La Souche - Microbrasserie (Limoilou) in Quebec

Great casual brewpub, with appetizer and sandwich options. But really, youre coming here for the beer, of which they have plenty of options on tap.

One of my regular places to chill at, which I could always count on for good beer, great service and the best seitan burger in town. Recently the burger has disappeared, which is a real shame. PLEASE bring it back!

Great beer garden. Very knowledgeable staff. They almost seem disappointed when you know what your want and they cant help you out while stroking their glorious hipster beards. I think everyone enjoyed all of their meals. I certainly did. That all said, what is a brew pub without great beer? La Souche does not disappoint. After all the years that I have been drinking their beer, both on site and from a can, I dont think I have caught up with all the amazing beers that they make. Their variety is huge, from English ales and West coast IPAs to much heavier beers this place has it all. Best can art to boot. Give them a go. You will come back.

What a place, there was queue to enter at like 18:00 Tuesday. Beers were plentiful and they were exotic and good. Poutine and cheese sticks were proper, but the service was sadly not very good this night, needed to ask for a check three times and then after half an hour of waiting we could finally leave. But otherwise a solid place.

Super chill spot, the food was good the service excellent. We ate the chicken burger and the cheeseburger, both delicious. The have a good selection of there own beer and also have cocktails. You can purchase experimental beers at the boutique near by. I will definitively come back there.

Cute little pub style place, has such an awesome vibe! The staff here are SUPER SUPER friendly, and we’re quite helpful to us English speakers ! The food was AMAZING I got a cheeseburger with poutine ! Both were great but the burger was EXTRA good. Honestly 10/10 recommend. Definitely a good place to check out, and also a very happening spot.

Great atmosphere, vast selection of beer (although many are soursand friendly service. The chicken burger and battered cauliflower were insanely delicious, and the poutine with "Boules du bucheron" was also quite good!

The IPA beers were really good. The appetizers were tasty. We were a bit confused with the hummus, taste was good but too much pepper. the waitress was friendly and helpful. Good brewery!

This hip spot just north of the river is a great place to hang out and drink beer. Excellent music selection, great quality beers, and a clean spacious interior make this my favorite brewery so far in my Quebec City travels. Try the Canotiers Grande Réserve Acéricole! (Belgian Dubbel infused with maple syrup)

I had really great service here from a nice girl. The flights of beer and featured Cheeseburger Poutine was so good! I especially enjoyed the Maple Belgium beer and the sours were really good. There is on street parking available you just have to drive around and take a look. The ambiance was warm and inviting. Overall enjoyed my trip here.

Incredible food phenomenal drinks and excellent service. I was blown away by how attentive and considerate the server was. I took their drink suggestions and I dont regret it at all.

Like the food and drink. Beer is good, fried chicken burger is delicious, and also like the poutine. Not so generous on pouring whiskey but it’s fine. In general highly recommend if you visit Quebec.

Awesome vibe, beers and food! I already knew them from their beers available in specialized beer stores, but it was my first time at the pub as Im not from the area! Definitely recommend, and Ill be visiting again next time Im in Quebec city!

Amazing food & beer, friendly service, and varied menu! It was refreshing to be able to enjoy a meal that was vegan in an environment that hosts all types of palettes. We had the vegan pizza, poutine and hummus, plus two flights of beer. The ambiance was lovely, even on a Monday evening!

A very nice place indeed.. they always have a good beer selection [yes, looking at you lAssemblage #6, Tri Porter Électrique and Faber] and delicious appetizers and meals.. It is an easy choice to make when deciding where to go!

La Souche is amazing!!! The food is great and quite original. We poutine-topped-hotdog and a Halifax-styled donair which were delicious! The selection of beer is of great diversity and quality for a reasonable price! The ambiance is really nice with a good choice of music, a nice terrace and a lovely pub-styled rustic decor. The service was perfect with waiters who have a lot of knowledge about their menu and are not shy when it comes to helping you make a choice! It is a must for beer lovers and anyone who is looking for a nice meal with their buddies!

Poutine was good but something needs to be fixed with the ordering system. We had to pay twice because they said our payment online was not good enough (it would only let us order for the next daywe called ahead to confirm and they said to order online so we did. Then we showed up and they said we had to order again. Overall the food was good but there was no reason we should have had to pay twice for our food when we already paid online and we were told that we could not get a refund in person and we had to wait for it. Fix this issue and Im sure its a nice place to eat

Beer, beer and beer. The variety was wonderful. Indulged in a nice dark cafe’ lager. Went wonderful with my scrumptious smoked salmon pizza. Great service all around. Waitress was so helpful. I advise all to enjoy in this small hidden gem of Quebec.

Local is great. Not in the tourist buzz and a welcoming experience to sit between locals and have a scrumptious meal from a very compact menu. You need to speak French here to understand the locals but sign language worked very well for me and a bit of broken English (from some localsmade me connect very easily in this warm friendly atmosphere. Jan 2020 - I miss La Souche...

