La Trattoria - Italian restaurant in Cairo, Egypt
Best pasta we ate in a long time. Even better than the one we ate in italy a few months ago. The place is clean and quiet and the service was discreet and excellent. I definitely would repeat and recommend it!!
An Italian inspired speck in Zamalek Island of inner Cairo. Affordable pasta dishes and calm atmosphere
1. ordered the fillet steak medium, was more on the rare side, had to return it and it came back same piece but heated a little more which resulted in more burnt outside with still rare inside. the wine sauce that ordered with it tasted very off as if its very old bottle of wine that taste pretty much like nothing but cork!2. secondly ordered the carbonara which when u think youll go to an Italian restaurant youll find an authentic version (no creambut that wasnt the case, plus there were pieces of clumped up egg whites in the sauce. (authentic carbonara is made with only egg yolks-no cream)not to mention that thats all I ordered, paid over 800LE with very small portions, the waiters were really nice but I saw staff or people changing clothes in the corner of the restaurant. very sad to say this but this used to be one of my fav places back in the days but unfortunately that wasnt the same nor a pleasant experience.
I Love the place it has such fancy decor and Delicious food * especially the spaghetti * , and the have very good service, But you have to pay cash , otherwise its a very Fancy and good place
Discreet to be found. But nice people and excellent food
Less than normal taste, and expensive place! There are a lot better places around the corner.Polpo/ Octopus smells and Pasta had unchewable chunks.
Food with no flavour, except for the octopus carapcio with has a bad smell.
One of the best Italian restaurant and in Cairo
Good ambience , yummy food .
Very nice italian restaurant, excellent serve and risotto primavera. Good option for take good italian food
Excellent service with high quality and reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very elegant. The food is excellent and unexpected from an unpopular place
Excellent food. Cozy atmosphere.
My favorite Italian in Cairo. Its ambience is cozy and quiet. Their food/salads are the best, but always ask for their top pasta!
Pasta was ok but they don’t give back your change
Sweet cozy vibes. The food is by the book classical, delicious and fresh. Great for an intimate dinner with a good selection of wine.
Great place &Food. Very reasonable prices
The ambience was good. Very quiet. The staff were average maybe in Egypt but in my observation, honestly not be professional. I felt sometimes theyre impolite or rough. Regarding the food. I could say the mushroom soup was great but a bit salty. The appetizer of zucchini was delicious. The pasta pomodoro doesnt have any aroma and almost no taste. We had to put some salt in to but still couldnt be satisfied. The ravioli with spinach was acceptable but a little salty. The calamari with tartare dip was no valued of 220EGP. Dont order. Overall I could give them only 3stars so far. Still need to improve. Including one bottle of wine then it cost us about 1600EGP. Considering the price, worthless.
Used to be one of the best Italian restaurants on Zamalek. Not anymore so. Lax service. Had to return drinks and a very oily pasta. Plus a case of food poisoning late at night...
The place was beautiful and the mise en place reminded me of Italian restaurants! Loved it. The food was great too. I changed my order after ordering something else and they were so kind to replace it with the dish I wanted. Overall I had a wonderful experience. Thank you ❤
Located in the heart of Zamalek, the food is good, the ambience is an average, I was expecting some Italian music.
the ambience was great, the place was quiet, the staff is friendly, the decorations are pretty cool & the pastas were amazing! handmade pasta is always good.
One of my favorite places in Zamalek. However, to be completely objective, food is not the best to be honest; you’ll get good food but not super. The place is really cozy. Avoid going by car as there are limited parking spots in Zamalek.
Very friendly staff, extremely delicious and well taken care of food. Place is perfect for date or simply a nice cozy lunch/ dinner
Thats a good spot to go to for a quiet and lovely delicious dinner (sometimes). Theres something special about it that you can only feel it when youre there. Enjoy!
Food main course 9/10 staff 9/10 deserts 9/10 soup 5/10 salad 5/10 cleanse 9/10 price 6/10 atmosphere 9/10 yes recommend for next time
Great place with a cosy and classy atmosphere. Quality of food and portions were good. But of course, as the usual case with similar restaurants, it is a bit expensive. My visit was on a weekend, so it was a full house and the place was a little too loud.
Its inconsistent. Sometimes its great. Sometimes not. A lot depends on the chef. It can also get very smoky because its small and about 50% of the customers are smoking at one point or another.
Expensive, food doesn’t worth the price.
have been there many times, the ambient is small not really a warm athmosfere, food is well done but to my opinion menù is too limitedi came back and it is like before it is a managers choise, but the food is still good
Pleasant experience, excellent food except for the mozzarella cheese in the caprese salad - too hard to chew. Nice atmosphere.
Best Pasta and Italian food in downtown
We ordered a tenderloin steak which was average but the chicken Alfredo was really good. However, it is over priced especially for the quantity. What bothered us the most about a place that has a superb interior design and lighting (perfect for a datewas the FLIES that were all around us spoiling our experience.
