La Tortuga Panadería/Pizzería - Pizza restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Great atmosphere, very chill. A more mix crowd than others places around. Live acoustic music is like a concert. I came here a few weeks ago also and I think it was a private party, but I was astonished on how extremely friendly everyone was. This has become my favorite bar in Old SJ. Id recommend this place hands-down if you are in the area.BTW, the guy whos singing tonight (Luis Feresis truly amazing! Also a must mention to the owners who are incredibly attentive and kind. As well as the servers who were top-notch. What else can you ask for? Come have a drink or two, listen to great music in a welcoming place.A feel of true PR hospitality in a beautiful building and setting. If you want to experience PR without leaving SJ this is the place!
I loved this place! My AirBnB was just nextdoor so I stopped in twice, first for a drink and then for lunch the next day. Both experiences were top notch. Excellent drinks and the chorizo sandwich was delicious! The young lady tending the bar was friendly and happy to accommodate my unusual drink requests (as others have mentioned, the espresso Martini is amazing. And they didnt even give me any flak for drinking before noon on a weekday!...what? Im on vacation). My only complaint is that they are closed Wednesday (tomorrow), meaning that I will not have an opportunity to try their breakfast before I leave town...oh well, I will certainly try to stop by next time I am in Old San Juan.
Don’t worry that this place is not main stream reviewed. Stop in for the coldest beer in Old San Juan and plow down a few scrumptious empanadas of five different varieties. We had the Chili and the Cuban. While you’re at it, put an exclamation point on your delicious relief from the heat with a three star rum and a massive bowl of bread pudding. You’ll be very glad you climbed the hill and earned this slice of Old SJ!
Great service, pizza, empanadas, ambience and service.
Ricooo
Burnt food. Over-priced dishes and over long wait for a mostly empty restaurant.
I have always loved the place. They have renovated and made the place a little more upscale. It was amazing. But I actually preferred it before when it was more authentic Puerto Rican food and pizza, prices were much better as well. But that said you will not be disappointed with the new renovation and menu. And the service rocks
Great tasting pizza and sandwiches! Excellent staff. Definitely we will return and highly recommended.
Awesome service and live music! Izam and Javier were great!
Izamo was amazing! Food was delicious. We were in a hurry and they got our food out very quickly so we could make it to the airport in time.
Quick stop for drinks. They were so nice and loved the unique drink combinations. Also tried some of the local coffee and it was bold and strong.
Absolutely amazing service, delicious food and kid friendly. Highly recommend.
Great empanadas! We also loved their Mule Coladas that they featured during the piña colada festival. Mohammed was very friendly.
Food was amazing, coffee was so delicious. Service was outstanding and so friendly. Best meal yet in PR. Highly recommend
Great food. Glad we stopped in. Banana pancakes were great!
Drinks were amazing , Food is delicious and the service was the best so far on the Island !
The food was ok, pizza was slightly overdone/burnt. The service was great.
Brand new place still need staff but nice and nice people
Clean bathrooms. Great service. Yummy food!
The veggie pizza was very tasty. And the service was excellent.
Run don’t walk to this amazing new bar in old San Juan! The owner was an incredible host, the food was amazing and the bartender, Javier, makes the most incredible cocktails- including the most delicious espresso martini I’ve ever encountered (and I’ve tried quite a few in my day)! I will most certainly be back on my next trip!!!!
Good prices, great drinks, and excellent hospitality! Thank you for making a great impression during our first visit to Puerto Rico!!
We were there on opening night and they were more than accommodating. We came in late and they turned on the oven for us and made some amazing empanadas. We even came back a week later to get them again. I prefer their baked emapandas to the deep fried ones. Delicious!! Great hosts. So friendly. I would definitely visit again!
Great Food, great atmosphere and service. Angel was the best and the mojitos were prefect! :)
I was heading somewhere else for breakfast when the amazingly friendly Ramon greeted me as I walked past. I ended up eating here instead. And again the next day. Delicious!
Super friendly staff! Excellent eggs, bacon, and coffee! I was surprised to learn they’d only been open a few weeks. What a great spot for breakfast!
Great espresso martinis! The staff was super friendly and spent time giving us tips on where to go around here. We didn’t order food but the pizza looked yummy. It was a great vibe and definitely would come back to get some food and hang out. 10/10 would recommend!
