3600 Clipper Mill Rd, Baltimore, MD 21211, USA, Baltimore
Elegant eatery with an intimate atmosphere serving Basque fare such as pintxos & tapas.
Thank you to the entire staff of La Cuchara for making my mother‘s birthday Amazing! You made her feel special - from the pintxos to the dessert - everything was spectacular. The service was exceptional.
The restaurant is so well done-very classy and chic. The servers are attentive, efficient and friendly. They have a sort of decent vegan/vegetarian fare but wish they had more. The food came quick and was well done/ The prices are steep but I guess thats for all the upkeep. Overall would definitely go back and recommend to all
We were highly impressed! My girlfriend and I enjoyed the peach salad added to the menu that very day, it was impeccable. We also share the Manchego cheese, bread, patatoes bravas, the shrimp dish with peppers and the olive assortment app. The service, food and atmosphere were all fantastic.I did not personally like the craft cocktail of the day with Gin, orange and espresso, I think more time should be taken to create something so out of the box. I also did not like either of the most expensive white wines by the glass. One tasted like retsina Greek wine and the other like a blanc, not complimentary or expected. The bartender was so kind in allowing me to try and selected a wine that I was very happy with! I will say that the bartender was on his game, especially knowledgeable and sharp. He made our evening a success. We truly enjoyed our experience from start to finish. We started at a table then decided on the bar since it was happy hour. Parking was fantastic. Looking forward to food on the happy hour menu and bringing several friends to enjoy. An excellent, if not one of the best Baltimore restaurants right now, in my mind. And we are very careful in selecting where we spend our time and money. Highly recommend! Enjoy! And thank you La Cuchara for making it a wonderful experience.
Always an amazing meal. Some great new additions to the menu too! Whenever I go I try to sit in Alexs section. Shes a great server and always makes perfect recommendations for food.
The tastes of La Cucharas are always a joy. Unique sauces make their dishes sing. We just love the place, and eat here 2 times a month. Drink menu could use a little more variety, but rotating menu with a few stalwarts makes it a place we return to. Very highly recommended.
This place is a hidden charm! The location set is next to the light rail so very convenient for local traffic. It’s a little bit tricky if you’re driving to find a way in. Tip- if on Union Ave (by Waverly Brewing Companyturn right onto Clipper Mill Rd. then look for a bridge on the right hand side this will take you around to the front where La Cuchara is. Anyways, absolutely beautiful outside space. There is free parking and plenty of it. When you go inside it’s quite l and they have a very artistic, possibly European vibe. It’s a great look! And for the food/ staff. Let’s say everyone we spoke with was beyond helpful. They have someone who serves you wine and gives you a background on them. This individual is super knowledgeable- possibly even a sommelier. I loved that they offered wine flights it’s perfect for the various foods we picked. And for the food we tried so many different things off of each section of the menu. Everything was heavenly. We highly recommend trying the croquets, crispy oysters, shrimp, Gilda, pastas bravas, and empanadas. This is a perfect place for something fancier or a casual romantic dinner. Will certainly be back!!
My wife and I had a excellent anniversary dinner last night. From the hostess to the servers everyone and everything was excellent. The drinks, the service, the food all amazing.... recommendation is to come often to try everything!
Amazing food, drinks, and service. Looking forward to returning
We came here for a birthday tapas dinner, and the food was very tasty. The jamón plate in particular surprised us with the generous portion. However, I expected the plates to be more unique and thoughtfully prepared, but the flavors were a little too simple for a top-notch tapas experience. Overall, tasty but not exceptional.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner here last night. The food is always delicious and I love that I learn something new from the way dishes are put together when I eat here. I also love that I trust the quality enough to be adventurous when ordering. The service is also great! Overall a reliably wonderful experience every time we dine here!
Most importantly, this is one of the best happy hours in baltimore but dinner is not to be missed either. Everything is a must try
Well that was amazing. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Yes. I know the menu changes constantly so recommending any one thing seems foolish, but I think my favorite was the shrimp tapas. Anyway, you want to go to here.
Beautiful experience. The food was fantastic, the server was super attentive, and selection was great. It was a wonderful visit and Im sure Ill be back.
