The service was good as was the food. We enjoyed our lunch and had some good conversation.

The food was sub par beginning with the salsa which was so salty it was barely edible. The chips were the same in addition to being over cooked. The queso was grainy and I can’t actually tell if it was cheese. It was more like soup. The enchiladas were so salty they gave me a headache. The menu was very limited and overpriced. I would rather go to On The Border or Bravo’s

Cocktails are on point, the Silver Grandma marg is a must. We got the deluxe combination & the Carne Adovada was delicious, I’ll definitely order that main dish next time, but I wish the queso had more flavor. Atmosphere is great & the bartenders were very friendly & attentive. We’ll be back & just change up our food order a little.

The quality of the food has significantly dropped over the last several months. Had the tamales and the only good thing on my plate was the rice. Its now only a half step above corporate tex-mex. I can no longer recommend this place to anybody.

This is some of the worst service and food that I have ever had in Tulsa. New Mexican food is amazing, I don’t even know if you can call this edible. The food is extremely overpriced and the servers are rude and uninviting. Please, do not waste your money here. Go to Taco Bell.

I now come here EVERYTIME, I come through Tulsa. This is true New Mexican food from a turn of the 19/20th century origin. And on a truely amazing fine dining level.First of all, any diner visiting here must clear their mind of how modern day Mexican/American food has been mutated in the 21st century. As a Historical Chef, I absolutely LOVE their Menu.Place your mind set on the fact that the New Mexican food here is exactly as New Mexican food was served in the 1950s. That means, there is no tomatoes in the Salsa, (that was altered to include tomatoes in the 1970s). It is done totally with chilies and onions with spices. The Queso, is NOT made from cheddar and jack cheese that has been watered down with cream. Its the real question cheese and chilies. The Black bean soup with jalapeños is mind blowing, as well as the Chili Rellenos, enchiladas, and Carnie Adobada. Even the Blood Orange Marguritas were mind blowingEVERYTHING here was so authentic Santa Fe food, without any influence from California or Texas style Mexican food.Having grown up in New Mexico, the food here is SO MUCH BETTER then Sadies, El Pinto, or any other real New Mexican restaurants in New Mexico.

Always love this place. Service was Hella slow this time. Dont know why they only had one server for a completely full restaurant. Guess some of their workers were sick or too lazy to come help out.Anyway the food was on point as always here!

We were seated outside but no one ever came to take our order so 20 mins later, we left. The music was super loud outside and the tables werent cleaned off so maybe it was a blessing in disguise? I was not impressed by the food the first time, and the service was poor this second try. Not sure Id give it a third try.

This is our favorite place in downtown Tulsa! My partner is from Santa Fe, NM and was thrilled to find an authentic place that reminds him of home. The margaritas are amazing; real margaritas without the fake syrupy sweet mixes. This isn’t Tex-Mex!

What a gem! The decor is simple, authentic, and charming and the food was all delicious. I’ve spent a lot of time in Mexico and this was place was fully nostalgia inducing. The green chili stew was a standout and the cocktails (we tried a fewwere all so good. And ya Gotta love a good flan :Clara behind the bar was a delight and also incredibly hospitable—my parents recently moved to the Tulsa area and she was a treasure trove of knowledge about what to see and do (and eat and drink!in the city. This will definitely be a “must visit” anytime I’m in town visiting the fam.

Update: Came back a year later, and I was pretty disappointed.. it was freezing in the restaurant, the chips were pretty crusty, and the service wasn’t good.New Mexican style food, so good. First, and foremost their sopa pías were one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten - the inside of the restaurant was so pretty, such a vibe. They have a fireplace which made it warm, and smelled so good! The food was good, too! ❤️ The service was also, great!!!

This was one of my worst dining experiences. Both the service and food was awful. Two of three entrees we ordered were unedible. It took over 45 mins for our food to come out and our server disappeared. One of us at the table ordered the 53.00 steak ( picture is of the portion that was thrown out because the steak was hard to chew and tasted like a cheap cut of meat. Another person ordered the enchiladas which had undercooked meat when she told the server, the server was irrrated and literally took the enchiladas off of her plate. The meal was not remade or replaced by something else because we were already disappointed by the attitude of the server so didnt want to be a bother. We hoped that the dessert would be better, we ordered the churoes , bread pudding and flan. The bread putting was ok, but the churoes was hard and would have broken your teeth , the flan had a weird refrigerator taste. They charged us for the enchiladas after we mentioned that it wasnt eaten, they charged was for 6.00 for the rice and beans that came with the enchiladas. We paid 120.00 for two unedible entrees and two desserts that were trash. I wouldnt have written this review had an apology been given for the poor service. We wont be back.

we were disappointed in the experience. We had a lg. group so a cross section of entrees. The food all tasted alike with different wraps or sauces. The noise was totally unacceptable even sitting next to a person it was very difficult to hear. It was pretty expensive which we expected but thought it could be worth it, it wasnt.

