I have seen very good reviews on this restaurant. Sadly I don’t know if it’s gone down hill or if I was ordering the wrong food, but it wasn’t anything special. I ordered chicken tacos that only came with chicken and pico which was a bit upsetting. I didn’t end up putting lime and their spicy avocado sauce on it which helped, but overall pretty average. The chicken taquitos I ordered though were miles from good. The cheese sauce with the sour cream was actually pretty good, but the chicken was just shards of dry meat. The beans were very solidified as if they were sitting out for awhile. Also, don’t believe it should be 1 dollar sign on google since their tacos are $5-6 each. That being said, service good, place was pretty well kept when it comes to cleanliness, and food for the most part seamed fresh. I would probably rate this a 2.5/5 overall though since the food should be the driving force at a restaurant, and it just wasn’t this time.

This is the best food in Baton Rouge, not kidding. It is so tasty and the tortillas are so soft and fresh... I just love it. You can get the best quesadilla of your life here for very cheap.

The Pupusas were good and the curtido exceptional. I am used to getting a tub full of curtido and the little bowl I got here was hardly enough to last for one Pupusa. Go and give them a try. Pupusas are cheap, nutritious, and tasty.

I know a lot of people don’t think to eat eggs for lunch/dinner, but you cannot go wrong with the baleadas. So delicious. And the people who run the place are so nice! Do yourself a favor and place an order here.

Originally when I went in the place looked very homey and relaxed. When I sat down I was quickly asked what to get from the waitress. She seems very polite and cordial, and I ordered a few quick things for her to get. I would say my food took me a whole of 10 minutes for a rather large amount of various dishes. What I had, was absolutely amazing. The baleadas was absolutely amazing. The pupusas were splendid. My only complaint was that while I did get a nice and large glass of water to start with, it never really got refilled. Other than that, the food was very cheap and everybody there was very welcoming. I highly recommend this place at least once.

We loved this place the first times we went, their pupusas and they serve some Mexican stuff too but the last time we went during normal business hours and the doors were locked with them inside sitting at a table and they didnt get up and come to the door.

Three families and our track coach walked the couple blocks from the Carl Maddox field house this past Saturday for a quick lunch between indoor track events. Among the 9 of us we had a variety of menu options including a couple Carne Asada lunches and several Tostada plates ( I dont remember all the othersbut all reported theirs as very good. My Carne Asada and my friendTostadas were very good. This place is right on Nicholson Drive and very Convenient to many LSU sports stadiums. It is very casual and easy going. They were out of chicken and some pork options -as well as some drink options. But, overall still good

Ordered a cheese and bean pupusa and 2 tacos al pastor (seasoned porkfrom the current takeout menu for lunch today. My plate came with curtido (pickled cabbage slaw), chirmol (I think, similar to pico de gallo, a bit too much onion), salsa roja (needs to be cooked down a bit more IMHO), something that reminded me of Peruvian aji verde (a spicy green sauceand fresh lime. Enjoyed the pupusa but it was so well filled that it started to fall apart as I ate. The tacos were delicious though I didn’t eat them as intended. Since I was in my office alone, I dumped the meat off the tortillas (seemed to be homemadeand topped it with the curtido which I hadn’t used on the pupusa since it fell apart, the chirmol, lime juice, and some of the aji verde. Use caution with this, it’s very spicy. I then sort of made 4 mini tacos, they fell apart, and enjoyed. It’s definitely a 2 napkin lunch. I gave them 4 stars taking just a bit off for the bland salsa and overly filled pupusa and corn tortillas and the rest because I did have some minor GI upset later so Im not sure they are keeping food at the right temperature. I did take out (2pmand the order was ready when promised. Ill definitely be back to try out other things on the menu.

Delicious food, at a bargain price. Always love supporting local restaurants, and this one is no exception. While I would love to give it 5 stars, I do have to agree with others in that sometimes the service is quite slow, they are often out of items on the menu, and it could use some TLC. However, the food more than makes up for the above. If they are out of something I am looking for, there is always something else I will gladly try, and normally end up loving just as much.

A hidden gem! The portions are generous and the flavors varied and delicious. I recommend the baleadas (huge), the tostadas (vibrant and flavorful), and the pupusas (unique and cheesy). The prices are unbeatable and I havent tried a thing I didnt like.

Every single time I go here they either don’t have a lot of items on the menu or their service is unbelievably slow. I’ve tried placing orders by phone ahead of time and have still had to wait (upwards of 20 minsat the restaurant after already waiting 20. Save yourself some money, there’s better Latin restaurants in Baton Rouge.

The food was hot fresh and good. This was my first time trying Salvadore food and it was okay. I would try it again in the future. The tacos were awesome🙌. Also, the sever and the cashier was very nice and bilingual so it was nice to be able to have an order placed without worrying about if they understood me. I give them 4 out of 5 stars because the food was good, fresh, and inexpensive. But I removed one star because the place is dingy and its kind of like a hole in a wall looking place. Also, it took a long time to get my food. I like fast svc casual restaurants but other than that its a good place to try something new.

If youve never had pupusas, go here and try these with some of their homemade hot sauce! You will not find better Salvadorean food in Baton Rouge, especially for the price. They are conveniently located a ten minute walk (or less, if youre hungryfrom LSUs Tiger Stadium, making this the perfect restaurant for a struggling college student to expand their culinary palette on a budget without even leaving the state!