Great wine selection, including a couple of Basque options, very friendly service and good food. The menu is not huge, but La Cuchara offers a variety of small plates, tapas, charcuterie, and entrees, so you wont leave hungry! All of the ingredients seemed very fresh, too. Be sure to order the Spanish Olives! They have a large covered outdoor patio with a lot of tables which is really nice, too.
The wine and cheeses are spectacular. The cocktails are innovative and delicious. The rest of the food is great. The service was amazing. We had a great time.
I went for a work dinner. This definitely feels like more of a small family style restaurant. Id say 3 to 6 people. The food was good. However, when youve got 20 people in one party and another group of people only separated by a curtain, it feels overwhelming. I would stay definitely go but stick to smaller groups! The drinks were strong and flavorful.
Always amazing and the dishes take you on a trip through Spain. I love everything they do! The ambiance is perfect for business meetings, dates, solo visits to the bar, and everything between.
Love this authentic Basque restaurant. There is such an amazing variety of of food choices to choose from and the portions are large. We truly enjoy the quality and diversity of the food and menu. The staff were excellent. We will keep coming back for an excellent dining experience. Lauri and Dean Kane
What an amazing hidden taps spot in Baltimore! Amazing service, food and wine! We came for dinner on a Monday night but ended up at the endless bar! It’s one of the 3 spaces in this restaurant and it’s so opened and modern, awesome vibes! We ordered charcuterie plates and each serving of cheese or meat was very oversized, about .25-.30 of a pound each plate! It was too much for us and most folks who ordered it, everyone was leaving with a box. Other hot tapas were very tasty as well.Wine selection was mostly from Spain and we were given a taste of 3 or 4 before we chose a bottle of red Tempranillo. I saw the cocktails and they looked very good too.Overall, a great experience, everything went smooth and we enjoyed it a lot. Prices were also very fair for the portions and quality of food. This place is a must visit, it was pretty full on a regular Monday night, I can imagine how busy it is on a weekend.
The food was too good, and my stomach not big enough.
I have been here 3 times and would go a million times more. Amazing and very authentic food. Its a tapas bar at heart I just order a bunch of different tapas, I havent order any entrees. Really great vibe and extensive wine menu. They even have an in-house sommelier to help you choose the best wine based off of what you like and what youre eating. I highly recommend anyone to go here.
Semi upscale Basque restaurant with great atmosphere inside. Amazing food and interiors. Lots of parking outside. New Hampden favorite!
My friend and I went to La Cuchara last night to celebrate my birthday. The food was wonderful, but unfortunately our server was unfriendly and rude. We still enjoyed ourselves, but for some reason every interaction with our server was tense and uncomfortable. Wish we would have stayed at the bar. The bartender was friendly and personable.
Food and drinks were incredible! The meu changes frequently, so all we can recommend is that you skip the entree and get more small plates because everything is worth tasting. Would give it five stars except for the sound. Some acoustic work in this place would be a big help. Until then, Id recommend for a group and not so much for a date night.
Really cute spot!First of all the place is huge and well decorate, lighted, and just has a wonderful ambiance. The drinks were good - well thought out, flavorful and reasonably priced. The tapas were wonderful. The patatas bravas - excellent. The jamon croquettes quite crispy and interesting. The beef empanadas were a let down - the empanada felt undercooked. The shrimp dinner was great and the gnocchi was also well cooked.Desserts were interesting and very different. We got the pavlova and unfortunately they got the textures all wrong. They filled it with a custard which while delicious made the inside so heavy that instead of having a light and airy pavlova it was quite dense and marshmallow-y.All in all a great dinner - expensive for sure - they tried to be edgy in some spots and it didnt work but at least they are pushing the limits of what you see normally. I think my only knocks on this place was bang for your buck and the explanation of their dishes. They just needed to give me detail on what to expect and maybe the waitstaff was supposed to do that, I just was left wanting at times on what to expect.
Amazing food and spirits! Lovely atmosphere. Incredibly kind and welcoming staff. The head baker is phenomenal! She knows her breads and desserts. The flavors her foods create in your mouth are off the charts!
best happy hour in town! even right now with the bar finally reopening after two years and no HH food specials yet...its still my favorite happy hour. the complimentary incredible housemade breads + soft salted butter, a drink and snacks is a perfect visit at La Cuchara. its also run by the nicest people- and to me, nice matters. especially now. highly recommend!
