La Cuchara de Carmela - Down home cooking restaurant in Granada, Spain
The food was delicious but Javi’s service made the day. Full marks for Javi!
Absolutely delicious food. Our waiter Javi was very attentive and extremely patient with us. The prices were quite reasonable and the servings extremely generous. They serve all day which we appreciated since after 4pm many restaurants will not give you the big meal of the day.
Wonderful niche restaurant; "spoon" or traditional Spanish comfort food. Everything is authentic and delightful and the staff seems to love working there.
Loved it, good location. We got a salad (lettuce with anchovies, olives..), the cured sheep cheese (was really goodand for mains we got the salmon and steak dishes both were yum.
Best food in town with excellent service . The chocolate coulant with ice cream so yummy
Arriving in Granada for an overnight stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we took a walk around the city and decided to stop for some lunch. The exterior of La Cuchara looked like the right place, popular but not too crowded, plenty of greenery around, tables nicely laid out and fine water spays from above in action. My wife ordered eggs and chorizo with chips, a dish she discovered in the north of Spain which had become a favourite. When her food arrived, the meat was shredded jamon, the wrong order. I had ordered battered cod; when it arrived, it was plain to see that the batter was burnt on the outside but was still mushy on the inside......I tried it but it tasted disgusting so I could only eat the soggy fish on the inside. I pointed this out to the waiter who said that he was sorry and would inform the chef but nothing came of it, certainly not a reduction of the bill to compensate. Although the portions were generous, we were very disappointed and, although the location and ambience were fine, we would not recommend or go there again.......the worst battered cod of many that I have ever been served!
The worst experience in Spain… all the meals greasy and soggy… meat terrible quality… and a chef (or more likely a cookis the worst, the type of chef that is never wrong…
The staff is very friendly: they gave us a menu in English when they saw we were struggling with the Spanish one :They also talked to us in English, teaching us a few words in Spanish :The food was soo delicious, slowly-cooked.
Food was good but the rice and milk was AMAZING. 10/10 Will go again if I can.
I am visiting the city for a film shoot and sent our lead actress to this location for a nice dinner before we film. She was shouted at by the waiter and then had a racist comment made about her to the other waitstaff in front of her. Extremely disappointed and disgusted by this.
La Carmela chain has the best restaurants you’ll ever try in Granada. I have been to all four and they’re all very unique and have the best quality. La Cuchara is no exception, you’ll receive excellent service, cozy ambiance, and delicious food.
Great place, attentive staff, reasonable priced and very tasty food. I would go again
Very good service and good quality
Chipped glasses , olives with pits from previous diners on the plates , poor food !
Food is ok. Price is high. Service is good. Music is horrible.
A nice restaurant for a quick bit or drink when youre not in the busy center of the city. The Russian salad is indeed very special. I normally wouldnt order any of those, but decided to try and it didnt disappoint! The croquettas are huge, so best to share them
We stayed in a nearby hotel and decided to come and grab some late-night food, and it turned out to be a surprise. Everything was so delicious. The server spoke fluent English.
Nice place, covered terrace, great salads, friendly service
We tried fresh fish and very tender steak.
Excellent restaurant and service. Great menu with delicious, filling food. Pork knuckle is superb
Great service. Made us feel at home. We ate family style. Our preference would have been to cook the fish a little more, but that is how the locals like it. Great presentation on all the dishes.
Really really good food.. So genuine and tasty..
We just had a great dinner here. Good food, nice atmosphere, prices are fair but what made it special was the service! Alex was super friendly and very efficient. Thank you !
Such a wonderful place with quality food and nice staff. Thank you, Alex!
We had a lovely time and nice warm dinner! Alex, our server, was extremely helpful and kind.
We are absolutely satisfied with this place. Thank you, Alex, for the nice welcome.
Had a lovely meal! Really great service from Alex. 10/10 food! Will definitely return
It was very good, and the waiter Alex was great and very attentive to our needs !Thank you for the excellent food and service !
Great fresh food, well cooked. Served by nice and attentive waiter - Alex. Thank you!
Food is delicious and the staff is friendly. They open earlier then most restaurants. Great for foreigners who feel hungry at 19.00.
Go here, hope you get a place and order drinks until youve enough. Great tapas and good service make you forget time. Recommended.
We loved the food! The restaurant is very nicely situated and the terrace is lovely.
Wonderful experience at La Cuchara de Carmela. The staff were very kind and attentive. I strongly recommend the croquettes and Iberian pork as both were delicious! Overall a great experience and I will definitely be returning the next time I visit Granada.
Very nice restaurant with very friendly waiters. The meal what we ate was yummy and great decorated on a plate. We didnt have to wait a long for it. As dessert we ate Brownies with icecream. A deliciouse sweet dessert. No reservation is needed. The restaurant was clean too.Next time in Granada I would like to go again to this restaurant.
Amazing local food, good service and fair price :would definitely go back if I am back to Granada one day!
Very good Traditional food here. Also, my wife was able to have some very good vegetarian options. That combination is rare. The service was good. The atmosphere outside was pleasant.
Great friendly service and delicious food. This is a favorite of locals and the atmosphere is very enjoyable.
Best restaurant in Spain (been to this country 4 timesso far. Nothing seems too special but spot on!
...a small walk from central parking, partly obscured by shade trees, happy happy patrons, attentive wait staff, beautifully presented dishes and libations, all served from family recipes...what is NOT to like? We spent a perfect 3 hour tapas lunch here and will again when in Granada!
very big portion. friendly staffs
We only had a few beers here a few times but really good service nice beer and free taps with big rounds. Also waiter called Max there was brilliant he went out of his way to help us and speaks great English..
We had a lovely meal here. It was a quiet Sunday evening and the restaurant wasnt too busy. Our waiter was so nice and very attentive. We practices our Spanish which is poor, but he helped. We shared 3 sharing platters. Mixed vegetable, aubergine and ham platter. It was all so simple but so tasty. We would definitely recommend eating here.
I absolutely loved this place. The staff are fantastic and the food is out of this world. I had the roasted pork knuckle and leche frita and both were perfect. The gentleman behind the bar even gave me a bottle of milk liquor to compliment my dessert. This is definitely one of the best meals Ive had in Spain.
Great restaurant if what you are looking for is traditional Spanish spoon food. We ate puchero and cocido which were delicious. Great quality and kind staff. Beware of the portions which, in truly Andalusian style, are huge as "they wouldnt want anyone going home hungry" :)
The food was fantastic at La Cuchara de Carmela. We were getting weary of the tapas offerings, and found this restaurant to be a delight. Excellent cuisine, attentive and professional staff. The eggplant dish is to die for. Muchas gracias, Carmela!
Nice food, but for some reason the grilled vegetables were brought long after we had already finished with the other main dishes.
Nice restaurant beneath the most beautiful park in Granada. Good food and wine. Local people
I was expecting better but the food was OK. I may have had an unlucky pick with my dish: medallones de lomo.
Excellent option in granada. Friendly staff serving local dishes at good prices. What more could you want?
People say quality has a price, on this occasion I didnt mind paying for it! Amazing silver service. Every dish was outstanding! The building is very historical and beautiful! They gave my son small colour pens and paper to keep him busy. A must place when u are in Granada!