The food nor drinks were good. Don’t waste your money . My husband and I of 33 years rarely complain but both of us agreed that the food was so salty we could not eat it. The salsa had a Smokey hot flavor that neither of us could eat . We love salsa and spice! But this was not good . My husband had the burrito , I had the tamales . Neither were eatable . I had the blood orange margarita it was so -so. My husband ordered the classic margarita . He sent the first one back . The second one was worse ! I tasted both and agree . The guacamole was good . We seldom complain but didn’t want to pay $88.00 for food that was awful . Taco Bell would have been a better choice. However , the manager came out and was polite and took 50% off of our meal . We appreciated that but will not be returning .

Awful experience sadly. Really nasty fake Mexican food. I had the Guacamole and 3 Trio plate, and everything tasted very bland and flavorless.Poor customer service overall. We celebrated my friend’s birthday and had to ask 3 times to get our waiter to bring the cake out. What made this experience truly awful was when another waiter asked my brother to get up from his chair and swap it with another chair. This is totally unprofessional for a high-end restaurant. Will not be coming back.

Being from New Mexico, I have a hard time finding a Mexican restaurant that I enjoy. La Tertulia was excellent. I had their combination plate and wasnt disappointed. The tamale was loaded with meat, the carne was tender, the posole was amazing, and most importantly, I was able to have green chili. I finished with a sopapilla that was hot and fresh. My only complaint was that the chips were hard and tasted like fritos. As of this post, they have not updated their online menu, so expect prices to be 3-5 dollars higher.

I love this place tucked in between oysters and sashimi. Mezcal margaritas are worth going alone. But the salsa is on fire. It would be nice if there was a milder smokier version.

Ordered Margarita it came in a very small glass 3 drinks and it was gone. Salsa tasted like hot sauce, asked if they had a different salsa that wasnt so hot theres an upcharge (no problemunfortunately, it wasnt much better. (oh I was surprised when I read on the menu if you want an extra basket of chips theres an upchargeFood was ok however if you dont want the sauce that came on it theres an upcharge to have something different.

Ill give this place 3 stars. The food isnt terrible but its not great. I grew up in New Mexico with family that cooked these dishes and theres nothing authentic about it here. Yes, I know their recipes are more Northern New Mexico thats where I grew up and my Hispanic family made these dishes but La Tertulia does not have authentic New Mexican food. Just because you add green chile doesnt mean you have true New Mexician dishes. The sopaipillas werent cooked through and the masa for the renellos were soaked. There needs to just a slight crisp to them. If you fixed those things I do believe these dishes could be great. Find someones abuelita from New Mexico and shell get you in the right direction.

Found La Tertulia on Facebook, loved their social media presence and photos of food, seemed like a good date night spot!Food was okay, but kind of one note. We got the queso, and a combination plate (enchilada, taco, tamale and their specialty pork dish), and the enchilada and the beans were the best things on the plate. There just wasnt a lot of variety of flavor across the spectrum.GET THE CHURROS. THEY ARE THE SAVING GRACE. SO SO GOOD.Our server Devin was nice and attentive, even with the Friday dinner rush. Service was slow at times, but he checked in regularly enough for us to know there was little he could do about the pace of service.**my main issue with this restaurant is the kitchen staff. Our table was sat directly in front of the expo window, and it seemed to be all smiles and working at first, but there was one guy (seemed to be a kitchen worker or manager maybewho was on his phone, visibly, throughout the entire meal. I watched him, phone up to his ear, grab food from a prep station with his bare hands and eat it right in front of the window.I completely understand the concept of tasting food before it goes out? But use a tasting spoon or something. This seemed more like entitled snacking. There was also no observed hand washing or glove usage. Also, with a full house, it just felt weird, and blind to the guest perspective, to be standing out in front of the kitchen window making calls/texting and distracting/hugging other staff in the middle of a dinner rush. If its important and you need to handle business, do it in the back out of sight. The other staff had great attitudes, and the last guy to talk with us was a lot of fun. The hostess was nice. I just feel like theres some really important management and sanitation issues that need addressing.I threw up all my food when I got home, which may or may not have been related to poor sanitation, buuuuttt.... we probably wont be back.