Its the first time Ive been here in many years. Didnt disappoint. Still amazing food. Went for the cassoulet, incredible. Hopefully will go back soon. PS, on Sunday nights, 1/2 price on all wines over $100. Amazing time to try some terrific wines with amazing food.
Great space, delicious food and cocktails. Friendly, professional service and very knowledgeable sommelier. Would go back
Great service and beautiful space. Could have tasted about everything on the menu. Didnt even make it to the entrees as all the various small bites were so delicious and unique. Both wine flights were great pairings and made everything seem more approachable.
I just left and I am speechless. What has historically been a lovely experience was not. We arrived and were told that there wasn’t any bar seating. I felt like I was being scolded for even asking. Ok no problem we will take a table. The lighting felt like I was in an operating room. Absolutely no ambiance. We were seated and our sever arrived. She was as unfriendly as a person could be. She asked if we wanted something other than water to drink and i laughed and said “It’s happy hour. Yes we do”. Her immediate response was “We don’t do happy hour.” I literally meant the time frame not a discount menu. She was abrupt and kept taking our menus even though we asked her to leave them as we intended to order in waves. She never asked if we wanted any more wine. She never asked if we wanted another course. She just asked if we wanted our check. We took the hint and asked for the check. She brought it to us and explained that the gratuity had already been added. A 22% tip. We normally tip more than that but my ire at incredibly poor service coupled with a 22% tip was too much for me to take. The food was lovely and the two bus people were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome. But this server absolutely ruined our experience. We won’t be back.
Fantastic atmosphere, great service, wonderful food, outstanding wine and drinks selection. Start with the wine flight!
The food and service here were exceptional. Met up with friends and shared several plates and a bottle of wine. All the food was incredible, especially the croquettes, the black garlic fideua and the calimari. Knowledgeable staff could make recommendations for food and wine. Decor was lovely and warm. Cannot wait to come back!
Stands out as one of the top 5 meals I’ve had in Baltimore! At the time we went (seasonal menu I presume), they were serving arctic char, sea bass and venison (pictured below). Grab one of each and share. Absolutely delicious!
From ambiance to food and even safety protocols, La Cuchara is excellent! We were a party of four and shared 4 tapas/pintxos and an entree. We finished off with traditional Spanish churros and chocolate! Perfectly delightful experience. Our waiter was even a trained somm which was cool! Oh!! And try the RED vermouth - its almost like a mild pepsi flavor. :)
The food is wonderful, the staff is incredible. This was the first time we had gone out to eat since February of 2020 (because of Covidand La Cuchara did not disappoint!
Visited this place once and I wanted to go again but covid hit and I’ve been dying to go back and I’m so glad I did. I love love love this restaurant. The atmosphere, food, service, location, drink menu, cocktail menu, wine list, everything. You will not go wrong by visiting this restaurant for dinner. Great location for a date night, a “meet the parents” dinner, or a catch up with an old friend drink. This place has it all. I rave about it all the time and I will only have ever have good things to say about this place.
Amazing farm to table dishes with influences of Spain and France. The Happy Hour has great prices with excellent high top social distance seating. Make sure you explore the wine list that changes every 2 weeks.
Amazing food! We went for happy hour on the patio and ordered many of the happy hour food options and drinks. The happy hour deals are really good. We especially enjoyed the scallops, croquettes, squash, and lobster mushrooms, but everything was delicious. Our server was very nice and attentive. Its a beautiful location as well. Everything about the food and experience was perfect.
Creative and shareable small plates and appetizers but save room for the delicious entrees. Bar and wait staff were patient, funny, knowledgeable and non-pretentious. Manager was attentive and personally thanked us for dining there. Lively energy on a Saturday night, not too loud. Tucked away in an old Mill with plenty of parking. Nice outdoor area when its warm enough.
Spanish tapas done right. This spot solves my main issue with tapas places: you are served portions that are either perfect for one bite or to share between two people. The seasonal menu boasts regular entree plates as well. The lamb was incredible.Come between 5:00 and 7:00 before dinner and get a happy hour wine for $5 at the bar and discounted appetizer bites. Sundays also has half priced wine for bottles over $100.
