La Bussola - Italian restaurant in Florence, Italy
La Bussola in Florence
Description
Privilege
Delightful restaurant with delicious food. Staff is friendly and well versed in various languages to make any tourist feel welcome.
MoreI can not tell you how much I love this place. The food is excellent! The service and staff, excellent! Atmosphere for authentic meal here in Florence, excellent! Choice of wines, excellent! But it is much more than that. We were able to spend quality time with the owner/manager? Michael in between shifts as we had a bit of a travel hiccup with our flat. He took us in as his family to help - after we finished our lunch, just concerned that it was solved he (and two locals from the leather store across the streetgot it solved for us!! We have been back twice to try more entrées and another wine suggestion and have been impressed every time.We will be back again tonight to say goodbye, but what an amazing group of people working here to give you the best experience. Did I mention the food is outstanding?!?Update: We went back, amazing meal, wine and conversation. Thank you for such a great experience every time.
MoreThe food here was incredible, especially for being in a main tourist area. The mussels were the best Ive ever had, and the seasonal porcini mushroom and chicken was out of this world. The tagliettelle and porcini was also incredible. They also had the beat foccaccia weve had in italy. With a bottle of wine it was about 100 euros for the lunch. Service was also fabulous.
MoreThis is a complete tourist trap and probably the worst food I have ever paid for. We got bruschetta among other things and thought it was a joke when it came out. What a terrible restaurant I have no idea how it has so many good reviews.
MoreOur table was a bit dim, more lighting would be welcome but I guess that’s the atmosphere they want to create. The food was very good and tasty and the service was great.
MoreLá bússola offers an average experience, with a premium price tag. We dined at La Bussola last night, and things started out bad with a fairly slow service. My family and I ordered a Spaghetti carbonara, a Gnochi with Pecorino Crema, and a Blue cheese and pumpkin risotto. The Spaghetti was good, no complaints there. The Gnochi was very very blend, extremely oily (there was a puddle of oil at the bottom of the plate), and the Risotto came 15 minutes after every other plate, because the server failed to initially add it to the order. When the risotto finally came, it was average, with the rice being undercooked and too hard for this type of dish. It sure felt rushed to correct a mistake. In all fairness, we did get Limoncello shots on the house, but at this point I expected a discount on the bill, not something we didnt even like.To top it all off, the place gets extremely warm inside, with no AC or Fans, to the point where you sweat while you wait 10-15 minutes for a bill you asked twice. Not a good look in my books.Overall a disappointing experience.
MoreAmazing food, good service. Owners very attentive to costumers needs.
First class meal & service. ‘Walk Ins’ and were seated at the bar as restaurant fully booked. Super welcome from this family run establishment that was recommended by a local Barman. Calimari & Anchovies to start followed by Veal Milanese & Lasagne. Top quality & accompanied by some excellent house lager from The Dolomites & a lovely and fairly priced Tuscan Rose. Professional & relaxed with a cool vibe & the family input is clear to see. We’ll be back. Thanks guys & look forward to seeing you again.Richard & Karen Hodge.
MoreOrdered take out lasagna with friends, but they just gave us what seems like leftover lasagna. After trying to contact them, they were rude on the phone and also in the reply of the review.Would NOT recommend this place because of their lack of manners.
Moredelivered left over lasagnas. do not recommend to order for delivery.UPDATE: their reply also shows their lack of manners when critique is given.
MoreFantastic dining in the heart of Florence. Starters great, mains amazing, dessert yummy.
MoreExcellent food and wine. A great restaurant with great service. Located in the heart of the historic district. Surrounded by designer shopping and beautiful architecture. They are always busy but no reservation is required.
MoreMight be one of my favorite meals in Italy. The burrata was super fresh and the perfect appetizer. We also had pizza which was phenomenal. It was our first proper pizza of the trip and it was super good. We also ordered carbonara and gnocchi. I am a big fan of gnocchi but the walnuts in gnocchi not so much. It created a bitter and off taste to the dish. THE BEST TIRAMISU.This restaurant is situated in a busy area along rows of restaurants. Definitely not one to be missed!
MoreReally disappointing! We are staying opposite this restaurant and were recommended It by a local shop owner because it is such an old and established Firenze restaurant. The food was mediocre. We had the risotto, sheeps cheese/walnut salad and the garlic fagioli and all were flavourless and dull. Our neighbours at the next table found out the same and had to ask for some garlic for their spinach dish. There are SO many lovely restaurants in Florence. Don’t waste a precious evening meal on this one.