Great little space — very well decorated and clean — makes you feel like you walked into a small neighborhood Italian restaurant in Soho or the West Village in Manhattan. We tried two of the pastas — the pesto and the puttanesca. Sadly the pesto was tasteless and watery — not a trace of Parmesan ant not much olive oil either. The puttanesca was slightly better — but still below expectations. Maybe other plates will be better (we hope). Still searching for good Italian in Cairo.
The ossobuco (which has always been exceptionalwas so tough & full of gristle I had to have it replaced by the tenderloin. When the latter was served, it turned out to be an entrecôte. So I ordered a garden salad. Very disappointing experience.
Amazing Italian food...lasagne was literally swimming in the liquid cheese and the quantity was overwhelming.
My most favourite dining "room" as its small and cozy, offering a wide range of Italian pastas. The staff, the chef, the manager - they are all super friendly.
You can pass by it and never recognize its there. One of the best Italian fine dining restaurants in town. They offer very good service in a relaxing ambience. Osso buko is on another level at La Trattoria. The duck risotto is a signature dish and its one comfy dish to have. One thing im addicted to there is the mustard soup, it is out of this world. In short, great place to dine
Food and service were okay. The waiters were friendly. I ordered tomato soup and Spaghetti puttanesca. Tomato soup was delicious, worth trying. The aroma and flavour of the puttanesca were weak, below what I was expecting. Overall it was a good experience.
Not as good as it once was. The atmosphere is just as cozy, but the food is almost inedible. We ordered the mushroom soup, the fettucine salmon and the frutte di mare risotto. Soup wasnt bas, nothing special, pasta was tough, salmon smelled extra fishy and the risotto was terribly made. Saddens me to say the quality has definitely gone down.
This is a neighborhood restaurant with lots of locals. Good choice of wine, beer and cocktails (though they were out of vodka the night we were there). Three of our group had the salad with gorgonzola, walnuts and apples. It was exceptional. The other starter was the soup of the day, mixed seafood. Also excellent. We all enjoyed the catch if the day, sea bass grilled. Outstanding. Highly recommended.
- Very crowded street, no parking at all- AC is very bad, the temp inside is really high and you keep on sweating as long as you are inside. Even we they turned it on it was very very weak.- Dead flies on the window of the restaurant- Food took too long to be served- Prices are on the high level, value to money is not convenient at all.
Cosy restaurant with good cuisine. The tuna steak I had was good and its accompaniments perfect. The problem is the prices on the card are not inclusive of tax and service, so you get a bill you did not expect.
We ordered some appetizers and three main dishes. Ive been here before and enjoyed the food. So took 2 of my friends there. I was so disappointed. The salmon was dry. The lamb was not well seasoned and overall the experience wasnt what I expected from eating here a year ago. The quality has definitely gone down, which is sad considering they actually had really good food and service before.
The Resturant and the staff are very nice. The food is good and the place is a bit quite though could be a bit smoky as people smoke inside. One of the few places that have octopus salad ;)
La Trattoria is a very decent place in one of the very cream de la cream places at Cairo Egypt. Zamalek Planet. I always, live this place from the moment you enter there youll find decent mixed staff from Egyptians and Italian people wholl serve you very well and make sure that youre happy. The place is so artistic from the portrait their and the classic music. Mainly, its not crowded, youll find there different nationalities, influencers, actors and actresses. They are famous by their vielled escallope, and their veil either with lemon or White wine. You need to reserve first before going and semi formal or smart casual is a must. Enjoy the stay. P.s. its a very good place for a first date. :)
Amazing atmosphere, great food and good choices for drinks
Terrible service though food was good. I Not ONCE did they inquire if we needed anything or how was the food. we first they brought the wrong order and when we were done, we the plates were sitting on the table for 40 minutes and no one attended us. I I had to cancel the dessert as it was so late. I feel bad if the owner is not aware of their indifference to new customers. I I am visiting from Florida and I will never recommend this restaurant. Terrible Service and an apparent lack of desire to grow clientele or tend to tourists. I when I ask to cancel the non-appearance desert because of the long wait, I no one attempted to apologize for or explain. Truly sad...
One of the best Italian restaurants in Cairo. Located in the heart of Zamalek with parking assistance. The ambiance is very cozy with right lighting level. No free tables after 9pm so yould better reserve in advance. The food is very tasty and plates composition is very nice.Price are on the high side but not overpriced. Clients are mainly over 30years old. Service is very good and people are friendly but non-intruding.We really enjoyed the family night.Thx.
A cozy local Italian restaurant with friendly services and consistently good food. Their steaks are stronger than their pastas. The produce in their salads is always fresh. They serve a great carpaccio. Its a relaxing simple atmosphere with a dozen tables with white table cloths and tasteful decoration.
Very nice charismatic Italian restaurant in Zamalek Cairo. Food is excellent and good value for money. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even saved me from getting a ticket by warning me that the police was about to give me one for parking. Definitely going to visit this restaurant next time im in Egypt. Thanks Trattoria
