La Cantine des Gazelles - Moroccan restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
There is no need for a front man at this place, the food speaks for itself. Sitting just off the main square, this small restaurant does great Moroccan food (as well as some alternatives for those that have had their Fill of tagine). The place is quite busy, but well worth the wait if you need to.
I hadn’t booked but because it was only one person, they accommodated me and gave me 45 minutes. It was the best meal I had in Morocco during my trip. Tajin Gazelles is class and slightly different to the traditional ones. Service and the quality of the products outstanding too. Highly recommended but remember to book.
In love with the casual setting and very good food and service
The veggie Couscous wasnt much seasoned, but still good tho. Staff friendly, you get a little Smoothie for free and its affordable.
I dont recommend. A ton of water was added to my orange juice, the taste of the food is far from the authentic Moroccan cuisine.
We had the Gazelles Tagine, Orange with Cinnamon and of course, Mint Tea. They were all fantastic and good value. I recommend eating here than the other fancier restaurants. Come at 7pm when they open so you get a table as they are pretty popular.
Nice cozy restaurant with the menu little bit different. The dish is not too much salted as expected, very good, just the portion is too much that I could not finish by myself.
We had family lunch here this afternoon (August 2022during our stay in Marrakesh, Marocco. We loved the food.Pros:1. Indoor and outdoor seating.2. Friendly staff.3. The chicken cuscus is good and good portion for 2. We spent around 525 MAD for 6 adults and 2 children.4. Entrance accessible for wheelchair.5. Wearing a mask is not mandatory.6. The price is fair.7. The restaurant is located in the pedestrian walk, you need to turn on your Google Maps.8. English speaking staff.9. Welcome drink is free and freshCons:1. The wifi is in problem when we had lunch today. It is so difficult to connect.
Lovely food and huge portions! A little out in the open (with 4 stray cats! And no AC but very authentic and would go again !
Tasty! Everything we tried was even better than we expected
We ordered two couscous, which were good and abundant. They also invited us to what seemed like a raspberry juice, this was actually super good. The problem is that both of us got sick from that food, we know it was that because we didnt eat anything from breakfast. We woke up the next day with a terrible stomachache, and that pain went on for 3 days. We had a trip to the dessert those days, and it wasnt pleasent at all to go when we both needed to go to the bathroom urgently every 1 or 2 hours.I guess this isnt what normally happens in this restaurant, but in this case, this was our experience.Hoppefully this is just an exceptional case.
the best of marrakech. we have eaten already 3 times there and will certainly go back.modt delicious moroccan cuisine i have even eaten ( i m moroccan)!
Comfortable and affordable. Tourists like it because you dont feel hassled or rushed in any way. Food was good and reasonably priced.
The atmosphere, the personnel that is so frienfly and caring making you feel right at home, and last but absolutely not least, the food...oh the food!!!! Its absolutely delicious! The Tagine of the house (the Gazelles one), the Chicken Tagine and the fabulous uncountornable St. Tropez Burger are stars! Then the welcome drink of the house (a juice with orange, banana and red fruitsis superb! For me, the best restaurant in Marrakech!
Best couscous in Marrakech!! The portion is big and I shared with my wife. The price is 70. The only thing is that is a very small.place, so we waited for about 20min in the sun to have a table
Excellent food and very nice staff. Copious dishes and good juices. No need for hesitation, its a no-brainer. Just go and enjoy the quality of the dishes! It was closed on Monday as Google says
My favourite restaurant in Marrakech. I have been in a 4-day trip in the city and this has been the best place where I found the most delicious cuisine.Plus they have the most friendly waiter in whole Morroco.
We came back for a second dinner because we think its one of the best restaurants in Marrakech. Nice people, nice cats and delicious maroccan dishes.
Great welcome with complimentary olives and juice. Lovely food, excellent service. It was also very sweet that they fed the stray cats.
Im in Marrakech City , i will share my experience about this tourism City , all the tourists likes because it has a hot weather and has a perfect hotels and Riad with Nice architectur , so welcome , personally I host the tourist because I have a diploma in management hospitality ,
Friendly staff! The food was not exceptional but good enough. They were nice enough to provide a small drink each before we ate anything. The Moroccan pastry was quite nice as well
I reccomend their Tajine Gazelles! Prices are reasonable. Large portion! Pretty busy restaurant. Youll most likely need to reserve a table in advance if you want to eat dinner. This can be done by showing up an hour in advance and reserving a table.
Friendly and opened staff, good price for qualitative and really tasty food. A shot of fruit cocktail and olives as welcome snack. Totally recommend this place. Hopefully see you next time.
Unlike the other reviews saying it is slow service, our food were "boom boom" on the table. I did see at peak lunch hours, you tend to see a long queue outside so perhaps we came just after the peak hour in the afternoon. We had salad, aubergine bake, chicken tagine and chicken pastilla. Definitely recommend the tagine and chicken pastilla, very flavourful and meats are soft.
A fancy tiny restaurant which is very close to the heart of the city of Marrakech. The food is beyond delicious and everything is clean from their hands so no worries. Prices are reasonable compared to the service and quality food you get. So recommended 👌
Really good restaurant in Medinas heart! The most friendly employees and amazing taggine. We went there twice and it was aleays full of people. The dishes are really well served. We will recomend this restaurant for sure!
