La Paz in Solola

Its the paradise. I went for lunch and the burrito dish was generous and amazing. The staff are incredibly nice and they offer lot of free events like Music and relax workshops.

I loved my stay at La Paz & would come back. This reviews is for 4ppl cabaña and a dormitory bed.(+In the cabaña, I loved the whole design - natural materials, super nice bathroom, in the middle of the jungle. Very tranquil feel.(+Dormitory has one of the most spaces talking size I have seen in dorms! Don’t expect squeezed bunk beds, but plenty of space and upper level even has a little balcony.(+Daniel is very kind person, caring and doing his job really well.(+Plenty of activities (workshops, breathwork, yoga - probably most at my time in San Marcos).(-Bathrooms in dorms would need some love and reconstruction(-In cabaña, the doors dont properly seal and therefore I had few huge spiders inside. For an arachnofibic, not very pleasant. :But it’s part of a jungle setting surrounded by nature so I dealt with it.Overall a very nice and I would definitely come back. Calm and cozy place.

This review is only for the spa. The massage services are out of this world. So glad we stumbled upon this spot. I got the Ayurvedic massage. The indoor massage room was nice and clean, in the middle of all the beautiful plants and trees. The masseuse really knew what she was doing. She used warm oil which was amazing. Her techniques were very nice. I haven’t felt this relaxed after a massage in so long. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the spa services to anyone. The birds chirping is also so nice! Make sure you go here first as soon as you arrive in San Marcos and put your name down because it takes 45 mins or more to get a time slot.

La Paz is a beautiful place. Rooms are too pricey for my budget but the kundalini yoga and a few other sessions I did were great and it’s all very natural and jungly

Overall a good stay, with a few issues. San Marcos is more expensive than what we expected. We have visited Panajachel and San Pedro many times. This was our first excursion to San Marcos. La Paz charged us Q400 for a bungalow for 3-4 people. Certainly spiders and others can get in the cracks, but we only found 3 spiders inside during our 2 night stay. We visited during the busy season. Plus it was Valentines Day and week of the full moon. Staff told us we would need to move to another bungalow for our second night because ours was reserved. We packed up all of our stuff and prepared to move. But then they told us we could stay one more night. We decide to move to less expensive lodging with breakfast included the next day. Seeing as how to we had to pack up all of our stuff again, why not try something new and save some money. We let staff know that we planned to leave. They responded by asking us to leave by 10am, even though check out is at 11am. They didnt offer us anything to leave early. It felt very inhospitable of staff to ask us to leave early without any compensation. WiFi didnt reach our bungalow so we had to go to the common area to use the internet. Guitar for guests to play in common area was nice. Hot shower was plenty hot both days we tried. The Guatemalan owner seemed very friendly and accommodating. He was not around when staff asked us to leave early. Big beautiful gardens and relaxed vibe.

Un lugar muy tranquilo con habitaciones, chalets y restaurante, el jardín es hermoso y muy bien cuidado, tienen muchas plantas de café y flores dentro de los jardines, Flora es la chica del restaurante que nos atendió, es muy atenta y amable, buen sabor en todo, no pueden dejar de probar la leche dorada o golden milk, es la mejor de San Marcos probé 4 diferentes

This place is lovely and peaceful, very jungle vibes. We stayed in the four bed room with a private bath and had a great experience. Bed and pillow wasn’t the comfiest, but acceptable. They also have dorm beds available. Wish they gave access to a kitchen. Staff was nice and helpful. Conveniently located. Definitely the best option in San Marcos that we found. I don’t believe you can book online, though.

There is not much more I could have asked for. The sauna was very comfortable, food fresh and one of the more affordable in the area and the morning yoga was given by talented instructors.

I think that la paz Is One of the best spots in San Markus well hidden with cozzy jungle environment. The food is healthy and good for vegetarian and vegan as well. The price in the restaurant was decent. We didnt stay in the hotel but for food is perfect. We got their massage that was a bit complicated to make appointment. And we saw that the offer yoga in a very beautiful and calm environment.

