La Ó - Restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
AMAZING!!! Excellent cocktails and food is on another level. Amazing place, my best recommendations!
Interior is nice as well as menu booklet.Food is nothing special. Meat portions are tiny. Too much of fried food in menu. Cheap silverware/dinnerware.
The pizza was really good and prices are fair. Lemonade was too bitter. The waiter was nice
Loved the atmosphere and vibe of this place. Very good pizza and a great drink selection.
Was rushed out by the host even though it was not busy. They also let dog drink out of glasses that are for human consumption at the dinner table.
Excellent service and great tasting pizza. 💯
This place was recommended when I was at Scryer and it did not disappoint. I had their Mezcal drink and a Pizza, both were delicious.
Loved this place. Very yummy tapas as well as delicious pizza and artisan drinks.
Pizzas and tapas. Great food and service. Especially reccomend lamb sliders.
Amazing! We went here twice on our trip in San Juan. We had two different types of pizzas each time and they were good. The gluten free crust is also amazing!
TL;DR: The ambience was very nice inside but it was a bit frustrating that they allowed people to vape inside. The waiter also took nearly 20 minutes to come by. We almost left because of it. Food is cooked well but slightly under seasoned.Service: The server was generally nice but very late getting to our table. Given his flustered nature I would assume that the issue was that they were understaffed for the night. Maybe not the best front of house management for a Friday night. But I imagine your experience may vary in regards to this.Food:Arancini - Whomever fried these arancinis is a master. They were fried to absolute perfection! One of the best fried arancinis Ive ever had and I live in a city with a very heavy Italian presence. Kudos to whomever the cook on Friday April 29th, 2022 was. Unfortunately, the arancinis are a bit under seasoned. It was very unfortunate to bite into the most perfectly fried arancinis just to find very little flavor. Id recommend seasoning the arancinis more and including just a little more of the tomato sauce, as it wasnt nearly enough.San Juan Pizza - This is essentially just a pepperoni pizza. But it is definitely made well. The dough is perfect, making me feel that theyre using the same starter as what is traditionally used for a traditional margherita pizza. If thats the case, it was a good move. This pizza was very nice and I recommend it.Drinks:Maracurye - This drink had a perfect balance of sweetness. I definitely have no complaints about this drink. It was very good.
Loved this spot. My wife and I went out in our anniversary and found this spot just perfectly in San Juan and I wasnt expecting much of it but we were both impressed. Totally recommend.
Its cozy, beautifully inviting and with a speakeasy vibe that makes you want to visit again and again.Great drinks and delicious food!
I called around 11am to see if they were taking reservations. Mind you, the person who answered the phone spoke + understood English very clearly. I asked specifically if they had any reservations available at 7 pm. They replied (VERY CLEARLY"We do not accept reservations." I then asked my Spanish speaking friend to call...(3MINUTES later. He called, and asked for a reservation in Spanish, and was instantly given a reservation for 7pm.I dont care the quality of the food. If you arent going to cater to the travelers giving you business I wont give you a good review regardless of your food. There are plenty of other great restaurants in the area that will happily accept your service. Go there instead.
I was starving arriving in San Juan on a Monday night where most restaurants were closed yet I would’ve preferred starving over the disappointment that was La O. The food is some strange Americana mishmash of different cultures. Chorizo and blue cheese stuffed mushroom is like a sad cheese burger/cob salad imitation. Bland arancini balls that was just… Substance. Lamb rack that tastes burnt without much other flavour and “sautéed vegetables” that consists mostly of soggy julienned peppers and onions. The most atrocious dish was the saffron seafood risotto where the calamari and octopus were like rubber and the shrimp was beyond salty while the rice was too textured to be al dente. The saving grace is the flavourful and strong cocktails. Perhaps I would’ve been better off ordering a pizza…
The food and cocktails were very delicious.I took off one star because of the air conditioner, it was very cold inside.
Awsome Pizza ... Awesome Coctails... Awesome Service!!
