Traditional Spanish & Mexican dishes are served at this unpretentious, compact restaurant.
Amazing staff, menu, atmosphere, and prices. Their mofongo is amazing. Highly recommend it!
Awesome place!!! the food service and prices are just right!!!
Food was great, its my go to when coming from San Antonio π customer service always good & never had to wait long
I went in looking for some Puerto Rican cooking and I have to say they definitely threw down in that kitchen ! I had the yellow rice with pigeon peas and roast pork shoulder with sweet plantains! It was all so delicious! I will definitely be a repeat customer! It was the only Puerto Rican food restaurant open on Sunday to top it off. So thank you for being open, up and running on a Sunday !
Alcapurrias, mofongo con carne frita y side de caldito de pollo... Reminds me of Puerto Rico west in Joyuda! Mmm. So good. Excellent and very friendly service, music was good, more salsa would be nice though ;)I plan to be back as often as possible!
Service is excellent, however the food not so much, unfortunately. Arroz con gandules doesnt taste like it, taste like white rice w color. Carne frita its really good, soft n tasty. Bistec encebollado served a lot but doesnt taste, like it wasnt seasoned. Ill go back for the mofongo n will c if will go back after the 2nd try.
The food here is amazing and so tasty
I love the food i order from here! My favorites are the pastelon, jibarito, the pork chops with rice and beans or rice with plaintains. A litlle bit expensive for me but worth it as a special treat once in awhile.
Awesome tasting food, i did not expect it to be so flavorfull and i was surprised. Arroz con gandules was very good and my beef steak and onions were delicious. The tostones were very crispy the way i like it. I will definitely return for more of my island food!π. Great service too!
Love the place!! Food and service was awesome !
I have to give La Garita one star today because its the second time I drive from Austin(following schedule on Google maps only to find it closed. Please update on Google!
This is an excellent restaurant for traditional Puerto Rican π΅π· dishes. The owners provide a personal experience and can make any dish you can imagine from your youth. I highly recommend this location for people in the Killeen area.
I havent had the pleasure of eating thier food yet but I just have to say this is an amazing place . I went into pick up an Uber order and the atmosphere is so relaxing. Great music playing in background. The food smells amazing and you can tell its some good home cooked Puerto Rican and Tex-Mex cuisine prepared from experience. The staff that was in there were so welcoming and friendly ,while also making sure everything thing is taken care of for you. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone of any age π
The food had a very tasty flavor as usual, great place to eat, the service was great and friendly people, would recommend to everyone.
Food was very tasty. Loved the empanadas, specially the carne ones. A little hot inside, but worth to eat here. Food is fresh. Service is really good too.
Big portions, delicious flavor and great service.
Great authentic puerto rican food.*Changing my review because the second time I ordered from here not a single item in my order had any flavor and the food was swimming in oil. Not at all like my first visit.
Very authentic puertorrican food, excellent service, family friendly, I feel like home π΅π·. My family new favorite place to go and have a delicious π food.
My husband and I love the food. Victor is always polite and the staff here are always welcoming. When we eat in the restaurant we love the music and vibe. Would like to have a birthday dinner for my husband here. Might be hard since its not that big, but its worth a shot talking to Victor.
Food was authentic and good. Service was very good as well, will be definitely be back for homemade PR food.
Tremendo, awesome food , recommended to all ..
The owner of La Garita, Victor Correa Botello served a catering service at my house, as we celebrated a reharsal luncheon for my sons wedding. Mr. Correa service was impeccable and food was delicious. Catering services and food from La Garita are highly recommended.
Been waiting for over an hour for 2 mofongos, im given my food and they forgot something. Now its another 5 minutes till its "ready" havent even tried the food yet...EDIT- The food was kind of bland, pork had no flavor and looked old. Food is a 2 /10 overall not going again.
Their food is always delicious. Just right with the seasoning. If you like more seasoning just add it to your food. Their prices are great for the food you buy. Iβve been ordering or dining in for many years. Their food is the best in Killeen. Iβve tried them all & I always recommend La Garita.
Amazing service. Staff was friendly and attentive. The place isnβt that big but they keep it clean and fresh. Food was amazing. First time here so I got the lunch special if pernil, mofongo, salad, rice & beans. Great prices. Definitely recommend.
Great Service and very good food, we had a group of 7 people and everybody was extremely happy and satisfied with the food. Highly recommend and will definitely come back more often.
The food is delicious and fresh. They make everything FRESH. I LOVED IT. Will be going back soon.
Very, nice restaurant, the owners were very welcoming.
Im often nostalgic for food from the island. I may know how to cook some dishes but never as good as mom. My hope when I find a Puerto Rican restaurant is that good food memory. This place delivered. The fried fish (red snapperwas delicious. So few places fry it whole! The mofongo was yum. It went well with the mayo ketchup. The arroz con gandules was the only thing mom does way better, but they still did a tasty version. The alcapurria was so good. And the burrito was for my husband, who was surprised by the sauce though I wasnt. They use a criollo-style sauce which he didnt expect. My tastebuds, however, thought it tasted like home.
