La Pira Maltese Kitchen - Maltese restaurant in Qormi, Malta
Really nice service from Hassan! Smiling and ready to advise with a good choose of wine for the dish! I ate Maltese Rabbit (24€with a glass of red wine(7€)! Perfect size portion, I filled my belly with a lot of good flavors! Will be back one day! ☺️
We had the local rabbit, fried cheese, and parmesan ravioli and it was all great! The rabbit was especially tasty and Id wholly recommend it to anyone looking to try this Maltese staple
Great Traditional food and local wine. Good service
Disaster pseudo restaurant... do not go there! They simply have no idea about serving the customer... we just came in for some short lunch and spent there two hours before we got out angry... food portions are ridiculous! Not too expensive but what they offer is a joke... every time you need sth from the waiter you need to go and ask for it... at the end we waited at least 15 min for the bill... wanted to pay by card but they were explaining sth about internet problems... so we were forced to pay cash and then they cheated with the change by 10 EUR... we didnt even want to discuss with them anymore... we simply left discusted...
Not too enthusiastic about this place. The food and the service were okay, but I didn’t feel like what I had justified the price. It was a bit underseasoned as well, in my opinion. I wasn’t too impressed with the interior of the restaurant either. The desserts were pretty good, however.
On the last night of our honeymoon my husband and I had dinner here just last night having done a bus journey back from St Julian’s. We are so glad we chose this family run restaurant for our last meal. All members of staff we spoke to were delightful and friendly. When we arrived (without reservationand requested to sit inside as outside was very busy they had no hesitation to let us sit here. My husband had the rabbit main and I had the Maltese sausage and Gorgonzola pasta. Both dishes were amazing and we were both full before we could finish our meal, filling and tasty. Thank you so much for making our last dinner a memorable and delicious Maltese traditional meal!!
Very tasty rabbit, but pasta with sausage and gorgonzola was the biggest suprise for us. Recommend it with all my heart!
Best maltese rabbit (receipt with tomato sauce, wine, bay), but other dishes from the menu are poor (supermarket starters - see photo, poor fish soup.
I was a little disappointed. I cant decide if 24 euros is steep for the rabbit. It is an unbalanced dish though. A little less rabbit (lots of rabbit compared to everything else), better potatoes and nicer veg would make it worth it I think. Dont think Id go back.
Nice food but a bit slow serving for a group of 17 person like us
Hands down the best food we had in Valetta. Steaks and mussels were superb. Service attentive and friendly
Excellent lunch - the rabbit stew & rabbit rigatoni are so tasty. The local rose wine was also very good. Cant recommend enough - we will be back next time we are in Malta
Food was excellent. The sword fish ravioli was the winner. Service was cheerful, loved the quirky restroom.
After a long a bit suffocating working day and a quick beer to hydrate we looked around for a place to eat and found LaPira. What a lucky strike it was.Everything from starters to the desserts was fresh, just cooked and really, really delicious. The staff was present when we needed them and gave us enough space to eat and talk without irritating and overbearing service in our face all the time.I do recommend the place from the bottom of my heart.
Food was great and the owner was super friendly! I loved the rabbit pasta and the cocktails were delicious as well.
We had dinner here after a long day and it was amazing. The food was really nice, we recommend the pulled rabbit rigatoni. Also really nice staff and amazing atmosphere.
Very busy place, so you have to wait for your food but its worth it. Rabbit was exquisite, and the ravioli even better. The only thing that would make this place a 5 star experience is a staff which could be more organized than chaotic.
Very banal taste for fish of the day dish.3 out of 10. Not worth your money.
Had the large portion of rabbit stew all by myself. Pasta and traditional sausage was but gamey but the taste was good. Maybe I went a bit early for lunch (as there was a slight delay in servicebut would like to go for dinner when things are busy. Recommend it.
We stopped here for a spot of lunch..We found the service a bit too slow for our liking and we are more patient then most. There was a only a single fan for the outdoor seating area which wasnt adequate. The food was generally good. Maltase rabbit ravioli was nice, although the peas and carrots looked straight out of a frozen bag mix but i might be wrong. In any case the food was nice. The beer appeared flat and poor.
I was surprised! The food was amazing! It stood up to my expectations! The food was music for my taste buds!
Lovely meal at La Pira. All the tables are outside on the street side, and staff was friendly and service was efficient. We shared the calamari fritti for starters - fresh with a light batter and plenty of aioli, followed by Pulled Rabbit Rigatoni with a wine gravy and goats cheese shavings (the goats cheese wasn’t particularly strong, for anyone who hates goats cheese), and Sea Bass with a fish veloute and a bit of radish slices and beetroot, and some delicious roast potatoes with fennel seed. Delicious, though there could have been more sauce (the velouteand more vegetables with the dish. Otherwise hard to fault, and a lovely evening in the warm evening.€65 for one starter, two mains and two drinks.
the food was delicious - nice staff.service at a high level.revelationI recommend
We had a reservation and dropped by here one night due to the high reviews. We ordered the fried cheese and Calamari as starters (reason for any starsand also the Pulled Rabbit Rigatoni and the catch of the day, which was the Lampuki fish. The food took a long time arrive despite it not being very busy. When it arrived, the mains were very disappointing. The pasta had very little rabbit in it and the pasta itself was far too firm. I’d have settled for Al dente but this was almost like it had just started to cook before they pulled it. The Lampuki was lacking any real flavour and we had to spend a lot of time picking out the loads of tiny bones out ourselves. This place is very overrated and we didn’t enjoy the mains or the long wait to receive them. The only reason for any stars is because the fried cheese and calamari were very good.