Had carne asada and baleada. I only liked the beans, meat seasoning was off, I didnt even finish plate. Rice seems like that box rice, and the baleada was meh, again because of the meat and the eggs were overcooked. Not trying to hate just that Im Hispanic and Ive been to s bunch of places like this and it could be much much better. Service was very nice 👍🏽

1st time visit. Took a chance after seeing good reviews. Friendly fast service at 1:15. 8 dollars and some change, left a dollar tip for 3 fajita tacos to go, red and green sauce still tasted bland. Big negative seeing green aloe sun burn lotion in mens bathroom being used as soap.

Excellent food at an affordable price. If youre ever nostalgic about Central American food then look no further. The baleadas are a great breakfast plate and the tamales are a good filler in case youre still hungry. The food is served quickly with excellent service. Must go.

This a a great hidden gem right by campus. The food is always delicious, and everything is SUPER cheap! The staff is very friendly, but depending on when you go there may be a bit of a wait for your food - its totally worth it though. Definitely worth trying if you havent been. 10/10

The restaurant was unable to make nearly half of what was on the menu. Then every food item that came out had cheap fried chicken (like Popeyes and not what was in the description on menu). Nothing really seemed authentic and over all a terrible experience. Feel almost that my family was taken advantage for being white.

Know what you want when you come here. I dont think it gets any more authetic than this in the city. Nice decor. Parking can be hectic, so pick your spot wisely. Lunchtime rush is crazy. If you feel adventurous get the whole fried tilapia.

Great food but closes before 9pm. I think services should continue at least until at least 15 minutes til not 30 minutes whether the business is slow or fast. If you dont want any customers at 8:30pm close at 8pm and change your store hours please and thank you.

Pros- Cheap- normally not crowded- waiting time can be minimal- food taste pretty good- an ok selection of foodCons- portions can be small- food sometimes capable of upsettingstomach- decoration very dull and boring- water taste as if obtained from the tap- extremely loud TVs, feel as if I went tosomeones house to eat versus a restaurant- service can be rather rude. This restaurant has decent food for a cheap price however, it can sometimes not go well with your body. The tamales are of decent quality and the other food taste good and fresh as well, however, depending on what is ordered the portions can be a bit small for some people. Best of all the place is often not crowded although that might be due to the horrible look of the place. the restaurant itself feels old dirty and murky due to horrible color contrast and terrible taste in decorations. overall the pros and cons weigh evenly making it average at best. Lastly, the service is pretty terrible. Forgetting to bring drinks, not apologizing when they mess your order up, bratty attitude. Overall the place is meh.

The service is OK. The wait was pretty long. The food truck on Gardere is equally good with a bit less of a wait. Anyway, this is a great place for central/south American food in Baton Rouge. Everything is cooked in lard, so its not good for vegetarians. Its worth visiting and getting the Super Baleada con Carne.

This place is worth a try. It looks scary from the street, but the chicken was properly seasoned. It seemed like it was larger pieces from a hen. The leg I was served was broken. The real fresca soda was a treat. I wanted to try the shrimp papusas, but they got lost with translation during conversation with our waitress while ordering.I will be back.

My dining experience, well our server spoke little English, could not tell us when asked what was on the taco, he didnt understand but he had a nice smile. The food looked very good worth every penny until I tasted it. It has really very little taste even the pico de Gallo was lacking the basic taste of cilantro & lime and my tacos they werent to my liking. It seems like the meat wasnt a high quality a little chewy and no flavor except the salt I added we were not given a lemon or lime, the bean were good I enjoyed them... I may revisit again, but not any time soon.

The most authentic and delicious Tacos and Mexican food you can find in Baton Rouge bar none. Lovely service and great prices. Sometimes they run out of entrees and have the television on too loud, but everything is great, so I just order one of my other favorites. I suggest the Tostados and Taco al Pastor. If you like authentic Mexican, this is definitely the place for you.

This is my favorite place to eat around LSU and possibly my favorite in all of Baton Rouge. The food is delicious, fresh, and very reasonably priced. If you have never tried Salvadorean pupusas, you have been missing out. Pupusas are a thick corn tortilla that is handmade and stuffed with a variety of fillings like cheese, jalapenos, or pork. Other notable favorites are the tamales and baleadas con carne. I eat here at least once a week and the quality is always top notch.

Truly authentic. Tamales the way they should be - not dry and not greasy but entirely flavorful! Closest to the way my abuelita makes it. Super reasonable prices, and the flavor beats out any Tex Mex place in Baton Rouge.

Food was really good. The only thing they need work on is service! My husband and I went in at 10am and he ordered a coffee. The girl rudely said there was none and all they had was soda !! Didnt even specify what kind. My husband had to literally look over her shoulder and name out the sodas they had. Right after she took our drink order she asked if we were ready: We politely let her know that we needed more time since we hadnt even looked at the menu. After like 2 minutes she came up and just ask rudely if we were ready yet. Seeing that there wasnt much on the menu we asked for a couple more minutes because clearly it was early morning and we had never been here before. After that she just stepped out of the kitchen and yelled from across the room if were ready and so my husband asked if they had any breakfast ( just out of curiosity since he is Salvadorian as well she said they did have breakfast but it was not listed on the menu, my husband then proceeded to ask what they could serve and she said " whatever you want I guess " like seriously ?! She didnt even offer anything . Her way of speaking to us was just so rude and impolite . My husband basically had to ask for each item and answer all her questions. At the end we ended up paying around 25 dollars for a few scrambled eggs, some green banana and a teaspoon of beans ..Honestly, if we knew this was gonna happen, I would have rather taken it to go or made it myself. From Texas to Louisiana , I can honestly say "ever is bigger and better in Texas "Not to mention they has kids in the kitchen the whole time crying and screaming and this little girl running around. Such and unsafe place and not to mention very unprofessional.
