decided to give them our business again. From the outside they looked very slow, several empty window tables. Hostess wouldnt allow us to have one of the four window tables unless we could confirm we would be having some to eat prior to exploring the menu. We decided to leave since this was not setting the right tone for the experience we wanted to have. NO WINDOW SEAT, NOT WORTH IT!
Solid Italian option on the corner between the Jardin and Iglesia in the.main part of town. Good salads and pasta. Staff is super accommodating and friendly. For dinner, try for a balcony table on the church side and watch as the Callejoneadas Guanajuato gather their groups for the evening.
Really good food. I would definitely go back to eat here. This place is Italian though, so be aware of this. Not.many Mexican dishes on the menu.
Staff was super friendly. We arrived late to Guanajuato and the restaurant was about to close however they still seated us. They sat us on the balcony where we could overlook the garden. We had tuna tostada as an appetizer and a delicious salad and a pizza. The pizza is far from comparison to pizza in Italy. The pizzas are definitely made how most pizzas are made In Mexico. Which is thin crust, lite on the sauce and Mexican cheese. I personally love it. Overall we had great service and the food was good.
Delicious food, amazing view and good service.I will definitely come back
The atmosphere was horrible as was the energy, we decided not to eat there so I can not comment on the food. If you want to pretend you are rich or not in Mexico this is the place. Too much English spoken.
good food and great view if you can get a seat on the balcony which may need a reservation. good place to view street life and fiestas
Sorry, I dont get it. I guess all positive reviews come from people that never had real Italian food in their lives. The pizzas are just bland and not authentic at all: The dough tastes like crackers and also feels crumbly. I couldnt taste the tomato sauce. The cheese is Mexican Mozzarella which is probably some processed soft cheese with a quite sour taste. Neither the parma ham (mine came with a small piece of plastic wrapnor the cooked ham (in Germany this could not be sold as ham, its the typical Mexican something-that-looks-like-ham-from-far-awaywere any good. Not even the basil is authentic Italian, because they are using Thai basil.Lasagna meat sauce was good, but the same awful cheese spoiled it. With Oaxaca it would be OK I guess.Worst price/value ratio ever for me in Mexico (and I spent more than 5 month here). Two stars for the very attentive service.
And I am not sure why I even gave it two stars. The worst puttanesca sauce I have ever had, literally. Pasta was not cooked properly. Sangria was also terrible. I ate here a year ago and the pasta and sangria were fine. What a difference a year made. Never again. I will stick with Los Campos steps from my hotel. I need mouthwash to get the foul taste out of my mouth. I did complain to the waiter but........By the way, I was in the restaurant business myself for 17 years.
Consistently great food. The fried mixed appetizer plate is big enough to share. Great view of the Jardin. Fantastic service. English menus upon request. Ask for Pancho. Tell him Iris sent you.
The pizza crust was terrible--if that was wood-fired, theyre wasting wood. Service was good--I was there after most people had left. It was worth it for the view from the balcony. I would not go if there is no balcony seating.
The place is so cool, but the food is so expensive and the taste isnt the best for the price. Also the service could improve so much, we finished our food and the waiter started to ask constantly if we need something more, but no in a kind way, it seemed like they were waiting for us leaving the place.
Nice restaurant with great view. Food is delicious, the term of the meat was served as it was asked. Prices are good considering the restaurant is at a very popular zone downtown. Service isnt that good in holidays.
Great food and service, superb location! Cant beat sitting on the balcony and watching people on the plaza below! We had salmon carpaccio (fantastic!), Funghi pizza and veg lasagna - all good. Ask for the local Allende beer! The waiter was so good too!
We had two long lunches sitting on the 1st floor balcony. The food is wonderful, and so is the service, a great place for a relaxed time watching people in the plaza beloe.
Delicious beef carpaccio appetizer and spinach ravioli entree. The second floor terrace looks right into the lively square!
Location nice with view on the "Jardin de la union". Tables are on first floos upstairs. I had spaghetti with seafood but the taste was non very good and too too much oil. I asked for an espresso but they bring me an american coffee. I didnt drink it but they charged it on bill: I had to discuss a bit to get it removed from bill... Two stars instead of one only for the nice location. I expecdet better food and service: its nothing to do with italian cuisine.
Exquisite dinner in a charming place with a beautiful view to Jardin Union and Teatro Juarez. All the dishes we ordered were succulent. We ordered pizza to start off. The crust was crispy, perfectly made. Then, we ordered a dish called La Divina Comedia which is fillet medallions and shrimp in a sherry sauce. The best dish by far. We also had spinach raviolis in a four cheese sauce, shrimp fettuccini Alfredo, and a pear salad. All dishes were very tasty and generously served. Our server was very attentiive to our needs and very professional. The best service we had during our trip to this enchanting town. Highly recommend it!
Fabulous dining experience on private terrace overlooking the Jardin De Union. Food was artistically prepared and over- the- top sensational. Excellent wine selection and professional service with sense of humor accompanied. Cant wait for next experience in this lovely establishment! !!!!
We ordered Pasta al pesto and margarita but the cheese in pizza was too heavy and also the pasta was too heavy for us.The terrace seat seems good because you can see the theater from their eating.
The food and service is amazing!! I highly recommend! We were a group of six and everyone was beyond pleased with their plate. Pizza, Salmon, and Ribe Eye is excellent. Their staff is friendly and not to mention fast. This is a must go to place when visiting GTO. Excelente! Gracias por todo!