Food and drinks are excellent, the service was super slow for some reason which took away one star for us but really cool interior decor, cocktails are great, and food is good and reasonably priced for the quality and area.
The best pizza I’ve ever had. The crust is incredible! The toppings are fresh. Stuffed bell pepper is amazing! Great atmosphere, good prices.
Good food, good service, prices are high but fair, considering the quality. Wouldnt recommend going with more than 1 or 2nother people, however, as the tables are circular, and thus they cant really move the tables together comfortably.
The ambiance, service, meal selection all great. I have had artesanl pizza at other places, but I thoroughly enjoyed the prep and taste of it. Fresh and tasty. In addition menu selections were varied. Were coming back to eat seafood and meat items. Located in OSJ it actually makes great use of its space with indoor/outdoor dining. Really interesting cocktails too. Another plus is you can deviate a bit from the regular menu and add/exchange any ingredient. Highly recommend!!?
Got an early dinner-no wait. Cocktail was good, I got the rosemary crazy. Also got the Santa Maria pizza, cheese with sausage.
Horrible experience. Waited 30 mins before getting our drinks (just beer in a bottle). An hour before our 2 pizzas got to table. And server forgot to put in our appetizers. Ordered a second beer when the food arrived, and they didn’t bring it over until we were all finished eating. Food was mediocre, but we were probably so hungry anything would’ve been good.Do yourself a favor and go to Pirilo instead if you’re in the mood for pizza and good food.
We’ve had so much incredible food in Puerto Rico but I can say this was the best. We didn’t have pizza but the skirt steak, risotto, hummus and shrimp were amazing! The atmosphere was incredible and the staff were awesome!
Hair in my food. Drinks were nice but they also came at different amounts. I and one of the people I was with ordered the same drink twice for a total of 4 drinks. And the 4 drinks came in different amounts. The food itself is really good but hair and inconsistencies in the servings with somewhat lax attention from staff made for an otherwise forgettable experience.Has a lot of potential to be way better.
Got to this place after work hoping for some good pizza and I was not disappointed. Good place to relax with your coworkers, friends or family. The pizza was great and so was the customer service.
This place is super slow! Expect to wait 30min for "each" drink... they dont bring all drinks at the same time. The octopus is chewy/gooey. Not coming back. Even the bill took 1hr to bring, and the bathrooms are DISCUSTING!
Phenomenal cocktails, superb old fashioned, excellent food.
The goal of eating at La Ó was simple...how good is the pizza? We were not disappointed by the least...ordered the 16 inch San Miguel and it was perfectly baked. Additionally, the crust was not thick and the toppings were plentiful. The only postre offered at the time was an oven fired lemon pie in a porcelain round dish, which was a bit sweet but also tangy. It was perfect for two. 5 stars and two thumbs up for a fantastic evening with quick service!
Gabriel was a terrific server and made the experience even better. I went with the beer salad & mother Mary cocktail and was very pleased. The vibe is modern and welcoming and the menu seems well thought out and delicious.
One of the best spots in Old San Juan. The cocktails are incredible and the food was so tasty. Try the beet salad and gluten free pizza. Yum! Loved sitting outside on the patio too.
Walked in place looked empty but server at the front said there we no tables. Need one for 2. He was kind and took our phone number said he would call us right away when a table was ready. Instead of walking away or leaving which is what he probably expected us to do we stood outside because of the decent reviews. We watched 10 people exit the restaurant as well as a new party walk in with 6 people and get service. My girlfriend walked in and asked if the table was ready. He said sorry his “manager said no more seats”. We literally watches this man happily assist other customers. He did give us the option of ordering to go but reallly would you order after that?!!! Zero stars!
Our "go to place" when nobody has time to cook dinner. Everyone loves the artesian Pizzas & they serve great cocktails while you wait for it to come fresh & yummy out of the oven.