Wonderful food and atmosphere. The waiter we had was unusually absent. It was a Friday night and very busy, strange we had to wait 20+ minutes for the check. Perhaps he went on break. Food is authentic and very filling. Margaritas and chips are subpar for what tastes to be homemade.

Incredible experience at La Tertulia on a busy Friday night. Made a reservation and sat at the bar. The two bartenders were super friendly and knew their menu well. Food was out in a reasonable amount of time given how busy they were. The enchiladas were absolutely phenomenal, and the queso is worth getting with the chips.

Best New Mexican food Ive had outside of Santa Fe. Arguably, the best Mexican food Ive had in Tulsa.I had the combination plate: enchilada, tamale, taco, and carne adova. Everything was prepared perfectly and was a lot of food. The salsa and guacamole was also on point.Service is excellent. Been there twice for lunch so I cant speak to how things work at night but. I issues at all for lunch. A little pricey but well worth it.

After seeing La Tertulia selected for Yelp’s Top 100 list I had to try it. I now understand why they made the list. I’ve haven’t had exceptional, authentic Santa Fe, NM-style Mexican food outside of northern NM until dining at La Tertulia. Chips and salsa were excellent and obviously made from scratch. The salsa has some kick, in case you don’t enjoy spicy food, but that is the style of northern NM. I’m sure your server will help you find a mild menu item if spicy isn’t your preference. The chili rellenos with green chili were fantastic…..among the best I’ve ever had. Finally, the flan is extraordinary, and huge! I look forward to coming back the next time I’m in Tulsa. You won’t be disappointed at La Tertulia!

This place is very unlike anywhere I’ve eaten in Santa Fe.First, the chips are hard as rock, but it seems all the cornmeal is very coarsely ground as the soft corn tacos were equally grainy and crumbly.I started with the shrimp and octopus ceviche appetizer. The shrimp was fine but the octopus tasted like a gummy bear as it was grossly pasty and borderline inedible (perhaps it was refrozen too many times?).The enchilada on the combination plate was fine; the Carne Adovado was dry as a bone (but the sauce was good); the tamale was more masa than filling, thus equally dry; the beans and posole were bland but otherwise OK.We were seated at our reserved time. The service was relaxed, but adequate. With all the rave reviews, I was really looking forward to a good new restaurant. Guess I’ll keep looking.

In my opinion, the only down side of this place is the long wait, BUT, that speaks to the quality of the food and service!! Highly recommend placing reservations. We got lucky and there were two seats open at the bar, so we didn’t have to wait long!😬It’s a smaller place with a wonderful atmosphere. With it being cold outside, they had fire in both fireplaces going. With it being smaller, you might worry about the noise level, but at no point was it too loud. The salsa has some kick to it, but is very good! We had the chicken tacos and the Pollo Adobo (sp?🤷🏼‍♂️). Both we very good and we got our food way faster than we thought with how busy they were. Our server at the bar was wonderful and so kind.Location is great to walk around the Blue Dome District, too!Highly recommend!!

As far as Ive been told the Mexican cuisine in downtown Tulsa isnt exactly, ya know, very good. But Ive been in quite the mood for some Mexican & I was told that this spot - which technically serves up Sante Fe, New Mexico inspired dishes - was the spot to try. I looked at their social media and instantly loved how they plate their food. Some reviews have criticized it, but I friggin love it. It looks like pure art to me. Thankfully, the food was quite good, too. First off, and this is important: they give you chips and dip, and ask if you want more when youre done. The chips were on point and the salsa had a nice kick to it. The spicy Margarita was on point and delivered on its name. The shrimp & octopus ceviche had a great kick to it and was a fantastic starter along with the elote. Everything listed so far had a nice spice and kick to it (can ya tell?). And I appreciate that. The combo plate that comes with 1 enchilada, 1 taco, and 1 tamale, rice and beans is absolutely delicious. Again, Ill stress out how much I love the plating. Sloppy & plentiful. Yes and please. The burrito was fantastic and was another beautifully, cheesy plated dish. Im absolutely heading back over here for a future visit. There is much more I need to try out.

