The room had not been checked before being rented out. The HVAC panel was unplugged, there was old milk in the refrigerator, only one table top lamp for the entire room, dark hairs in the sink and shower (which I could not get to work), and heres the kicker: a pair of toddlers jeans balled up in a corner of the floor.Also for a nonsmoking facility I thought it strange that there was a persistent odor of cigarette smoke coming from the bathroom vent.The front desk clerks response? "We cant control these things."Id urge everyone to find a better hotel.

NEVER RETURNING! Booked room in August for October 3rd. Tried to contact hotel via ONLY phone number and got VOICEMAIL FULL MESSAGE. I live in Australia, so time difference was what I thought was issue, it wasnt. Incompetent and uncaring Reception desk personnel. Both of the people I spoke to since September 2nd told me that I need to speak to manager and booking agency. I called EVERY DAY including the night before because we were going to need to change our arrival time because our flight changed to early October 4th.The booking agency, me and my partner emailed them several times with no response.I was so stressed and asked the night desk person to write a note for the manager. He said he would. Obviously that did not happen because on arrival on the 4th of October, we arrived at the hotel after a 27 hour flight that we were a NO SHOW!!!!!! I just lost it. I was already not feeling well but I honestly broke down.The desk clerk didnt care and told my partner we cant have a room. My partner explained all the calls and emails and STILL he said no but he will try to call the manager. We waited another 45 minutes.He seemed like he was bothered that he had to give us a room.Our room was disgusting. We had what I believe was a room set aside for the janitor or a room usually closed. There were toilet parts in the trash from someone who just "fixed" it. The toilet had something I cant describe on the outside of it. There was no hair dryer, no coffee machine, no iron or board, no pen and paper, the list goes on.Out of pure desperation we stayed because they said there were no other rooms.I will never stay there again and since I have worked in hotels for years, both cleaning rooms and reception, I am reporting this hotel to the booking company and to them Better Business Bureau.I would have reviewed this HORRIBLE HOTEL sooner but I was so unwell after staying there. I am finally feeling somewhat normal. I cant say the hotel made me sick, I was unwell before but it certainly did not help. The stress ruined our time in New York. No stars would be my review but you cant post review without stars.I would have taken photos but I was just so disgusted. Hair in sink, dirty floors, just horrible. Covid is still present and they dont care about cleanliness.ABSOLUTELY DONT STAY HERE IF YOU LIVE OVERSEAS.

I stayed here for the weekend. The location was great. The train station was close to the hotel. The only thing about the place was check-in is promptly at 3pm you cannot check-in early. The lights would shut off unexpectedly. Little minor setbacks but honestly my overall experience was good.

I would leave no stars if possible. There are motels better than this. HORRIBLE sanitation, looks like they only made the bed & cleaned nothing. Even the sheets & towels looked dirty. They gave no wash rags & said they had none. The lobby was even nasty. Hair in the tub. Found an empty corona bottle next to the bed. AWFUL smells. NO BREAKFAST as advertised. Keys never worked & the guy at the desk wasn’t there for awhile when we needed new keys. Just completely terrible.

The hotel in general wasnt as bad as some made it seem... the room was small and the door lock didnt work so the desk clerk had to let us in all wknd... They were sold out so we couldnt change. However the location was steps from restaurants shops and gas stations which was great.

When we got there the toilet was dirty, there was a half empty bottle of orange Fanta in the mini fridge and the room was not the cleanest. There was no fitted sheet on the bed and WIFI DOES NOT WORK. One day I left to go into the city and when I came back there was a cup in the bathroom with tools they used to caulk the bath tub while we were out. At no time did they tell us this was going to happen and of course they left the bathroom WE cleaned dirtier. After sleeping almost a week without fitted sheets I asked the receptionist for one and he offered me clean towels instead, I smiled and took what I got since this felt like the best it was going to get that day. Not once did I see hotel staff cleaning or offering guest fresh sheets or towels in my 10 day stay. I think honestly think we let the room cleaner than we meet it. Older hotels dont have the fanciest amenities or the best furniture but they try to keep the rooms clean and at least provide the basics, La Quinta does not.