I ate here yesterday on the 17th of January 2021 and I paid $18 for a combo plate and they gave me 3 shrimp and 3 pieces of pork cubes. I guess I paid for the salad as my side. I was HIGHLY upset and disappointed
Food was great, not that many choices but the ones there were enough. Friendly service. The passion fruit juice was on point. Reasonable prices
Clean, delicious food and excellent service, I definitely recommend it, Ill be back soon.
This is crazy because I used to love this place. I used to come here a lot and the food was so so good. I remember a very sweet older lady at the counter taking orders. I would always order the pork chops, white rice and beans, and let me tell you that meal was everything. Today, I made a to-go order and I ordered the same pork chops, white rice and beans that I ordered a years ago. The food was not the same at all and thatβs very disappointing because I wanted to love the meal but it was not the same. The pork chops were very salty and fried really hard. They give you a ton of rice with very little beans and the flavor of the beans was not the same, they put the fried plantains in the same container as the other food, which made them soft and not crispy. Iβm not sure who runs this restaurant now, but the meal that I had today was not even close to what it used to be and thatβs very sad.
I have been to this place a few times and never had a bad experience but the last time I went, a few days ago I left the place very disappointed. The restaurant was not clean, in bad shape, there where cockroaches death everywhere and alive too. The food was not as it used to be. Sadly Iβm never coming back. Presentation is important when you visit a place, and cleanness too.
The roasted pork with white rice and maduros was exactly as I wanted. The amount of flavor that was in the pork left me wanting more then the already huge portions that I had recieved!!!!! And I mean big portions especially for such a great price. Service was good and routinely checked in on us as well. My partner did not much enjoy the shrimp dish he ordered due to lack of flavor
My food was not good at all. The rice was hard, pernil amd empanadas lacked flavor. In my opinion, 2 stars is being generous. They had the AC set at 86, and it was so hot. Very disappointed.
The food was excellent. I recommend the fried pork chunks with shrimp with salsa on the side. The beef and chicken empanadas were delicious! Great customer service from start to finish.
Hadnt been here in so long. I asked for the deluxe burrito and the waitress tried to warn me π. She was very kind to everyone at the table and made sure we had enough time to look over the menu. Everyones food was great and it came out pretty quickly. The place is super clean and the atmosphere is really chill. I will definitely come again.
My daughter took me to this wonderful restaurant and as soon as I walked in It made you feel comfortable the food was GREAT it was served fresh and hot.The owner was very nice and he did talk to everyone as if he knew them. When I come back I am going to make sure I go there firstπ
I still remember this restaurant. I am from Converse, and I am gonna be bold/strong about this. I am Puerto Rican myself, and the quality food is fantastic where/when I grew up. I know what the real taste con ese arroz gandules (Goyait should be like, and the rest of the meat. It is top-notch. I will never forget this location. If I drive the road for a summer vacation then I will definitely come back again. Patiently great service and highly recommend.
I called ahead of time to order a dozen pasteles on Veterans Day. When I arrived a few minutes early, one of the owners greeted us and welcomed us in. Other people had been waiting outside for the restaurant to open as well. We decided to order lunch to go besides the pasteles. My husband asked if they had any specials. The young man taking our order told us that they had two lunch specials for Veterans Day. The lunch specials were free to veterans. My husband picked the chicken with rice and plantains and I picked the pork chop with rice and tostones. Both lunch specials were to die for!!! The staff goes out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with their service and food. Bring the whole family to enjoy a delicious meal in a welcoming and relaxing environment. They also keep a clean restroom which makes your experience even more enjoyable.
Food is super yummy and the service is greatEveryone is very nice and they even made fresh hot pepper sauce just because I asked for it. Would definitely recommend!
Great food, great service, amazing and authentic Puerto Rican food.
Great simple casual eating in Kileen. If you want to experience other than Mexican Hispanic cuisine this place does a great job. I had the empanada and masitas Pollo which were a flashback to growing up in New York. Super value in price and delicious!
The food was good. I love Puerto Rican food. Im came with my co worker. She knew alot of the dishes. Shes from Puerto rico. Service wasnt that welcoming. Although I will come back.
I ordered the shrimp mofongo and a side order of rice with was almost $19 dollars and it was nasty and not worth $10 dollars. They over charge for their food and its plain and nasty. The mofongo was dry, they gave me the ketchup and mayonnaise sauce for shrimp with mofongo and did put the other sauce. The shrimp was separated from the mofongo, the dish was not made correctly. The only good thing was the rice. Dont waste your time coming to this place. I was better off going to the health food store on 2nd Street then coming here.
Great service and the food is amazing
Coming straight from NY to moving out here. This is the best place to come too that reminds me of food from back home! The mofongo is awesome! The food is great. Perfectly seasoned. Great portions & great prices. The only place I come to get my Puerto Rican fix. The people who work there are so nice & welcoming. . I will definitely recommend to this place to other people!
Excellent food and amazing portions. The staff is really friendly and accommodating.
It has changed owners but despite the change the quality of food has remained exceptional. If you need a quick k bite to eat or want to sit down and have a good dinner, I recommend this place. Good variety and k ow opens for breakfast in which you can get some tacos and Mexican food as well. Good variety.