I really love this restaurant. The cocktails are amazing. My favorites are San Pepino and Rosemarys Crazy. I love the mac n cheese (and I dont even like cheese, is that good). I also like the hummus and the grilled chicken breast with sauteed potatoes. Wow
La Ó is your favorite hole-in-the-wall, laid back restaurant in OSJ. We got some awesome drinks, great appetizers, and artisan pizzas. Our friends, however, waited 1.5 hrs for their main meal. We understand it was fairly busy, and late in the evening (prior to curfewbut it did not excuse the poor service we had. We were constantly told over the course of an hour that the food “was on it’s way”, which was clearly not true. Once the main meal was here, it was obvious that the main food was not worth the wait. Overall, I enjoyed my time with friends and a few drinks, but it was not thanks to the the service.
Pizza was AMAZING!!! Some of the best I have ever eaten. A variety of different pizzas. Fries were also very good. Just the bread they use for the food was an A for me. I never thought I would find pizza this great in Porta Rico but I did. If ever in San Juan Porta Rico seriously, come here!
Good food, service and drinks in a very funky venue in Old San Juan. All the food we tried was great, with the grilled octopus being the sole exception. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. Definitely give this place a try. You wont be disappointed.
It is not only for pizza!!!! Mediterranean food restaurant at its best that happens to have pizza.Great atmosphere, cozzy, nice music and great service. Juvenile yet conservative. Will be back soon.
Came across this place by chance and it was excellent. Friendly staff, warm ambience, and excellent food! Reasonable prices. Delicious octopus, beet salad, flan...and more.
Back in PR, walked the beautiful streets of Old San Juan and came into this joint. Restaurant is beautiful and food was tasty. I can say I’ve had better but this was well worth it while walking the old San Juan strip. Loved it!
I cant believe I didnt take any pictures! This place was very different from most restaurants in America. Its elegant and theres an option for outside seating in a nice garden area. Everyone I was with ordered the specialty pizzas and they said it was okay, but we all agreed that the chicken I ordered was the best
Great food, especially the lamb sliders, octopus, artichoke dip, and fried seafood. The drinks are amazing! The pizza was mostly good - got one with caramelized onions and balsamic and it was too sweet. BUT they were great about replacing it after noticing I didnt like it. Great service goes a long way!
Had 6 folks for dinner last night, nice setting if a bit dark. Local artist exibit added a nice touch. Menu with lots of choices and types of food, so I was a bit leery. We were so impressed!! Calamari was the best we ever had, amazing stuffed mushrooms, lamb sliders to die for, AND the pizza was great. Staff was on top of their game, we will return!! Strongly recommend!
Everything about this place is killer! The staff was super helpful and fun and interacted with us during our late night “double dinner”We stopped in for dessert but ended up ordering some appetizers first and then dessert. Food was super tasty, large portions and unique! The zucchini and eggplant chips and coconut flan was divine! The decor was so good (we called it Gothic Catholicand really added to the entire vibe.We will come back if I’m in PR again!
The food was vibrant, like soooo good! Had an amazing waiter. The beer selection was very nice, their mixed drinks were delicious. The place manages to mix the historic vibe with a modern twist, add the lighting and its a super romantic atmosphere. They have an indoor patio that is so beautiful... On the parking situation, youll be lucky to find something on the street, so theres a walk involved in the experience, but its through Old San Juan so no harm no foul. Its pricey for the portion but well worth it, highly recommend it.
Delicious! The grilled octopus was especially good!
Amazing concept, that makes you appreciate the effort put into every detail of the place, from menu items names to general decor. Beautiful staff and gourmet food. I sincerely enjoyed my visit.
Excellent service, amazing food and the best cocktails. 😍
Excellent pizza, just right crust thickness and very creative toppings. A very cool menu where every pizza is named after a saint. Excellent beer selection too, with at least 80 varieties. The inside is also very nice and brand new renovated. Highly recommend!
An ingenious concept, I must admit! Every plate, every decoration is well thought, including the decorations in the restrooms. The pizza is delicious, but the wine... just order a cola with your pizza.
