La Forchetta Ristorante - Italian restaurant in Quesada, Costa Rica
Excellent dinner! Highly recommend this great little gem. We had focaccia and a charcuterie board to start. Next was Vongole pasta, Osso Buco ravioli, and a cheese pizza. Ended with panna cotta and a chocolate dessert that I can’t remember the name. The pizza was absolutely fantastic. The pasta was fresh. We would go back tomorrow if we weren’t heading to another part of CR.
The Food is tasty and the service is very good and kind. Definetly a recommendation :)
Real Italian food with high quality, the service was 100.
Very friendly service with people who are obviously happy and willing to let that spill into your life! Many pastors many sauces. Nice selection of bottles of wine available. Easy parking good location.
Fresh pizza and tasty pasta. The staff was good, place is small yet neat. Must try in La Fortuna!
Great food, authentically Italian, really nice atmosphere and reasonably priced
Absolutely delicious italian food and great service! Lovely place.
Delish seafood soup, ceviche. Chicken with rice and beans sounds boring but wow it was great! Our waiter Abel was very good too!
Celebrated my daughters birthday. The service was great and the food was delicious. Pizza was huge and we ordered two thinking they would be small. Had plenty left over.
Grew up in New Jersey then transplanted to Denver Colorado USA. This pizza is better than any pizza in Colorado and is top 5 on my list of all time. Dave Portnoy would give it a 9 imo. The chicken Marsala was maravilloso. Great service and very friendly. They use coffee wood in the pizza oven.
Came here based on the reviews and it was undoubtedly not just the best pizza in La Fortuna but also some of the best I’ve ever had. Not just saying that for the sake of this review either, I did the build your own pizza and it came out perfect! Next time I am in La Fortuna I’ll be making a stop here again!
We loved this place so much we had to come back twice during our stay in La Fortuna! The pizzas and pastas are delicious and fresh. The staff are so nice and they really make you feel welcome! Looking forward to coming back again next time we are in the area!
It was a very good, typical Italian pizza, which was baked in a traditional pizza oven. You can assemble your own pizza. The prices are also good and very friendly personal!
If you’re looking for great Italian food with amazing service, this is the place to be in La Fortuna. The pizzas are freshly made in the pizza oven and taste very nice! The gnocchi we ate was delicious!
The food was OK. But I eat in A LOT of restaurants and it wasn’t too great. We had a pizza with ham on it bit there was barely any ham. The atmosphere is nice but the seats are uncomfortable.Bizarrely we weren’t offered any drinks, and they were v confused when the bill came and there weren’t any drinks on it. After we finished the mains we got ignored for a while so just decided to get up and go get the bill.
Delicious appetizers and very good, italian style pizza with nice crispy dough. The waiters are very kind and helpful. Also good nice selection of italian wines. We had a very nice, elegant Orvieta as an aperitivo.
Service was great and a cute place to eat. However the food was OK, but (personallynot the best italian we have eaten so far and a bit more expensive. The portions were nice and big (we even took the rest of the pizza to our hotel as a snack)
Burned Basil on a Margherita, where on this planet do pizzaoili put basil on the pizza before putting it in the oven?!!!Burned on the side as well..everyone got a huge pizza on their dining tables , one of the reasons we choose this place (cause we wanted to shareBUT as we ordered for takeaway the pizza wasnt even half as big! And there was really no taste to the pizza. Huge disappointment. But the 2 Stars are for the super super friendly 2 old guys that asked every 10 mins of we needed something. Too bad we looked at the pizza when we were already in our bnb.
If you’re looking for good Italian food in La Fortuna, we recommend avoiding La Forchetta. They offer only overpriced mediocre food. Little flavor, really dry fish and undercooked pizza terribly short of sauce, cheese and toppings. Service was slow, waiter did not know what Chianti was and we had to get up to get our own napkins. Hope this helps readers find a better experience!
Fantastic authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of La Fortuna. I have been to Italy and eaten in too many Italian restaurants in my life to count, and this restaurant is the real deal.Wood fire pizza, great cheeses, italian wine selection, good pastas.Lastly the owners are friendly and actually Italian!
Friendly service. Accommodating for young kids. Fresh thin crust pizza was delicious, as was the four cheese gnocchi
We had a couple of pizzas here. The food was good (but maybe I expected a bigger amount of ingredients on the pizza). The bigger issue was that personal couldn’t understand English very well. For instance, we asked to split the bill but they didn’t understand. And when in the end they did it was done wrong. Also, they didn’t have a green tee and we could smell gas from the kitchen.