We got two samplers (servers choiceand we enjoyed most of the beers. All were true to style, we just prefer some styles over the other. We shared two types of poutine and they were both fantastic. We are only in town for 3 nights, but we will be back again for sure. The wait staff had no issue communicating in English.

Great food and service. Unique décor. Curb appeal is a little lacking but dont let that fool you. You need to visit to really appreciate it. Great craft beers. Would return again if I come back to Quebec.

Finally got a chance to check this brewpub out, it has a great rep but its a bit out of the way.Very homey feel and decor, its a great neighborhood pub.Service was great, our waitress knew her beers and gave us good suggestions. The beers were frankly excellent. The surprise for us was the quality of the food. The chilli, horse meat lasagna (!), everything was delicious.A well worth it detour in Limoilou, easily the best all-around brewpub in the Quebec City area.

Im on the fence about "la souche". I genuinely WANT to like the place but I always end up dissapointed. The place is always way too crowded and noisy, the beer is either great or subpar and the food is average at best. I think i had the worst fish and chips ever there. It was very greasy and tasteless. Seriously, how do you make bland tartare sauce!?

Great Bar, the beer selections were top-notch, staff super friendly. The menu was well rounded and the Chef’s Nachos are to DIE for. Will be coming here again when I’m in this area.

Great spot in every way. Funky, cozy pub feel with one of the best burgers Ive had...Cheesebuger Classic...delicious beers ( had Stout and West Coast style IPA. Excellent service to top it all off.

Really good poutine, with a great choice of beer. The scotch ale and the stouts are amazing, well done. The staff is also great and friendly, really cool place!

Great bar, close to the Cegep, so it is always crowd. We went around 5 pm on Wednesday and there was a lot of people, almost full. So if you do a reservation in advance, it may save you the wait for a table. The food is really good, and they have a wide variety of craft beers. Even with full house the service was good and quick. Lovely place for a beer!

Great drinks and atmosphere! Goes from microbrewery beer to good scotch! The food is delicious! The fried cheese curds,poutine and nachos are a must!

Perfect place to try the local beer. They have amazing collection of beers from their own brewery. Besides if you are a foodie person La Souche is for you. They serve the one of best poutine in Quebec and several other menu. Outside sitting area is fun place to hangout with friends and family. Price is moderate level not to costally. I will suggest a must go place.

Vast choice of locally brewed beer. The menu is great and puts to shame most of the citys pubs ! Love the thematic "log" inspired decor. Definitely a must to any amateur of microbreweries.

We waited 30 minutes for our food, while they served 3 tables that arrived after us.. I tried to wave the waiter down but the whole staff seamed more interested in serving regulars than us.We decided to leave, but I wanted to inform the waiter, when i approached him he immediately turned away and busied himself with his pad.Good beer , horrible service.

Bit of a wait to start off, but it was fine as 1/2 our party hadnt shown up yet. Our server was very knowledgeable and knew everything by heart. We had a great meal and enjoyed their fine selection of beers. Did not disappoint. Really busy, and a bit noisey, but it was an awesome experience to say the least. Thanks!

Amazing beer! We tried the Red Irish Ale, a blond, and their "Franc Bois DHiver" which was tart and deceptively steong. They were all very good, and you could even see the back room where they make it through a window. Their growlers are a nice size, and not too big. Lastly, their poutines were exquisite! They are very generous wih their cheese curds, which is a real blessing. Will return again on our next visit to Québec.

Great food, great beer and decent prices. Beef tartare is delicious and well-seasoned, portions are normal people portions for people that actually eat food. Beer selection is wide, local and changes frequently. Expect 15-25 for mains and 7-8 for a pint. Service is top notch, seeing as we had no trouble getting everything we needed even though it was packed when we arrived. Lucky you, if you snag a place on the terrace!

This place has a great beer selection. About 20 on tap. They also speak English, even though they don’t want to. Thanks anyway guys. Our waiter vaped outside. He was cool. Their poutine was great. There about 10 different kinds. Good music to boot. If recommend to someone I like. That might be you.

Love this place, I always make sure to visit when Im in Quebec City. If you swing by, make sure to try their deep fried cheese curds! Theyre delicious and Ive never seen that anywhere else. The beer is also great FYI ;)

Elevated gastro-brew-pub with a great balance between brew and food. Stay with the house-made beers, as there is a very strong selection (14 unique beers, I believe). I would definitely recommend the thicker, maltier beers - Their porter, stout, and barleywine are world-class. Burgers are cooked to perfection, and topped uniquely but not outlandishly.

This pub is amazing. The food is incredible and beer selection is great. Service staff is knowledgeable and awesome in both French and English. Try the pulled pork sandwich. One of the best ever.

An upscale brew pub slightly outside of the city center, it’s hard to decide if La Souche is a restaurant with great beer or a brewery with great food. The poutine is award winning, in contention for best in Quebec with huge chunks of cheese curd that forms delicious strings on the fries. The thick savory gravy also washes down well with a strong smoked porter, brewed on site. Service was very friendly as well, even in English. The atmosphere and decor are reminiscent of a si lodge with lots of wood including the spectacular huge beer menu written on wooden slats.