Good quality. I give 4 stars only because some details are missing. The restaurant is extremely nice but if you want 5 stars you should focus more on the starters and attention to the service.
Amazing experience. I am Italian and I can say that the pasta was perfectly cooked. Prices are slightly high but you are right in the center. Professional waiters and good location. Reccomended
Looking for some authentic Maltese cuisine? Then this is the place to chose. This is where i had the local rabbit stew. We also had a delicious swordfish ravioli. The tastes will amaze you! As for the desserts, i am speechless. I really recommend the local date filled pastries. As a plus, I had a Kinnie Spritz! The staff are always available and respectful
An Amazing service, delicious tasting food & menu. You can literally smell every dish that passes you by.... AND The boys are quick & switched on! Wishing this Restaurant continued success. We will be back!
Very good food but the service was really long, we almost wait for 1 hour before getting our dishes. We took the Local rabbit - well recommended 👌
We were pleasantly surprised by the food here after stopping into what we assumed was a tourist trap! The swordfish ravioli was delicious and as was the dessert of the day. A tad expensive but that’s expected for the area. Would recommend overall
Even though it is a crowded place, booking a table with short notice was no problem. The crew was friendly, checking a few times but still very kindly and little extra changes were also no problem. The food that was not very cheap, tasted like it was not from this world…if we knew about this restaurant earlier, we would have come definitely another time!!!
Great rabbit stew and rabbit rigatoni. We also tried the local wine and the local dates desert with icecream. Highly recomend this place for a traditional malteze delocious dinner.
Good quality. Perfect place to taste the maltese rabbit and the mussels and fries.
My siblings and I dined at the restaurant at the suggestion of my hotel, Casa Lapira, which are family owned enterprises. We dined alfresco and had a lovely meal with wine and drinks. The food was delicious
Great outside and indoor space to relax and eat or drink. Fast and friendly service. I had a filling Risotto Gamberi with a Cisk. Tasty food and good options. They even do daily food specials.
Entrée: Maltese style rabbit liver and lightly battered squidMains: pan friend seabass and swordfish ravioliI cant decide which one is the best 😂
I have to rate with only 2 stars because:- the food is not that bad, 3 stars for the food- the service is way too bad, the waitress seems like had a bad day and there was no any service actually, not even basic words like thank you or goodbye. So 1 star for the service. But the chef was nice.
Rabbit stew was very tasty and big enough for one hungry person. We were very happy with the service, staff were very attentive.
Very nice staff, really great food! We had rabbit and pasta with rabbit also an octopus and it was really tasty! Although there were not so many people at 13h, still very very good! Recommend!
Nice restaurant in the center of Valletta. Diner in a good atmosphere and courteous service. Small menu with local dishes of high quality. A recommendation for those who are interested in Maltas local cuisine.
I had a really nice dining experience in this restaurant. The food was really tasty and I had the pleasure of trying some local specialties. The staff was friendly and the service was good overall. I would come back again!
Tasty wine and delicious food… what else do you need?! The dish tasted out-of-ordinary. You will not find it anywhere else. I loved it.Highly recommended.
It’s good! I think my fried octopus lacked a bit of seasoning. The dessert made up for it though. We both ordered a local Imqaret with ice cream and it was the best we had in malta so far.
I had the rabbit stew and it tasted very good. Great location, friendly waitstaff, reasonable prices, and good food, an overall nice dining experience. Would eat here again.
Best Maltese restaurant in Malta in La Valletta ☻The employees are adorable, always here and often ask if everything’s going well. The food is really good and the service is fast.It is located in the street so there’s a lot of passengers. But nothing to worry!I highly recommend to try this place!!!
Ended up at La Pira by chance a couple of days ago while visiting Valletta and didn’t regret our choice. The service was impressive - we got excellent recommendations of what to do around Malta and how to get around the island from our friendly server (a pity we didn’t get his name, he was genuinely so nice! Can’t recommend enough based only on this, but the food was also spectacular. I had the octopus and my husband had the rabbit stew - both were delicious and well served portions!
Very good Maltese Cousine. They have vegetarian options also. Side salad was very tasty with dried tomatoes. My husband had Traditional Rabbit dish with side potatoes (in oven)- very nice spices... he was very satisfied. Tagliatelle with fish, cherry tomatoes and edamame were very tasty. I recommend this restaurant.
This was our first meal after arriving in Malta. I thoroughly enjoyed our meal of rabbit liver/truffle pasta (noodle), octopus stew and a starter with Maltese sausage. The location is central and was close to the hotel we chose to stay at. Service is friendly and reasonably paced. I would consider this pretty standard for level of service and was happy with it. Pricing is reasonable as well. We ate outside under their umbrellad street seating and were quite happy with it. It is close to other restaurants so the atmosphere is busy and cozy but spacious enough that I didnt spend my time elbowing my neighbours. Would return and recommend.
Great service and excellent food. I had the rabbit liver pasta. It was really good. I also liked their homemade cheesecake. The staff was friendly and happy to answer my questions. Highly recommended.
Its a good place, ideal for lunch, has lovely space outside, lovely starters. I had the Maltese sausage as a starter which was great! Ravioli with cheese as main what it was too oily for me. I wouldnt give 5 stars because of the service, its pretty slow and for such a small place its unacceptable. I saw one group leaving because they couldnt wait longer. I waited more than 20 min to order. Friendly but not professional.