MoreWe visited Firenze a few months ago and stopped by this place for dinner. Hands down, they have the most delicious pizzas in the whole world! Their pizza dough is so amazing that we just had to go back a second time. The staff at the restaurant is also super friendly and the food is just excellent!
MoreHands down best pasta carbonara EVER! Stumbled upon this restaurant for dinner on our first night in Florence. Also ordered the calamari and a pizza as well. We cannot wait to come back. Would highly recommend!
MoreDelicious pizza, lasagna, pasta in Florence. They are a short walk from the ponte Vecchio bridge and from the Via Tornabuoni. Great indoor and outdoor seating with a great selection of wine. Service was top notch with a very knowledgeable staff. Visited them more than once during my Florence visit. Will be back.
MoreExcellent food. The panna cotta with chocolate is delicious. It’s a nice bitter, dark chocolate. Stefano is a great server!
MoreThe absolute best lasagna I’ve ever had in my life. It’s soo good that it’s life changing. The ragu, the pasta, the cheese! Trust me, do yourself a favor and make a special visit to this restaurant just to order the lasagna. Also my husband said their steak for one, with truffles, was the best he’s ever had anywhere. Better than II Paoli which we ate at the night before (although that was delicious too but much larger steak and without truffle). We ordered the pear salad too and that was a perfect accompaniment to everything. Can’t recommend this place enough, can’t wait to come back to Italy to eat here.
MoreFood is ok.Service is horrible.Advises weren’t good.A dish not possible after the order has been made because they realized they didn’t have (by the wayanymore artichoke, the basics of service, that’s a very bad experience.A glass of red wine re ordered but arriving 10 minutes after when the dish/meat is finished, really not optimal… and disappointing experience…
MoreLoved our lunch at La Bussola. Fine food, tasty cocktails. And they took us in nevertheless it was almost 3PM (when everyone closes).
MoreWe went here for lunch and were super happy - delicious food, a quiet setting off the main road, and great drinks. The pizza was fantastic and the pasta delicious. Would recommend!
MoreWe have visited La Bussola three times during our week in florence. Once just to enjoy wine, a second time to experience their pizza and a third to have lunch outside. It is the best restaurant we have came across during our week by far. The service is impeccable and the pizza was next level 👌. Cannot recommend this place enough!
MoreAlthough I only heard tourists around me (incl. myself), it certainly didnt feel like a tourist trap. The pizza was amazing!! Good service, just a very nice place, 5 stars for me
MoreRealistically 2 stars but Im giving one to lower the ridiculous average. Pitiful portions for the price and not even well made food. Chicken with artichoke comes with three fried to hell little pieces of artichoke. Salad ordered with low quality steak cut burnt to crisp outside and raw inside came after I was finished with the steak. Same with veal milanese, fried to dark brown crisp, red inside. Gelato was way too sugary. Never got the lemonade I ordered. At least the house wine was fine. Very disappointing culinary experience in Florence after great one in Venice.
MoreOur order was messed up. Entree came. appetizer never showed up. Either way, pizza and risotto were good. Flavorful and tasty. Tiramisu was light and fluffy.
MoreProbably one of the best pizzas I ever tried!!!The pasta was also very good and the place felt less touristic than other restaurants in the same area… will definitely recommend it to anyone in Florence!
MoreEvery dish is very delicious and I feel like we would have come back again if we stay longer in Florence! The best florentine steak Ive had, very juicy and tender. You must also try their tiramisu as I think it is the best one weve had in Italy. Very heavenly :)Id 100% recommend this restaurant.
MoreGreat service, food was nice, perfect pit stop when in Florence
Went for a simple pizza and loved it. Some of the best dough Ive found in Florence! These folks know what they are doing, and they are very friendly and kind, too. Highly recommended.
MoreStaff speaks English. I feel like its the norm with all the tourists. We werent supposed to eat here but it was next to the "popular place" my wife wanted to go to. Im happy we went here instead since the wait was a couple hours for the other joint. We were seated immediately and in a separate room since our baby was sleeping. I ordered a pizza with Tuscan sheep cheese, truffle, and cherry tomato. It was spectacular. It might have been my favorite pizza after living in Italy for three years. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable sitting near their bar and pizza oven. I would go to Florence specifically to eat here again.