Located down one of the less busy streets in the heart of the medina, the restaurant has tables inside and a few on the street for the immersive experience. The menu is quite extensive with both local and international cuisine at quite reasonable prices (vs tourist extortion). I fell in love with one of their smoothies: Royal Traditional which is made with avocado, dates and almonds. The place was also quite busy full of people clearly enjoying the food.
Delicious couscous tagines. Very good coffee. Somewhat pricey for me but worth it for taste, service and presentation. Booking advised after 1pm. There was a queue even on Jan 4th. Would definitely return there.
Great location which is in the heart of the Jamaa lafna. We had our own little corner and it was great. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was great (shout out to Ayoub).
BEST RESTAURANT in MARRAKECH! The food is amazing, but in my opinion, the eggplant with cheese and sauteed chicken with cream and mushrooms are a MUST try! The staff is wonderful! They always treat you with a smile! If I come back to Marrakech I will definitely visit this place again! Also try the apple crumble!
Very good attentive personal, delicious food, amazing desserts-best ones we had in marroco actually...the place is pinky and not very spacious ..you feel a bit like in a dolls house but thats the only flaw otherwise awesome
Best meal I had in my week in Morocco. Bustling helpful staff with what seems to be a designated person for each language. I went with the three course menu and each was great. When the Nutella crepe was the weakest part of the meal I think thats saying something. Left stuffed.
The food in general is good. But harira soup was thiner than should be. And service in general is good, but when we booked and came on time, there was a queue of people who booked table too. We all waited around 30 min.
Food is fine, but we had a better one here in Marrakech. Service is good, very nice guy. Portions are huge and prices are appropriate.
Great little cafe with friendly staff and good food at reasonable price. It can get very busy at times which is a good sign, there were also a few solo diners in which is also good. The street cats wanter in and beg for food. One even jumped up on the seat next to a diner which was shocking for her.
A fusion of maroccoan and french cuisine. Service is a bit slow (also because the place is always fullbut food is really delicious! Portions are big and great value for money. Highly recommended! (The savoury crepes was amazing!!)
If youre visiting Marrakech this has to be on your must visit list. Came here off on a recommendation and Im glad I did. Ive been to a lot of restaurants in Marrakech and Morocco and none of them stand-up to quality and price of this restaurant. 95MAD for 3 courses too which is incredible value. Ive had tajine that cost 300MAD in Marrakech but this restaurant does an even better one for barely a fraction of the price. Honestly, do not skip this one.
very nice food! friendly staff. so many visitors came to ask for a table but the staff were still very patient to answers visitors questions. very full so remember to make a reservation.
Very characteristic place, excellent quality of food ! Strongly suggested the beef with prune and almonds, as well as the starter (pic below: it s delicious mix of sweet and sour filled with chicken and herbs )!Cheap place !
Friend staff (I forgot his nameand the owner too. Friendly service, the price is reasonable and located near the Square. We called to make reservation, arrived 5mins late and we still get our table. Quite a lot of guests queueing outside. Also the food is tasty, well-balanced.
Great food, friendly staff and good service. I’ll definitely go back. I’m a big eater and couldn’t finish all of the delicious food. Prices are good too, and no pushy people in front of the door to get you in. Love it.
You know that this is a tourist hotspot because it’s absolutely packed with westerners and if you don’t have a booking you might struggle to get a table. Super friendly service and the goat cheese salad is absolutely delicious. The tagine makes were served piping hot and the mixed pastries with tea were fresh, tasty and freshly made
Our first meal in Marrakech, so impressive, must try the avocado juice and the chicken tagine. There are western dishes as option, free wifi, good service, easy to locate, just perfect!!
This place is amazing, we were in Marrakech for a week and we went to la cantina 3 times. Its menu is very varied and wide and its relation quality/price is very good. Its staff was unbeatable, guys are very pleasant and attentive. Highly recommended!!
Really cool place. The stuff is very nice and the food is good! I recommend the juices, they are good! There are also some vegetarian options, the vegetarian cous-cous was delicious.
Great food, great staff!Honest people! Will come back for sure!Tangine, Couscous or Curry chicken very good!Nice, clean and cosy space.
Delicious foodWe started with almond bastilla as a starter than had couscous royal and tajin gazel, all food was delicious and well presented.Definitely tridimensional morroccon food.Service was excellent. Reasonable price. After spending all day at madina Marrakech market we had 5 star experience.I love to try againHighly recommended
As per all reviews, this is undoubtedly one of the best restaurant in the Marrakesh area. The place is very cozy and well decorated, and the staff is amazing and cheerful. The food was the best that we had during our stay. It had flavor, taste and that touch of food made with love. You can see the fresh ingredients and the meals being prepared through the open kitchen.Highly recommended… so highly that we returned one last time before leaving.
Lovely, small restaurant with a great choice of tasty food. It is always quite crowded, and appears to have waiting time. But the food was worth it. Loved the Kefta Taijin and pastilla. Some music in between was entertaining as well. Recommended.
Small and cosy with a quick turnaround for food and customers. The menu is varied to cater for tourists, being just off the main square. There is certainly potential value for money here, having ordered a 3 course menu for the equivalent of £8. The obvious caveat being in the quality food. The chicken pastilla starter wasnt bad, the chicken and mushroom in cream sauce was surprisingly tolerable, the pizza was bland and the apple crumble tasted very artificial.Come here if youre not a fussy eater and have no intention of breaking the bank.