Unique, neat little place. If youre looking for a traditional or chain like Mexican restaurant then is not your place. Theyre going for more of the southwest hispanic flare. The atmosphere completely fits their menu as well. Their chips and salsa are also not your standard chips and salsa. Chips are a bit more rough and the salsa is more spicy and darker, like the kind my step-mom (whos from Mexicomakes. Tried the chorizo flautas, which were amazing. The blood orange margarita was also great. For my dinner entree; I had the trout with chimichurri which was amazing. The beans were cooked perfectly, the fried potatoes that were placed on top of the trout were perfectly crisp while still being soft on the inside. Only minor issue I have is lack of front of house uniforms. Not expecting anything formal in fact, the casual wear is not bad just wish it was more uniformity. The servers t-shirts were neat but the bartenders seemed to wear whatever they felt like. Other than that, great place. Will definitely be returning.

Dont go expecting Tex Mex - its Santa Fe style food, and very different from Tex Mex but delicious. The salsa has a kick to it and a smoky flavor. I didnt love the chips. The margaritas are good. The burrito was really good, as were the beans and rice. The sopapillas were good, I did miss having honey. The Elote is the #1 must try - I will be back for more corn, for sure. Theres lime in the sauce they use on it, and theres so much flavor, its the best elote Ive ever had, hands down.

I was definitely looking for a taste from home. What I tasted was cumin. Cumin in the red Chile, green chile and especially the rice. Everything was very salty and the salsa had way too much oil. I’ve made salsa all my life and never used oil. Ate salsa in New Mexico all my life and it was never oily. And worst of all…the chips and taco shells come out of a bag. James Beard?? How about Jimmy the custodian? The restrooms needed some attention.

This is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The salsa is great with a little heat. I love the combination plate and the different flavors. A different take on Mexican food compared to a lot of other comparable restaurants around Tulsa. Im a big fan of authentic Mexican cuisine and while I wouldnt consider this "authentic", its definitely not Tex-Mex. They bring out really thick chips with chili salsa that will leave your eyes watering, which I personally love. The portions are large and will definitely leave you full with left-overs. Bonus points: I was strapped for time and we called to reserve a table. They gave us an approximate time and we showed up and immediately got in!

Visited for the first time for my birthday and still amazing as I remember going to the original in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The red and green chillies are fantastic and the tamales are to die for. The salsa is unique for it is not tomato based. The manager said absolutely everything is made fresh daily in house including the tortillas and grinding the masa. I had the combination plate which was a great tasting of everything. One pro tip is the dining room is small so reservations are a must almost every night.

We sat at the bar and had a great time! Tried the hatch chili martini, which was spicy but not hot, and went down very smooth. The black bean soup was—dare I say it— the best black bean soup I’ve ever tasted. The enchilada plate was also incredible—the flavor was deep and delicious. I tried the red and green sauces mixed, which may not have been very sophisticated, but was very delicious!

Oh. My. God. Literally the absolute BEST Mexican food I have ever had in my life. The service was spectacular and the drinks were phenomenal. We got the queso and chips, octopus ceviche, chicken enchiladas, carne asada soft tacos, and custom drinks from the bar. We drove here from Austin, and this place was worth the 8 hour drive alone! Such a uniquely designed dining location. The inside is tight and loud, but still a beauty to look at. I had the Adobo Chicken which was massive, tasty but also hard to eat. The chips are unique and the salsa very spicy. My favorite part was the 75 cent sopaipillas served with honey butter and honey as an extra option. This restaurant may be new, but the history of reopening a family restaurant from decades gone by was just great. Prepare for a wait, its always crowded these days.

Wow!! What an experience! It is very cute and cozy inside, but the food is impeccable! It is the first time in a long long while where Ive had Spanish food and it was different and unique. EVERYTHING was good - our drinks, appetizers, entrees, dessert, and especially the service! We were lucky to have Lauren as our server, and she was so excellent she made us feel like we were the only ones there in a full restaurant! Our waters were never empty! Also, I thought we would be too full for dessert, but we ended with a dessert drink, and I must recommend the Spanish Coffee to anybody. It was fantastic! That, the pozole, and the unique chips and salsa were my favorites of the evening. Apparently the salsa is made only with a variety of peppers, and no tomatoes, which was a delightful, spicy new experience! Everyone go try this fun new addition to Tulsa downtown!

A little slice of New Mexico in Tulsa. We ordered a smattering of items and NOTHING disappointed. Definitely kept to the authenticity of NM, and was actually better than anything we ate while in Santa Fe or Taos. The staff was so friendly, the ambience charming, and the food ON POINT. Definitely can’t wait to go back.