Visited La Cuchara while traveling this past weekend and was very impressed with not only the food but the overall atmosphere. The service at the bar was outstanding, recommendations from the bartender on food and drink were thoughtful and honest. My personally favorite menu item was the Chèvre stuffed squash blossoms, simply amazing. The lamb and scallops were also fantastic, pictured below.
My wife and I had one of our best meals in a while at La Cuchara. The Pinxtos (Basque tapaswere unique and delicious. You can definitely just make a meal of eating your way through the 20+ Pinxtos on the menu.Beyond the many Pinxtos, my wife and I also had a Mesclun and Arugula salad. Both were delicious. For the main course, I had a morel mushroom dish which was unique and tasty. My wife had the Roseda Farm Ribeye, which was fabulous. The service was impeccable, always a member of the staff checking in to make sure you were happy. All of their recommendations were excellent. The wine list was extensive and their drink menu offered many local craft beers. The place was about an $8 Uber ride from inner harbor. Well worth the trip. With tip, our meal for two came out to $180, including many Pinxtos, two salads, two mains, two wines, two beers and tip.Well definitely go again next time Im in Baltimore.
Despicably Heaven, best service best Mediterranean Spain menu I can find in Baltimore City it really touch my heart ♥️ reminded me home,Please made reservations before you step in and guaranteed youYou shall fall in love 🥰It was just perfect. I strongly recommend Duck dish and scallops sea food everyone knows I love sea food but a good Duck made like Spain is impossible no to eat.To bad Google allow only 5 star 🌟 ta-ta.🥳
**Disclaimer make sure to click my name to see all 12 pictures**Came back for Restaurant Week!!! Food was AMAZING, service specially good like always and the atmosphere was pleasant. Buzzing with a busy kitchen, lots of patrons enjoying the food and even managers helping with sevicing tables as needed. This hidden gem deserves a visit for sure! Go try their Croquetas de bacalao, their Ribeye steak, Lamb albondigas and more you will NOT be disappointed. Again reservations noir necessary but HIGHLY recommended. Parking on site. Not a restaurant for kids.Inconspicuous restaurant a bit hard to find but totally worth it once we got there. Since we had already had dinner we went there just for dessert. Great atmosphere, friendly staff including the managers who took the time to talk to use. We sat at one of two bars where you could see plenty bottles of bourbon to pair with your food. We had spicy churroos with chocolate sauce, ham ice cream and hazelnut flan. So many good flavors!!! Reservations are suggested, parking available, happy hr sunday-friday. Prices are adequate for the type of restaurant. We will definitely be back for food!
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The vintage, warehouse atmosphere, the amazing flavors in their Latino fusion dishes, and the staff all make the perfect place for a girls night, a date night, or an office happy hour... Ive done all three here at La Cuchara! And you MUST try there churros. Yuuummmm.
First time last night for dinner with 6, sharing the Pintxos ( lil bites to the short ribs was amazing. Great wine list, and the old fasion with Angeles rye very well done. Staff was great and very knowledgeable on every menue item. I ended up leaving my leather jacket and we came today Sunday to retrieve and wow found every sunday they have half off on all the lil bites and wine. And Kevin the Dining Manager is the man. This is by far our new place for date nights. Reminds us of places in Europe, everyone is just helpful and not pretentious. 10 stars...
Grilled octopus was very tasty, plated on a bed of spicy saffron emulsion sauce and purple broccoli. Love the fresh baked variety of breads and delicious charcuterie. Cava bubbly was refreshing.
I came here for a date night with my wife. It was a great experience. The food was very unique and good. The service is second to none. The atmosphere is also great. My wife and I will definitely be back.
These dudes took a Northern Spanish snacking tradition and transformed it into one of Baltimores most unique food experiences. May be a little pricy.. but taste, service, atmosphere and food quality were amazing. Perfect for a date, entertaining guests or happy hour (50% of appies). PS - their pre-dinner bread board (complimentary with dinnerwas the best Ive ever had!Just a few comments. Our pork was super flavourful, but very fatty. Beer was $7-12 per bottle (which is pricey in my books). However, our customer service was outstanding.