Not bad but certainly over priced. The cheese plate was tiny (literally translucent pieces of cheeseand did not have all the cheeses that were listed on the menu. When we asked about this, the response was that they did not have all the cheeses and they could decide what they presented. We were disappointed by the amount of cheese for the price (9300 c), especially because they served us by accident the mixed cheese/charcuterie plate (which was actually cheaperand when we indicated that we had ordered only cheese they just removed the charcuterie and did not give us additional cheese. The bread was stale and the pasta carbonara was dry. The ravioli was tasty though. We ordered grilled vegetables as a side dish, this led to confusion and in the end we were served a plate of boiled (not grilledcarrots, baby corn and zucchini.Service was sweet but incredibly clumsy.Unfortunately we do not share the rave reviews of this place. It is probably fine for pizza (these were made fresh and looked goodbut for anything beyond that it is disappointing for the price.
Great place! The pizza was delicious! I wanted to eat a second one, but we chose dessert. 😃Service was great as well! Would come again!
I would return to La Fortuna just to eat at this restaurant again. Mario, our server was incredible- we didnt just have dinner, we had a dining experience! Pizza from a brick oven with coffee wood burning, the freshness of the ingredients in the homemade ravioli, the prosciutto imported from Italy, the wine cave... we cannot wait to revisit this place again on our next trip!
The best pasta I have had outside of Italy. Everything was very fresh and had flavor! I am often disappointed by Italian restaurants in states because the pasta usually lacks a punch. This food did not disappoint.
My wife got the lamb ravioli with sage and butter sauce. The pasta was obviously house-made and delicious. I ordered a pizza which was exceptional. You have to design your own pizza - it would be nice if they had a few of their favorites as suggestions, but it turned out excellent nevertheless. Ordered their sangria which was some of the best I’ve had including all the sangria I’ve ordered in the south of Spain!
Wow! This was literally the best meal I’ve had ALL YEAR. I got the ravioli and in the first bite I had to stop everything and make sure I was still on Earth and not in heaven. My brain literally couldn’t comprehend how deliciously flavorful it was. I’m still at the restaurant but HAD TO write this review. Delicious. Best restaurant in the country.
Very good Pizza. Best so far in Costa Rica. Topping of the Pizza could have been more, but I can understand, as the stuff is really expensive here. Mario was a super nice and helpful waiter. Will come again
Delish! All the dishes including pasta & pizza were great.
This restaurant is incredible and the most authentic Italian I have had anywhere, outside of Italy. Hell it was better than anything I had IN Italy. The owner creates an incredible menu with traditional dishes from his hometown in Northern Italy (but has lived in Costa Rica for more than 40 yearsand everything is made by hand - pasta, pizza, desserts, etc. The staff are so friendly and inviting, and the owner was absolutely lovely, he sat down with us and shared complimentary after-dinner drinks and wonderful conversation. The price was incredibly inexpensive for the quality and service… we couldn’t help ourselves and went back a second night!
We got the margarita pizza and it was ok- we are from New York and are used to very good crust so the pizza was pretty on par with the regular pizza we have and tasted pretty fresh. The service was very good however doesn’t make up for the pasta we had. I know I am spoiled with very good handmade pasta but the sauce was very peculiar for the cream salmon pasta and I was taken aback by that flavor. I’m sure the other things on the menu like the gnocchi is better and unfortunately we didn’t order whatever people said they ordered on the reviews. This pasta was so bad and one of the more expensive items on the menu and I guess I had high expectations because the reviews were so good but the pasta was not fresh and the sauce was not authentic Italian. Same with the seafood spaghetti with pomodoro sauce. The seafood was also not fresh and there were some meat missing from the shells for the mussels and clams. I was fine with that but the pasta was not fresh tasting but for the reviews to say it’s the best pasta outside of Italy is a huge stretch… I have so much good pasta on a normal that this was very subpar for me. Let me say it again, the comment that this is the best Italian food outside of Italy is wrong. This restaurant makes me rather eat at a local soda because I rather eat authentic Costa Rican fare than this.
I really don’t understand the hype behind this place. We ordered the margarita base pizza. I asked the waiter what it came with and he said cheese and the tomato sauce. Perfect. The pizza comes out and it HARDLY has any sauce and no cheese at all. It was extremely thin and lacked flavor. When we asked for Parmesan cheese, the waiter came out with a little pinch of it. We had ordered this mango and shrimp appetizer and it took well over 20 minutes to get to the table and it was disgusting. I don’t understand how cooking two shrimps and placing it over a bed of lettuce takes that long. Additionally, when we had lost patience and we asked the man making the pizzas to bring us our check (our waiter was no where in site), the waiter comes around with the appetizer and our check. Overall, super disappointed that we couldn’t have a decent dinner at this place. Please consider going elsewhere. There are many restaurants in La Fortuna that were absolutely amazing!!
Wow what an excellent dinner. Literally every aspect was spot on. Crazy how fresh and delicious everything was. They take food very seriously. They literally even grew their herbs in house. You can’t get any fresher than that. We had the margarita pizza, caprese salad, fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and tiramisu. 10/10. I wish I could come back :( Thank you so much to Mario who was incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. You’re the man Mario!
We ordered pizza and ravioli. The ravioli was good but the pizza was some of the best, if not the best, pizza that Ive ever had! It has a thinner crust that has the perfect amount of crispiness- I normally prefer thick crust pizzas but now Im not sure! So delicious and the service was also great. Also, their house/tap water was also good. If Im ever in the area again I would definitely go back.