Angel was great —he went out of his way to ensure we had an excellent experience at this new restaurant. The food was very tasty. We had pizza and sandwiches and both were very good. The restaurant was airy and open and we would recommend it.
Just reopened and experienced Awesome service, great atmosphere and delicious food at the heart of Old San Juan. We had the Chef’s Special Pizza and it was one of the best pizza’s I’ve ever had. Drinks were also great. Definitely worth the visit. Will be back 👏🏻
Amazing food. Outstanding service. The Chef special pizza is a Hit!!! Privileged location in Old San Juan.A new favorite!!! ❤️😍❤️
Its OK I have better pizzas. The dough needed more time. The staff is super courteous and attentive.
This place says it’s open til 2 am. It’s 10:15 on a Friday night and it’s closed. Update your information. So incredibly tacky and unprofessional. Leaving 1 star cause I couldn’t leave 0.
Service was great. Pizza just eh but good quick stop while touring. Frozen sangria hit the spot! If you walk by and need a break, stop in and have a cold drink at the bar.
The bartender was rude and they never had food when we went. And it was soooo hot in there no AC. Please dont waste your time going here.
This place is awful. Never come here! I rather starve to death. Food is awful, terrible service, dirty place, never will come back. Worst tuna sandwich ever, and you can never go wrong with tuna sandwich. I’m surprised this joint is still open.
Food was good. I had a sandwich. They make you personal pizzas, my husband said it was good. We had breakfast there one morning. Bathrooms were HOT. I guess no AC in there. Server was nice.
Looked for closing time it said 11pm, so we got there at 9:45pm. To be told that they were closing. I guess our looks made the waitress ask cook if we could get a pizza. She made it happen. The pizza was good. It’s a shame that we couldn’t stay longer.
Food was good pizza supreme was superb and the cheese was good too. Had a group of eight and all had drinks and was 81.00 with the tip. The music was excellent variety of salsa songs on Pandora some in my group got up to dance. Not to far from the plaza de San Juan city Hall and service was good. If you live blk olives you will love this place what was unique was the added chorizo with the sausage, onions, peppers, mushrooms and wierd pieces of tomatoes. But pie was good not too salty and cheese was really tasty.
They are great for pizza, donuts, coffee and lots of other plates and treats. Employees are very friendly. But I must warn it get very crowded on weekends at night. Especially friday. Please be kind to the employees, they are in a big rush, but they will always gladly serve you, remember they are human too.
The perfect spot if you are just looking for an affordable place with food and drink options for everyone, without the fanciness known to a tourist area. Good service.
Wow! Amazing bang for your buck! Some of the most delicious food I’ve had in Puerto Rico and it was so cheap! The Cuban sandwich was amazing; absolutely delicious.
Cute spot, great food! Slow service when we came unfortunately, and the place wasnt very busy. Bathroom had no soap dispenser.
Breakfast was awesome! Cappuccino and coffees were better than expected. French toast was delicious. Didnt have a chance to try the donuts but they looked great.
Cocktails were a bust. Margarita was bitter lemon juice with salt and absolut with cranberry was simply cranberry. The supreme pizza was good but not worth $29.00 usd. We don’t plan to go back. The waitress was nice that’s why we rated it 3 stars and not 1 or 2.
Calamari was outstanding. Delicious and fresh. Young coconut water served up with rum was yum. Reasonable pricing. Glad we randomly stopped by.
One of my favorite pizzas in San Juan. The crust is soft and warm with garlic sauce on it and the queese is perfect. Good place for cheap drinks when you go out at night.
The service was great. I had breakfast here which was oatmeal, eggs and toast. The oatmeal was super. I loved every spoonful. The eggs were slightly over cooked and the toast was not to my liking. Too much flour, I believe.
Only had the pizza there, but my goodness, it was cheesy and gooey and delicious. Actually, had the churros too. It was a very guilty purchase, but a yummy one.
Quick service, good pizza (though I prefer my pizza with thinner crustand decent prices makes this worth it. Its not amazing, but it is exactly what it advertises itself to be. A quaint little place in old San Juan you should visit if youre there and have a craving for pizza!
Great tasting pizza at an affordable price. Had a large thin crust pepperoni and it was delicious. Im definitely returning.