If you take anything away from this review, the price is NOT WORTH THE ROOM.The key cards to enter the room did not work; the receptionist, Mr. Patel, indicated he saw us struggling on the camera, and came upstairs to assist us. He claimed that the battery must be dead, and he let us in with his own key, then told us that someone would always be at reception to let us into our room, while offering no other solution.Once we were in the room, the smell of cigarette smoke immediately was overwhelming, enough so that I strongly debated whether or not to request another room, as this one should have been non-smoking. Ultimately, we decided not to do so, as we doubted the others would smell any better. Upon entering the room, the floor by the door was stained with something white, one of the paintings had broken glass inside the frame and the walls were dusty/sticky with residue, and dirt caked the space behind the side table. The bathroom was the cleanest part of the room, with only the curtains being mildly yellowed, however, there were hairs on the sink that did not belong to either of us. We were exhausted, hungry, and dirty, so I checked the towels to make sure they were clean and showered. After I showered, I went back into the room and put pajamas on while my friend showered.While she was showering, I decided to check the bed to make sure the sheets were clean, unstained, no bed bugs, etc. When I lifted the sheets, there was a stain on the mattress pad. When I lifted the mattress from the box spring/base, I discovered a dried, used condom directly in the center of the bed. After moving the mattress more in order to photograph/video the condom, I discovered the smoke detector stashed between the mattress.Even aside from the uncleanliness of the bathroom and hotel room, the scent of cigarette smoke, and the non-functional key cards, a used condom under the mattress and a hidden smoke detector are both incredibly concerning. A used condom could be a carrier for multiple STIs or other diseases, and the complete lack of a functional smoke detector could have resulted in serious injury or death should there have been an emergency.We went back downstairs to speak with the receptionist, and while we were waiting, another guest was complaining that his key cards were not working to get into his room; this was not an isolated incident. We were informed that, as he is not the housekeeper, the receptionist bears no responsibility for the cleanliness or state of the room, and advised that he was unable to give us a refund for our stay, and we would have to contact his manager who would be in the next morning (Saturday, Sept. 3). The next morning, I called La Quinta. The first time I called, no one answered; the second time, no one answered. On the third time, I was promptly informed that the manager was not working, and would not be in until Monday morning (September 5), and only then between 8 or 9 am - 11 am EST. I did not contact him, as I do not believe anyone who allows their hotel to fall into such disgust and disrepair would be accommodating, and I contacted Wyndham customer service instead to open a case.

I wouldnt recommend to stay. At first the front entrance looked fine and I walked to the room and it looked like it wasnt clean. There was hair all over the bathroom tub, sink and, towels. The sheets didnt look changed. There was yellow stains on the pillows. The next day we came back there was news papers on the floor. Other times during our stay the elevator didnt work. We had to ask our room to get cleaned and they didnt even wipe the TV, or the mirror. And the bathroom was not cleaned either. dont go here.

I cancelled my stay after I did not receive the room that I ordered. I requested a wheelchair accessible room and it was not. The elevator could only be used if the front desk man was contacted first, which I found to be a huge safety concern. Also, the room was dirty and did not look to be cleaned any time recent. Would not suggest this hotel to anyone. The man at the front desk was rude and not helpful at all to try to help accommodate me. The key card did not work and I would have to waited until the next day to be able to come and go out of my room without the front desk guy using his key. The room next door I could hear the mans whole conversation, from the hallway and a little bit from my room. I cancelled my reservation because of the reasons listed above. So gross, find another hotel, especially if you are disabled.

My overall experience was OK. However, there are some basics that would enhance guest experience even though its a 2-star establishment. E.g. an effort to clean the rooms and change the linen a bit more often and replacing the current key cards system with a more reliable one so one doesnt have to have their keys recoded each time they return to the hotel.The location in my opinion is excellent with easy transport into Manhattan and tons of restaurants, eating joints and convenience shops all within a 10 minute walking distance.

The hotel experience was an absolute nightmare. I would like to preface this with the fact that our stay was meant to be for a week, but we had to relocate after three days. We were told that we had to park in the back, which only had a maximum of MAYBE ten parking spots. Once you parked, you had to walk around the building in order to get in. There was no back door entrance. Upon receiving our room keys, we soon discovered that they wouldnt work. After some assistance from the front desk, we managed to get into the room and we immediately noticed there were things wrong with the room. The key problem however would continue to persist, despite being told that it would be fixed and never happening.• There was no Coffee Maker or coffee: Despite this being listed as an included amenity that they provided, it wasnt. When this was addressed, it was replaced with one that was bought from the dollar store, but still didnt provide coffee. Although the staff claimed it was due to COVID, I had a hard time believing it.• The alarm clock was missing.• All the rails on the fridge door were missing, as well as two hanging portraits.• The most concerning thing was that the smoke detector was covered in plastic and bound by a rubber band, along with clear cigarette burn marks in the carpet between the bed and window. There was also a fire alarm that never went off but the rest of the hotel did in the early morning on one of the days.There were other smaller miscellaneous things such as discolored water in the toilet and faucets, as well as what looked like recent water damage in the bathroom.After all these issues, we could no longer stay and informed the hotel front desk staff of our decision and we were told we would only be charged for the the three nights.Well, that didnt happen either and we got charged for the full stay. We have been trying to get this problem fixed for the past TEN WEEKS AND STILL NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. This has been by far the worst hotel experience weve had. We will not be staying here again. And we will not be recommending this place to anyone.

