La Terraza de Pata Larga in Puntarenas

Great place for a rest or stop over. The Staff was very pleasing and accommadating towards me. The grounds have 2 pools and 1 poolside bar, a small marina and the restaurant has a complimentary tipo breakfast. The 2 breakfasts I had and later the 2nd evening, 2 diffent octopus (pulpomeals were all great.This is a no frills, quiet, clean and nice place to stay.

The hotel does show the consequences of the pandemic, Floors are worn out and ready to be replaced, the tower is pristine though. Definitely the best place in Puntarenas. Service was prompt and people did want to make a good impression.

The best I have experienced

We were greeted by the receptionist who was very polite and courteous. The goodness ends there. The first room we were given had black mold. They gave us two other rooms to choose from and both were musty smelling. We didnt have much of a choice and chose the lesser bad. After unpacking everything my kids try to get into the shower but find out that there is no hot water. The hotel says they cannot fix it and offered a room in a newer building. It was 10pm and kids had already gone to bed. I wish they had given us a better room in the first place. I cannot believe that such relatively well rated hotel can be so bad.... The three rooms we saw were dated and the balconies were filthy. The restaurant El Timon was equally bad. The breakfast was terrible.. They served uncooked pancakes, stale fried plantains, dry crusty bread...just unappetizing food.

What a disappointment! Booked the 5 bedroom penthouse suite for 2 nights. Broken window in the bathroom, batteries in remotes don’t work, only certain tv’s work, mold on blinds in master bedroom. Paid over $1,200 US dollars for this place and it’s nowhere worth what we paid. To top it off, no trash can in the kitchen and no utensils. As well as two old frying pans. PH room 171. This place is old and rundown.

Its great space. A little dated , needs paint and minor touch uos but the value is really good.

We stayed at Tower 5 building for 2 weeks with great beach and port views. Sunset is beautifully seen from here. Very friendly and warm staffs and good service 👍🏼 😀. Happy 😊.

Food was good, very slow service as there was plenty of wait staff around. Our drink glasses were empty for half our meal and they never checked in on us. There was only 4 tables of customers. Purely poor service! We will go elsewhere for dinner

An incredible blissful and charming place with very good service from the staff.Its a beautiful location in the midst of mangroves and surrounded by sea on both sides.If you are lucky enough to stay in upper apartments they provide a 180 degree view of the ocean with all its birdlife and gorgeous sunsets.Cant speak highly enough of the service every single employee gives you.So glad to have spent 2 weeks here, and its quite near to lots of attractions and nature reserves.Food is excellent and the bar run by a true master of natures cocktails and drinks.The weekends also host BBQ, dont miss this!

Great view from 4th floor

This hotel is a scam. Look up pictures online and see the property in person. You book something thinking this is a great deal ( the marketing dept must be great as they use a picture of another building in construction misleading people to think that’s where you staying. The door key has issues. Ceiling is full of lizards. And the room and hotel is nothing compared to what they sell online. Do not stay there, this is a cheap motel posing as a 4star hotel. Trash!!!

Very good. I got a good price for stay monthly, departments full kitchen and staff very kind. Has restaurant and tiki bar too. 2 pools. Very clean. Good internet.

The place advertises a 4 star hotel, but their very best suites hardly get to a 3 star. Things you will not find in your room: hand towels, blow dryer, working telephone, bilingual staff, quality cable/satellite TV, safe door locks (to lock the door from the inside you need the key, in case of emergency you better know where you put your keys).Things you will find: friendly staff, good views (only in suites), regular sized fridge and kitchen with all utensils (just watch out for the rusty ones), room service (you need to call from your cell phone because the phone in the room doesnt work most of the time), good food.

The hotel it’s beautiful, cozy and depending the day of the year’s you’re coming, could be very relaxing. The staff attend you very well and they are very helpful. The food is ok, not bad neither great.

We came to the marina on our 47ft trawler, the staff here are amazing! They all went above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed. Miguel at the front desk really came through for us with some paperwork we needed. And Henry did an awesome job cleaning our hull. All the staff get 5 stars! Thank you for making our visit great! Was there for 5 day same breky every not much to do

We were there from dec 30th thru jan 1st, 6 adults + 2 kids (11 years old + 16 year old)Our room was not ready till after 3pm, we ended up getting a pen/house with amazing views, we were also offer a new years party event for $40 dollars per person with sangria included + buffet + soft drinks.The live music was amazing as well as the DJ, the food wasnt that good at all, it was just ok, the place didnt have enough waiters & we were told that Sangria was not included & that it was all a mistake.Regarding the pen/house, water will not come out on the 2nd floor shower making it totally useless, the larger 2nd room on the pen/house lacks closet space, extremely dirty silverware + glassware the air conditioners cooled the place down but could use some maintenance as it didnt make the place feel really cold as I have felt it on other places near by.The TVs didnt get a clear picture & half of the remotes wouldnt work due to bad batteries, I wish they would offer room service as if you think about it, we were on vacation not on cooking duty & it is quite a walk from the pen/house to the restaurant.Great pools, totally family friendly if you come by for a day or 2, after that perhaps staying on a larger franchise hotel like Riu or Double tree will for sure be a better option specially if youre a foreigner as we have a completely life style compare to the locals as they have lower expectations of what top of the line customer service should be.Regarding our personal experience with our stay & the overall new years eve party, I will have to say that I would come back as along as Im spending the day & doing other activities as PLAY TORTUGA IS A MUST PLACE TO VISIT WITH GRAY LINE ADVENTURES ***NOT WITH THE COMPANY THAT IS AT PUERTO AZUL FRONT DESK AS THE GUY DONT HAVE MUCH KNOWLEDGE COMPARE TO THE GRAY LINE SALES REP.

Place is nice BUT they allow locals with kids onto the ground AND into the pool. Terrible noise !

The staff are amazing.. Polite and experienced.. The hotel is modest but very clean and well kept. I would say Hotel and Condominiums are a world away from the surrounding area... Area is typical Costa Rica. Poorly kept and terrible roads..

Condos rooms are nice. The regular ones didnt seem as good. Have 3 pools Which are just OK, theres a bar, nothing fancy or special about it. Their restaurant its definitely the low point. Tasteless food even the simplest of the meals, nachos, chicken nuggets, scrambled eggs... tasteless. If you have to go to Puntarenas this is probably the best option...because there arent many. Otherwise please look somewhere else.

Photos are of the condos. Rooms are like old college dorms with old bathrooms and there are no views. Pool area is nice and there is a bar open in the evening.