Healthy and freshly made dishes, fairly priced and in a lovely environment. The local ladies are kind and accommodating in the restaurant. Ive eaten here four times and recommend the pad thai...Also received a massage and it was decent. The massage worker had good communication and was immediately available.Cute cat hangs out there too... Animal Friendly is a bonus.

A San Marcos classic

Yes, the garden and location are great. But this is how we experienced it: arrived in the evening. Table full of people watching us throwing some indecent, misplaced and show-off comments. Turned around assuming we were in the wrong place and arrived later at the same place - turned out this was indeed the place we where looking for! Guy running the gig (also at the table!helped us showing our room. Was obviously stoned. Was very confused and did not know the simple features e.g. where the light switches were etc. Room itself: dead spiders all over the place and next to the (very usedmatrasses on the floor. In the roof there were some rhodents keeping us awake chewing the roof. In general: hospitality was bad, forgetting to put our keys outside when out, therefore getting locked out, stoned, and rooms were a bit on the dirty side.

Better options in town

This review is on the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good. I have had the “enrolladas de de acelga” and Pad Thai was delicious. The homemade bread is also really good.

Amazing! Great food especially if your a vegetarian. They give filling portions and know that vegetarians actually like more food, not less. The balcony is beautiful to eat on. Beautiful garden and the arceteture is authentic in style. They also have massages and yoga at a very affordable rate.

Extremely friendly staff, outstanding food and a jungle like garden make this place a little oasis. The spacious semi private rooms are located in a natural stone- and wood-built sidehouse with a neat shared bathroom. I enjoyed my stay a lot and cant remember any other place during my travel where I felt as relaxed and comfortable as here.

Food is really great here, great vegetarian and vegan options. All the food is prepared fresh and you can taste the difference.

Horrid unsympathetic experience. Although this place has a beautiful yoga deck and the dormitory is pretty, the food is mediocre and I had a highly unpleasant experience with the manager - I was really sick (in a lot of pain and unable to leave bedand when I realised I needed to get to a doctor and head to Antigua asap, I checked out when I was able to, at 3pm - when I asked politely whether he could make an exception to paying the next night since Id been so ill and knew they hadnt booked the bed, the manager got defensive and angry and started lecturing me on how things were in my country (despite not knowing where I was fromand attacking me on attitudes hed decided I held. There are numerous more charming options in town.

The atmosphere is a beautiful garden setting and private. Not too many tables to sit at. Service was poor and I was basically ignored. The cook brought my food out to me and sneezed without covering their mouth while delivering. Had the Pad Thai, it was alright. Food in San Marcos is pretty disappointing over all, especially for folks with dietary restrictions, which you wouldnt think from a hippie town... but all the hippie kids seem to eat burritos, burgers and pizza.

The location is beautiful with all the plants and nice buildings. The restaurant is great, the women have a sense for preparing food. The staff is friendly. The dorm was different without high beds and within very big rooms. We had Mich more space then in most other hostels. The yoga area is big and within green surroundings a nice place to do it. The Maya sauna worth trying out as well. The place has a sense of esoteric, but this is San Marco in general. Everybody who doesnt like such surroundings should go to another village. Im not really an esoteric guy, but enjoyed the positive and friendly spirit, of the la paz as well the village. Quite recreating!

Only had breakfast and it was excellent.

I hardly feel this place deserves a star, the management is appalling , it was an agony to even get a booking as emails etc. were not answered ,then to top it off there was no hot water for the 3 days we were there, and no towels until we asked and to ice the cake we had a cabana with 4 beds (2 loft),and they were so uncomfortable (we tried all out hoping for a better sleep)that we were in pain and near tears. And the allies and walkways are so poorly (notlit that it was difficult to find entrance to establishment at night. (Solar lights would work wonders). And when we did contact management to let him know our views he was very offensive.

Was not particularly blown away by this hotel. The room was indoor/outdoor feel with thatch roof, which made for an adjustment to living with spiders and cockroaches (to be expected). Didnt eat at the restaurant as there were too many other good vegetarian options in town. The onsite yoga class was very worth it.

Nice place but bad service for that price. If you have no towel its because you should have asked, and if there is no hot water its not their fault either.. They just didnt seem to care.