I am usually not that picky with hotels, but this La Quinta was a mess. There were a lot of issues in our actual room. The floor was not vacuumed, there was plenty of trash and crumbs on the floor. Our bathroom had a lot of dust built up on the ceiling along with some mold. There were clear signs of wear and aging on a lot of equipment. The walls had coffee and food stains all over. There was also no breakfast provided as advertised online. It was so bad that we checked out right after and booked another hotel that same day. We tried to get a refund or make an actual complaint downstairs, but all the clerk did was tell us to wait for his supervisor another day. We even tried calling La Quinta and Wyndham, while both basically gave us no real solution. I am not blaming the clerk in the lobby, I am blaming the management of the location and the cleaning crew who seem to put very little effort into the rooms. I have read other reviews from the past and it looks like this La Quinta has been having these issues for a while. DO NOT SPEND A NIGHT HERE

It is the worst experience in my life. I did the check in but when I saw the room I cancelled the reservation. I lost money but I prefer lost money because the room and the building was in poor condition. the room was not clean for a long time, hair in the bed and bathroom and the roof and floor was dirty and in very bad condition. I spoke with other guest and the had the same situation and the rooms are in very bad condition. You will lose your money.... please dont make the reservation in this hotel for your safety and your family. I have pictures and videos showing the poor hotel condition. My rating is 0 stars. they need to closed this hotel. it is not good.

Have to walk up or down stairs to get to elevator unless handicapped. Both key cards wouldn’t work for door. Awful parking lot. Toilet takes 5+ times to flush. Shower doesn’t work, only bath. No microwave. Dresser drawer stuck open.

The only good point of this hotel is agood access to Manhattan. Everything else is awful.A man at the counter isnt friendly.I stayed at the ground floor, which is half underground. So I cant open curtain. If you open it, you will be seen from outside.There isnt a light at the desk,which makes uncomfortable to work. The fridge isnt switched on.No coffee machine.In short, you need to pay more for comforable stay in NYC.

Me and my daughter stayed in this hotel 6/6/22 - 6/9/22 Ill check in with smooth we had to wait 22 in order to check in which was okay lets check in time but when we did check in our room room 50 4. The room look like it hadnt been clean the bathroom had mold all over the bathtub all over the walls dust was so packed up in the bathroom it was pathetic hair all on the bathroom commode. Went down to the front office and was talking to them about the mold in the bathroom that you either remove us to another room or you compensated why are you giving us money back or you get somebody up there to clean the mold because I refuse to stay in a room thats full of mold that will make you sick well course he was an Indian guy and he didnt quite understand English that much no way but just kept saying I send somebody I send somebody where they came they call they self cleaning the mold around the bathroom still had mold all around the bathtub still had mold all on the walls. I was very disappointed because the ratings that people gave whats between a 4.8 which is not true they have no coffee pots in the room they have no cups of anything in the room they dont give you new towels to expect you to use the same tiles the whole time youre there they dont change a bed they dont come in your room and try to do anything so no I dont recommend this to nobody but if I do get sick because of this mold I am going back and I will take measurements. Because nobody should be in a molded tested room after you have paid your money.

Where do I begin? Our door didn’t work all weekend, we had to be let into the room by an employee every single time. At one point our door was found open after being gone all day. Nothing was stolen, but still very weird. There was hair on our towels, and left over food in the fridge. No breakfast was provided even though they advertised it. It is very close to the subway and Manhattan, which was convenient. Just know what you are getting yourself into.

Pros- Convenient location to access the city. Towels and sheets appeared clean. Additional towels and toilet paper were available at reception if required.Cons- External lights not on so it appeared closed. Lift was broken. Room keys stopped working approximately every 48 hours. The floor of our room was filthy and the amount of dust around the edges and behind furniture was astonishing (I actually had a reaction to the dust and my eyes were swollen and itchy from the 2nd day until we left). The bath was stained. The motion activated bathroom light and extractor fan switched itself on constantly. Weird smell. There were no duvets - one bed had a thin fleece blanket sandwiched between 2 sheets, the other bed did not have a blanket on it but there was a spare in the wardrobe. There was no coffee maker in the room as advertised (possibly a blessing really). The staff were not friendly with the exception of one lady who showed us how to make the shower work when we asked. There were no housekeeping visits during our 10 night stay.Conclusion- I guess you get what you pay for, it was $1200 for 10 nights and it was indeed too good to be true. If you dislike hygiene or enjoy a Hotel Cecil murderville vibe then this is perfect for you!(And if you do stay, and havent seen a shower/bath combo like that before, you pull down the edge of the bath tap right where the water comes out to make the shower work)