We ordered pizza and dessert, and have been to Italy a few years ago, the food wasnt even close. I. E. the pizza crust was very very thin with almost zero sauce. The dessert looked and tasted like flan. However, the price was better than expected.
A wonderful experience! I felt like in Italy. My family and I are always looking for restaurants that cook with natural fresh food and avoid using processed. Well, turns out that they rock it! The service was kind and attentive. The ambience was cozy and family friendly. 100% recommended
Hands down the best restaurants in La Fortuna in terms of value for money. We came here during Corona times and we didnt feel unsafe in fact we felt very safe the waiter that served us was a real funny guy and helped us get information about attractions around us. The pricing is really good and it is especially helpful when you have a big family. They have beers here as well as food and salads so if youre a vegetarian this is also a good choice. We got lucky and a random guy was walking next to us with a trash bag and asked us if we want to see a snake when he opened the bag there was a huge snake inside and apparently this is common as some of the homeless will eat any animal they find including snakes, yikes! If you found this review to be helpful please hit the like button
Fantastic. Pizza, ravioli and tiramisu were all delicious and the service was very friendly
One of the best Italian restaurants weve ever been to. My wife loves Italian food so we keep trying different restaurants whenever we get a chance. We read some good reviews about La Forchetta and decided to go there. We started off with the Minestrone, it was delicious! We then ordered Gnocchi and Ravioli with spinach and ricotta cheese. Both the dishes were fantastic! For dessert we had the Tiramisu. If you ever visit this restaurant, please try the Tiramisu, its amazing! They make it using their authentic family recipe. My wife and I were visiting Costa Rica for our anniversary and were glad that we chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Thanks La Forchetta for making it worth it :)
We stumbled on this place when our other restaurant choice was closed. We were blown away by the food quality. Authentic Italian with a local twist. The Neapolitan pizza is absolutely top notch. The sauces on our pasta and meat dishes were exquisite. Great server as well. They only offered a couple wines but they were excellent. Plating is fancier and prices are a bit higher then other places in the area but their food is at a whole different level of execution. Highly recommend!
We ate here a couple of nights ago. It was a beautiful meal. You can see the photos. We had a mixed aperitif platter. Then a home made ravioli of spinach and ricotta in white sauce. The quantity was perfect and the magic recipe is making it not heavy at all! My partner ate a pizza which was cooked in the wood oven in front of our eyes. Very good. And the piece de résistance was the tiramisu. We know tiramisu well having made many and tasted many and this was the BEST TIRAMISU we ever had. The recipe is magical and if you go, you can find out for yourself from the very friendly Italian Milanese owner how it is made. Highly recommend for authentic Italian.
Loved our delicious dinner here. We’re from NY and love good pizza. This pizza was amazing, baked in a brick oven with coffee wood. The crust was thin and crispy, the tomato sauce homemade and the choice of toppings was great. We also had spinach ravioli with a delicious cream sauce and a fresh salad. Our waiter Mario was friendly and professional and the Italian chef stopped by to say hello and check on us. Casual setting, great service, fantastic food. What more do you need?
The best I ever taste in La Fortuna. They have a variety of pizzas and fancy dishes that will surprise your senses. You can choose your pizza by menu or customize it! Full of flavor in a homey and warmful place that will place your mind like you are at home! Ask for Alessandro, his owner chef, you will see the passion for cooking thru his gently treat.
Hands down the best Italian in La Fortuna! So good we ordered extra take away for our bus ride out of town tomorrow. Service is incredible and has the only Italian chef in town. Definitely visit if you want the best Italian 👌
Amazing find! Came in late night around 10:30 pm as our hotel room service had closed and we really wanted a pizza. This place did not disappoint! We got the pizza with mushrooms, sausage and pepperoni and it was fantastic. The owner sat next to us and we had a great conversation and he showed us his wine cellar with only Italian wine. Mario is a great server and you can tell he is passionate about this job. We will definitely come back !
Best restaurant in town! Freshly made Italian food from an Italian owner. We’ve been to Italy many times and this restaurant provides the genuine taste!! If you’re walking here, don’t be distracted by all the fancy looking restaurants. This is the place where you actually want to be!!
Very authentic Italian food! The lamb ravioli is really good. The pizza was also really well made, especially when you add an extra cheese. Chicken marsala is good but the sauce is somewhat sweet. The place has indoor and outdoor sitting, lots of parking spots, and the waiters are very friendly. Anyone who likes Italian food should definitely eat here!
An amazing gem - Alessandro is an excellent chef and keeps tradition alive with flavors and freshness that are second to none. Fun and friendly. I highly recommend this stop. Casual setting.
This food is just amazing.....it’s fine dining quality at very reasonable pricing. Just go there you will not regret it all of the food we had was 5+ star. Get the La Fortuna special ;-)
