A wise colleague advised me to “eat, don’t think” when he suggested having dinner at this establishment. He was right. Thus, I pass his advice to you, dear reader… go to La Pulperia with a healthy appetite… and eat… do not think. Savor everything on the menu.

The meat that we have tried was like chewing gum!It is not cheap place! The quality was not as we expect!

This place is really great. Probably the best meat I ve ever had. Relaxed environment without unnecessary luxuries. Everything is about the food. Really impressed by the whole experience, thanks a lot and keep it up!

This place is the absolute bomb! An orgiastic meat experience. This quaint place is the real deal. You can sit at a side bar or right in front of the grill to get the full frontal joys of tantalizing beef being cooked to perfection. Regardless of where you are, you’ll get hit by the lovely aromas of amazing delicious meat. Sweetbreads were yummy too. Be sure to get a bottle of Tannat, Uruguay’s national wine/grape. Best meat I had in Uruguay.

Top notch traditional Uruguayan parrilla.Located in a quiet street of a beautiful neighborhood; on a sunny day I highly recommend sitting on the outdoors stools.

I stopped here a few times while my ship was in the port, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It was so good that I was let down when I went to a steakhouse in Buenos Aires. In my opinion the steak here is much better than any place I ate in Argentina!

Was good and simple grilled Meat eaten in the street because of the Crisis. Just had to try it out before Everything close down.

The one thing this place has, that no other parilla in Uruguay seems to have is consistency. Always good, always. Also always cooked exactly as you ask. I have a habit of ordering jugoso, when i actually prefer a punto becuase most places overcook their meat. Not here. Kudos!

Very small, limited seating but with good reason- quality of service and the food are kept very high and DEFINITELY worth waiting for a seat. Hubby had the ribeye with fries and i had a smaller cut with fries. Kids had leg and thigh portion of chicken, fries and sausage. Everything prepared just to perfection and the service was welcoming and personal. Will definitely be going back. Excellent parilla!

Really unique steak house, since its very small and wherever you sit you can see your meat prepared right in front of you. Reasonable prices and a chill ambiance.

Great meat, worth the wait

Tried to visit on 7/20 for dinner at 8pm but they seemed closed. Lock on door and no one inside. No indication it was a temporary thing.

This is a very small local joint, but so highly rated on Google and TripAdvisor, we decided to eat here. The place is generally crowded and since it was a chilly night, noone (including uswanted to sit outside which made it even more crammed. I had my apprehensions about it, but once my chorizos and steak arrived and I took my first bite, OMG, the best Ive ever had. We re ordered more than our stomachs could take but did not waste a morsel. Highly highly highly recommend.

By FAR the best place to get a good "parrillada" in town. From the ambience where you can sit and wait while you watch how your "asador" cool the beef youve ordered, to the quality of the dish they bring to your counter table. Oh and all of them with affordable and cheaper price than in Mercado del Puerto. Highly recommended.

One of the greatest restaurants in Montevideo.The meet is amazing, very well prepared, you can ask for individual or to share meets, everything delicious. The place is very small, problably you will need to wait for a desk.The attendants are friendly and fast.The price is also good, cheapier than average .

Five stars for experience alone.I enjoyed the atmosphere more than anything. A great place to experience.I sat at the bar and had full few of the barbecue. How the chef/owner managed I do not know.My steak was good, not great, but, like I said, go for the atmosphere as much as the food. It wont disappoint.

Great place to have lunch or dinner. In the menu you will find the most typical Uruguayan parrilla (bbqto choose from. The place is very small so you might need to wait some time on busy nights but believe me is worthwhile.

I should not say anything about this place because I want to keep it all to myself. Moreover, would hate for it to change. Only place to eat in Montevideo...a real experience. OMG just thinking about it, I am ready to take the 12 hour plane ride again

Great place to go and try an original Uruguayan barbecue. Thats the place the natives go to. The restaurant is simple and service is informal. No fancy panties there.

I simply love this place, the best assado you can get. Small and cozy, inexpensive, good place to eat the best beef in the world. As it is small you better be the first one opening at 7:00, specially on winter when outside is not an option. Worth the waiting if there is a line. Definitely must go place in Montevideo. Everything is good, I simply love the Morcilhas (saltedand Ojo de Bife.

I first discovered this place back in 2007 while wandering around the neighborhood near the mall. Every time we come to MVD, we make a bee-line straight here. The best meat anywhere, especially the Asado del Tiro. The Provoletas are great too and the price and atmosphere cant be beat. I hesitate to recommend it because every time I go theres more people who have found it.

This is not your high end restaurant but more where locals eat. It is very small and crowded but definitely a good place to get the flair of a local Montevideo steak house. We ordered molleja and chorizo for appetizers and then afterwards bife de chorizo with some kind of sweet potato and regular fries. It is really nice if you appreciate local food and atmosphere. It is family owned and the owner is also the cook. Worth visiting.

Best steak ever! We had ribeye, short rib, and flank steak. Service was so friendly! Came highly recommended by our sweet Uber driver.

If you’re looking for a great parrilla experience, definitely go here instead of the Mercado de la Puerta. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you’re getting, and it’s really nice to be able to sit outside to avoid the smoky air. We got three different cuts of steak, plus the provolone and noisette potatoes - more than enough food for three, and all of it was delicious.

Delicious barbecue. Very cozy atmosphere with a few tables outside and spots to sit at the counter inside. Food was fantastic, no frills, just about highlighting the simple, good quality food. Prices were very reasonable.

The barbecue cant be recommended highly enough. Its truly amazing, even considering the very high standards for barbecue in Uruguay. The staff make the experience even better, by being lively and helpful in every way.My only suggestion is for improvements to the drinking options. Other than soda and wine (which wasnt the best fit), only basic cheap beers were offered. Id really enjoy a couple local craft options.

Amazing food, served in a very casual manner. The staff is friendly and fun. Amazing parrilla, and awesome beer.

The best meat Ive tried in UY. They could improve the service a bit, its hard to get the waiters attention, but the meat compensates it.

Beautiful Uruguayan grilled beef. So juicy. They definitely know what "jugoso" means. At the end, we ordered for the last chorizo and was not defeated by the rest of the fresh meat. Wow!

I went alone, and sat right in front of the grill in the lone stool between two groups, and proceeded to have the most spectacular steak of my life. It was a glorious thing to watch. The meat glowed when you held it up to the light, it was almost transparent. And the price was a third of the price of my dinner the previous night. Be warned, the place opens on time, and if you come early, this tiny place is unmarked so be patient, and if youre here twenty minutes after opening, prepare to wait! A highlight of my trip.