MoreThis is my favorite restaurant in Florence! The food and wine is amazing. La Bussola hosts the best pizza you’ll ever have. (Pizza No. 2So delicious!! The service is great and they provide everything you need for a fanstastic experience. There is a pleasant, relaxing ambience in the restaurant. AMAZING!!!
MoreNice, atmospheric restaurant in the heart of old town of Florence. The menu is a bit pricey, but the options are very interesting (like pizza with pear, honey, walnuts and pecorino). Good selection of wine (I especially loved the prosecco). Friendly, bilingual staff. You can book a table online, which is extra convinient.
MoreAmazing food. You MUST get the Tiramisu tasting. We came here twice
Forgot to take a picture of the pizza but it is outstanding and in the Neapolitan style. Excellent service and broad menu and really good wine list as well. One of our favorite spots to dine Al fresco in Florence.
MoreIt was the perfect evening. The service was very kind.I had the beef with lardo and it was the best steak Ive had in Firenze. The Tiramisù was without a doubt the most unique take on the italian classic Ive ever tasted.I would recommend La Bussola because of the high quality food with an amazing pricetag.
MoreThe food, atmosphere, and service are top notch – I had the pizza with ‘nduja which was delicious and perfectly spiced. I can’t wait to return and try their seafood. Many thanks to Stefano and Giuseppe for their kind hospitality. Ci vediamo presto.
MoreHighlight of our trip! Our hotel recommended this restaurant for dinner and we were so grateful they did! The service was impeccable, thank you Biagio! Biagio recommended some really good wine. The food was incredible! We had the grilled octopus, linguine with lobster, gnocchi with black truffle, Florentine steak and pear salad and everything was delicious. We wish we could eat here every night!
MoreThe truffle risotto at La Bussola is worth going out of your way for, but luckily this place is conveniently in the centre. The vibe is laid-back but chic; a fantastic place to feel fancy after a day of being a tourist in Florence.
MoreFabulous Pizza and side dishes, it is our first time in florence and we went to “La Bassula” from the Reputation, and it was worthing it!The staff are very Nice and will try to help you, for me I was asking for non -alcoholic drinks and non-pork dishes, so they understood and gave us what we wanted. The cheese with truffles starter dish was amazing, I recommend it.The only small neg. is the waiting time, it was a bit long, but the dishes worth waiting !!!
MoreWe first visited this restaurant as a recommendation from a tour guide in 2017. We have been back to Italy (3times since then (most recently April 2019). Each time we are in Florence, we make it a point to eat here. The staff is friendly, attentive and will always find a staff member that speaks your language. The pizza is thin crust, not over loaded with sauce/cheese. The appetizers are great in addition to reasonably priced food and wine.
MoreVery nice interior with an Italian flair. The staff is super friendly, but the food is even more worth going there. Even amendments to the menu are being happily fulfilled. Definitely worth a visit!
MoreAmazing service and quality. Had the Florentine steak and it was delicious. I have heard their pasta is incredible as well. We will definitely go back when back in Florence and I would highly recommend adding them to your dining plans.
MoreAmazing pizza and the pasta was to die for ! Classic Spaghetti Alla Carbonara was al dente and delicious. Service was great, the waiters made ordering easy in English. 1 pizza, 1 pasta, 2 glasses of red wine & a bread basket = €38! Incredible place. Open in low season, too.
MoreAmazing food at a great price. Our hotel recommended this place and it was well worth it. The house wine was great too. Getting off the plane, to our first Italian meal. This has set a high bar. Thank you.
MoreAdmirable quality in food and service. Their pizza and sea bream are simply fantastic. A special thanks for Toshi for his thoughtful wine recommendations.
MoreWe chose this restaurant from a recommendation. It was great. The crusts were very nice, and toppings were fresh as you would expect from nice florentine pizza. This a great place to try.
MoreAn amazing place to have fresh pasta and Pizza, waiter was very friendly and spoke English. Food was fresh and full of flavor, a definite choice when in Florence.
MoreA mid range restaurant with a lot of Tuscan classics. The pizza is great and offers a lot of variety, and they have a decent wine selection. Reservations recommended, but the staff is friendly and the atmosphere casual.
MoreWe were here on 5 separate occasions during our 2 week trip in Florence. Every meal was fantastic. And our regular server Eliane is superb. Pizza is great. Pasta and secondi are great. Very clean and lively place.
